ICal won't synch between two computers via .Mac

I use .Mac to synch calendars between my iMac and my PowerBook (and from there to my iPhone). After installing Panther on both computers the calendars will no longer synch. During the first two or three tries each computer produced a large number of conflicted date messages. Some of these were clear errors (July 4th was shown to be on July 3), but often there was no detectable difference between the choices I was offered. After the first two or three times just nothing happens.
I looked in the Console on the PowerBook and found a log entry that suggests that the problem may be in the other computer (iMac). However, I can't find any error message in the iMac that I can clearly identify, though honestly I don't know much about where to look or what I should see.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The problem is that .Mac Sync technology has been undergoing almost three weeks of 'maintenance' and structural modification since October 19, 2007. Until this process has been completed, you will not be able to synchronize using .Mac Sync, and place your data in substantial jeopardy if you continue to try to do so.
Check the lower left sidebar of the face page of .Mac for periodic status updates. Until the Sync LED changes from amber to green, you can count on the process not having been completed.

  • Ical won't sync between two computers

I have an Imac at work and an Ibook at home. Items entered on the Imac will always appear on both calendars and sync properly. Items posted at home on my Ibook, will NOT appear on my Imac at work. I also sync my address book and Safari Book marks and those always work fine . What do I need to do so that the items entered on my Ibook at home will appear on my Imac at work?
    Thank you.

  • Can I sync IPhoto albums between two computers via ICloud?

I have some pictures on my MacBook Pro, and some on my desktop.  Other than offloading to a hard drive and trying to duplicate the two drives, is there a way to create albums and have them show up on both computers via the cloud??

    brettjbyers
No you cannot sync an iPhoto library between two macs. If you do you will corrupt the iPhoto Library file. iPhoto is a consumer level app, and this feature is not supported.
What you can do is share the photos but not the library. Each machine will need to have it's own library file.
The easiest way to do it this is to enable sharing (in the iPhoto Preferences) on both machines (one sharing the library, the other looking for the share). When you do this the shared library will appear in the Source (or left-hand) pane and pics can be dragged from that to the library in the other machine.

  • I want to sync all my mailboxes and preferences between two computers via iCloud

I have created a folders under iCloud ~/Library/Mobile Documents called My iCloud Documents and it works like a charm to sync non-icloud app docs between my iMac & MBP.  What I did was creat this folder on both computers and add it to my Favorites in the left column of my finder window, on both computers.  Now I can simply save to it or drag & drop docs/files to have access on both.
Note: you should add Mobile Documents folder to your side bar for easy access by creating an alias of Mobile Documents folder and draging it over to the sidebar.  Once you have done this you can delete the alias from the ~/Library folder
I would like my MBP to mirror my iMac with my Mail.app, specificly all my non-icloud mail boxes and folders and also the preferences...
    On My iMac:
    1) duplicate the files/folders so I have a backup on the iMac
    2) create aliases of the original files/folders and leave in place
    3) move the copied files/folders to my newly created ~/LibraryMobile Documents/My iCloud Documents/Synced Mail Stuff
    4) rename the files/folders so I dont overwrite them on the MBP
    5) create aliases of the files/folders that are now syncing on the MBP in the  ~/LibraryMobile Documents/My iCloud Documents/Synced Mail Stuff
    6) create the aliases and move them to the appropriate location on the MBP
This is where I am stuck, if there is anything in the files or folders on the MBP that I need... how would I then be able to access it for syincing?
I guess I can export and then import once I complete my syncing...
Any help would be great on this matters!
    -Alfeo

This does not work.  I tried to move the folders to the iCloud folder leaving the Alias, but the system only recreated the mailboxes in the proper place.  Still looking for help on how to achieve this task.

  • Cannot synchronise sent items between two computers using .mac

    Hi,
I have two machines, both with fully updated OS, which I use to access my .mac email account. I cannot get the sent items to synchronise on both. On each one the emails I've sent from that machine appear in the relevant subfolder of the 'sent' folder with the paper plane icon, but emails sent from the other computer appear in a 'Sent Messages' folder within a jamesroyall.mac top level folder.
I've tried simply moving messages and then deleting the folder, and removing the whole account on the laptop then reinstating it from new, but the same thing happens. Is there any way around this? I've been through the prefs and both are set up the same way (IMAP) with all messages stored on the server except drafts.
    James

'Store sent messages on the server' is checked.
The menu option is still greyed out on the mailbox, in fact it is greyed out on all the sub-mailboxes under the top level 'Sent' folder (with paper plane icon) - I imagine because only sent items can be stored here. The same is true for the Inbox, Drafts, Trash and Junk categories.
The other 'Sent Messages' folder under the JAMESROYALL.MAC top level folder (this is the one that is automatically created and contains sent items sent from my laptop) does allow the menu options Use this mailbox for | Sent, etc. But I'm trying to get the messages out of this folder into the main one.
I'm sure it's an IMAP folder as it shows under the quota info on my MobileMe IMAP account when I control click on the folder and get account info.
    Thanks for your continued help!

