  • FIX: FireWire communication issue solved - What worked for me

After installing the iPod Updater 2006-01-10, I found that my FireWire devices (not just my iPod) no longer worked. After much messing about with all the suggestions I found online (none of which worked) I've managed to sort out the FireWire communication issues I had.
you can read about the exact issues I had here:
    http://forums.kustompcs.co.uk/showthread.php?t=35034
    and here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1562072
Unfortunately those looking for a quick fix will be disappointed, I had to:
    a) Send my iPod Mini back to Apple, which was promptly replaced
    b) Totally re-install Windows (including drive format)
    c) Borrow the install CD that came with my friends iPod, which had a later version of iPod Updater (2005-10-12) than the one I had on my install CD, but earlier than the dreaded 2006-01-10
If anyone needs this updater (as it's impossible to find an earlier one on Apple's website) drop me your email in here and I'll send you the web address to download it. This is basically a ZIP of the original CD, totally virus free (for those that are worried) and appears to work fine.
If Apple have an issue with this, then why don't you fix the link on your site to this updater; this is simply my response to the complete lack of response from Apple on this matter.
A quick note about the: 'connection rate=S100 ERROR'.
If you discover you have this error when you test your iPod in diagnostic mode; find out how to do this here:
    http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/index.shtml
Then it appears there is nothing you can do to fix this other than sending it back to Apple. No amount of restoring will solve it.
I hope this helps someone out there! I've yet to fix the issue with my LaCie drive (basically it needs sending back) which if anything proves that whatever screwed my system did something to the hardware on a low level, it wasn't a Windows software issue, because after re-installing it, I download SP2 and ALL the latest hotfixes, if that was the cause, it would have done it again.
This leaves one culprit - the iPod Updater 2006-01-10, as this was the only software I installed at the time both of my FireWire devices went down, avoid it like the plaque.

  • Any fix for the PC based network printer communication issue with Mavericks?

Any fix for the PC based network printer communication issue with Mavericks?

I just signed up for FIOS and am not experiencing your problem (had enough other ones instead).
Go to mail preferences ~ click on a mail account ~ click on the advanced tab. The only settings that worked for me were: port 110 SSL OFF, authentication: Authenticated POP (APOP). If I remember correctly when I first set this up another window opened and I typed in my password and never had to do that again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nexus1000v - ? communication issue vcenter - N1Kv ???

Unregulary we get these kind of alarms in our vcenter although there were no changes made on nexus or VM side.:
"vSphere HA detected that host HOSTNAME is in a different network partition than the master MASTERNAME"
They are cleared after a certain time without any manual action.VMware assumes a communication issue between vcenter and nexus1000.
Anyone with similar experiences (or even a solution)???

    Hi Sachin,
    Thanks for your response.
    Please find my reply below:
Is the module showing as up in the VSM when you execute 'show module'?
    >Yes the module is up and showing active when i execute the given command
Is you ESX management VLAN allowed on the access port profile and on the uplink? Is it created on the switch?
    >Yes it is created on the vswitch as well as the upstream switches and allowed in the link also.
Do you have system VLANs for your control, packet connectivity? For your ESX mgmt connectivity?
    > Yes i had defined control, packet and management vlans as system vlans.
I feel that the port profile is not allowing the traffic to go in and out from the DVS.
When i change the uplink of VSM from vswitch to DVS then the VSM doesnt reach gateway itself.
    Thanks,

