ICalExternalSync error -unable to sync iCal

I get the following error (console log) when I try to sync iCal with .Mac nor reset the data from .Mac.
I have tried deleting Calendars folder, all Application support for iCal, etc...
Anyone care to provide some insight??
Please help.

Unable to sync Ical from Iphone 4 to MacBook since updating to Itunes 11.

I am unable to sync Ical from my Iphone 4 to MacBook since updating to Itunes 11. (and yes, the Iphone shows up as recognised in the sidebar and will sync Ical from Macbook to Iphone.) All ideas welcome.

If Damon's suggestion of resetting sync history doesn't fix the problem you most likely have a bad contact record in iCal. When they sync encounters the bad record it doesn't know what to do with it so it stops. To fix it you must find the bad record, open it, make a small change, and save it. An easy way to find the bad record is to create a new group and set the iPhone to sync to this group. Put a few records into the group at a time, then sync. At some point the sync will fail or hang. You have then narrowed the problem to a few records.

How come my computer gives me an error "Unable to sync Unknown error"

When I sync my IPOD Touch to my computer it gives me an error "Unable to sync, Unknown Error". I already updated my IPOD and it did not fix the problem. Anybody have any ideas?

Sync error, unable to sync

I recently started to use DM for Mac. I have my settings for my calendar set to only sync events 30 days in past and 90 days in the future, but today it gave me a problem with reoccurring events that I have (birthdays, holidays, etc) all the way back to 2007?!?
When I restored my data from last sync to try to override the problem - it completely cleared my calendar of ALL events.
Now, if I try to sync I receive an error that DM is unable to sync - please retry. But it doesn't say what the error is preventing the sync. ???
In the log the following exists:

Unable to sync iCal and mobilme

I performed a sync with mobileme last night and everything synced except iCal. I get the following dialog box.
Calendars could not be synced due to inconsistent data.
Confirm that your computer data is valid, then reset calendars on mobileme in system preferences.
One problem is there is no data in iCal. This is a first time sync.
The second problem is i can't find where to reset calendars in system preferences.
this is a brand new 13 inch MacBook my old G4 PowerBook died.

I have made some progress in my particular situation. I now have stability with iCal desktop. What I did was rename the folder called iCal in Application Support, I renamed it with an x at the end so it would not be used unless I got rid of the x. That way I can easily go back to it. Then I used one of my earlier backups from the apple program Backup, restoring iCal folder in Application Support. I then renamed the folder called SyncServices in Application Support with an x at the end. Then when you just start up iCal it makes a new one. I think that is the culprit of all my problems. And so far all is well. I have not synced iCal to mobile me yet, I may not do it, that is where all my problems began. I don't really use Calendar on mobile me for anything anyway.

Error message when syncing iCal from iTunes (os Lion) on iPhone 4s

I am no longer able to sync my iCal on my iPhone 4s with iTunes on my iMac (OS 10.7.3 Lion). An error message stating that the iPhone is turned off is posted. How do I resolve this?

I am unable to sync ical to icloud.

I have been for the past 3 hours to sync my ical on my imac to my icloud account. When I log into my icloud account online it shows the calandar as blank. I have tried to turn on and off the calandar in system preferences (on my imac) mail and in the icloud system preferences and it does not sync up. I have a 2011 imac and lion OSX.
Is this common? I can see my calendar in google docs, on my imac in ical and on my ipad 2. But for some reason my icloud calandar is showing up blank.
I made sure that I have been logging in with the same user name on all accounts.
If anyone has any suggestions or help please let me know.

What a mess!!
I had Mobile me. It worked great. When it was shut down I tried to migrate to iCloud but it didn't work, I guess because I am running Snow Leopard. So I tried to just use iCloud to sync and it didn't work well, I ended up with multiple entries, missing entries, etc. So I scrapped that and went to syncing through itunes. When I upgraded my iphone 3GS to a 4S any old calendars on my mac that were part of mobile me wouldn't sync to the new phone, and I want all my past events there too. So I manually moved all the mobile me calendars in iCal to calendars I created on my mac. I deleted the old, then I redid the colors so that everything would make sense. Certain calendars synced, certain ones didn't, and the issue was not only mac to phone but phone to mac as well. So I manually made sure everything was on my mac and then hit the replace content on this iphone button thinking that it would just put everything back on my phone and now nothing is on my phone! It erased all my entries on my phone. It's all on my computer but nothing will sync to my iphone calendar. This is not what I expect from Apple. I have been a faithful apple user since before OSX, the first ipod, before the imac, and this is a huge problem and one of the main reasons I came to apple to begin with.
Can someone help me!! I need these two to sync for work purposes!

