Ichat av's audio chat is malfuntioning

Question

i know that it is free and you get what you pay for, but is the audio chat supposed to close out 2 or 3 times in the 1 or 1 1/2 hour chats that i have with my friend every night. this concerns me because we are both running 10.4.3 and are on new ibook g4s. we are also both on cable connections. is this happening to anyone else?

Hi Ben,
This can happen due to many reasons. For example, if you're talking to a friend in California from Memphis, there could be congestion/lots of internet traffic between the two points.
ISP's can have issues at times, or high-peak times, and thus the connection could drop. There are so many factors that come into play. I wouldn't say it's "normal" nor would I say it's a bug - it's just the nature of the internet sometimes.
There's certainly nothing wrong with your iBooks nor your cable connections. Think of it as using a cell phone, sometimes. When you make a call, sometimes the connection will drop for no apparent reason (when in reality, there is a reason unbeknownst to you). It happens. If you're look for near 100% reliability, there's always the phone