  • Ethernet Communications Issue

    Hello list,
I have an ethernet communications issue.
We can communicate with our products using two communications modes, ethernet, and a proprietary CAN. For the ethernet connection, I have a router that assigns a DHCP address to the product (169.254.130.005). For the CAN connection there is a hardware ethernet to CAN adapter that has an assigned address of 169.254.130.006.
Below is a simplified example of the code I use to talk to the product. (there is only one loop...two loops are shown. One showing the True Cases, one showing the False cases.
So I set the I.P. address, set "Connect?" to true, and run my code for a while. I then set "Connect?" to false, change the I.P. address, and then set "Connect?" to true.
What I have found is that the "TCP Close Connection" does not actually close the connection, and the "TCP Read" and "TCP Write" are reading and writing to BOTH I.P. addresses simultaneously! (confirmed by using Wireshark). I don't understand how this can be since I only have one TCP Write and one TCP Write, and see only one "Connection I.D." when I probe that wire.
Am I not closing the connection properly? Do I have to kill the connection ID in Windows somehow?
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Nathand,
The code shown is a simple representation of what I'm doing.  I guess it wasn't clear.  The switch is connected to a shift register to compare the previous & current loops itterations and only opens one connection "on change" of the "Connected?" input.  (that is confirmed with Wireshark).  Also, the product tells me that I have made only one TCP/IP connection on each IP address.
I pass the Connecion ID that is created out the right side of the loop and into the left with a shift register when the connectionis made...so the same Connection ID is used for each read/write.  What I'm not understanding is how I can see only one Connection ID on the wire but a read/write to both I.P. addresses with only one one read and one write in my code.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Xi3 companion box communication issues with X1 platform

Hopefully someone has had this issue as I haven't been able to find this one during my search.   Subject: Xi3 set top boxes will not connect to the X1 platform on the same outlet(s) that my RNG150 will.   Background: 4 weeks ago a very polite gentleman working with an Xfinity subcontractor arrived at 8am to install our Xfinity package and equipment.  8 hours later he finally left.  During that time, there were multiple connectivity issues with the small Xi3 set top boxes.  The X1 platform (DVR) and modem were easily set up and tested and worked perfectly (and still do) at the main location in our great room, however, when it came time to connect the other 3 rooms (all located upstairs), there were communication issues.  As my wife set up services with Xfinity, she didn't realize we needed these extra set top boxes, so the technitian had to call and add them and only had (2) of the "new" Xi3 boxes, but had an "older" RNG150 set top box in his vehicle so we had him install that one as we didn't mind the older larger box in the rec room.  After multiple calls to trouble shoot why these two boxes weren't communicating, he apparently resolved the issue, tested the boxes and we signed off and he left.  That evening I went to turn on the bedroom tv and nothing but the red screen of death.  Error code RDK 03030.  So, I followed the troubleshooting guildlines, rebooting the platform in sequence, several times to make sure I got it right.  Still red screen.  I checked the other Xi3 box, same issue.  Since the rec room tv was still working, I just jacked that box and moved it to our bedroom.  BOOM.  Full functionality.  Only problem was the inability to access our saved programs.  So, i've been doing this for the last 4 months.  Moving the box from our room to the rec room for our little one to watch cartoons, then back to our room at night.  Suffice it to say, my wife is growing tired of this so I put a call into the technician as he wanted to make sure I call him first so the install doesn't look negative on his record.  No response.  I've been researching this for the last week and have come to the following conclusions. - Possible wire/coax issue. This seemed the most plausible, however, I was able to confirm we have the COMMSCOPE     Amp installed and the line to the X1 platform does in fact work based on the fact the older box works on the same line, so if it is some sort of wiring issue its lost at the Xi3 box or perhaps the older box requires a weaker signal to perform?  I've also seen many comments suggesting the COMMSCOPE amps are garbage.  Thats fine, but if it worked previously, and the older box works, would that still be the culprit?
    - Moca issue.I'm not entirely sure how this works, but when checking diagnostics, the grid shows 0's across the matrix.  Even with the older box active.  I'm at work currently so I cannot post the rest of the diagnostics, can provide that once I get home.- Hardware issue.  Even though these boxes worked when the technician installed and tested them, perhaps there is a hardware failure or these boxes are "bad".   Hopefully someone on here can help, I'd prefer not to have to contact customer service, follow all the trouble shooting steps I've perfomed ad nauseum and have a tech come out if possible.  However, if it has to happen then so be it. Thanks for your help in advance.

