ICal won't sync with Entourage!!!!!!!!!

Hi
I have a new iPod nano and was trying to sync my calendar.
To be clear iCal is NOT my main calendar, Entourage is but I have to sync Entourage to iCal in order to sync my calendar to iPod.
Well I have done this and if I press sync then iCal gets populated BUT when I close iCal it loses all the meetings!!!!!!!
I have to re-sync every time, and when I open iCal it is empty EVERY TIME.
One thing I have noticed is that there are no calendars in the left hand pane and I cannot add any!
Any thoughts or ideas out there please people?
Cheers.
Robin
PS I did have this under another title but a kind poster pointed out I may get better luck with this title rather than the one I had.

Hi Robin
I got my iCal and Entourage to sync by going in to Entourage preferences and choosing the Sync Services section. Choose which option you want (I chose to merge data). Once this is done, you should be able to view both calendars within iCal. The sweet thing is that if you update your work calendar, in either program, it shows up in the other one within about 30 seconds.
Hope this helps!

  • ICal won't sync with Entourage anymore

I started having trouble with this right after 10.5.2--duplicate events that needed conflict reconciliation.
Today I noticed a number of meetings were being duplicated. Sync asked me to resolve conflicts, which I did globally in favor of Entourage.
I ended up having to delete multiples by hand, then tried to re-sync. They multiplied!
Following other suggestions I saw here, I opened iCal, deleted the Entourage calendars (there were now two!) and shut the program. I re-synced and reopened iCal. As expected, it had created a nice shiny new Entourage calendar--with NOTHING in it. Now I've run sync several times and it's still not being updated with my Entourage events.
    Help appreciated.
EDIT--I just imported Entourage data into Mail--and it created a new calender, Entourage2! What the...? I deleted the original Entourage iCal calender, and just kept the populated one. Will this sync up properly now?
EDIT AGAIN--No, it doesn't sync properly--it re-created an Entourage Calendar!!! With nothing in it!

  • My ical won't sync with iPhone 4 after IOS 6.0.1 update

My ical won't sync with iPhone 4 after IOS 6.0.1 update. The "sync calendars" option is no longer available after I installed this update. Any ideas???I have tried a few times to sync, and nothing has changed on my calendars. I have had so many troubles with this update. Grrr...

I tried the same but it did not worked. But, i got a solution. I accessed gmail on my laptop. Went to gmail settings. There is a option to add a device. A iPhone was already listed. I clicked Revoke to remove it. Then i clicked add new device and gave it iPhone name and a new 16-20 character password was geenrated. I used it to configure gmail on my Iphone and it worked beautifully. So glad i have been able to fix this. That password is a one time password to authenticate that device.

  • Ical won't sync with iPhone 5, iPad 2 or macbook pro.

I have updated my devices and now my ical won't sync with iPad 2, macbook pro or iPhone 5.  How can I refresh them so they will all sync together.  I just noticed that when I added an event on my ipad2 it did not show up on my macbook pro.  I turned iCloud off then on again.  I also turned calendars on and off again.  Then the event disappeared from my iPad also.  So now it is only on my iPhone 5.  How do I sync ical with all my devices?

    Anna,
I have tried everything suggested by the apple support webpage.

i'm pulling my hair out! my ical just won't sync with my iphone anymore. i wanted to reset sync history as suggested in some forums but lion doesn't have isync anymore.
it is so frustrating as it is supposed to be easy to sync apple products!
    any ideas?
    thanks again
    ian

Thanks John, you're a star! it's back to normal, it was hours last night resetting my iphone but no luck. I reset my sync services this morning and it works!
Why have Apple made it so difficult to do this, why hide things away? I spent ages looking for my library the other day as that was hidden! Mad!
    Much appreciated John,
    Ian

  • ICal won't sync with PalmZ22 in 10.5.1

Before I upgraded to Leopard iCal I synched fine with Palm z22 now it won't. By removing "Apple Conduit" from conduit folder and replacing it with 'Calendar Conduit", I can now synch with Palm desktop. I would prefer to use iCal. Is this a Leopard bug or is there a solution that I am missing?

