ICC profiles show as unavailable

Hi
I have CS running on Snow Leopard and I've downloaded some profiles from a print shop in the UK, copied them to library/colorsync/profiles but they don't show as loaded when I do view/proof setup. When I click load and locate the profiles they show as faded out e.g. unavailable. They are real profiles from Fuji and Epson. I am lost so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nick Garnett

Those sound like print profiles.  Usually you can select those in your RIP and sometimes your print driver depending on how sophisticated it is.  Try opening your Color Sync Utility and see if you can work with them there.

  • How do I get PSE 7 to load ICC Profiles?

I am using an Epson R1800 printer with Windows Vista 64bit.  The Epson ICC profiles show up on my computer in the Color folder but PSE 7 does not pick them up and display the ICC profiles in the printer profile pop-up window.  Is there a bug in the software or am I doing something wrong?

  • CUSTOM ICC PROFILES DO NOT SHOW UP IN PSCS 6 MAC OS 10.8.4 BUT ARE OK IN CS5

The only icc profiles that show up in CS 6 Mac OS 10.8.4 are the ones that are installed from the printer driver ( Epson 9900 ) Any other single or custom profiles  do not show up when placed Library/Colorsync/Profiles
All profiles show up in CS 5, There has been a lot of discussion of this on many forums with no solution. I have also tried installing the profiles in the contents folder of the Epson printer in the main library folder with no luck. Please advise

Mac OS 10.8.4 is still in beta. You need to be reporting this to Apple.
What happens if you move these profiles to the Adobe/Profiles folder, or the users/Library/Colorsync/Profiles folder?

I have not seen this problem with the released versions of 10.8.

  • ICC profile from SmugMug not showing up in LR Color Managment

I've installed the two standard ICC print profiles from the SmugMug website.  One is for EZPrints and the is Bay Photo  http://www.smugmug.com/help/choice-of-printing-labs
Both are installed correctly and show up in the correct Win 7 directory.  However, only the BayPhoto driver is shown in the LR dialog.
    Any ideas why?
    Thanks

I have no idea why the EZprints one doesn't show up, but you should realize that there is little point in using them in Lightroom. The technicians at both Bay Photo and EZprints actually have told me that the icc profiles they have on their website are useless as there is no guarantee that your image will get printed on the machine the profile was made for. They have many machines and paper types and that one profile is therefore useless. Secondly, both labs color manage, which means that you can just send them sRGB or adobeRGB jpegs and as long as they are correctly tagged (which Lightroom always does) they will convert them to the correct printing profile for you. Lastly, Lightroom does not have any soft proofing without hacks, so you cannot even use the profiles for that purpose.

  • Icc profile not showing up in Photoshop

hi- I downloaded an ICC profile from an online printer that I want to use in Photoshop CS3 so my images appear properly for their output. I placed it in Library/Adobe /Color/Profiles and restarted Photoshop but it does not show. What am I doing wrong?

Ramon look, if it says the downloaded ICC profile is shortrunposters.icc and you place it in the folder listed as such and it appears like that when you look at it in the folder and then when you go to the actual profile list (which happens to be over 100 profiles) and you don't see shortrunposters.icc where the heck are you supposed to look and what are you supposed to look for?
It turns out it is Xentilcle version3.icc now how would I or anyone else know that? The creator of the profile originally said "you need to go to an Adobe site to find out the problem because it isn't us", well excuse me I think it was their lack of identification of how the profile shows up.