  • Since installing Mavericks, my HP Printer adds an extra page to every print job, and iCal won't synch via iTunes with the Calendar on my iPhone 4s. Can Mavericks be uninstalled?

Can Mavericks be uninstalled? Don't know if the discussion title pulled in all of my problem, so here it is again. Since installing Mavericks, my HP Printer adds an extra page to every print job, and iCal won't synch via iTunes with the Calendar on my iPhone 4s.
And no, I was a bad boy and had not been Time Machining. Guess I will now.
    So, can Mavericks be uninstalled?

Uninstall CleanMyMac2 >  How To Uninstall CleanMyMac
Uninstall Cocktail > Uninstall Cocktail for Mac OS X
Third party cleaning utilities are not necessary on a Mac and can only cause problems.
Your Mac runs maintenance in the background for you >  Mac OS X: About background maintenance tasks
Growl is un necessary and can slow  the system down > Growl - Removing Growl
If you want to monitor the system, use the pre installed Activity Monitor app located in HD > Applications > Utilities

  • Is it possible to share 1 bluetooth keypad and 1 mouse pad between two computers in target mode?

Is it possible to share 1 bluetooth keypad and 1 mouse pad between two computers in target mode? Grab a drink and let me tell you my story.
I purchased two computers... an iMac 27" i7 3.4 16GB RAM and a Mac mini 2.3 i5 8 GB RAM. Both have Thunderbolt capability and are in fact connected by thunderbolt. I have 3 problems...
    1. My Mac mini WILL NOT recognize any bluetooth keyboard. Let me back up for clarification. I set my iMac up first. No problems there. I then went on to set up my mac mini. A couple of interesting things happened concering bluetooth activity. First thing is that the keypad, which was already paired with my iMac wouldn't be recognized by the mac mini, and yet my bluetooth mouse which was paired with my iMac became paired with my mac mini and thus wouldn't be recognized by my iMac anymore. I had to go to my back room and dig out my other bluetooth mouse so that my iMac would at least recognize my second mouse. So now I have two "mice"presently. One for the mac mini, the other for the iMac. Thankfully I also had a USB keypad for my mac mini. My bluetooth keypad is still paired with my iMac but won't pair with my mac mini, which brings me to another question....
    2. CAN 1 KEYPAD AND 1 MOUSE PAIR WITH TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTERS SO THAT WHEN I GO INTO TARGET MODE VIA THUNDERBOLT I CAN USE THE SAME KEYPAD AND MOUSE FOR BOTH COMPUTERS? Anybody have some thoughts on that problem?
    3. WHY IN THE WORLD IS MY MOUSE CURSOR DISAPPEARING EVERYTIME I EXIT TARGET MODE VIA PASSWORD AND COMMAND F2. I'm using target mode to access my mac mini. But when I exit target mode to get back into my iMac I'm looking at my iMac screen but I can't see the mouse pointer! I can move the pointer around even though I can't see it. Wierd. And this has apparently been going on for some time with other users for over a year. I am presently completely up to date on Lion updates. Both systems are running 10.7.4. Does anyone have a solution or heard a rumor of a solution coming soon regarding the invisible mouse cursor "curse". I hate having to restart my iMac everytime I exit out of target mode just so I can get my mouse cursor visible again.
Food for thought.... Wouldn't it be really cool to have a target mode capability to see your other computers desktops in seperate window screens on your main display. You then could go back and forth from each window by just double clicking or by certain key commands. You could drag and drop from desktop to desktop. Tell me this is coming soon.
    Thanks

  • How to keep playlists in sync between two computers?

I have a MacBook Pro and a regular desktop Windows 7, and I have all of my music on both of them. However, I constantly keep adding new songs to different playlists all the time, and this makes it hard to keep everything in sync with both computers and my iPod because I usually sync from my Mac.
Right now I export the updated playlists on one of the computers and import it on the other, but it's quite the hassle just to keep some playlists in sync. I tried using home sharing, but it just keeps downloading duplicates everytime I try to import, I would've thought it was smarter by just adding the new songs but appearently it isn't.
So, anyways, is there any easy way for me to automatically keep playlists in sync between two computers?

