Ice Cream sandwich + Stage Text = no go?

My boss just got the new Google Nexus giant screen phone, I believe the first phone to run the ice cream sandwich OS.
Anyhow he tried an app we put out recently and it ran fine on all the phones and tablets we tested it on but on ICS once the submit button is hit and stage text is due to appear the whole screen goes white, swipe gestures still work and the other frames work fine that do not have stage text, its the only thing I can think of.
I will try to rebuild the app using no stage text but its a huge annoyance. If anyone wants to check out the app you can get it at the below link.
https://market.android.com/details?id=air.com.toyotaforklift.calculatorphone
or
https://market.android.com/details?id=air.com.toyotaforklift.calculatortablet
Not sure if the new crazy high res screen phone is considered a Large or XLarge screen by android.
I believe the app was built with AIR 3.0, dont think I have this pc on 3.1 yet, might be worth a shot.

Something on these lines:
import flash.desktop.NativeApplication;
import flash.system.Capabilities;
import flash.events.*;
import flash.display.StageOrientation;
private var startOrientation:String = stage.orientation;
if (Capabilities.cpuArchitecture == "ARM") {
     NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, handleActivate, false, 0, true);
     NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, handleDeactivate, false, 0, true);
private function handleActivate(event:Event):void {
     stage.setOrientation(startOrientation);
private function handleDeactivate(event:Event):void {
The idea is to set the orientation to what it was when the app started, and trust that Flash managed to start it in the right orientation. You could wait for a resize event before setting that value, if you run into trouble.
The reason you can't use:
stage.setOrientation(StageOrientation.ROTATED_RIGHT);
is because that orientation is landscape on Android phones and some tablets, but portrait on other tablets.

  • Air3.2 CameraRoll on a Nexus S with Ice Cream Sandwich doesn't work!

    Hi,
    When trying to use cameraRoll on a Nexus S with Ice Cream Sandwich I get a message "No External Storage Available" and then it cancels out and returns to my app. I can see the camera roll loading behind the message. I just can't get to it...
    Is anyone else having this problem?
    I've got a Nexus S that hasn't been updated to Ice Cream Sandwich and the cameraRoll works like it should.
    We were meant to be deploying this app tommorow but this is a big problem.
    Has anyone else experience this? Got any fixes?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Uhm.. i got the same problem (allmost). Can not confirm that it is External storage problem since i only get this error:
    [ErrorEvent type="error" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2038: File I/O Error." errorID=2038]
    2038 probably means something with storage.
    this is just amazing, client will be expecting to test the application within few days, and im stuck with AIR which doesnt communicate with ICS.
    btw im on air 3.3...

  • Firefox sync not working with android 4.0 (ice cream sandwich)

    Okay i'll try to explain this as best as i can. Over the weekend i installed the new android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich...before hand firefox sync (from my desktop to my cell phone) was working fine. I could see all of my bookmarks and all of my history. However, once i installed the new OS i was unable to see any of my information! When i go into the sync and accounts page on my android i see my FF sync account and i have told it to sync a number of times...but it still doesn't work! Also, on the main page of the FF app on my android there is no account information at the bottom on the page like there was pre 4.0 install. Is there anything i can do to fix the problem? Or will i have to re-add the account when I get back home from being out of town?

    Hard to say. Most of my experience has been with the Thunderbolt and I don't know anything about the Stratosphere. Part of it will probably depend on the manufacturer, Verizon and what phone you have. Some manufacturers get updates out faster than others. Then Verizon may hold on to it until they test it, which may not matter much judging by the Thunderbolt releases. And also, some phones will get it before others. Which phones come before others may not make sense to anyone except the manufacturer and Verizon and maybe not them. Sometimes it seems more like a lottery. I'm only guessing that the newer, dual core phones will probably get it first since I think ICS is suppose to run better on them. I could be wrong, and often am, but I'm not expecting the Bolt to get it, but I've retired mine anyway.
    Verizon will usually put out a notice when it's planning on releasing an upgrade for your phone and if you follow any Android forums, most of them will post it also, so it's not usually a secret. . The last updates the Bolt got were pushed to us if we didn't download it first. The only way not to get it seemed to be if you happened to be watching when it started so you could stop it, but since you have to sleep sometime, eventually you'd get it whether you wanted it or not. Not sure if that will be the case with ICS though.
    They might surprise us and get it out this month, or as AZSALUKI said, 2-3 months. You can hope for sooner, but expecting later will decrease your stress levels.