  • Console Log shows "Unable to read ICC profile", iWeb and Mail crash

    Hi experts
I've a problem with what appears to be my ICC profiles. Mail and iWeb will consistently crash due to this problem. As the subject above says, all Applications will regularly report the following in console.log:
    cmsDataProviderGetBytes : CMCopyProfile: returned -4204
CMSValidateProfile : Unable to read ICC profile
    To reproduce:
    in Mail:
    1) Open Mail and go to Apple Menu > Preferences > Rules
    2) Create a rule with action "Set Color of background" and in the colour picker drop-down menu choose "Other" -> Crash
    in iWeb:
    1) Open iWeb, choose "Welcome" as a template and click "Choose" -> crash
In an attempt to solve the problem, I have tried:
    1) Using ColorSync Utility to fix profiles
    2) Replacing /Library/ColorSync/Profiles from the OS X DVD
    3) Creating a new profile using Display Calibrator Assistant
    4) Creating a new profile using a third party application, SuperCal
    5) Repairing permissions/my startup disk using Disk Utility (doing this last of course)
Does anyone have some other ideas? I don't know whether this is new to 10.4.4 or not.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul.

Have had the same problem when I tried an experiment to get iPhoto to stop adding a color profile on my existing photos without a profile.
I removed the .icc files in /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles and got similar messages in console.log as you do.
Moving the icc. files back made the problem disappear.
What files does your folder mentioned above contain?
Guess you should have the same files as I do.
My folder contains 6 icc. files, including Adobe RGB 1998 and sRGB. Removing these solves my iPhoto fuckup, but as you experience makes other apps crash (like iWeb ..)

  • Can't see the installed icc profiles for my paper in print module

I have downloaded and installed the icc profiles for my favourite Canson and Crane Museo papers on my new Macbook Pro but they don't show up in the options box in the LR 4 print module. Is there another step I have missed? Thanks in advance.

Where did you install the profiles? They should go into
Library/Colorsync/Profiles in your home folder or at the root level of your
hard disk. If you put it in that folder in your home folder, they show up
in user, if you put them in the root Library folder, they show up in
    "Computer" in Colorsync utility

  • How to set "embed icc Profile" option  to export document as JPEG

    Hi All,
While exporting the document as jpeg, through File->Export, there is an option "Embed ICC Profile" as figure shows.
How to set it if I am exporting the document through my program in which I rasterize the document and used
    the sAIImage->AsJPEG(raster, jpegDataFilter, params);
I didn't find any option in AIRasterizeSettings or AIImageOptJPEGParams to set this flag.
plz anyone suggest me how to do so.
    Thanks,
    Rud.

thanks for you through out help.
I use the folowing code which executing properly, but there is no effect on JPEG whether the value of jpegparam.s.jpeg.embedICCProfile is 0 or 1.
    /////Start
    ASOptimizationSettings jpegparam;
    jpegparam.fileFormat = asffJPEG;
    jpegparam.s.jpeg.embedICCProfile = isICCProfileEmbeded;
    ASInt32 optID;
    optID = sAIOptSet->GetUniqueOptimizationSettingsID();
    error = sAIOptSet->SetOptimizationSettings(optID, &jpegparam); // after executing this line error = 0
    /////End
I guess it would  work when we export document as jpeg through AIActionManagerSuite
not with  rasterizing the layer's art and then exporting them as JPEG  using AsJPEG().
    thanks

  • Preview & ICC Profiles

    Hello all,
I've been digging around here and elsewhere for a huge chunk of my day, and I'm having trouble concretely answering a question: Does Preview respect embedded color profile information? If so, why can I not get Preview to display a Photoshop PDF with the same colors? I know color profiling is a huge can of worms, and I know a decent amount about it. I have consistent success with various printing presses returning proofs that are very close to what I expect. I seem, simply, to be misunderstanding the manner in which Preview displays my colors.
My monitors are calibrated, and my colors are consistent outside of this issue. Using the built-in OSX PDF creation generates a PDF that shows the exact colors in Preview as I'm seeing in Photoshop. I'm certain I'm missing something obvious. Thanks in advance for any help. I'm tired of worrying myself over my file output every time I run a quick-check in Preview.
    Thanks again.

So how does color managment work in FCP X when I can´t calibrate my monitor or use icc profiles from a calibration software?

  • CS5 is not seeing existing, custom icc profiles. howto?

