ICC Profiles: How do I install?

Prior to Yosemite I had no difficulties installing ICC profiles, i.e., after downloading the print paper manufacturer's ICC profile, I would drag and drop it into the ColorSync profiles folder accessed through Library>ColorSync>Profiles. But now? There's no such thing, apparently and no instructional reference that I can find anywhere on the entire WWW.
How do I do it now? I've already spent at least two hours trying to find a way on my own after opening the ColorSync Utility in 10.10.2. I find no provision for importing or otherwise placing a new icc in ColorSync; the closest I've come is to open ColorSync: Profiles>Other>Library/Printers>EPSON/InkjetPrinters, where I'm presented with all the icc profiles that came with the Epson printer driver... but it won't accept a new icc profile by drag-and-drop or any other way I can see.  As for "Library", it doesn't seem to exist anymore, other than a "library" located somewhere after finding it with the "find" function; it contains a few folders of unrelated obscure files.
I am extremely frustrated and irritated.

Yes, the library is hidden, but easy to get to.  The problem seems to be that Yosemite is preventing Photoshop from seeing the profile that has been added to the folder.  Here is a picture showing that the new profile has indeed been added.

    This is the error I get when tring to play an action (e book cover)   on CS2 uploaded today.   I look around but could not find anything.  I have a brand new HP windows 7 premium home edition 64 bits.
    Thanks a million

    Well, it then explains it.  I, downloaded CS2 as I was under  the impression that it says windows 7. I never had the chance to try Photoshop and I am sure it is probably the best around.  I have been using GIMP, but it has limitations, and one thing I notice amongst other is the "Action" that are available.
    I tried CS2 because of my limited resources $$$$ >  Would you have any idea what I could get that would fit my system  and not break the bank; (Photoshop) as they have such an array of product it is amazing.
    Thanks for your time, much appreciated.

  • ICC profile no longer installed so Photoshop (OS9 Classic ) won't print

    Hello everyone
    What is an ICC profile? If I run my non latest Photoshop in the OS9 Classic environment on OS10 a message comes up that the ICC profile is no longer installed so it cannot print - what can I do?
    Bryony

    An ICC profile is a mathematical snapshot of the color range and gamut of a given device. There are separate profiles for monitors, digital cameras, scanners, printers, etc. With this information, ColorSync knows what each device is capable of displaying, capturing or printing. As an example, it can then give you the closest color possible on your printer to match your monitor.
    With Photoshop open, press CommandShiftK to call up the Color Settings. Under the Working Spaces section, see what profiles Photoshop is looking for under the RGB and CMYK fields. You should then find that profile in the OS 9 /System Folder/ColorSync/ folder. Actually, it doesn't mean it's there, but that's the one Photoshop is looking for.
    You could choose a different profile. Or, you could reinstall Photoshop entirely, or do a custom install and have it only reinstall the ICC profiles.

  • How to embed ICC profile

    Hello,
    I'm trying to embed an icc profile in a pdf, I am actually doing like this:
      char *filePath=NULL;
              ASPathName ICCPath;
              asprintf(&filePath,"%s/ICC_PROFILES/%s",DataDirName,profileName);
      #if !macosx
                        ICCPath = ASFileSysCreatePathFromDIPath(NULL,filePath,NULL);
              #else
                        ICCPath = GetMacPath(filePath);
              #endif
              ASFile iccProfile = NULL;
              ASFileSysOpenFile (NULL, ICCPath, ASFILE_READ, (ASFile *)&iccProfile);
              ASStm asStmICC = ASFileStmRdOpen(iccProfile,0);
              int tmp = ASFileGetEOF(iccProfile);
              char* buff=calloc(tmp,1);
              ASStmRead(buff,1,tmp,asStmICC);
              AC_Profile profil = NULL;
              ACMakeBufferProfile(&profil,buff,tmp);
              PDDocColorConvertEmbedOutputIntent(pdDoc,profil);
    it's kind of work since I have the icc profile inside my pdf file (I can see it with vim)
    but I'm having issue when trying to open it with Photoshop ... Photoshop don't see the embeded profile.
    any idea ?
    Regards,
    William

