IChat 4.0 won't automatically make user available after Computer wakes up

iChat changes my status to away when my computer goes asleep. When it wakes up, it stays on the away status and does not automatically change to Available. In iChat preferences, I have checked "Set my status to Available" under the "When I return to my computer, if I set my status to Away:" But it doesn't work. I still have to go to iChat and manually change my status.

LV doesn't have any sort of Startup folder as we are a little concerned
about the security issues this brings about. You can specify VIs on the
command line for LV to open. And VIs can be set to run when opened.
Combining these features, you wind up using the system's Startup folder,
placing either a batch file or a shortcut to LV with the command line
options added to list out the VIs, and finally, set the VI properties
so
that the VIs run when opened.

Replication between publish1 to publish2 instances to make users available on both instances.

we need to make 2 publish environments with load balancer, if a user register on the website, his details would be stored in CRX only on one publish instance, if the second request goes to other publish instance then there would be a issue as his details would not be available there. this is the reason i want to make the users to be available on both publish instances so that there would not be any issue.
Could you please help me how to make the users available on both publish instances. we have 2 publish instances, user profile details would be stored in the CRX of one publish instance, i want to make this user profile details to be available in other publish instance also.
/home/users folder need to be replicated upon node creation or modification between both publish instances.
Request you to please help me to know if we can replicate users between publish instances directly? or do we need to reverse replicate to author first and replicate to publish.
another issue if i replicate to author and then publish1 and publish2 : we have only one author for 3 data centers(3 diff servers) ; if i use reverse replication to autor and replication to publish1 and publish2 then the user informaiton would be replicated to all 3 data centers which is not permitted by the client. can we directly replicate the users between publish1 to publish2 instances? if yes, please help me.

The steps to move from publish1 to publish2 instance without replicating to author is
1 Setup replication agent in each publish instance.
2 Create Workflow Model to activate the user.
3 Configure Workflow Launcher to listen for new registration & call the model created in step2. Please note:- In launcher you need to set condition to avoid infinite loop & especially with modification.
If you could file a daycare we can understand your requirement better & discuss prons/cons & can come up with proposing right implementation.

What is the best way to automatically delete user profiles after x days of inactivity (school lab environment)?

I work at a school where we have multiple Mac Carts that have 30 MacBooks per cart. We image the macs every summer to delete the older user profiles but we are looking for way to possible have this done automatically through out the year to help with HDD space. What is the best way to delete user profiles after...say 180 days.... of inactivity automatically? I am open to login hooks, bash scripts, etc. Anything to get the job done. Thanks for any help or advice.

It appears that the script posted will do as advertised though I would test it out on your systems and under your conditions to see if it does do what you need.

G5 Won't automatically go to sleep after installing Leopard

I have my power savings prefs set to about 5 mins to put my G5 to sleep.
I checked to see if this was working on Tiger immediately before upgrading to Leopard.
Now that I've upgraded to leopard my G5 won't automatically go to sleep. I can force it to sleep from the menu bar.
I have tried switching time machine off, and that doesn't have any effect.
Has anyone got any ideas that would help me to get my power saving sleep setting to work again?
The reason that I need it on my G5 is that where I have it positioned does no have wonderful ventilation and it tends to get a bit hot if I leave it on all day.
Hence the power save/sleep is a feature that I really use a lot!

Another thing to check is whether you have DVD Player open. This will prevent your Mac from going to sleep.
If this is not the case, the next step would be to reset your NVRAM. You can find instructions on how to do this by reading this article:

After dowloading the newest software update and performing a firmware update for my Airport router, my Imac won't connect to Wifi automatically after waking from sleep mode

Please re-download and install the 10.7.3 update. You can locate it at 10.7.3 (Client Combo). Follow the on-screen instructions. Then test it out, if you still have the same problem please restart, when you hear the startup tone hold down the Option Key and then choose the Recovery Partition. Then open Disk Utilities and Repair Disk Permissions 2x. Then exit DU, restart normally and re-test.

Automatically disable user accounts after specific number days Oracle Apps

Is there a way, using group policy or any other method to automatically disable a user account if it hasnt been used (ie,, no has logged on using that account) after a certain amount of days??
This is something I would like to apply enterprise wide, so setting expiry dates on each users object is out, and obviously I only want to apply this to inactive accounts.

There is no such profile option. However, you can write a code to check LAST_LOGON_DATE in FND_USER table and based on this you can disable/lock the account.