  • After Ice Cream Sandwich update - Can't control e-mail appearance - just want subject to appear

    I think before the ice cream sandwich update I could control in Settings whether I wanted 1 line or 2 lines or just the subject to appear in my e-mail.  I can't figure out where to find that setting and its appearing with the entire subject and the first 2 lines so that I can see less of my e-mail on the phone, only 6 e-mails actually load and 5 are visible at a time on the screen.  Then you would have to hit load more e-mails to see more e-mails.
    Please help.

    I am not expert in these, but please check out the following things and see whether it would solve your issue. (All these changes can be easily rolled back in case I'm wrong :). So make note of what you do)
    As per your httpd.conf, you have chosen an automatic configuration of Apache by OWCI installer itself. What it does is create an imageserver.conf file in a separate directory and these settings will be included in your httpd.conf as you can see in the first line: Include "C:/bea/alui/plumtreeconf/".
    If you check the imageserver.conf in that location, you would find a line like: Alias /imageserver/ "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/". This aliases the original path "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/" to /imageserver"
    To confirm whether this is done right, check the following:
    1. Acces 'http://<server ip / server name / localhost >/' from your browser
    This should display the Apache home page (as per your httpd.conf, it uses the default port 80; so no port number required)
    2. Access 'http://<server ip>/imageserver/' from your browser
    This should display the directory structure (if its not disabled) inside your 'C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/' folder. Also confirm that all the subfolders are accessible.
    3. If all the above is right, it means that your imageserver settings are right. Please check your portalconfig.xml for the correct settings: For example, <setting name="HTTPPort"> should be 7001 in your case. If its something else, change it and restart Weblogic for the settings to take effect.
    Hope this helps.

  • ICS Issues after upgrade-This Ice Cream Sandwich is not very tasty

    Background: I received the  ICS upgrade last night and right away started having issues:.
    Issues:
    1 The downloading lasted several hours. I finally had to pull the battery and forced a reboot.
    2-Once I got on and started selecting different apps I noticed that Gallery or pic apps  and Music apps are having problems loading any of my files.  It constantly produces forced close statement.
    3-My battery is having difficulty getting to full charge. For the record, I didn't have any issues with my battery or apps prior to the upgrade install.
    Comments: I'm not too happy with the update. I didn't request this upgrade and  was happy with my phone just the way it was. In short; I had zero issues prior to this upgrade. .
    Questions:
    1-Am I the only one having these problems?
    2-Is Verizon aware and will they be providing a fix for all these issues?
    3-Is there somewhere I can get help with these issues?
    Venting statement: Would you guys please thoroughly test the upgrades before you send them out to the masses?
    Thank you for letting me vent. Now can someone please give me a workable solution?
    Signed: Not finding this Ice Cream Sandwich very tasty

    Well my first advice to you would be, when it asked you if you wanted to upgrade you could have said no.
    The update OTA I had found is or was just too many people trying to update or did not follow the update guidelines. Must have at least 40% battery on the device. Better yet it should have been plugged into the wall electric. No turning the phone off.
    I must say on my own update it was downloading slowly and taking over an hour just to reach 20% and then crapping out with a network error while downloading message.
    you can and should just use Verizons Upgrade Assistant to get your update. I went that route and it took 7 minutes to get the needed files on my computer, and another 9 minutes to have it auto install the update on my phone.
    please note do not turn your phone off even after the download finishes. Just keep it connected and on and it will scan your media card for photos, apps, music and make things work faster and better. you will note the phone will restart on its own when fully updated.

  • Cisco Jabber for Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich)?

