IChat Alert Messages (Fun Feature gone)

Another Mac Fun Feature bites the dust. You can no longer Customize you own Alert Messages. Everyone had fun with this feature.

  • Alert messages from Notification Center hang after using close button

After opening my MacBook in the morning, Notification Center displays the alerts from my Calender (I realy like this new feature!).
    Problem
When I click the Close Button on an Alert Message the Alert Message does not close but stops responding and stays displayed.
The only way to get rid of it is to logout and login to OSX.
Does anyone have the same problem?
I am looking for a solution.
    All suggestions are welcome!
    Thanks,
      Chris

    Hi,
    Uploaded with Skitch!
As you can see the System Preferences > Notification Pane talks about "Alerts" in a general way first
Then it offers options on how the Notifications are displayed.
I was presuming you were talking about the Notifications in the same general way and I was asking which option you were using
Since my first post in this thread I have changes my Mail Notifications to Alerts (It seems to be the one with more issue)
It does hang around until I deal with it
It then send me to Mail but the Incoming mail item(s) is(are) no longer marked  as unread.
This makes it a little difficult to check the generic Inbox rthat has five Accounts set up.
I am not getting a spinning beach Ball and the Alert Style Notification goes away.

  • Jabber server New alert message

I have been using a jabber server to access my MSN account and it has worked pretty good for several months. only issues, is sometimes it shuts off with no warning or once a got an alert message in another language. when i replied in english, there was no return message, and then the server kicked me off and went off line for a while.
This morning i logged in to my iChat and started getting a message from the server (msn.netlab.cz). the messages read: "Your MSN account has been logged in elsewhere. Please logout at the other location and then reactivate the MSN transport." This message keeps coming up every 3 or 5 minutes.
no i know i am not logged in anywhere else, but i shut it off on iChat and logged into MSN messenger anyways. i could log in with no problems, so i assume i am not logged in.
Has anyone heard of this message coming up as a false error or is it possible someone is logged in under my msn account? I do not give out passwords so i don't see how.

    Hi GIlbert,
I haven't heard of that message before, but you're right, that would be annoying happening so often! It is possible that someone hacked into your MSN account by guessing the password (which it never hurts to change a password every so often just in case). I'm not saying that's exactly what happened though.
The other situation could be that you logged on via another IP address somehow (through an open wireless connection?) and never properly closed out the connection. So the server would still see you online, even though you're really not.
There are a few Google results on the subject though. Maybe this thread will help you out or shed some light on the issue?
    Good luck!

  • How do I disable the new alert message popups that darken the whole webpage and are completely intrusive?

    <blockquote>Locking duplicate thread.<br>
    Please continue here: [/questions/811301]</blockquote><br>
Whenever a website or javascript pops up an alert message, Firefox4 now completely greys out the site. How do I turn this retarded feature off? Also how do I get my status bar at the bottom of the window back? Another retarded design decision.

You can look at the pref <b> prompts.tab_modal.enabled</b> to false on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Family Base - Alert messages

Please explain to me what the "red alert symbol" means within the Family Base Alert Messages.
Also, is there a way to see the text message details posted to my child's phone through my Family Base account?  Or is that only possible by physically taking my child's phone?
    Thank you for your help!

Keewaydin, we want managing your family's usage with the Family Base feature to be easy breezy! • Multiple Receivers for Alert Messages

    Hi All,
I have to send alert message to multiple users (SAP and Non-SAP Users) through ALRTCATDEF.
I know there is option of creating Distribution List and assign this Distribution list.
Would like to is there any other possible way to acheive this?
Can we have the distribution list (SAP and Non-SAP Users) created in email exchange server (ex:- [email protected]) ,create one user in SAP and assign this user to the distribution list that is created in the email exchange. finally provide this in Fixed recipient of ALRTCATDEF.
    Anyone tried this ?
    Will this work?
What are the advantages going this way rather than creating DL in SAP?
    Thanks,
    Sai

    Hi Sai,
We are also did in same way.  Created DL in mail exchange server and created one user id in SAP and assigned the DL mail to that user.
If you do it this way you can add the new members to DL in feature without any risk.
    Thanks,
    Satish.

  • Instant alert messages

    Hi,
I am sending the alert message on a button click to another user and it works successfully whenever another user login to SBO. But in addition to it i need to know that if these alerts could be send to another user instantly or could we set the frequency to open the ALERT message box automatically.
Mean to say that another user should receive the alert while he login and also when he already working on SBO

    Hi,
    Thanx for your reply and
I had already gone through that option.
Actually i have made my own customized screen which shows all the users of the SBO along with the Message subjects through which we can choose the users to which we want to send the message.
And now i want to and the time management functionality to that screen only that is suppose i made a drop down box or the the column with the check box and through that i want to manage the time at which the user would receive the alerts.
    Urgent.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Alert messages don't work

Unable to get the alert messages to work. I have it set for 2 alerts then changed to 10 alerts. Nothing happens

    Hi,
The beeps and bings that happen on certain actions if set in the iChat Preferences > Alerts are played back by the System as if they were System Alerts.
The Volume Setting for this is in System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects.
On occasions you can highlight a Buddy in the Buddy List and Use the Apple key and i together (Get Info) and set an Individual Alert Sound to an Action of that Buddy.
This can sometimes conflict with the Global setting in the Alert section.
Delete any Buddy's personal Alerts and see if that helps.

  • Alert message wont stop

I have an Officejet Pro L7680. I installed a driver for 990c on advice of HP because the software that came with the printer doesnt work with Vista. (!!!!) Recently I've been getting alternating alert messages - about every 30 seconds - first it says the 7600 is disconnected, then it says it's ready. How can I get this to stop?
    Thanks

There are full featured and basic drivers for the L7680 available for download from HP here.  There are also two critical updates related to the printer losing connection with the printer, these should be applied as well.  Likely the updates will resolve your issue, but they may only apply if you are using the L7680 driver rather then the Deskjet 990 driver.

  • Alert Message before sending a Mail from Outlook

    Hi Team,
Can you please suggest how to to get a alert in outlook before sending mail. We have to do this for all of our exchange users. Around 200 people are there in our organization. Please respond to it ASAP.
    Regards,
    Lavakumar Reddy M

    Hi Lavakumar,
Based on my knowledge, getting an alert before sending messages can't be achieved by Exchange Server.
I would like to know what your purpose is. If you want to avoid users from sending wrong messages, recall feature can help them when they send wrong messages.
For more information about recall, here is a helpful thread for your reference.
Recall or replace an email message that you sent

    Hope it helps.