Error - unable to sync

I tried updating today and got stuck on this message:
Restoring iPod from backup...
Time remaining: about 5 seconds
Went out for about 5 hours, came back, and it's still the same. I gave up and went into the processes and ended the program. Restarted and my iTouch looks like it updated successfully but there's no music or videos at all. All my Apps are working though.
When I try to sync, an error message pops up saying:
"iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later."
I've both reconnected...and tried again after a few minutes. Still get the same message :/
Anyone having this problem? Any idea how to fix it?

lucky you! I've tried everything and to no avail. My Itouch is still dead. With that beautiful itunes/usb logo stuck on its screen. I tried last night connecting it to another computer, which recognized my Itouch, proceeded to restore it, then it installed the new software and there it was again the same logo on my itouch screen. Today I uninstalled everything and after installing Itunes with all its components again connected my ipod and the same window appears.

It gives me options on what to do, 'locate and install driver software' 'ask me again later' & 'dont show this message again for this device'. I choose the first one to install the driver software, it searches, but then comes back with another window saying...
'Insert the disc that came with your apple mobile device (recovery mode)' but i dont have that, so i click for other options, and it browses the web and never finds anything. This is so frustrating, my ipod will not connect to itunes so i cant restore it, i dont even know if i'm on ios 4 because i can't even get on it.

When Firefox starts I get an error : Sync encountered an error. An unknown error has occurred. when I go to sync preferences it says your sync key has changed. When in the update key dialog I simply type the old key it accepts it ans again starts syncing as if nothing had happened.

hello, when this is happening after you've already updated firefox with your admin account, try to delete the ''updates'' folder and ''active-update.xml & updates.xml'' within the %localappdata% folder of your restricted account like it is described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update#Software_Update_not_working_properly

Error: Unable to Sync Files

My LR Catalog is about 1.45GB. I thought I would try backing it up to the Creative Cloud Files - but after an hour of uploading, just as it was finishing - it reported this message. "Unable to syc files". Sorry, no other error message or status code other than that.
The catalog is called "LR Master Catalog-5M.lrcat" and it's located within the user folder on my system drive
MAC OS X 10.8.4
My upload speed is about 400kb/sec - so that works out to about 3600 seconds - and that's about when the error occurred.
LR not running at the time.
I dragged the lrcat file from where it lives to the Creative Cloud Files folder and the upload seemed to start while the copy was taking place. The copy takes about 16 seconds on my system.
Any thoughts ?
BTW - this seems to be in the downloading, installing and setting 'forum'. perhaps a moderator could move it to where it needs to go.

With Creative Cloud desktop application, you can upload files up to 5 GB. If you attempt to upload anything larger, you can see some unexpected errors.
With the Creative Cloud website, you can upload files up to 1 GB. If you attempt to upload anything larger, you can see some unexpected upload failures.

Unable to sync iCal & Treo 650

Hi,
I seem to be having difficulties with syncing my Treo 650 Calendar events with iCal and vice-versa via iSync.
There does not seem to be any problems with Addresses.
Any tips please?

I did the same thing to solve the problem as I have a PB that I used to sync with the Treo 700p I have and through the .Mac account I keep them al happy. If you sync in Leopard you my lose all your address book on the Treo which happened to me a couple of times until I really understood what was going on. But, Apple isn't fixing this as I stated in another thread I created on the subject:

I subsequently found out that the Palm OS synching conduit is stil there in Leopard's iSync 3.0 but is now unpredictable.

Unable to sync ical

I keep getting a message that says I can't sync my iCal because the server is undergoing maintenance or one of my other machines is syncing. But this goes on all day. What's up?

After upgrading to OS 10.8.5 I am unable to sync iCal to Nano

I am no longer able to sync my nano device with my calender on my computer. I've noticed this after upgrading to OS 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion). I've tried adjusting the settings on the nano device via itunes, but no luck. Please give me some helpful suggestions. Thanks.

I'm almost completely certain that the scanning feature worked before the update. Having said that though, I don't scan a great deal and it may be the case that when I have done, the printer was directly connected to the MBP. However, since I have a laptop it's far more logical that I would have had the printer connected to Airport Express for reasons of portability so I can't really see that I would have had the printer connected directly to the laptop. Besides this, I have no memory of having this problem previously. Therefore, I don't think my memory is to blame although of course, if it were I'd have no way of knowing!