Briefly: Mac Pro running Snow Leopard. Upgraded from CS4 to CS5 and my existing, custom icc profiles appear but are unavailable (grayed out)
The profiles are in the usual places: /Library/ColorSync/Profiles
    AND /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles.
I'm the only user and I have Admin privileges.
CS4 still seems to be connected and using my needed profiles.
Bridge, Illustrator and InDesign, either don't see the profile or it is grayed out.
Photoshop sees the profile and allows me to use it as my Ps default.
Any thoughts as to where else to place the profile or how to get Bridge to see it (and therefore sync the other products)?

  • How to get the list of icc profile, which Photoshop loaded?

I am developing a automation plugin, but I do not know how to get the list of icc profile, which photoshop loaded.
I have read the log of "getter" and "Listener",and not find the way to get the list.

    Thank you for you answer.
I find a icc profile has a "internal name" which show in the color setting menu in photoshop and a "external name" which is the file name. And the "internal name" maybe different with "external name".
How I can get the "internal name" from the icc profile? I do not find the information in the ICC Profile Format Specification.
    Thank you very much!

  • Embedding ICC-profiles in pdf

I'm having problems getting InDesign to embed the ICC-profiles for CMYK images when exporting a PDF/X-3 from either CS5 or CS 5.5.
The RGB images all have the correct ICC-profiles, but the CMYK images only show as CMYK in PitStop.
Any ideas how to get this working properly?
I want to use Enfocus PitStop Connect to flightcheck the PDF before sending it to out ftp-server, but due to the ICC-profiles not being embedded properly all files receive an error.

Thanks Shulin but I've already downloaded the acrosdk. The samples work based on plug in functionality to acrobat i.e. they call an api when acrobat runs. I want to write to the pdf file from my own C++ program which is only linked with the XMP toolkit as opposed to a plug-in. I am looking for the same kind of information that was supplied for JPG, TIFF by Adobe, only for PDF.
I've checked the knowledgebase as you suggested and this information is not there.
What are the data structures that need to be modified to stick the XMP packet into a pdf file. Can I just append it to the end of the file?

  • No preview in FCP X when using custom icc profiles

    Hello,
since I switched to Lion 10.7.4 from Snow Leopard I have no preview when I want to playback videos from the event browser. I calibrated my Eizo Display with the latest ColorNavigator6 software using a Spyder4 device. The generated Eizo icc profiles are version 2.2. My second display is calibrated with the Spyder Pro4 Software. This icc profile is v2.4.
What I found out so far:
    - I open System Preferences > Displays > click on "Color" tab and check "Show profiles for this display only". When I change to a profile that is listed everything works fine. But my custom icc profiles both are not available now.
    - when I uncheck "Show profiles for this display only" my custom icc profiles get listed. When I select one of them Final Cut Pro X (10.0.5) doesn´t preview anything and hangs.
    - I compared my custom profiles with one that is listed "for this display only" using ColorSync. The only difference that I found were some missing and different tags in the custom profiles.
Do I have to modify my profiles to work with calibrated Displays in FCP X? How / what do I modify?
    Regards, Thomas

So how does color managment work in FCP X when I can´t calibrate my monitor or use icc profiles from a calibration software?

  • ICC profiles for Epson R1800 and Lightroom - Mac Osx

Without trying to inflame an already heated discussion on prints that are too dark under my lightroom - printer - Mac Osx configuration. (Although I too am a sufferer of the darkness...!)
I have recently downloaded the latest ICC profiles for the R1800 directly from Epson to my Mac. There are three of them and for arguments sake they cover the paper type I want "Premium Glossy Photo Paper"
They download as a .sea file and not .icc as I expected.... My knowledge of Mac's doesnt extend to .sea files I'm afraid.
My question is what do i do with the file now that its downoaded?... Nothing happens when you double click on it and It doesnt appear to try to find where to install itself.
On another thread I read about dropping these files into Library - Colorsync - Profiles. They sit there happily but do not appear to show up in Lightroom when I wish to utilise the profiles.
All the original Epson profiles are there from when I installed the Epson Drivers (new and updated) but no new profiles are there. This is definitely the case as the profile "Premium Glossy Photo Paper" is still there but its name should be changed to "Premium Photo Paper Glossy" according to the Epson website... Besides.. If I delete the new files and go back into Lightroom nothing has changed.
Am i placing these files in the wrong area?
    Many thanks for any replies