    An OutputIntent Profile (which is what you are creating with the PDDoc call at the end) is NEVER used by PDF UNLESS the PDF is also compliant with one of the subset standards (eg. PDF/A, PDF/E, PDF/X) - see ISO 32000-1:2008, 14.11.5.
    Why are you setting this profile?  Is the PDF a single page with a single raster image?

    How can I reduce the numbe of ICC profiles shown when I use the drop down Menus for setting up a printer or when soft proofing.  I am trying to eliminate all profiles other than those that I use when printing.

    Hello,
    The link should help.
    If you check in your printing preferences and see if under Color Management you have an option of Application Managed Colors.  If so an ICC profile should exist for your printer and you can follow the steps in the link below to set up your driver and Adobe.

    If this doesn't work updating your printer driver may help.

  • Photoshop can't print to Canon Pro9000 Mark II - ICC profile issue

    I'm using Photoshop CS with OS 10.6.2. I have the latest Canon driver, 10.30.3.0, and the latest ICC profile set for Canon from the Apple driver site. As I begin the print dialogue everything seems fine. Photoshop is controlling color management, and I select the Canon paper/quality ICC profile. After I click print, it sends the print job and I get the following error: Could not print "test.jpg" because the ICC profile is no longer installed.
    I can load the same image into Photoshop Elements 6 and everything works fine, except I have the familiar Canon magenta cast syndrome I still need to work through.
    Any ideas on the "no longer installed" error?
    Thanks!

    The Canon ICC profiles for the respective paper stocks are stored in /Libary/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter/Resources/ICCProfiles. You should have one labelled "Pro9000IIseries.canonicc". I wonder if this profile may have been damaged with the recent 10.30.3 update, assuming that you had the previous driver installed.
    FYI - I found that running the update via Software Update did not correctly update the installed Canon drivers. Even deleting the queue and re-adding still showed the previous 10.26 driver. I found that I had to download the v2.3 Canon update and run it manually. Only then did the installed queues show the v10.30 update. Maybe you need to try the same?
    One way you could check if the profile is okay outside of PS is to print the image from Preview and via the Canon menus, set Color Matching to ColorSync and then select the profile you selected in PS. If you get a similar error then you know that it is a driver issue rather than being related to the application.
    Note that regarding PSE6, Adobe previously acknowledged that there was an issue with double color management, ie both PSE6 and the printer was controlling the color output. Adobe's suggestion at the time was to disable color management in PSE6 and let the printer manage the color.

  • How to install Epson ICC profiles using Photoshop CC?

    How to install Epson ICC profiles ussing Photoshop CC on Mac?

    Danny,
    Just stop and think for a moment. Firstly, it's not Rocket science to produce an icc profile, and does not involve the profile having to physically 'fit' into a pre-formed item such as the razor blade analogy you used.
    Secondly, If the likes of Epson and HP did produce printer profiles for all makes of paper, can you imagine how much more product they would sell. Printer companies are currently missing out on substantial amounts of income at the moment because the cost of their inks is more expensive than gold! Thus, the third party ink manufacturers - although not producing an ink as good as the original - are earning large sums of money and once again this is income loss to the major printer manufactures.  Can you imagine what would happen if certain vehicles would only run on  a specific fuel? I don't mean Diesel or Petroleum, but different manufacturers, Shell, Texaco, Murco etc.
    At the end of the day the only person who is adversely affected by this business model is us, the consumer.
    I really don't think they need you to be standing up for them Danny.

    NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder. You'll need to do it again after each system update that's applied.