    Hi,
    I'm curious to know if there are any plans to make an Android 4 version of the Cisco Jabber client. If so, do you have any estimates on release date?
    Best regards,
    Pauli

    So the Case with TAC came to nothing. Tehy finally came back with the list of the 3devices that they support and nothing more. Here's their response:
    "This is a follow up to our conversation over the phone. I apologize for the inconvenience with regard to the compatibility of the Jabber for Android client. I hope that I have provided the support that you expected. Below is the link to the release notes which talks about the supported devices with Jabber for Android -

    "Requirements for users and devices
    The following Android devices are supported:
    *Samsung Galaxy S International (GT-I9000) with Android 2.2.1 or 2.3
    *Samsung Galaxy Tab International (GT-P1000) with Android 2.2.1 or 2.3
    *Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) with Android 2.3"
    I will resolve this case now, but don't hesitate to contact GTC or contact me directly
      anytime if you have any further issues. Thanks again for all your time and patience.
    It was a pleasure working with you."
    It was more than a little disappointing to say the least!

  • I have a pendo pad 4.0 multitouch 9.7- ice cream sandwich

    what version of adobe flash player do i need ?  please help.  i'm trying to downloadad fb games. i can get the apps but they wont open

    It's Android...
    There is no more Flash Player for Android and there won't be another. Android is no longer compatible with Flash Player. Playing Flash content is very processor consumptive and it drains your battery, also shortening the life of it. Android (Google) recommends using either "Dolphin" or "Puffin" as your browser if you need to view Flash content with a mobile device running Android. They're both availabe in the GooglePlay store. These browsers use "server side" rendering to reduce the load on your device.

  • New Droid Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System is Huge Leap Backwards

    I loved my Droid Bionic up until two days ago when the phone prompted me to press OK to perform an update. I reasonably assumed this would be a background bug fix, but much to my dismay my phone now has a new operating system which has lots of problems such as:
    More than doubles screen touches needed to access phone and other apps
    Doubles screen touches to answer phone
    Back button on phone dialer screen is smaller and no longer works well
    Name of party is no longer listed when in conversation
    Big blank face appears on phone screen
    Phone search function does not start with letters entered. Instead it shows entries starting with letter A-Z that also contain the letters entered
    Screen is now too dark to read in sunshine
    Cannot adjust ring volume from first screen
    Turning Settings On & Off no longer works very well
    Time display is smaller & greys out after initial screen touch
    No way to customize initial screen for apps most used
    Speech recognition does not work very well anymore
    Motorola says there is no way to go back to the old operating system once you have updated.
    I think Motorola updates should include a WARNING about interface changes or updates. Any new operating system should allow user to switch between old style & new style interface just like Windows
    They should only send out updates for background bugs and fixes. They could offer a notification about optional operating system updates with full description of what will be changed.

    I had my first experience with ICS on my sons Maxx. I tried it for a few days and LOVED it.  I was so jealous that his phone had it and my Bionic was stuck on GB. When I finally got ICS, I was almost doing backflips. Sop far to date my Bionic with ICS has worked Flawlessly. All of the issues I had with GB are gone. No Data drops at all. If I had to do it all over again right now, I would hit the install button without hesitation.
    ICS can do so much more then GB ever could and I disagree with the comments about double the clicking to answer calls etc... There are just as many clicks in the use of ICS as there were in GB. Besides being able to Disable Bloatware (a huge plus for any phone) the processor got a 20% boost in clock speed. Better Multi Tasking, easier navigation and the apps seem to work better on ICS.
    I have to agree

    The DROID RAZR and the DROID RAZR MAXX by Motorola will be the first 4G LTE smartphones on the Verizon Wireless network to be Global Ready.
    The upgrade, which will begin on June 22, will also upgrade all smartphones in the DROID RAZR family to the popular Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
    Ice Cream Sandwich features upgraded functionality and new features, such as Face Unlock. By looking directly at the screen, the smartphone recognizes its owner and automatically unlocks the device. It also includes Direct Access Lock Screen, which allows you to easily open camera, text messages, and dialer from the lock screen.
    Customers can use the front camera to video chat with friends and family to share summer stories or even just to wave hello. The new Video Calling icon makes it easy to access video chatting apps like ooVoo and Tango.
    The upgrade also enhances the voice input technology, typing your words as you speak emails or texts. Speak continuously for paragraphs at a time, add punctuation and even edit mistakes with voice input.
    As a Global Ready device, customers with the DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX will be able to have voice and data service in more than 220 countries, when subscribed to an international plan.
    Additional information on the ICS upgrade can be found on the DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX by Motorola support page."

