Ichat client get disconnected

I have ichat client on both leopard and tiger and they all get disconnected at some point in the day, all pretty much at the same time. I'm thinking it's either the server that disconnects everybody or there is some time limit from the client side, I don't know. I have the standard server configuration, everybody has a static IP from our provider, no extra firewall but the one provided by the system, no gateway on the server either and the server is running it's ichat server I think with the kerberos authentication. Can I change that with the standard install and set it to name and password? In documentation, it says that kerberos gives a ticket for a period of time, how long? Can I tell it to be unlimited? All macs are always on, they don't go to sleep because of backups during the night. On my computer, I quit ichat with a script loaded in ical, at 7pm, and relauch it at 8 am, but I too, get disconnected around 10am. So I'm not sure that the time limit is the issue either.
Anybody else having this problem with Leopard server 10.5.2?
Jeff

I am having a similar issue, could you check your ichat log and see if you see any messages similar to the one's I am getting?

  • IChat Clients getting disconnected

    Hi
for some reason iChat clients on our server seem to get randomly disconnected after periods of non useage.
They don't get disconnected for the file shares though.
No they aren't set to sleep or spin down either.
Its really odd almost like ichat has been set to disconnect idle users.
    Any thoughts or explanations.

It is common for firewalls/NAT to close connections that are inactive for a period of time. Suggest you cross post this in the ichat client discussion group as well http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=139

  • 5508 WLC on 7.4MR2- Clients getting Disconnected using CWA

We are experiencing an issue with clients getting disconnected/time out from a wlan doing CWA.  The clients are iphones.  A debug client shows the error(Unknown Policy Timeout). This particular WLAN is used for provisioning with ISE. ISE shows the user authenticated the entuire time.  At first, we though it was the user idle timeout setting on the WLAN advanced tab, but after increasing that clients still get disconnected.  The disconnect occurs around 2 minutes.  Sometimes longer around 10 minutes.  Cisco seems to think we are hitting a bug introduced in 7.3.112 and will not be fixed until 8.0.  Below are the bug details and the debug output.  Has anyone seen this?  Any possible work-arounds? Thanks.

  • Wifi clients get disconnected in WLC - LAP solution

    Hello all,
I would like to know what are all possible reasons for wireless clients to get disconnected from LAP (to WLC) solution. We have WAN (MPLS) between LAP and WLC and on the remote site (where we only have LAP, since WLC is in central site) we have clients disconnecting
This is the error that we see in the traplog:
Decrypt errors occurred for client XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX using WPA key on 802.11b/g interface of AP XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
Can anyone tell me what can be wrong? Can packet loss cause this? Packet loss of which packets? Data packets or some other packets? Or can network delay produce this? I know we have fragmentation and maybe it can be that fragments are failing somewhere. But I would like to know what should happen in order for this message to be displayed and client to be disconnected
    Thanks
    Milos

    Hello,
I find out the answer couple of days ago. I totally forgot about this post :)).
Finally, problem was in fragmented packets that were lost in defragmentation in the devices in the middle (between Cisco WLC and LAPs)
I found out very annoying fact that Cisco WLC is not supporting ICMP redirect messages. In my scenario, some switch was returning ICMP redirect to every client on network where WLC resides. But since WLC doesn't support ICMP redirects, it keep sending fragments to this switch and eventually we had a lot of duplicated fragments going through our firewalls.
Those duplicated fragments were eventually start dropping and after this, we started having a lot of errors such this one, and also errors in log showing reply attacks and clients unable to authenticate.
As soon as the network was redesign to aviod ICMP redirects to ever happen (moved other firewalls on separate LANs so only switch was the only gateway for WLC), this problem stopped
    Thanks

Is the termination reason is due to exceeding transmit queue limit of 15000 messages or not???
If yes kindly suggest the resolution of the same.
It would be a great help to me.

  • How Server will know when some client Get disconnected

    Hi...
I am devloping a chat application.... there are loats of users. and one user can have many friends in his/her list. and showing in two groups as Online And Offline.
How Chat Server will know what is the user's Status(online or offline) When the user will get disconnected due to Internet failure
" Let you are a user having 10 friends, and when you loged in, at that time you have 5 online friends and 5 offline friends. lets after some time one of your online friend get disconnected from server due to any kind of netwrk failuer, then how server will know about it."

When the server tries to write to the socket and verify that it is OK, then it will return an error.

  • Lync clients gets disconnected

    Hi guys,
I have a customer running Lync Server 2013 Std pool and a Lync Edge server as well as Lync 2010 clients.
Users can work perfect from both within and outside the corp network.
The only issue we are experiencing now is that internal clients cannot join Lync meetings that other organizations are hosting.
My question is if the Lync client talks directly to other organizations Edge / reverse proxy infrastructure or if the Lync clients goes through its own Edge server before accessing the remote organizations environment. (edge to edge)?
This is so I can understand where to start troubleshoot this issue.
    - verifying the firewall rules again
    - verify any proxy (does lync work flawless via client proxy servers?)
    - enable logging in the lync client (maybe dont get that information from eventviewer?)
    - use OCSLogger/Snooper on the Edge server to narrow down any red errors
    - ask the client to join the meeting outside of their network
    Any other suggestions?