  • About the communication issues in the client-server program

About the communication issues in the client-server program
Hi, I have some questions about the communication issues in a java project, which is basically the client and server architecture. In brief, the client, written in java, can be deployed anywhere, and in the following part, assume it is in the LAN (Local Area Network) which is connnected to the internet through the firewall and/or proxy, and the server, written in
java too, simply provides the listening service on a port in a remote machine. And assume the server is connected to the internet directly so that the scenario can be simple to focus on the core questions.
    My questions are as follows:
1 About the relationship between the communication port and protocol
Generally, protocols at the application level like HTTP, FTP have their own default port, e.g., HTTP is corresponding to 80,
FTP is to 25. But it is NOT necessary for the web server to provide the HTTP listening service at port 80, right? E.g, Tomcat provides the HTTP listening service at 8080. So it means the default relationship between the application protocl and their port is some routine, which is not necessary to follow, right?
2 Assume a LAN connected to the internet through a proxy, which only allows HTTP protocol, then questions are:
2.1 Does the proxy recognize the HTTP request from the client by the port number (carried in the request string)? For example, when the server provides the HTTP listening service at 80, then the request from the client will include the port number 80, then the proxy will parse such info and decide if or not the request can be out.
2.2 Does the proxy recognize the HTTP request from the client by protocol (carried in the request string)? For example, the protocol used in the communicatin should be included in the request, then the proxy can parse it to make the decision.
3 In java programm, if using the HTTP protcol, then on the client: the corresponding API is java.net.URLConnection, right?
If using the TCP protocol directly, then on the client:the corresponding API is java.net.Socket, right? In both cases, the server side use the same API, java.net.ServerSocket?
Is it correct to say that the communication by Socket is faster than URLConnection?
4 Take MSN messenger for example, which protocol does it use? Since proxy configure is only the possible option, so I guess generally the TCP protocol is used directly so that the better perfomrance can be achieved, right?
5 Given 3 computers within the same LAN, can the client, proxy, server environment above be correctly simulated? If so, can
you recommend me some typical proxy program so that I can install it to configure such an enviroment to perform some test?
6 I guess there should be some software to find out which port number a given program/process is going through to connect to
the remote machine, and which port number a given program/process is listening on? Also, what protocl is used in the given
    communication.
7 Finally, regarding each of the above questions, it will be highly appreciated that if you can recommed some references,
tutorials, books etc. In summary, what I care about is how to enable the java client behind the proxy and firewall to
communicate with the remote server without problems, so if you know some good tutorials plz let me know and thx in advance!
Finally, thanks for your attention so such long questions =).

FTP is to 25. But it is NOT necessary for the web
server to provide the HTTP listening service at port
80, right? E.g, Tomcat provides the HTTP listening
service at 8080. So it means the default relationship
between the application protocl and their port is
some routine, which is not necessary to follow,
right? Not sure what you're saying here.
There must be a server listening on some port. The client must know what port that is. If you open the connection using the Socket class, you'll explicitly specify the port. If you use some higher level class like URLConnection or something in the commons Net package, there's probably a default port that will be used if you don't explicitly specify another.
There's no way for the client to know that the HTTP request will go to port 80 instead of port 8080. If you think the the client contacts the server without explicitly naming a port, and then asks the server "get me your HTTP server", and the port is determined from that, you're mistaken.
Not sure if you're thinking that, but it sounded like you might be.
2 Assume a LAN connected to the internet through
a proxy, which only allows HTTP protocol, then
    questions are:
2.1 Does the proxy recognize the HTTP request
from the client by the port number (carried in the
request string)? For example, when the server
provides the HTTP listening service at 80, then the
request from the client will include the port number
80, then the proxy will parse such info and decide if
or not the request can be out. I'm not sure, but I think most proxies and firewalls are configured by ports. I thought I'd heard of more sophisticated, higher-level ones that could understand the content to some degree, but I don't know anything about those.
3 In java programm, if using the HTTP protcol,
then on the client: the corresponding API is
    java.net.URLConnection, right?That's one way.
You might want to look into this:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/
If using the TCP protocol directly, then on the
    client:the corresponding API is java.net.Socket,
right? In both cases, the server side use the same
API, java.net.ServerSocket? A Java client will user Socket, and a Java server will use ServerSocket and Socket.
Is it correct to say that the communication by Socket
    is faster than URLConnection?Probably not.

  • IChat communication issues (i Think...)