  • No Ice Cream

    If Verizon cannot upgrade my Driod Bionic to Ice cream sandwich. then they need to swap me even for a phone that will. at no extra charge

    Early 3rd quarter....yeah right.  When are we going to see it.  This is crap!  I bought my phone a year ago and still waiting.  Verizon may not care because they blame Motorola for the delay, Motorola blames Verizon.  Maybe I should switch to Sprint and go with an iPhone!  This is the dumbest thing ever!!!!  Verizon did the same thing with the Samsung Fascinate that I had.  Which is why I switched to Motorola.  Guess I can see the common trend here.  Verizon.  You have great customer service, but your ability to get a software upgrade out in a timely fashion SUCKS!

  • Mac mini mini cooper ice cream truck-upgrade to iphone?

    have a mac mini PPC g4 installed in a mini cooper ice cream truck.
    the lcd touchscreen and carnetix power supply kinda suck.
    I'm using the touchscreen as a point of sale inventory system to keep track of stock/slaes, but screen is not bright enough to overcome daylight readability.
    I'm thinking of swapping out the 7" monitor with a iphone or ipod touch with some sort of point of sale application. I'd like to then just use the mac mini as an external drive for the iphone. is that too crazy? have i finally gone over the edge in modifications? is there such an application available?

    In addition to glare films, you might also try a monitor hood, a la these:
    http://www.photodon.com/p/105.html
    I doubt that you'll find one premade for a 7" monitor, but it wouldn't be hard to construct and mount one with some cardboard and velcro/double-sided tape.
    The only actual point-of-sale app I can find in the App Store is Ring It Up:
    http://www.pingysoft.com/site/RingItUp.html
    Here's the URL to it in the iTunes Store: RingItUp.
    There's also a Lite version, though I don't know what the differences are.

  • Flex Mobile 4.6 introduces Stage Text - how do you render HTML text with it?

    I have a little chat component in a Flex Mobile app that I just upgraded to SDK 4.6.  The chat component has a text area displaying messages and they are HTML formatted via the following:
    StyleableTextField(textArea).htmlText += myHTMLText;
    Worked in SDK 4.5 but StyleableTextField is not a part of the new Stage Text framework introduced in SDK 4.6.
    How do I HTML format the messages in my chat text area now?

    Thanks much for your response.
    Hmmm...  That appears to work but also causes a runtime exception where there was none before the 4.6 upgrade.  It occurs when I autoscroll on receiving a new message in the chat, something that worked fine in 4.5.
    I guess I'm kind of wondering what the best practice is here.  Maybe I'm just doing this wrong altogether.  I'm finding it very difficult to implement probably one of the most basic features one would find in any collaborative app - something that was very easy in Flex 3 - the chat pane.  I've had one functioning fine for about 3 years.  Not so much in Flex mobile.
    Chat is very simple functionality.  When you receive a new message from afar...
    1.  add it to a TextArea with some nice formatting
    2.  auto scroll far enough so the user can see the new message in its entirety.
    Nothing difficult at all.
    Why are these two things difficult to find in the TextArea in Flex mobile?  It almost seems as though it's something we're not supposed to be doing?
    The answer here seems to be don't use Stage Text.  Revert to an older TextArea skin.  Why?  What text area doesn't need formatting as an option?  What text area doesn't need to be auto scrolled here and there?  Or am I just going about this wrong?  Maybe using the wrong components?
    I guess for now I can revert to 4.5 skin, but now the code I used to auto scroll on receiving a new message throws a null pointer exception.  I've been using the valueCommit property to auto scroll, as follows:
    valueCommit="textArea.scroller.verticalScrollBar.value = textArea.scroller.verticalScrollBar.maximum"
    Haven't had a problem prevously.  But this now throws:
    TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
              at com.components::ChatWindow/__textArea_valueCommit()
    What's the best practice to accomplish this and also to be able to take advantage of the latest and greatest?
