IChat/Adium trouble with a college proxy network.

I'm at college on a wireless network, and there is a proxy in place to access the internet, but unfortunately, iChat and Adium no longer want to connect, even with the proxy details in place within each program.
Can anyone help me out?
Cheers, Karl.

You may want to look into installing authoxy on your mac to get around certain proxy problems.

  • Trouble with setting up the network connection

I am having trouble with setting up my network connection on my new laptop, we use a telecom xtra broadband connection for our windows computers in the house. But when i try to put what i think is the right information in the set up it comes up with "network connection could not be configured"

    Hi,
you can not connected to sap on 127.0.0.1 ip address it is loopback address for local host.
instead of give the ip address where sap is running.
if you running SAP on your standalone PC/laptop then you need to assign one ip address to that host
use this ip address to connect.

  • Trouble with HP printer and network

Just upgraded to SL on my MBA. I have a small office network with only a few computers and 2 HP printers. They're both old, one HP Color Laserjet 4600n and one HP Laserjet 4000TN. I've been printing to both of them for over 1 yr on MBA with Leopard (10.5). 10.6 does away with appletalk, so I install the first printer, HP4000, through IP protocol with HP Jetdirect Socket. I input the printer's IP address, SL finds it and installs perfectly, no problems. But the MBA now cannot see the HP 4600. I find the printer's IP (192.2.2.188) and input it into the add printer (IP protocol) boxes and it cannot find the printer. I tried using the terminal and "pinging" the printer at that IP address and it cannot find it. So my MBA is not communicating with the printer somehow. I know the cables work, I know other computers (PCs) can find and print to the HP 4600. I can't figure it out. Please help!

I am having the same problem. I first hooked up my old printer; an HP 7760 deskjet. It printed fine for a day or two. Then it just stopped and it would say "jobs stopped." I kept clicking on "start jobs," but it just wouldn't print. It would go back to "jobs stopped."
I reinstalled 3 times. On the third time it worked and I started printing again. After 5 or 6 print jobs, it stopped again.
I decided to hook up the HP that I bought when I bought the new iMAC G-5. The HP Deskjet 5740 began printing right away with no problems..... until the next morning. Back to the same "jobs stopped" problems! I can't seem to get any answers. Some have suggested that using the new OS X v10.4 Tiger is too new and I need to download new drivers. I tried that, but I wasn't able to get the new drivers installed.
    Super frustrating!

  • Trouble with a JMS proxy listening to a distributed topic

    Hi all,
I've setup an ALSB cluster with 1 admin instance and 2 managed instances (m01 and m02).
I've also configured 1 distributed topic A and defined the two below proxies:
    - proxy P1 is a http proxy that publishes a message into the distributed topic A. The proxy uses a business service with jms protocol and endpoint uri:
    jms://wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7301,wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7303/my.ConnectionFactory/DistributedTopicA
    - proxy P2 is a JMS proxy listening to
    jms://wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7301,wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7303/my.ConnectionFactory/DistributedTopicA
that logs the received message and writes it to file.
The strange behaviour is that on the managed m01 log file I see the message received from P2 but also on the managed m02 log file I see the message received from P2.
So I'm sending out 1 message and receiving 1 x managed that is total = 2.
This strange behaviour is also confirmed from the fact that I see on the file system 2 files and not only 1.
I thought it was a problem concerning the config of business service that publishes message into the distributed topicA; but I tried with an external 'normal' java JMS subscriber that listens to t3://wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7301,wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7303 and it works properly: it receives only 1 message.
I'm trying to understand where is my fault.
Do you have any idea ?
    Thanks in advance
    Patrizio

If you publish a message to a topic, all the proxy that subscribed to this topic will receive the message. If you want the message to be processed by only one managed server you can publish to a queue instead.