  • How to install ICC profiles in Lightroom

    This is probably an easy question, but I didn't see an obvious reply in Google.  I use ICC profiles when I print from Photoshop, but they don't appear in Lightroom.  Is there an easy way to install all my profiles into lightroom?

    Jim,
    Thanks!   I was scratching my head there for a moment, because that's how I install profiles in Photoshop. I couldn't figure out why they weren't showing up in Lightroom. It finally dawned on me that I had had to nuke and re-install Lightroom due to a persistent corrupt file. Apparently the profiles went away with the previous installation.  Thanks for your help!

  • How to Install (copy) ICC Profiles

    I have two computers running fully updated versions of Mountain Lion. One has all the desired ICC profiles installed in Library>Printers>Epson>InkjetPrinter and in Photoshop the profiles show up just fine and I can make my selections.
    On my other computer, the profiles had been there but disappeared in one upgrade or another. I tried having them installed automatically by deleting and reinstalling the printer drivers via the Print & Scan System Preferences. The driver gets re-installed but no profiles. I tried copying the profiles from the one computer to the exact location on the second computer and still no luck. Profiles of two of my other printers are all present, but not the one I'm trying to get added.
    I have restarted many times along the way and even tried replacing the whole Epson folder with no change.
    Does anyone have an idea of how I can copy those profiles to where they'll work?
    FWIW, these profiles are for an older Epson 2200 which is still supported according to Apple's list. It works fine and does print perfect color through the computer that shows the profiles. Profiles for my Epson 7880 and Canon MX870 show on both computers.

    Here is the location where the Epson v2.12 Printer Drivers for OS X (Oct. 4) will install the Stylus Pro 2200 .icc profiles. Everything from Printers inward is owned by root and group admin. The individual .icc files are read/write for root, and read only for everyone else.
    I used CharlesSoft dot com Pacifist to discover this information. Downloaded the above Epson Driver dmg from Apple/support/downloads. Then opened it with Pacifist. Looked in Contents of EPSONPrinterDrivers.pkg. It is possible to drag the SP2200_A.profile and SP2200_W.profile bundles from Pacifist into the /Library directory hierarchy. You may have to create /InkjetPrinter2/ICCProfiles folders manually and permit them root:admin first.
    Not for the faint of heart. If I was invested in Epson printers as you are, I would simply install the whole v2.12 installation package above. That should build the directory hierarchy for you. (fingers crossed).
    /Library/Printers/Epson/InkjetPrinter2/ICCProfiles/SP2200_A.profiles
         Contents
              Resources
    /Library/Printers/Epson/InkjetPrinter2/ICCProfiles/SP2200_W.profiles

  • How do I install icc profiles? I keep getting message that folder can't be modified.

    How do I install ICC profiles on Lion? I keep getting an error message that the folder can't be modified. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    If the profiles need to be accessed by all user accounts on that Mac, follow Martin's instructions for getting the main Library folder to appear. In order to place items into the folder, you need the admin name and password before the OS will allow you to add (or remove) any items. It's either that, or you have to copy the same profiles into every individual user account.
    If the only user of the Mac is you, then the Profiles folder in your user account will work just as well.

  • How do I install Paper Profiles (.icc)?

    I am trying to install a paper profile I downloaded from Hahnemuhler .(PhotoRag) ...
    .icc profile selected that matches the printer and paper
    I copied the .icc profile to what I think is the right place: C:\windows\System32\spool\drivers\color
    I right clicked the profile for PhotoRag
    I clicked Install
    I restarted LightRoom and Photoshop ...
    I looked under all paper profile options (incl. Other) ...
    NO PHOTORAG ...
    What do you think I left out or missed?

    Windows 7
    Photoshop, Lightroom (latest versions)
    Much appreciated ... Chuck

    you can see the icc profiles when you convert your color settings from RGB to CMYK.
    Therefore, you can try in Photoshop menu;
    Edit - Convert to Profile and then you can select the profile which you've loaded to your Computer.
    Hope that works.
