    Hey Denialist
Have you tried to remove some saved web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some phone memory to do this select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache. Hopefully that will help speed up your phone again, please let me know if you continue having problems.

  • Time Machine/disk full problem

Time Machine, which has worked perfectly since i bought my Mac back in 07, has stopped backing up. The disk that I have been using for backups has become full. For a short period it was removing old backups in order to do a new backup but has now stopped doing that and my last one was January 11. What is the best course of action? Manually deleting old backups?
Edit: It looks like it is trying to delete old backups, but deletes one which isn't enough.

Thanks, I followed the advice to uninstall the incomplete backup file and that seemed to be working nicely. However, while I was watching the backup progress - Backing up X of Y - as X got close to Y, Y started getting bigger. So as a result it is running out of disc space. I verified by hard disk and it passed without a problem. I suppose I could just go ahead and delete some to make more space so that when the backup starts getting bigger than expected it still has enough space.

  • Star Up Disk "full" problems...Which private/var files can I delete?

I have been having issues with my start up disk being full.
To the point where I could not copy to my clipboard as I had ZERO space left, programmes were shutting down etc.
I couldn't even delete the few pics I had as I couldn't open my Kodak software.
I have uploaded the photos now and deleted them, I have copied all the files I can to sticks, there is basically nothing I have added on the computer, yet I still have only under 700 MB of space on my HD.
I have downloaded and run Omni Disk...it is telling me I have 130GB of "private/var" files.
I know I cannot just go around deleting things, so need to know what I can and cant delete if possible?
I really need to sort this problem out!
I also need to know how to fix this problem from happening again - is this a log problem or what exactly?
Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hi, Limeslice
just to make sure that there is not a dum mistake: did you empty the trash?.
    Other:
Disk space consumers are typically large photo libraries, music and video files.
back them up, then delete them, and don't forget to empty the trash.
    To find large directories :
open Terminal (under applications/utilities), then type "du -d 1 -h" (without quotation marks). this gives a list. for example, it says " 25G ./Pictures", it means that the Picture directory has 25 GB. you can then refine and ask for deeper levels, by typing "du -d 2 -h" or "du -d 3 -h".
Try to find out in this way. if this doesn't give you the correct hint, please, report back, there might be more complex problems.
    Success, Thomas

  • How do i solve the 'start up disk almost full' problem?

when i turn on my macbook air, it comes up with a warning message that says 'start up disk almost full' and that i need to clear some space, how do i do this?

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Annoying Cache-Full Problems when Launching Business Rules

    Hello,
We are using Planning 1.1.1.3 with Essbase 11.1.1.3.000.
I am not sure whether it is suitable place to ask this problem. If this is the wrong place to post, please kindly let me know.
Our client encountered a lot of data cache full errors recently, but the cache is set as usual and no significant change in BRs discovered.
To better tune the cache settings and BR launch procedure, I would like to know the answers to below questions:
    1. Is there any garbage collection mechanism related to Essbase cache?
If we encountered data cache full error, we can only feel confident before next BR execution after restart the application and see the cache return to 0. But I think it stupid because we shouldn't have to manually reset the cache. Is there any official document or explanation about cache release mechanism of Essbase cache?
    2. How big is enough?
We set the data cache for this application as 4G and MEMSCALINGFACTOR 2, so it should be 8G total data cache assigned. I wondered is there any guideline about how big the cache should be regarding to the dimension size, fix range, calculation function and so on?
    3. Do other operations also use up Essbase cache?
For example, opening a 5000-row ad-hoc excel form, 100 users submitting data at the same time...
Please help and thanks in advance for any answers!

    Thank you John,
We have found that it is the entity dimension that should be responsible to this problem.
I remember we have encountered this kind of problem before when we aggregate an application with the entity dimension hierarchy mixed with shared and stored instances of the same level 0 members. To put it simple, there are three members under "Entity" dimension member, which represents different view of entity hierarchies of same level 0 members. the first one has stored level 0 entity members while the other two have shared ones. And at that time, our client added another hierarchy with shared level 0 members, but they did not put this tree under "Entity" dimension member directly, but rather put it under the first child of "Entity", which is the one with stored level 0 members.
It is a little bit confusing to describe the situation only by text. Anyway, at that time, the first hierarchy had both stored and shared instances of the same group of level 0 members. And the data cache is always full when aggregating. and after we moved the forth hierarchy to another tree so under that hierarchy the level 0 members are all shared instances, the aggregation worked flawlessly.
I wondered why this happened and consider this is related to detailed calculation logic of Essbase. May you shed some light on this topic? Thank you with all my heart!
    Warm Regards,
    John