  • Trouble with CFLOCATION and Proxy Servers

    Hi,
Trying to troubleshoot an annoying issue and wondering if
anyone has had any experience with this - haven't had much luck
Googling for info. Using up-to-date CF 6.1 and current version of
Apache 2.0. Client is accessing our CF webapps via a clustered
proxy server/firewall archicture. Each time client users HTTP POST
through one of our applications, the page they are redirected to
only displays a small portion of unprocessed raw source page
content, the remaining page content never seems to make it to the
client's browser. The only way they can a valid version of the page
is to refresh the browser. I verified that small portion of raw
source content is returned by the application during these
redirects using an HTTP sniffer, however my office PC still
redirects to the correct page. We are using <CFLOCATION> tags
to move users between pages after submitting.
I suspect this problem has to do with their proxy server(s)
holding HTTP 302 responses to the literal standard, which
(paraphrasing) basically states that while the URI has been moved,
it is up to the client to continue the actual redirect. I believe
HTTP 303 responses would be the "correct" implementation. Having
said that, we've never run into this issue with any other client
    users before.
Has anyone ever run into similar issues before? Any help is
    greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    DTS

    Replace
    byte[] buf = null;with
byte[] buf = new byte[ 256 ];Other problems may happen if this sample was not tested properly.
The problem is that the DatagramPacket requires you to supply a non-null buffer, as per:
    DatagramPacket
    public DatagramPacket(byte[] buf, int length)
Constructs a DatagramPacket for receiving packets of length length.
The length argument must be less than or equal to buf.length.
    Parameters:
buf - buffer for holding the incoming datagram.
length - the number of bytes to read.

  • Trouble with Basic Reverse Proxy to an IIS machine

    Hi All,
I am a bit new at this, so bear with me. I am attempting to use Weblogic 8.1 SP3 as a Reverse Proxy to an IIS server. I have configured the HttpProxyServlet and it is the default servlet in my server.
The kicker here is that it works to google.com or cnn.com, but it fails with a 404 to my internal IIS server. Could IIS be doing something to prevent this?
              My web.xml looks like this:

Yes, you are able to do this using IIS.

  • Trouble with MacBook Pro finding AirPort networks

I recently bought a new (refurbished) MacBook Pro (15", 1.83GHz), to replace my old iBook, which was one of the early white models, circa 2001.
Everything about my new computer is wonderful, of course, except that every time I boot up, wake from sleep, or turn on the AirPort, it takes up to a full minute for the AirPort to find any open networks. This happens at school (where there are AirPort base stations all over the place), at home (where we have a Belkin router, and several neighbors have others), and at my parents' house (where they have a linksys router). It doesn't seem to matter whether the networks use encryption or not, nor how close or far I am from the nearest router. If I know the name of a nearby open network and type it in, I can get it, usually. On my old iBook, I had a little trouble with some of the networks at school sometimes, but never with this kind of delay across the board, and certainly never at home nor at my parents'.
Also, at home, when the the AirPort finally does find the available networks, it NEVER chooses my router first, even though it's the only one in the neighborhood that I listed under "Preferred Networks."
I've read some similar posts, dealing with problems with accessing encrypted networks, but nothing seemed to address my particular issue. It might be a defect with the AirPort or firmware, but I wanted to check, first.
(Oh, and I'm not a complete newbie, but tech-speak often goes over my head. Please keep it simple.)
    Thanks!

This is how I fixed the problem on my MBP.
Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences
    Delete the folder SystemConfiguration
Go to System Prefrences > Network > Show+Network Port Configuration. Check Airport and Built-in Ethernet and make sure Airport is on the top of the list.
Reconfigure your wep passwords and it should work. Worked for me. Also, you will have to redo your power settings.

  • I am having trouble with my Mac Mini's ethernet connection.   Defining a new network interface shows no ethernet adaptor.  Reloading SL from DVD repaired.  But SL update lost ethernet again.  Will Lion Fix?

I am having trouble with my mac mini ethernet.  It had been working for weeks after an update to SL 10.6.8.
Once it went out and i repaired it by defining a new connection from System Preferences ->Network->(left panel service, +).
But yesterday, after a power up.  my ethernet was not working again. I tried this old trick to repair it, but the interface choices
listed for '+' a new service did not include Ethernet any more.  And the Utilities->System Profiler->Ethernet Cards shows
    no ethernet available.
As a last ditch effort i reloaded my original SL from DVD.  (I think it was version 10.6.4 but i could be mistaken on the version).
The ethernet worked!  But KeyNote wasn't going to work because apparently the version i purchased depends on 10.6.8.
So I upgraded again to SL 10.6.8 (Plus some other updates like AirPort which i don't use).
Now the Ethernet is not working again.  I see the same symptoms as before with the Ethernet seeming not installed.
Is this a problem seen by others?
Would going to Lion fix the problem?
Could AirPort actually be the culprit and not SL?
If i stay with my original SL, would i need to repurchase a version of KeyNote for the older version of SL?