I have learned that iSync does not work with late model Palm Pilots (www.foleofanatics.com/2007/11/mac-os-105-palm-desktop-421.html). Therefore I am synching with Hot Sync in the Palm Desktop software. I plan to buy "The Missing Sync for Palm OS" when the Leopard version becomes available.

  • TS3991 iCal won't synce with Mountain Lion & iPhone 4s

I can't get iCal to sync with Mountain Lion & iPhone 4s via iCloud. Is there a simple way to make this work?

Okay, did some comparing and it appears only ALL DAY events are displaying on the wrong day. Anything I have set with a specific time shows up on the correct day. Found a reference on the Internet that explains this.
Apparently, according to that source, the computer considers a day to START at 12:00 am, so an all day event displays on the computer on the correct day which begins at midnight. But the iPhone considers a day to END at 12:00 am so all day events are posted BEFORE midnight of the correct day, which is the wrong day.
What I don't understand is WHY Apple has the iPhone using different criteria than their computers? This "bug" apparently goes back to the original iPhone iOS. Why haven't they reprogrammed it by now?
I have an appointment with Apple for next week to have someone call me and I will discuss it with them. Hopefully, they'll have an answer for me on how to fix my events to display correctly. If not, I guess I'll have to change all day events to begin and end at specific times. Which means deleting birthdays from the Address Book and creating calendar entries for each one. What a nuisance that will be!
ETA: AND I won't be able to rely on the US Holidays calendar. *sigh*

  • ICal won't sync with iTunes

I have setup iCal to and Address Book to sync with my iPod. They are not updating, though. I have done what I need to do in iTunes (to my knowledge) by going to the Contacts Tab and checking sync for both Calendars and Address Book. I have tried All Calendars, as well as manually selecting one of the calendars.
I have also created a new calendar from scratch, put items in it, then tried syncing it also, but it will not sync. When I sync, iTunes says specifically that it is syncing Calendar and Addresses, but nothing shows up on my iPod afterwards.
What steps can I take to determine the problem? Thanks for any help.
    whardy7

Well, the problem is solved. I won't go through the nightmare I had with Apple Support (including convincing the tech support person that iTunes handled this, not iSync). There was a corrupt file which was somehow determined by creating a new user account and trying to sync, which it did. They told me I would have to move everything (it was 20 minutes after closing for them and they did not want to mess with it.) When they said corrupt file, I started looking and ended up deleting the right file which allowed the two to sync together. I wish I could tell you which file, but I primarily deleted the preferences files having to do with the two programs, as well as some Application Support files that I felt safe in deleting. I determined this by making changed to the calendar, then trying to sync, then observing what files showed having been updated at that time.
If you are interest in knowing which files, I can look and see if I can remember. Try syncing under another account and see if that works. If it does, there is likely a file that is messed up.

  • Ical won't sync with gmail account

I'm trying to set up my wife's iCal to sync with her gmail calender. We both just got brand new macbook pros and mine had no problems sync my mail, calendar, chat and address book.
Yet when she tries to sync her computer with her gmail account it will only work with mail and address book and chat. When it tries to sync her calendar with iCal it says that "A secure connection couldn't be established" and won't sync her calendar at all.
    Anyone have a solution?

This has been an issue for people since 2010. Why is it still here?

  • Ical won't sync with iPhone over iCloud

I have an iPhone 3GS which doesn't want to sync with ical.
I am successfully syncing ical between my MBP and icloud and vice versa, but the iPhone won't work. I have tried everything suggested by the apple support webpage. And everything else that i have found on google, so i'm after any other ideas?
I have restored the phone at least twice, and still no luck. I am running latest version of ios...
With icloud for ical turned on on the phone a LOT of battery power is wasted, with 0 use of phone it went down 20% in 1 hour. It looks like it's constantly trying to update, but nothing comes down to the phone, or goes up to the cloud.
I am successfully syncing contacts between the phone, cloud and MBP - though this wasn't entirely straightforwards due to duplicates and other such issues with the phone.
I'm getting very frustrated! The only bit I really *need* to sync to my phone is the ical. I can manage without everything else! Sigh.