  • E71 Memory Full Problem

    Hi,
I have brand new Nokia E71 White with latest firmware available on NSU (110.07.127, 09-10-2008).
After few days of using it I found out that I cannot use "HELP" option from Nokia main menu and trying to realize what is the problem I discovered that I cannot use "HELP" option in any installed application (Handy Weather, Best reminder and many others.
Every time I want to use "help" whether is Nokia´s help or any other application I get memory full error.
This is frustrating. Anyone can help?
    Regards

this probably is a case of a bug in ur device so what u can try are: plz make a back up
take out your sim card and put in *#7780# to restore factory settings. you should not lose any data, but all settings will go into default. try that first.
the second option is a reset *#7370# this one will erase all of your data, 'wipe the phone clean' and restore to factory settings. see if any of these options work and if you are able to use your phone as you like/need to.
the third option U can go in for a hard reset which will turn ur device as it left the factory totally new
'*' '3' 'Call Key' and Power button all pressed at the same time and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. After u have removed ur phone battery for at least 5 mins.

  • [Radeon] X600XT mem frequencie problem!

    I have : MSI 915G combo, MSI X600XT,P4 520, 2x512 Corsair Value DDR2 533, PSU Enermax 565..., 2xSATA Seagate 200 and 80G(OS), CDR LG
    My problems starts here:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=83568
Later, i find out my real problem and it's not the cooler.
The mem of my X600XT cant go higher than 295. The default value is 368! Setted to 300 and a few artfacts show up, 295 is just fine.
I dont have any problem with the card but, when i START the PC, the VGA is setted to default value and in 100% of times my PC freezes. After the black screem(10 sec) the Ati tool starts and automaticaly set the frequencie to 295 and everything is back to normal.
Sometimes the freezes disable the 3D acceleration and VPU couldnt recover it and i must restart(to a new freeze).
I'm wondering if is there some way to lock the memory frequencie by bios or other way(so i can sell it!!!)?
If no...How can i make Ati Tool starts faster than others softs? How can i make it the first thing to start?
    Many thankx

If the memory is indeed faulty on that card, no telling how it happened. You said you have this problem for months, but was it working correctly ever?
It is possible you damaged something by ESD... That may not be all that could have been affected :shrugs:
Glen I like the fishy thing better than the idiotic face that was there.
BTW my ATi(see sig) is the same rubbish. I had the same problems and it was that by default the fan reaches 100%RPM after 95'C. So I had similar crashes and freezings. And looking at the ratusnatus' cooler I guess he has had the same problems but maybe he damaged the card already. Anyway this rubbish cannot get decent frames for F.E.A.R and the nVidia 6800 series can (ref. Tom's Hardware review recently). And it was cheaper you know at the time i bought mine....  :-(

  • NI9217 FIFO Full problem

Hello all, I've run into a bit of a problem using DMA FIFO to pass data to my RT host and I'm hoping someone might be able to see where I'm going wrong.  I'm using a cRIO-9002/9102 chassis with NI 9217 RTD modules.  I've attached my FPGA VI for reference.  I've set up 2 target-host DMA FIFOs, one for grabbing my module calibration values and one for passing the actual RTD values.  The first is set (right now) for 15 elements (only need 8 at the moment), and the second for 7 (only need 4 at the moment).  FIFO 1 is running on DMA channel 0 and FIFO 2 is running on DMA channel 1.  As far as I can tell, I've set everything up correctly, but I have two problems.  First, everything seems to run just fine when I'm only passing 8 values to my 15 element FIFO, or 4 to my 7 element FIFO, but eventually I'm going to want to do a bit more dynamic data transfers and make use of the FIFO Full flag, which doesn't appear to work at the moment.  I've padded my first data array with 8 zeros, so I'm trying to pass 16 elements to a 15 element FIFO, and the FIFO Full never trips to True, and my VI hangs right there...any idea what I've done wrong here?  The second question is that in my host VI, when I read the 8 elements from the FIFO (normal operation, just 8 elements and no padded zeros) I use an unbundle to break out all the individual values.  The problem is that the unbundle is sizing itself to 9 elements instead of 8 and I'm not sure why...is this something to do with the 0 based indexing of the FIFO? I'd thought that the 'Number of Elements' on the FIFO Read block was the total number but maybe its the index to read up to?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Greg-
I'm glad the info helped.  As far as using index array and decimate array, there are cases where each makes sense.  If you only need a single sample of data such as when you are reading your Cal Data FIFO, the index array makes the most sense.  The index array lets you index out more than one point at a time, so you shouldn't need a loop.  Just grow it to pull out the data you need - in your case, it looks like you are writing 8 elements of Cal data (or 16 if you keep the padding with zeros at the end), so you could just grow your index array to look like the following
Note it is not necessary to have inputs on the left-hand side.  By default it starts at index 0 and continues in order (1, 2, 3, etc.).
If you are looking more for a buffer of data, decimate array can be very useful.  It takes the one large array and divides it back out to several small arrays.  So you could read 1000 points from your RTD Data FIFO (250 samples per channel) and decimate it out to 4 arrays, 1 for each channel.   Again, it is a growable structure so just make it match the number of channels you are pushing in on the FPGA side:

