IChat claim i did not respond when I try to run a Video chat. Resolution?

I am using a Macbook 2.16 White with OS X 10.4.9
Whenever i try to open a video chat with a friend using iChat 3.1.8, the dialog box says "starting connection" and then "connection failed because you were not accept connection" or something similar to that.
Now, i have seen other posts about routers and such, but I am kind of new to this wireless business and configuring those things. Please give me simple instructions if any. I am using netgear router, but i do remember using video chat with the router once before. However, since then, video chat has never worked with the above mentioned symptoms.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jerrin89,
It is possible (for the unscrupulous) to trawl these pages for email addresses (even out of date trial accounts like Defcom's)
It becomes common practice to write emails in the form of
somebodyatsomeemailserver.com
or as Defcom has done leave out the distinguishing @ sign at let people fill it in.
However with adding account/Screen names to iChat you don't need to add the @mac.com bit as iChat does it for you so it becomes easier to write it the way Defcom does, saying which account type it should be added under.

  • Air not responding when i try to run apps

Hello, I am very new to Adobe air, installed it for the first time within the last month. Ive installed this on 2 machines and it works fine on them.
Ive been trying to get it to work on this laptop for about a week now and I cannot figured it out. ive searched and searched and searched but cant seem to find anything.
Installation of Air seems to go fine but when try to open apps (lontail pro or market samurai) it opens an adobe air process that appears to do nothing at all.
    Please help!!

I would recommend using Microsoft's MSI Fix It utility to uninstall both AIR and Long Tail Pro.  Once uninstalled, go and install AIR from http://get.adobe.com/air then install Long Tail Pro again.

    Hi cruzsanta03,
Can you please let us know the following:

Pages is "not responding" when I try to open any document on a Lion Operating System, Macbook Pro. What can I do?

Ah then that is the issue.
    1. Is Pages registered? It turns into a demo version after 3months otherwise.
    2. This makes it interesting as to what happens if it has, because a demo version can't/won't save and I'm curious if this causes a bug in the ever so wonderfully thought through process of versioning in Lion
    3. There may actually be a problem with one of the documents which again causes a bug in the ever so wonderfully thought through process of versioning in Lion
    4. You are entitled to AppleCare telephone support to try ands resolve this in detail which is difficult to do without seeing what is actually going on because there are multiple files involoved
    5. Which raises the issue of does it freeze consistently on hitting a certain document? In which case moving or archiving that document may get Pages to actually launch

10.7.4 is the latest update of MacOS X Lion. Run Software Update in System Preferences.
Since you state to run 10.7.2, Software Update will have to use the combo updater to bring it up to 10.7.4. This will entail a large download that will take some time so have patience. I suggest the following steps:
Restart the Mac, press and hold Command-R to start up in Recovery Mode (More info: http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/ ).
If needed, select the desired language to move to the next screen (only if it is the first time in Recovery Mode).
Select Disk Utility in the bottom of the list, Continue...
Choose the hard disk drive device on the list ( xxx.xx GB APPLE HDD ...) by clicking on it.
Click on Repair Disk button, wait for it to finish.
Choose the Lion boot volume, Macintosh HD, by clicking on it.
Click the Repair Disk button, wait for it to finish. If any errors are found and the process does not end with a "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK." message, click on Repair Disk again.
Click on the Repair Disk Permissions button. This will take awhile to finish.
Quit Disk Utilities, choose Restart from the menu.
Now run Software Update in System Preferences, choose to apply all missing updates. This will take quite awhile, depending on how fast your Internet connection is. The Mac will need to be restarted when the updating is done.
Run Software Update again to have Safari updated to the latest version. This is necessary since Safari 5.1.7 needs OS X 10.7.4 to be running already.