I suspect that some R1800 users have perhaps not tackled the issue of dark prints and may not be feel that they have an issue at all. I also believe that this particular issue only involves Intel Mac's which may not apply to some.
Your issue may have something to do with the printer driver as well... I made sure that I went and found the very latest driver that Epson has out (there is a new one specifically for Intel Mac's). I made sure that I deleted the driver that came with the original disk.... I did this via the "printer setup utility"... then downloaded and installed the new driver.
Only then did I go through the procedure for installing the new icc profiles as discussed...
The profiles should then automatically appear in Lightroom and in colosync in the "Finder" screen under:
" Users" > then whatever your computer name is > Library > Colorsync > Profiles
The new profiles should then be seen.
This is certainly the way I did it and perhaps the whole process has to be gone through for an Intel Mac.
Hope this helps... I am nowhere near a computer expert but it worked for me.

  • ICC profiles needed

Hi, I give up. I want to follow this procedure as found on the HP website:
HP Printers -  Using ICC Profiles for Color Photos in Adobe Photoshop. However, after two days of searching I have been unable to locate the HP ICC profiles for my printer, paper and ink type, all HP products. They are not currently listed in the drop down profiles of step 3 in the above article. Some older deskjet models are all that are there. I am looking for the ICC profiles for:
    Printer: HP Photosmart C6380
Paper:  HP Premium Plus Photo Paper Soft Glossy Q5450A
    Ink:  HP Vivera Inks.
Does anyone have a link to where they are located? Thank you!!
    This question was solved.

Creating Custom ICC Profiles for Color Photos
       1.
Select File , then Print with Preview . (Photoshop 6 and prior: select File , then Print .)
       2.
Select the Show More Options check box, and Color Management from the drop-down menu.
       3.
In the Profile menu, select Same as Source .
The printer driver must also be configured to properly use custom profiles. Use the steps below to configure the printer driver.
       1.
Select File , Print , and then Properties , Color .
       2.
Select Managed by application from the Color management menu.
       3.
Click on the Paper/Quality tab and select the appropriate paper type from the Type is menu.
       4. Click OK , and then OK again to print.
NOTE:     The paper type must be selected in the printer software even when creating a profile. Maximum ink volume limits are determined by the paper-type selection, not through the ICC profile.
With these settings, a print without any color management intervention from either the printer driver or the application will be produced. This print is suitable for measurement and profile creation
                        OR
Using ICC Profiles for Color Photos in Adobe Photoshop
       1.
Select File , then Print with Preview . (For Photoshop 6 and prior select File , and then Print ).
       2.
For Photoshop 7 and CS, in the Print with Preview dialog, select the Show More Options checkbox, and Color Management from the menu.
       3.
In the Profile menu, select the profile that corresponds to the printer, paper type, and ink set.
       4.
Set the ICC rendering intent in the Intent menu. Most users will want to use the Perceptual intent to give the most subjectively pleasing color reproduction.
       5.
Checking the Use Black Point Compensation box is also recommended.
The printer driver must also be configured to properly use the profile.
NOTE:     If you select an ICC profile for your printer under Print with Preview in Adobe Photoshop that selection will be retained, even when later using the Photoshop Print or Print one Copy functions instead of Print with Preview . If you want to return to using the default sRGB mode after using ICC profiles, you must go back into the Print with Preview menu and select either sRGB or Same as Source as your printer profile. If the profile setting in Photoshop is not consistent with the printer driver settings, wrong colors will result.
