ICalendar Stuck on UTC

I am trying to figure out why the time zone switches from Eastern Time to UTC in my iCalendar app. I checked the Date & Time Panel (System Preferences) to make sure it is set to Eastern Time. I also have it set to automatically access the Apple's time server. In the iCalendar app, I select Eastern Time in the drop menu in the upper right corner and the close that pane and relaunch iCalendar.
When I create any new event, I select Eastern Time. Whether I close the pane for that event or relaunch the iCalendar app, it default to UTC. It clearly says Eastern Time in the upper right hand corner and the Date & Time Panel is correct. Past events are not effected and still say Eastern Time. It just the new entries that will not stay in Eastern Time. What is going on here?

    gordonmisty,
Oh wow! I'd be very alarmed with seeing this red eye. Thank you for completing all of those steps.  Is there any physical or water damage to the device? Are you aware if you're still under the 1 year manufacturer's warranty?

  • PowerBI regional/localisation settings (date time format/timezone) - PowerPivot dax NOW() returning UTC date

Can the regional settings be changed for PowerBI or are we stuck with UTC? Tried googling but the only hits for 'regional powerbi' relate to the portal being available in that region, not any kind of localisation configuration
I have a workbook that is set to auto refresh. I've added a 'last refreshed' label to the front page, but when refreshed on PowerBI it shows the time in UTC (10.5 hrs off from where I am).
I'm not a sharepoint person so will need steps and diagrams if it's a sharepoint config setting :)
    Jakub @ Adelaide, Australia Blog

    Hi Ed,
I have a date dimension and I add a computed column to it. It's called RefreshDate. The code for the computed column is =NOW()
I then use this column to show to the user when the model was last refreshed.
Hi Greg, not really interested in workarounds at this time (i have another thread going for that & my data source is web apis, not a relational db with datetime functions) -
this is more of a question of "is it possible to choose which timezone is used by the powerbi vertipaq engine for scheduled refreshes? yes/no"
We are working in a single time zone, but the PowerBI vertipaq engine looks like it's lives in london.
It shows the correct current time on the local user's PC when I (or a user) refreshes this model locally. It shows the UTC date (my time zone - 10.5 hrs) when the report is refreshed by powerbi.
I have a workaround going in my report currently using powerquery to get the utc date and manually add 10.5 hrs + add a label to my report that states this is a fixed 10.5hr. This is a hack because we're in a daylight savings zone, so in a few months
the tz will revert to +9.5hrs and i'll need to manually fix this again unless i'm able to set powerbi to use my time zone.
The sharepoint guys here have changed every setting they know about in sharepoint online/o365 in regards to time zones and localisation. The date format and dates shown are correct for the 'web pages' part of powerbi (the refresh history, the formatting
of the dates on the powerview reports etc), but the time zone used when powerbi executes the NOW() dax command appears to be set to UTC.
    Thanks

  • Officejet 8600 pro plus time zone issue

has anyone successfully set the time zone on the Officejet 8600 pro plus? There's a webpage for the device to setup the local date & time - it has a nebulous button to 'set the time zone to the same as you computer' or something like that.. I can't get it to work under Win7 IE or firefox - the printer seems to always be stuck in UTC. That means I have to set the printers local time to UTC to make the timestamps of email scans appear correct. Any ideas? It seems like older officejets had an option to explicitly set the time zone from the device's webpage but that's gone. BTW.. I've upgraded to the latest firmware (v CLP1CN1150CR - 15-feb-2012), but the problem persists.

You should be able to do that via the LCD panel from the printer.
    Setup->Tools->Preferences
Setup is in second page after the home screen.
Click on the "Thumbs up"button on the left to say "Thanks"

I have shared my icalendars with family members via icloud and now my calendar on my computer has been stuck saying "Moving calendars to server account" for literally 5 days.  What do I do?

    Hi, Confused As Always CB.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Hopefully I can help resolve this issue for you.  Try removing the preference to sync calendar events in iCloud preferences.  Once this is down enable the preference again and see if this resolves the issue.
Turn iCloud Calendars off and back on:
    Quit Calendar (or iCal).
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then select iCloud.
Deselect the checkbox next to Calendars.
Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
Open System Preferences and select iCloud.
Replace the checkmark next to Calendars.
    Close System Preferences.
Open Calendar (or iCal) and test to see if the issue is resolved.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
If the issue persists, try all remaining steps in the article below.

  • My icalendar is "stuck" on upgrading!

I cannot access any of it's features.  When I go into system preferences, ICloud, the Icalendar box is checked, but "gray" and it constantly says "starting".  My mobile devices are fine… it's just my macbook ical that seems to be frozen.  Please help!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest by trying to open the iCloud preference pane. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • How does WebLogic clean up stuck threads?