    Hello iChat forum,
So, I've been having a lot of trouble with my ichat recently.  Not sure if there's been a recent update or something, but in general things seem to be completely haywire.
I used iChat to connect to my already existing AIM and GTalk accounts.  Some days it works, and other days it doesnt.  Today nothing is working at all.
There are no password issues.  I have been able to log in in the past with no problem.  In fact I was online on both accounts yesterday.  Today the application will not even respond to my request to sign on.
I went ahead and deleted all the accounts in my iChat preferences, and re-added them with the + symbol, to see if that would trigger anything.  Unfortunately not.  I'm going to re-boot now and see if that will do anything, but I'm guessing probably not.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?  My accounts are all there, but when I ask iChat to "Log in to Gmail" or "Log in to AIM," the little grey window with my username, photo, and status simply sits there and does nothing.  I have also tried changing my status on this little grey window to "Available" with the green circle beside it, but no luck there either.  I would really like to be able to log on to gchat and AIM on a regular, reliable basis, as I speak to my developer, friends, and other business associates via these programs.  I don't like to leave the browser windows open all the time, which is currently how I'm accessing GTalk.
Maybe, if iChat is just not doing well, there is another application someone could recommend as a GTalk + AIM client all in one.  I really like that I only have to have one window open and all of my contacts are there for me to chat with in one window.
Thanks for any help or advice!

    Hi,
Open Applications/Utilities and open Keychain Access.
Make sure the Login account is selected at the top left panel.
Select the Password section in the lower left panel.
Check these for your AIM Name.
If you have changed you password they may be two entries.
(As you Deleted and Recreated the iChat Accounts consider typos).
Double click the line to bring up the info panel.
Click the Show Password box (this brings up a dialogue Box for your Account Password and to use the Allow Once Button).
Does the Password show what you expect ?
Old Names/passwords are not deleted or changed but new ones are created which may mean there are several entries for the same "Name" (AIM ID)
You can delete one of multiple entries.
You can also change the password shown and save the result.
It sounds if iChat is either not allowed through the Mac Firewall or possibly not through the routing device.
Also do you have a DNS server listed in System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab ? (A local IP like 192.168.0.1 that points to your router does not count).
As you say you are logged in via the Google Web Pages to access the chat option there, then we can presume the Password works for Google.
Have you logged in to AIM Express to find out if the (AIM) password works for AIM ?

  • IChat 5.0.3(745) communication error when trying A/V connection

    Please Help,
I am not that great with OSX yet I have only had this Macbook Pro for 6 months. Bearing that in mind I have read and tried several things listed on other threads regarding this issue as it may be the same. I am able to connect to Ichat and text chat with people freely. My problem is when I attempt to chat via audio/video conferencing. I get a communication error message. This problem has only recently started. I have been using Ichat problem free for a few months. I do not know what changed to incur this problem.
Here is what i have tried from other threads so you know where to start:
    1. I deleted the com.apple.ichat.plist file in preferences
    2. I set the bandwidth limit in Ichat to 500kps (changed from none)
    3. I turned off internet sharing in system preferences
    4. I turned off the firewall of my Macbook Pro
    5. I have restarted everything multiple times
I am using a Time Capsule as my Network router. And I have an ATT DSL modem make is 2wire 2701HG-B.
The friend I am chatting with is not having these issues, he is able to A/V conference with others, so the problem is on my end.
Lastly here is the information from the report In case it helps. I would attach it in a text file. . .but I do not know how.
ANy other suggestions would be very much appreciated. Also when responding please step me through it as best you can, as there were some other posts with solutions that I couldn't figure out how to do.
    THANKS