I am indeed subscribed to iTunes Match.  Are you saying that with Match, it will sync my playlists?  I will have to check this when I get home.  That would really be a nice surprise!
I sync my iPod to iTunes on my Windows 7 box, but use iTunes on my Mac for synching my iPhone 6 and iPad 2.  Normally, I'd be modifying a playlist on the Win 7 box, adding or rearranging songs.  However, occasionally, I might download a song to the iPhone while out and about.  Then, when I'm back at the Mac, I'd do a sync and add that new song to one of the playlists.  Should Match then be keeping the playlists on the two machines in sync?
As for the library replication, I had to do that when I first signed up for Match.  I was WAY over the 25k song limit, so I made a copy of the library, and in that copy deleted enough songs to get me under the limit.  Also discovered scripting and did some really neat things with that tool.  Still have the option when I start iTunes to use the old library, just in case there's something there I need to copy to the smaller lib.

  • If I set up Firefox synch on two computers, will I lose the bookmarks on one of the computers, or does synch combine the bookmarks of both computers onto both browsers?

If I set up Firefox Synch on two computers, will I lose all the bookmarks, preferences, etc. on one of the computers, because they will be replaced with the other computer's Firefox bookmarks, etc.? Or will the synch combine bookmarks, etc. of both computers, so that bothe browsers have all the bookmarks that were present in both browsers? If I add synch to a third computer, will those bookmarks also be added to the existing ones for all the other computers?

  • Synchronizing between two computers

    Question:
I have two different computers (a laptop and a desktop) and use iTunes on both of them. I have about 120 GB of music and audio files (so I can't really use an iPod to synch between the computers).
What is a good way to keep the iTunes music folders synched between the two computers - audio, music, playlists, ...?
Anyone have experience with a simple solution to this which doesn't take too much time on a regular basis?
    Bill Parr

I'm there with you.. I was just searching the forum for that particular problem.. I don't have as much music as you do... (only 40 gigs) but yes it would be nice when there is a song added to one computer that the other one updates automatically... I don't know if .mac can do that...

  • Can I put my library on an external hard drive and use it between two computers?

Can I put my library on an external hard drive and use it between two computers? I have two MBP; I will refer to one as computer A and to the other as computer B. I would like to be able to plug in my external hard drive, boot up iTunes, and if there were any changes made to the library previous to its last time accessed on this compluter, they show up on that computer, regardless of being imported on the other.
A hypothetical example: I import three albums called 1, 2, and 3 on computer A over a week or so. I take the external hard drive and plug it into computer B. The entire library which was visible on A, is visible on B, including albums 1, 2, and 3.
Is this possible? If so, what files need to be copied onto the external? I'm trying some different combinations, trial and error basically. Hopefully someone knows and can answer before I mess up my library. I also want to do this to free up space on my computer. All importing will be done from disc.

iTunes/Preferences/Advanced : point your iTunes to the new location of the Library.
Set "Share on local network" in the Sharing tab, and you or everyone on the local network can play your music.
You make a backup first of the Library.
Move the follwing to the new location:
    /Users/your username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
    have fun.

  • How do I sync the same library between two computers?

I have an iMac and a Macbook Air, and I am constantly buying music betwen the two computers, and my iPhone. I want to be able to sync up my iPhone on both computers, but it keeps telling me I have to resync my entire phone, which is just crazy. How can I sync up itunes? I have .mac to sync my contacts, mail, etc.

I have an iMac and a Macbook Air, and I am constantly buying music betwen the two computers
Constantly? The MacBook Air is brand new.
Even if you sync iTunes between two computers With something like this -> syncOtunes, you will still get this message if you sync to the other computer. The libraries may be have the same music but they are not the same library.

  • I want to create serial communicatios between two notebooks via Bluetooth

    Hi,
I'm trying to accomplish serial communications between two laptops via a Bluetooth connection.
The two laptops are NOT Toshiba notebook, but they are both running the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack For Windows. They are also both using the default Bluetooth Manager program that is supplied by Toshiba and Dell (just rebadged?).
Basically I can set up a connection no problems, but then I send serial data from one computer and watch the receiving serial port on the other computer but nothing ever arrives.
Are there any good tutorials for this? It would be nice to have something for the Toshiba Bluetooth Manager in particular as the windows and buttons will have the names as explained in the tutorial.
    Thanks in advance.

I tried it for tests purpose via a hyperterminal connection and it worked.
Maybe the description contains also some helpful information for you.
    Here is it:
    PC1:
Start "Bluetooth Settings->Custom Mode->Select Remote PC->Select 'Serial Port'->Accept proposed COM port (in my case COM40)->Confirm wizard windows
    until setup is finished".
    PC2:
    Start "HyperTerminal->Select COM7"
    PC1:
Start "HyperTerminal->Select COM40 (in my case. See step 1 above)"
    PC1, PC2:
Enter the same Passkey if security is turned on e.g. "0000"
    PC1:
Everything what you type into HyperTerminal should be visible in HyperTerminal of PC2 and vice versa.

sync is about synchronizing network calendars. Simply create a network calendar and synchronize it on multiple machines and forget local calendars.