    Hi,
Using WebLogic 9.2.2 on Linux OS. In our logs, we are finding some stuck threads and it seems to be due to something WebLogic is doing. While we don't understand the cause (maybe the stack trace helps), does WebLogic do anything to remove stuck threads from its pool, or is there anything we can do to configure it to?

You can configure these actions to occur when not all threads are stuck, but the number of stuck threads have exceeded a configured threshold:
    * Shut down the Work Manager if it has stuck threads. A Work Manager that is shut down will refuse new work and reject existing work in
the queue by sending a rejection message. In a cluster, clustered clients will fail over to another cluster member.
    * Shut down the application if there are stuck threads in the application. The application is shutdown by bringing it into admin mode. All
Work Managers belonging to the application are shut down, and behave as described above.
    * Mark the server instance as failed and shut it down it down if there are stuck threads in the server. In a cluster, clustered clients that
are connected or attempting to connect will fail over to another cluster member.

  • SQL Azure Data Sync stuck in Processing State since 5 Sep 2014

    Hi,
I've a sync group stuck in "processing" state since 5 Sep 2014, have tried to restart the client PC, restarted the sync service and also tried to regenerate the sync agent key, but still in vain. Would anyone please help me to figure it out what's
the problem? As I have many sync groups running without any problem for more than a year and encountered this problem recently (in this 3 months).
    Here's the sync group details:

    Hi Bowen,
I've checked the local agent has been offline at 2014/09/05 18:00:00 UTC+8, as the shop close every night and they will shut down the computer, but they've turned on the computer in next day morning, and they keep turning that off at night, turn
    back on at next morning.
I've checked the agent was online during that "stuck" period when the computer was turned on, as I could click the "PING SYNC SERVICE" and it reported it could reach the sync server, and I could also view from the portal that the agent
was online, just the sync group stuck in the "processing" status.
    Best regards,

  • U410 - cannot log in after Windows Update following Factory Restore when timezone is not UTC-8.

    Steps to reproduce error:
    1. Use OneKey recovery to restore initial factory settings.
    2. On the Windows initial configuration screen select a timezone ahead of UTC-8, such as UTC (London)
    3. Log in to Windows, open Windows Update control panel and click "Install Updates"
    4. Reboot computer to complete updates.
    5. On login screen attempt to login or shutdown the computer.
    Result:
Computer is stuck with only desktop wallpaper and mouse pointer visible. No response to any keys. Pressing the power button sleeps the machine. Pressing it again wakes the machine back to the stuck state.
I have reproduced this problem 3 times using initial restore each time.
    Wordaround:
Before beginning the factory restore process, set the system clock back by 24 hours. After the factory restore completes, set the system clock back to the correct time.
Alternatively, wait 24 hours between a factory reset and attempting to install Windows updates.
    Analysis:
This problem is caused because of the way that Windows stores the time. It assumes that the system clock is set to local time rather than UTC. When you use the OneKey recovery system it does not know what timezone the system clock is set to, and so it assumes that it is set to UTC-8. If it is in fact set to UTC, OneKey Recovery creates files with a timestamp 8 hours in the future. This causes Windows Update to fail.
    Solved!

İ assume you're refering to yesterdays updates.
Yes some systems have problems at times dealing with the updates.
You can boot into Safe mode, use system restore to an earlier point(before you installed the updates)
then install 2 updates at a time,
    and rebooting.
That way you should be able to see, which one is causing the problem.

  • Hwclock and utc

    Hi!
I can't get the time on my system correct. It stays to hours behind no matter what i do.
I have installed tzdata with pacman, and set my correct timezone i rc.conf (Europe/Oslo).
The time now is 22:33 (10:33 PM).
    hwclock command gives:
    Tue 01 Apr 2008 08:33:13 PM CEST -0.000502 seconds
According to this my hwclock is set in localtime, but the time displayed is UTC.
In rc.conf i have set HARDWARECLOCK="UTC". I have also edited /etc/adjtime according to instructions in man hwclock:
    /etc/adjtime
    0
    0
    UTC
hwclock believs its UTC because hwclock --utc doesnt change the ouput. However hwclock --localtime gives the time 18:33 (6:33 PM), which is 4 hours behind.
When i set the hardwareclock to localtime in rc.conf, hwclock --utc gives me the correct time. It was after i discovered this i added the /etc/adjtime file, but it didn't change anything.
I'm runnning arch on a Macbook Pro, dual-booting with OS X. The time in OS X works fine.
Can anyone please help me with this problem? I'm pretty stuck and frustrated right now...
    EDIT: typo
EDIT2: Doesn't look like the /etc/adjtime file does anything. Tried setting it to localtime, made no difference...