  • MSI KT3 Ultra ARU Mem timing problems?

As experienced by myself as well as Maximum PC Magazine during testing. Using high quality memory such as Samsung PC2700 DDR on the MSI KT3 Ultra ARU, if you set the cas latency timings to the most agressive settings, next time you try to boot into Windows, your OS crashes and the registry gets corrupted. Also the board actually interprets CAS 2.5 memory as CAS 2. I am sure a BIOS update will fix this problem, however who else has had this problems?

  • Disk Full problem, likely related to extraneous printing files - need help!

I won't go into all the details, but have noticed that over the past couple of months, I've been losing space from my internal 500gb drive at surprising clips. After hard disk full warnings recently, eliminated about 50gb by dumping to dvds. Surprisingly, then again this weekend, hard disk full warnings.
Using 10.3.9 to search for files over a certain size, e.g., 100MB, I was still baffled at why my disk was full, as there weren't enough large files to justify filling up the 500gb (couldn't figure out how to do a search by folder size that gave meaningful results). Decided to do a backup to my 500 gb external HD using SilverKeeper v1.1.3, and noticed that there are thousands or tens of thousands of files in the path HD/Previous Systems/var/tmp/xxxxxxxxxxx. not sure of the number of digits but many have numbers like 490ca.....or 490d03f......(since I've been looking, it looks like all start with the 490..., but vary after that, although might not be watching closely enough). After about 50gb of new data was copied, I aborted the copy operation.
Other observations: oddly enough appears the vast majority (at least the ones I was looking at being copied) are at the same size of 2.322 MB or 184KB. Also, took me awhile to figure out, but these are hidden files. When I search using the finder for invisible files with the name "490" I get results of over 17000 files (less than number of files copied using SilverKeeper) and the file sizes are 2.2MB or 184KB (maybe these are the same due to rounding). These are identified in the path HD/private/var/tmp/490xxxxx..... these appear to be different than what I observed during the HD copying (again, I wasn't looking the whole time). Almost all of these 17k+ files were written during 8 hours on Nov. 1, 2008 - looks like dozens per minute, and when I select all, get info, amount to over 20.44 GB, so maybe still not all the files I saw in my aborted copy operation. All of these files appear to be of the "Document" kind. at the end of this post are excerpts from some of the files. Appear to be related to pdf printing.
I cant' tell where all these files are, what they are, or how they got there. I've reviewed a bunch of the articles on discussion boards, and can't find any direct solutions (at least that would appear to help with this situation). Of course I simply want to delete these apparently duplicative and meaningless files. Any help appreciated!

    Hi Peter,
Why these temporary files are being created I don't know, but there is some malfunction in your printing system (software side).
Have you tried simply trashing those files from the Finder, or do you think there are too many of them to do it manually?
    _Manual method:_
Open Finder > Go > Go to folder, and type in
    /var/tmp
Then you can select them in groups and drag them to the trash.
You will be asked for your Admin password each time you move some to the trash.
Every so often empty your trash, to regain the space.
Another method is to use the Terminal Application, but some people are a bit wary of that application. Ask for directions if you are willing to try that.
Having removed those files, monitor your printing, or save as .pdf actions, and check again that folder in Finder to try and locate which action or process is responsible for creating those runaway temporary files there, because they are likely to be created again.

  • Start disk full problem

When I open photoshop or attempt to sync my iphone, I get the message, that my start disk is full. I can move music, but I can't upload my pictures. I considered using Mackeeper but I see here that it might not be a good idea. Any suggestions?

    Empty the Trash.
In the Finder, select your hard drive on the desktop, and do a "Get Info".
What is the capacity of your drive?
How much free space do you have?
If it is less than 10-15% free, its time for a larger drive.