    Hi,
Great reply. Thanks for the detail.
What we have here is two devices doing DHCP.
The Time Capsule is getting a DHCP issued address and is also Sharing an IP which means it is doing DHCP to the computers.
Due to the router functions any DHCP issued IP from the 2wire also gets passed on, through the Time Capsule to the computer(s).
The problem is though that System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > TCP/IP tab can show only one.
If this is the WiFi (Airport) option it will be the Time Capsule that is shown.
(If it were Ethernet then it would show the "closer" device cable/lead-wise which would also be the Time Capsule.
Scroll to the bottom of this page and watch the Animated .gif
    http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/modmerouterpic.html
    Next
Port Mapping Protocol is Apple's version of UPnP (Similar but different)
When it is On (Enabled) but with no ports set it work like UPnP in that multiple computer can use the same ports at the same time.
In this sense the Time Capsule is set up.
    2Wire
Very few manufacturers put UPnP in the same place.
Port Forwarding And if the device has it, Port Triggering, do tend to be in one of a couple of places.
Zyxels for instance display a three column list of menu items/Links of which UPnP is listed in the middle column.
Netgears also tend to have menu system, but more like a web page and display UPnP in it's own item down the left.
Linksys devices have tabs and subtabs. UPnP is in the Administration Tab (which has no sub items)
D-Links have Tabs and menus and is in Tool across the top and a Menu item that then shows down the side.
Some devices have it in Advanced and Misc.
    Some in Tools.
Some have it as an item, like the DMZ on those 2wire pics, as a Check box on the Port Forwarding page.
Of course some don't even have UPnP.
    Set Up.
    IF ...
If it turns out you have UPnP tucked away on some link/menu/page on the 2Wire then Enable it.
Then the DHCP could be turned Off in the 2Wire and the Time Capsule set to Static (Manually set) IP
    Method.
Write down everything in the text fields on the Time Capsule on the Internet Pane TCP/IP bit
Change the 2Wire to Not do DHCP (you will lose internet until you get to the Apply below)
Change the Time Capsule the read Manually in the drop down where it says "Using DHCP"
Fill in the text fields with the info you wrote down
(The IP can be anything in that 192.168.1 range except the current "Router IP")
Then the SUbnet Mask as is.
Any DNS server info (Copy anything shown on the 2Wire if the Time Capsule is not showing them)
Router/Gateway IP (Should be the IP to Access the 2Wire and it's pages)
    Apply
Any issues return the setting in both devices to what they were (doing DHCP and Using DHCP)
This will then set a Subnet on one IP for the Time Capsule from the modem.
The Time Capsule can still continue to Do "Share A Public IP.
    Options.
    Leave the 2Wire doing DHCP
Set the "Share a Public IP" in the Time Capsule to Bridge (Off) Mode
This set the Time Capsule as a WiFi Access Point (Wifi Hub) and not a router. Basically it is extending the LAN of the 2wire by WiFi and any further Ethernet that is used.
Yes the Option is easier and simpler to set up.
Having said that if you chose the Optional Route, which also collapses the two Subnets into one, you are less "hidden" from the Internet side.
If the 2Wire device does not have UPnP I will need to know how many device and computer there are that use the internet.
If multiple devices are using iChat or Face Time then we need to set Port Triggering if we can.
    Other info
On most domestic devices the ports we are talking about have a certain number already open.
There are 65535 ports in all and the first 1024 are open to any device that is connected.
This cover port 80 and 443 for general Web Browsing and secure sites like Banks and the login here at Discussions.
Mail servers use lots of different ports (25, 110 443 565, 965, 996) depending n the Mail server (POP or IMAP or even who the Server belongs to) but they are all lower than 1024.
It is IM Apps and Games in particular that need the higher port opened or allowed.

  • Communication issues between domain controllers

    Hi everyone,
I am experiencing some problems in communication between domain controllers in our organization
We have three domain controllers, one of them is a Windows 2003 server service pack 2 which is physical (controller A), another which is Windows 2008 Service Pack 2 (controller B), also physical, and a third one (controller C) which is a Windows 2008
service pack 1 and is virtual.
I have problems with this last DC, it won't respond to pings, or DNS query. I can't Access it by remote desktop client even when it is enabled. I cannot update it, it prompts error messages if I try to do so.
This problems are solved if I reboot it, it will work fine some hours or days, but not much longer. I have checked event viewer and I didn't found any message about this.
I read some time ago it would be great to have a DC in a virtual machine, so I did it, but is it right?
Do you know what might be going on with it? would depromoting it and seting it up again the best solución?
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards.
    David.