I always do it like this:
    - set system bios time to local (watch) time
    - use "localtime" and correct (capital city) timezone in rc.conf
    - sync with ntpdate (sporadically online) or openntpd ('always-on' machine) to <country code>.pool.ntp.org
When dual-booting, also adapt the other system(s) to the same scheme.

  • Flashplayer stucks after upgrade

    Hi!
I haven't upgraded archlinux for about one month and after I did pacman -Syu today flashplayer started stucking every 5-10 second and is frozen for 2-3 seconds and then again. Not only streaming video/audio, but flash games and banners also. It doesn't load CPU a lot, the whole system works perfect, but flash... It doesn't depend on browser - chromium, firefox - it stucks everywhere.
Before this upgrade it worked perfect.
    Some info:
    Linux axell 2.6.36-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 10 20:01:53 UTC 2010 i686 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
Video is integrated Intel (it's a laptop).
    no compositing anabled.
    extra/flashplugin 10.1.102.65-1.
P.S. Found just now - opera browser freezes like flashplugin - but the whole browser.
    Please, help ;-)

I have the feeling that this isn't a flash problem. You may have encountered this bug Link
If you have encountered the bug you can either downgrade the kernel to 2.6.34, use the LTS kernel or compile the latest kernel with the patch that was linked at the end of the thread.

  • Stuck on Search Page

I just upgrade a Demo instance of PeopleSoft from PeopleTools 8.50.0 to 8.51.10. I am having trouble opening up the pages. The instance is a Demo HRMS 9.1 instance.
The following pages open up the search page, but they never get past the search.
    - Workforce Administration > Job Information > Job Data -- search for Empl ID begins with KU
    - Workforce Administration > Personal Information > Modify a Person -- search for Empl ID begins with KU
    - Payroll for North America > Employee Pay Data USA > Tax Information > Update Employee Tax Data
    - PeopleTools > Portal > Portal Security Sync
    - PeopleTools > Utilities > Administration > Updates by Update ID
The following pages open up (because they have no search page)
    - PeopleTools > Portal > Structure and Content
    - PeopleTools > Portal > PeopleTools Options
I have tried clearing the App Server Cache and Web Server Cache. I also enabled tracing for the Application Server. From what I can tell, it isn't getting stuck on anything from the database side or PeopleCode. I tried to run the Version App Engine because I kept seeing nothing but version select statements. None of that helps.
I found I was able to get into the Portal Security Sync just now by adding ?RUN_CNTL_ID=PS to the URL. That loaded the page, but the Run button did not work. I am beginning to think the problem is with Javascript. Internet Explorer says there are 3 errors:
    - Object expected; PORTAL_ADMIN.PORTAL_SEC_SYNC.GBL Line: 240
    - Object expected; PORTAL_ADMIN.PORTAL_SEC_SYNC.GBL Line: 240
    - Object expected; PORTAL_ADMIN.PORTAL_SEC_SYNC.GBL Line: 249 Code: 0 char:1
I may try Chrome next, but I wouldn't mind having it work on IE.
    I am on Version: 8.0.6001.18702
    Ciper Strength: 128-bit
    Product ID: 01399-347-2874743-42501
    Update Versions: 0
    OS: Windows Server 2003
Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this further?

Ok, I have changed the navigation.
So, I changed it on PeopleTools > Portal > General Settings. I changed the Navigation Type to "Left".
After logging out and back into IE, I still get the same errors:

Then, I tried changing the Style Sheet Name --
PeopleTools > Utilities > Administration > PeopleTools Options
Changed Style Sheet Name from PSSTYLEDEF_SWAN to PSSTYLEDEF
    Still same result.
Next, I tried clicking the compatibility button near the URL and the refresh button. Then, everything started to work! I guess that is the solution. I kind of feel dumb that it is such a simple solution.
Then, I put everything back, and it works again. So, I guess the compatibility mode is the solution.

  • X stuck in 640x480 since nvidia 7862 upgrade

    Hi all
I've tried searching for an answer but to no avail.  Ever since the upgrade to 7862 I can't get X to start at 1400x1050, or anything other then 640x480 for that matter.  I've tried different settings in xorg.conf but I'm not very skilled with it.  this is what it looks like

any help would be appreciated I've tried searching all over for an answer but I seem to be the only person with the the problem heh.

I hope this doesn't double post my DNS is acting strangely today
I forgot to check my xorg log   but here it is.  Interesting the part about no valid modes, since it worked fine up untill I upgraded the driver.  also I think the resolution may be 1024x786, its been so long since I"ve used another resoultion it seemed really small
might be easier to search the answer now that I know what resolution I'm stuck in.