    Have you reset the SMC?
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
While you're at it, resetting the PRAM won't hurt anything and 'might' help is SMC reset didn't work (PRAM does some port control):
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
Something else you might try .... you don't say how you're updating to 10.6.8, however, if you're using Software Update, you might try downloading the 10.6.8 combo update, which contains all updates to 10.6. Sometimes, Software Update doesn't work quite right, and installing the combo update fixes that. Download the update from Apple's download site at http://support.apple.com/downloads/ , using Disk Utility repair permissions, apply the combo update, then repair permissions again.

  • Networking troubles with ABIT BP6 board and Solaris 8

Hi, Im trying to install the Solaris 8 software on my ABIT BP6 board with a Compaq NetFlex3 10TX NIC. This is a SMP board (dual celeron) but is not on the HCL (the NIC is).
The installation gives no problems at all (except for a memory conflict between memory devices), and SunOS works pretty well except for networking... using ifconfig -a shows me the networking interface and the loopback interface but I can't ping outside of the Solaris machine (or ping to the Solaris machine from an other machine).
I know that the board is not on the HCL but I had no networking troubles with Solaris 8 early access.
After instalation of the software and the reboot, I get the status as below:
    >
    configuring IPv4 interfaces: cnft0.
    Hostname: MILLIWAYS
    Configuring /dev and /devices
Configuring the /dev directory (compatibility devices)
The system is coming up. Please wait.
    checking ufs filesystems
    /dev/rdsk/c0d0s7: is clean.
    All devices are configured...
    Configuring network interface addresses: cnft0.

    Starting IPv4 routing deamon.
    starting rpc services: rpcbind done.
Setting netmask of cnft0 to 255.255.255.0

As you can see I get a time out while configuring the NIC. I tried a lot of different things (and some bad ones like using the device driver disk of the EA version with the cd's of the final version but no luck there...)
Anyone with the same problems or any help?
    Thanx, Marcel

    Hi maeck,
I'm sorry that my message is off the topic. Could you help me with a problem that I have with Abit BP6 + Solaris 8 combo?
I'm encountering error message on console screen during booting/reboot/shutting down like "APIC error interrupt on CPU 0. Status=2" where CPU can be 0 or 1, status can be 0, 2, 4 or 6.
If I let my dual Celeron400 run at 400MHz, the frequency of errors is few and far between. Though it still happens. If I overclock them to 558MHz like I udually do, it will show at least 4 times during a booting process. I've tried MPS 1.1 and 1.4 settings. I've also tried turning off all cache, delayed transaction, passive release settings.
In addition, the overclocked system tends to lock up while it runs flawless in Windows 2000 Professional and Redhat 6.1. Do you have any similar experience?

  • TO ALL THOSE HAVING TROUBLE WITH ICHAT AND AIM ON MACBOOKS

I've had a lot of trouble with AIM and iChat on my new Macbook, but I believe I've figured out the answers to all the problems I and others have encountered.
Firstly, for those who's AIM continually crashes and displays the message "The application AIM unexpectedly shut down," my answer to your problem is too many sent messages. Watch the bar in the bottom left of your chat window, when it reaches red, your application will probably shut down.
Secondly, for those experiencing difficulties with iChat, it's most likely a problem with communitcation between your wireless router and your computer. Try these steps:
    1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
    2. From the View, choose Sharing.
    3. Click the Firewall tab.
    4. Click New.
    5. From the Port Name pop-up menu, choose Other.
If you have a Macbook, you'll probably have a TCP Port Number Bar and a UDP Port Number Bar. Try these steps:
    1. In the TCP Port Number(s) Bar, type: 5190, 5298
    2. In the UDP Port Number(s) Bar, type: 1024-5219, 5221, 5223-65535
    3. In the Description Bar, type: iChat AV
    4. Click OK
    5. Click Start above the window with your firewall settings, and make sure the box next to iChat AV is checked
    6. Relaunch iChat
Good Luck! I hope this solves some of the problems that people have been encountering.

    Rob
My Linksys is the WAG54G, which might be different from your WRT54G. Currently, UPnP is disabled and the Router ports are a bit of a mystery, because they're forwarded to an IP address that's outside of the current DHCP Address Range! Once I got it working, I was reluctant to change it even though it looked anomalous.
The Firewall is on, with the iChat ports open that I listed in the previous post.
My two regular buddies are my sons, who both use Trillian Pro on a Windows machine. Works pretty well despite occasional freezes or garbled sound.
    Hope you get sorted soon.