  • ITunes 11 Not Responding When I Try to Burn a CD

So.. I have a Windows PC, Windows 7 64Bit. I installed the latest version of iTunes.
When I insert a CD-R to burn, it immediately goes into "NOT RESPONDING" mode.
Now, I don't even get that pop-up that allows me to choose CD, Data Disc or MP3 disc. That no longer pops up as it's already in NOT RESPONDING mode.
So, here's what I have tried.
(ALL of these steps did NOT fix the issue)
    Deleting and re-installing iTunes.
Tried 6 different brands and types of CD-Rs. Regular, LightScribe, Memorex brand, Maxell brand, Philips brand, etc. No difference.
Updating the drivers of the DVD-ROM/recordable drive.
    Did a Window update.
Deleted the drivers for the drive and let Windows Re-install them
Uncheck the "Search Entire Library" option in hourglass search because that, too, freezes iTunes 11.
    Repair iTunes (vs. remove).
When none of this worked, I said "Forget this, iTunes 11 isn't stable. I'm going back to version 10.7!"
    So, I uninstalled/removed iTunes 11.
I found the install for iTunes 10.7.
I tried to install iTunes 10.7
I got this error: "iTUNES 10.7 Cannot be used because the iTunes library was created in a later version of iTunes"
    Lovely.
So, what was left?? I tried SYSTEM RESTORE.
    Re-installed iTunes 11.
    Did not help.
When I tried to re-install iTunes 10.7, it would NOT open so I cannot go find PREVIOUS iTunes Libraries and use those.
    PLEASE help! THANKS!!

  • Spinning circle * Thunderbird is not responding when I try to write or access emails. I had attempted to delete a bunch of old txt messages in seldom used Gmail

I saw I had almost 30,000 txt messages on a Gmail account that I had created a gmail account for on Thunderbird. I didn't realize that they were going here from Gmail. I highlighted all of them and attempted to delete them. The spinning circle finally went away and all of them were gone. But when I tried to do anything else on Thunderbird with my regular email accounts (Comcast & Hotmail), I would get a spinning circle and Thunderbird is not responding. I had to use Ctrl Alt Del and then reopen. I tried compacting but this morning when I tried to write an email from one of my Comcast emails in Thunderbird, again I got the spinning circle and Thunderbird is not responding. In order to do anything, I have to close the program by hitting Crrl Alt Del and try again.
My Trash Local folders says 8300.
This morning, when I tried accessing Thunderbird at the bottom of the taskbar it said, "downloading....of 17,000 to All Mail. Had no clue what that meant. I let it continue until all were and thought my issue would be resolved. But no. :(
Something obviously got corrupted in the program. What do I need to do to fix this?
    Thank you.

  • ITunes does not respond when I try to play a movie

I just installed the latest iTunes update onto my Windows 64-bit computer and now, whenever I try to watch a movie on iTunes it freezes and does not respond. I have to start the task manager and end the program manually. I have unistalled iTunes and reinstalled it but I still face the problem of iTunes freezing and not responding. I have a pretty good collection of movies and would love to watch them cause well I paid for them but i cant because it keeps FREEZING. Also, it wont let me view trailers on the iTunes store so I'm thinking something is wrong with the 'video' part of my iTunes. Please help.

Although it's not such a good bet with a freeze as with the "iTunes has stopped working" messages, it would do no harm to try the following user tip:
iTunes for Windows 10.7.0.21: "iTunes has stopped working" error messages when playing videos, video podcasts, movies and TV shows

We had a Windows XP net framework update yesterday KB982524, and ever since than when we try to log on to mozilla the program will not respond. We tried re-starting a couple of times with no luck.

I have a similar problem. I updated Firefox to 3.6.4 a few days ago. Then I tried to load Microsoft update KB982524. KB982524 would not load correctly. After that Internet Explorer will not start. I get a very brief flash of Internet Explorer running, then the window closes. So now I cant run Microsoft Update.

  • After 2 or days use, if the browser is open, I keep getting "Not Responding" when I try to do any thing...I am up-to-date...version3.6.17

Actually I had this problem before when I would leave my self on Facebook, but it went away with version 3.6.16, but since the update to 3.6.17, it's back and really annoying, gotta click the mouse 3 to 5 times just to get an action. the message" Firefox( not responding) appears at the top in the "Header". ...Yes , I'm keeping up-to-date with flash and Java. Help, Please...I LOVE this browser.

To rule out Flash as a potential culprit, could you try one or both of the following:
    (1) Disable the Protected Mode feature of the Flash Player plugin.
The following pages provide different ways to do that:
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (restarting Firefox might help) before this would take effect.
    (2) Set Flash to Click-to-Play ("Ask to Activate").
This will delay Flash from starting on a page until you approve it, which will help distinguish Flash-generated issues from page load and layout issues.
To set "Ask to Activate", open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.

  • Installer freezes after download is done. Instantly goes into not responding when I try.

Instantly says not responding the second I try to run it. I deleted the install file and tried to re-download, but I get the same problem. I don't know if it helps at all, but this is the error it was giving me in console when I would try to run it and it would stop responding.

    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.