  • ICal won't sync with iCal from other computer and .Mac

I am trying to snyc my ical on my desktop with the ical on my laptop. I use my ical on my laptop most often so its data is most upto date, but I would like to have it so that no matter which one I look at its the same, and if I change something on one it will update on both.
I thought that is what would happen with .Mac and syncing. But when I try to sync my desktop it says that it won't sync the calander because of inconsist data, but it won't tell me what they are.
It says to confirm that your computer's data is valid, (its not, but how do I confirm or not?). Then it says to reset calendars on .Mac in the system preferences when I try to do that it gives me an icon of computer and .mac, and an arrow saying in what direction I'm assuming data will go. I choose .mac, to computer and it still comes up with the same problem.
So how do I fix? Once I fix will it merge data on both or will it always be thinking take the .mac data and replace it? It scares me when it says are you sure you want to do this and its changable if you do. I don't want to loose the data on my laptops calander.
Is there a way to clear my desktop ical, and then sync it and get my laptop's data and start from scratch? And then do mutual merges after that?
It says to check that my info on the computer is correct and then to reset it in .mac preferences. The data on the desktop isn't correct but even if I reset, it won't

I'm having massive problems with syncing via .mac with two local Macs - nothing I have tried has worked as yet and it's currently under investigation with a .mac specialist.
I did used to get the 'inconsistent data' warning but that has somehow disappeared - now I don't get any warnings and .mac says both Macs are synced but I get nothing updated to iCal from either direction...
So I don't as yet have an answer but just to let you know that if you get in touch with Apple they will support you with finding an answer.
In the meantime have a look at these links for more self-help:
    http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/02/25/how-to-truly-reset-your-mac -sync-data
Note that iSync also plays a large part, not just .mac and iCal - you need to 'reset sync data' in iSync/preferences.
Plus some of the help stuff that Apple sent me:
You may need to reset sync data again on .Mac and on all of the computers with which you are syncing.
First, it's important to back up any data that you wish to keep. For more information, please see:
How to back up and restore your important Mac OS X 10.4 files (applies to 10.5 too)
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n301239
Mac OS X 10.5: When to use Time Machine or .Mac Backup to back up data
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n307050
Before proceeding, you may find it helpful to print this email and the above articles so that you can consult them during this process.
Next, using a computer that has Mac OS X v10.5 or later, unregister the other computers, including any Mac OS X v10.4 computers you may be using. (To find out which version of Mac OS X is installed, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.)
Here's how to unregister the other computers from the computer that has Mac OS X v10.5 or later:
    1) Open System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click Sync, then click the Advanced button.
    3) Click once on one of the computers in the list and click Unregister. Follow the onscreen instructions to unregister the computer. Repeat this step until all registered computers are removed from the list.
    4) When the last computer has been unregistered, you will be asked "Would you like to delete unused sync info from .Mac?" Select the boxes next to each of the data types listed and click Delete.
    5) Restart the computer.
After unregistering the other computers, sync your data from the computer that has the most up-to-date information.
To add a computer with Mac OS X v10.5 or later to the .Mac sync list:
    1) Open that computer's System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click the Sync tab.
    3) Select "Synchronize with .Mac."
    4) Select the data types you wish to sync. Click Sync Now.
    5) If you are asked, "What would you like to do for this first sync?", select "Merge" and click Sync. You may have to do this for each data type that you are syncing.
After you have performed the initial sync, you should try syncing again. If you do not receive any errors, you can add additional computers to the .Mac sync list by following these steps on each of the computers:
    1) Open that computer's System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click the Sync tab.
    3) Select "Synchronize with .Mac."
    4) Select the data types you wish to sync. Click Sync Now.
    5) If you are asked, "What would you like to do for this first sync?", select "Replace data on this computer" and click Sync. You may have to do this for each data type that you are syncing. This will replace the data on the computer with the data that has been synced to .Mac.
I recommend that you add the computers one at a time, confirming each time that syncing is working correctly. To confirm that syncing is working, make a change in one of the data types you are syncing, then perform a sync from the first computer. When that syncing is finished, perform a sync on the second. If syncing is successful, add a third computer, and so on.
    Good luck!