Wiki won't accept OD user logins after upgrading to server 3.1.1

I have an OS X server 3.x running on OS X 10.9.3. I have several WiKi users, most are OpenDirectory (neiwork) users and one is a 'local' user. Prior to the weekend I was running Server 3.0.3 and all was good. Since uograding to Server 3.1.1 none of the network/OD users can log in to their Wikis. The local user can log in just fine. The network users can log in to all their other servcies (Mail, Calendar,Contacts, SMB/AFP shares etc.) just fine. They can also log into my regular SSL web-site which requires passwords. Only the wiki login is broken.
In the collabd.dlog file I see:

Okay, this problem has re-surfaced (on server 3.1.2). Here are the symptoms:
1.    It only affects network (Open Directory) users. It affects all network users.
2.    It only affects the Wiki service; OD users can authenticate for all other services (Mail, Contacts, Calendar, VPN, Time Machine, OS X login on client machines) without problem.
3.    Stopping and restarting the Wiki Servcie and the OD servcie does not fix the problem, but rebooting the server does. Things will then be fine for a while (I have not yet quantified how long 'a while' is) and then the problems occurs again.
4.    When the problem is present, even a newly created user cannot login to the Wiki servcie.
5.    When the login failure occurs, the collabd.log file contains the following:

Guest user available after lion 10.7.2 update

I yesterday installed the 10.7.2 update.
I now find that on the login screen I have a guest account that wasn't there (and which I don't want). Also the picture of my user was changed.
I fixed the picture in the address book (was also changed) and on the user page in system prefs.
Also I verified that the guest account is disabled in the system prefs! BUT it still shows in the login screen.
How can I fix this?

So is this a find my Mac issue then? It's one of the new adds this latest update brought (along with the iCloud).
I thought maybe it was iCloud related...
Anyway.....very annoying.
I want the services (find my Mac, iCloud and so on) but I don't want to see the guest on my login screen. And it is disabled in SysPrefs so there is no way to remove it even if you do manage to login to your Mac.
I wish someone from Apple would at least explain to us why the Guest user is now there?

Mouse won't work after computer wakes

I have both the original iMac keyboard and mouse (wired) and also a (wired) Microsoft USB Keyboard and mouse set. It doesn't matter which set I'm using as this happens with both. Whenever the computer sleeps and is then required, the mouse won't function. It stays in the centre of the screen.
With the MS Kb and mouse combo I use an additional 4-port USB hub. I have the latest MS software (6.0 for Mac) installed for this set. When needed after awakening, the mouse just sits. No activity whatsoever. The only way to activate it is to unplug the USB connection from its port on the hub. Now it will work fine.
Using the Mac set, the Mac mouse is connected into the Mac keyboard USB port. There is no USB hub in this scenario. However, the same thing happens. I have to disconnect the mouse from the Mac keyboard and reconnect it.
Any idea what is happening here? When I first started the Mac or MS sets there was no problem. Could it be that one of the Mac software updates is causing a glitch?
The reason I use the MS keyboard and mouse (MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard V1.0 and MS IntelliMouse Explorer 4.0) is because I prefer the keyboard layout. I have difficulty with the straight-across keyboards.

Why won't they make iTunes for us Linux users?

There is a large community of Linux users. We have no ITunes nor anything that we can make purchases, upgrades, synch etc. Why won't Apple make iTunes available for ALL users. I keep an old desktop running Windows XP simply for iTunes. Is there a reason Linux users are ignored?

10.4.9 - MacBookPro won't automatically sleep

Since upgrading to 10.4.9 my MacBookPro won't automatically go to sleep after the prescribed time. Has anyone else had this issue.
Nothing is connected to the computer other than a bluetooth Kensington mouse.
Worked fine prior to the upgrade.

I have a similar problem with my MBP. I can't even force it to sleep. Apple Menu --> Sleep: puts the display to sleep only. Same problem when closing the lid. The display will not wake up after either of these actions also.
The system itself will simply not go to sleep. 10.4.8 not a problem. 10.4.9 = problem.
Here are the steps I took to try to remedy this issue:
1) Repair permissions (disk utility)
2) Onyx (all unix scripts, cache clean, etc)
3) Applejack (auto mode)
4) New user account

Settings/General/Reset - Reset network settings will "forget" all WiFi networks so you can select them again.
If the problem with your company network is not solved by doing this, are there multiple sites that have the same network name for the company network? Or is it the default network name for the router type (e.g., DLINK, LINKSYS, etc)? If so, this is what is causing the problem and there is no solution other than convincing IT that it is a bad idea to have duplicate network names.

SOLVED Ok. I actually was able to disable it. I had to actually log in as the guest user to make it accessible in the preference window. Then I disabled it and logged out. Apologies if this was obvious for some people, but I have had some sort of issue with something every update since Snow Leopard.

iMac won't automatically connect to Wi-Fi. I can connect manually using "Network Diagnostics". After I select my router the connection is made. How can I make it automatic again? I only have a medium/low expertise. Software is Mac OS X v10.7.5.
The problem all started when I let Nintendo do a computer share in order to connect to a Wii U. The tech was into so many things I couldn't keep track of them. I have tried everything I know to fix it but to no avail. I even let Nintendo try twice to correct this...no luck.