    Hi [fredrik],
The media traffic will through their Audio/Video Edge service.(Edge to Edge)
And if the external clients can join the Lync meetings that other organizations are hosting, there will be no problem with federation.
You could refer to the following article and troubleshoot your problem.

We have a 2504 WLC, recently past few weeks all the WiFi clients are facing frequent WiFi disconnectivity issue.
I think you're "barking at the wrong tree".  Co-channel interference won't cause widespread clients disconnection issues.
What kind of clients are getting this issue?  Computers?  Smartphones?  Tablets?
    What's your encryption/authentication settings?
Have you tried running a debug on the clients during disconnection and reconnection?

  • Why do I keep getting disconnected from Ichat?

why do I keep getting disconnected from Ichat?

Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443(press return/enter(you might have to tick and untick SSL for 443 to stick)).
    Log back in again.

  • Can't get iChat server 10.4.8 to work with iChat client on Tiger 10.4.8

    Guys/Gals
I have this problem as well - I am running 10.4.8 latest updates as of today on the ol' Powerbook G4. I am setting up the iChat Server on the Xserve we have and somehow my client would not connect - they both are on the same LAN and the firewall is disabled on the Xserve - hence no firewall issues etc.
The server starts up ok looks like:
Nov 15 11:57:55 myserver iChatServer-jabberd[6497]: 20061115T16:57:55: [notice] (-internal): initializing server
Nov 15 11:57:55 myserver iChatServer-jabberd[6497]: 20061115T16:57:55: [notice] (-internal): server started
The server log however shows the following message whenever I try to connect:
Nov 15 11:59:27 myserver iChatServer-jabberd[6497]: 20061115T16:59:27: [alert] (mio_xml.c:185): [junk after document element] XML Parsing Error:
Now I have not modified anything at the server end. Funnier is that I connect happily to Google Talk and our other Jabber server that runs on another box.
    Something awfuwwy scwewy awound hewe.
    Any clues would be appreciated.
    Thanks much

Something more to add to this:
I tried Exodus, a freeware jabber client on PC - that works ok with the server - using SSL etc. so there is nothing wrong with the server. The iChat client I have on my machine seems to be the culprit - it somehow sends a wrong message - "XML parse error" - How do I make the iChat server not use SSL so that I can see what is being sent ? Currently the packet capture (tcpdump) shows garbled message - ahem - read encrypted. The SSL option in settings shows only "Default" and it does not let me select the other option.
How do I tackle this ?

  • After updating to windows 8.1 my wire less internet connection is getting disconnected intermittently

,but that is not helping.kindly provide me the guidance.
when i searched in internet i am able to see many people are struggling with this same issue .

    Hi,
You can refer to this blog, and try to roll back to the older version of network adapter driver to check the results. Other suggestions can also be used to troubleshoot your issue.
Windows 8.1 Wifi showing "limited" or "No Internet Access"

Meanwhile, please check with the manufacturer of your router to update the firmware.
If the issue persists, please help to collect following information for further research:
    1)            Enable RAS Tracing on the client.
    -              Over an Administrative command prompt.
    -              C:\> netsh ras set tracing * enabled
    2)            On the client enable the following log as well:
    -              Over an Administrative command prompt.
    -              C:\> netsh trace start scenario=netconnection capture=yes tracefile=c:\net.etl
    3)            Now, turn off Wireless adapter on the client and Turn it back ON for making it to authenticate. Once it fails to connect to the Wireless network, proceed to the next step.
    4)            Disable RAS Tracing on the client.
    -              Over an Administrative command prompt.
    -              C:\> netsh ras set tracing * disabled
    5)            On the client disable the following log as well:
    -              Over an Administrative command prompt.
    -              C:\> netsh trace stop
    6)            Please provide the following files:
    From the Client:
    a)            ZIP folder of C:\Windows\Tracing
    b)            C:\Net.etl and C:\Net.cab
Upload these files in SkyDrive and post back the shared link.

  • Everyday around 3 to 4 PM all RDP sessions (around 50) getting disconnected

    Hi,
We have a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server (workgroup) with SQL Server and C# application installed on the same terminal server.
Around 50 users access this terminal server. Since 15 days, everyday between 3PM to 4 PM, all the 50 user sessions gets dicsonnected at the same time and without anything done on the server, users can RDP again and work without any problems.
Verified event logs, terminal server logs, network, firewall, router etc. everything is working fine.
Only thing observed is, when RDP sessions gets disconnected, we see PING time out.
Any help to address this issue is appreciated.
    Raghuveer.

Hi this is the error, users are experiencing.
The session won't go into disconnect status, it stays ACTIVE only in the terminal server.
User session freezes for 5 to 15 seconds and the same RDP session continues to work without any manual intervention.
Is this network issue ? We ruled out network cable, routers problems if any in both client and server locations.
    Error: Reconnecting
The connection has been lost..Attempting to reconnect to your session...
    Connection attempt 1 of 20
    Enabled following :
    Open Group Policy Object Editor:
    (command line: gpedit.msc)

Click on Keep-Alive Connections and select enabled.
Any other suggestions is beneficial to us to fix this issue.

Use profiles for the wifi settings on the iPad
A reset of network settings will clear the network history, but the profile will add it back in automatically