This sounds like a NIC issue, which is odd since it is a virtual machine.  Have you checked the host for any logs about the client?
I think the first thing I would do is destroy the current virtual NIC card and add a new one.  Since this has nothing to do with Active Directory I would also suggest you post this in a forum of for the Host (VMWare or Hyper-V).

  • Ichat and messages aren't communicating on bonjour network

Hi there...i've been searching for some help to my question but haven't found it.
    This is the problem.
at my office we have some Macs running ichat with snow leopard and other ones running messages with maverick.
When we try to chat between us, we can do it only if we are using the same app/os even when we can
see all the colleagues on the bonjour network...
    to be more clear...
everyone is visible on buddy list, either we have ichat or message installed...
computer A running messages and maverick can send and receive messages to/from computer B running also messages and maverick  and viceversa
computer C running ichat and snow leopard can send and receive messages to/from computer D running also ichat and snow leopard and viceversa
computer A/B (messages/maverick) cannot send or receive messages from computers C/D (ichat/snow leopard) and viceversa
hope there is a solution out there, thanks in advance for any help...

    Hi,
Let me see if I have understood you correctly.
No matter what OS version or Messages or iChat Version all the Buddies show in each other's Buddy lists ?
Despite this only Mavericks with Messages 8 to Mavericks and Messages 8 will work with each and the same for Snow Leopard and iChat 5 based computers ?
What is not working in Mavericks to Snow Leopard (which is Messages to iChat 5) ?
Separate from using the iChat and Messages app do all the  computers appear in the Finders Side Bar for Computer "Shares" ?
I have a NAS drive which uses Mac's AFP protocol and the Windows SMB protocol AND it can be set to be  Time Machine Backup place and can do Bonjour Shares. (it appears 4 times in my list)
In addition to that I have my two other computers turned On (MacBook Pro and a G4)
This would tend to imply that the computers are all in the same part of the LAN (If the router has the IP of 192.168.0.1 only the last number should be different for all the computers)
My Computer is using WiFi (it's Airport card) to connect to the network.
The router is using the 192.168.0.x group as can be seen by the computer getting IP 192.168.0.17 in this pic
The Subnet mask should also be the same across all computers.
In addition no two computers should have the Same Name.
When I set up my computers I tend to use  my own name so each computer then gets called "Ralph Johns's Computer"  (it can't cope properly with the s at the end of my surname)
AS you can see from the Pic Above I have changed my Older G4 computer to be called "Ralphs' G4" and my Laptop to "Ralph Johns MacBook Pro"
These "Names" for the computers are also close to the names I use on the Address Cards for myself on those computers.
i.e. on the G4 the My Card in the Address Book list "Ralph G4" as my name.  (My MacBook Pro does have me as Ralph Johns)
On my iMac I am posting from (Mavericks) I can called Ralph Johns-iMac in my Address Card.
It is these names in the My Card (Address book and Contacts list on each computer) that gives the Bonjour Buddy list the names of the Buddies.
Therefore I can see my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard/iChat 5 and the G4 Leopard/iChat 4) in the Bonjour Buddy list.
    To summarise the last section.
The computers AND the Address Card for the Mac user on that computer needs to be different in each case.
The Computer names show in the Shared items in the Finder's Side Bar and then the Address Book/Contacts Name appears as the Buddy in the list.
My iMac uses the Sig Pic I use here as the buddy pic.  The G4 using Leopard and iChat 4 uses the Leopard skin looking pic and the photo one is used on my Snow Leopard/iChat 5 computer.
I have moused over the "Buddy" Ralph Johns to bring up the info panel also in the pic to show it is from my MacBook Pro which shows the computer name plays a part in this.
Cloning computers before upgrading them or even Cloning a Mac User account from one computer to another will cause issue if the Computer names  or the My Card details are not changed.
I normally use mine for transferring Pics  but I have also Texted between iChat 5 and Messages 8 today.
I hope this helps you find out which settings may need changing.

We have a customized SAP IPC application running on SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 and it is communicating with another application called Common Configurator or C2 running on WebSphere 4.0.5.
Communication between customized SAP IPC application and C2 application is over RMI IIOP. SAP IPC application calls methods on stateless session beans in C2 application.
Going forward, we want to connect to C2 running on Websphere 6.0 from this customized SAP IPC.
When I am trying to connect to C2 on Websphere 6.0 I am getting the following
    exception :
org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM:   minor code: 0  completed: No
         at org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextHelper.narrow(NamingContextHelper.java:48)

         at javax.naming.InitialContext.init(InitialContext.java:217)
         at javax.naming.InitialContext.<init>(InitialContext.java:193)
But the same setup is working fine for SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 and Websphere 4.0.5.
Has anybody faced similar issue before ?
Could anyone tell me what could be the possible reasons and how can I preceed on this.
    Additionally,
SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 uses ORB implementation of the Sun JDK (1.3). And Websphere 6.0 is based on JDK 1.4 version.
    Thanks in advance.
    Harman

This is what class org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM all about :
<i>Exception thrown when a parameter passed to a call is out of range or otherwise considered illegal. An ORB may raise this exception if null values or null pointers are passed to an operation (for language mappings where the concept of a null pointers or null values applies). BAD_PARAM can also be raised as a result of a client generating requests with incorrect parameters using the DII.
It contains a minor code, which gives more detailed information about what caused the exception, and a completion status. It may also contain a string describing the exception.</i>
<b>And Websphere 6.0 is based on JDK 1.4 version.</b> The JDK of websphere is an IBM implementation and differs a lot from the sun implementation. As well, WAS6.0 supports J2EE 1.4 also...may be you should check the release notes / documentation of WAS for compatibility issues if any.

  • Cisco Catalyst Supervisor communication issue?

    Hey all,
I had a slight issue regarding two supervisor engines on a Cisco Catalyst 4500 device where the keepalives between the two sups lost communication for roughly 50~ seconds.  This triggered an SNMP alert but it looks like they regained connectivity before a switchover was initiated.  Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?

You obviously need to configure the ports etc. but the switch should recognise the module as long as you have an IOS that supports it.
There is nothing extra to do, you just slot the module in.
If you are connecting all your distribution switches to the 6500 then if you don't need a vlan/IP subnet in multiple buildings then you should use L3 connections to the 6500.
Note also that you may want to consider at some time in the future a second supervisor or another chassis as this 6500 with one supervisor is a single point of failure ie. if it goes then there is no communication between buildings.

  • 2253iX California Power Supply USB Communication Issue FIXED

I figure I would post this in the event someone else runs into the same issue.
When trying to communicate to an 2253iX California three phase power supply through USB using labVIEW, it would always fail in the initalization block, when asking the unit for the model ( *IDN? ). The display on the instrument would display Error -113 "Undefined Header" Turns out the USB Com port driver doesn't work when registered as COM9 or greater. It has to be COM0 through COM8. Uninstalling a device in that range and reassigning the power supply's COM fixed the issue.

    not surprising...
I have been using California Instruments 5001iX AC source and 3091LD AC load for years and communications (RS-322, GPIB, USB)  have always been hit and miss when answering an *IDN? query.
Even the newer series 2 models have these issues, but seemingly only with *IDN? query.
I just put a loop in to query it several times before giving up.
Also I have found Ci's set of IVI vi's are usless crap and have made my own using SCPI that work a lot better.
What really makes me sad is Ci is still far superior than Elgar when it comes to AC power sources.

  • Field Point FP-1000 communication issue - Device found but offline in MAX

    Hello,
I am trying to control several field point PLCs in a level tank. They are communicating through a FP-1000 module. I am able to add the devices through a configuration file in MAX. But there is an error saying " The device is offline. Make sure the device is connected and its power is on. " All of the field point PLCs have green light on for both " Power" and "Ready". I am not sure what the issue is here. I am using Labview 2014 and Field Point , VISA drivers are installed. Please see attached pictures for details.
    Many Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I installed the most updated version for both ones. It turns out the configuration file for FP-1000 bank points to the wrong COM port for the Serial communication. I am able to communicate with the system now. I do have another problem through. I only have excutable labview files and a configuration file for the control system that I am working with. The original VI project file were lost. After importing the right configuration file in MAX, I installed the excutables and tried to run it. There is no response at all.The labview only last a few seconds and stopped. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
