IChat connection. Need help getting it to work. AAAHHHGGG!!!

Hi Macers
My sister just bought a mac and we were trying to connect through iChat but it would seem that we missed something in the setup.
If there is anyone who has solved there iChat connectivity using wi-fi please explain how to do it. I have searched and tried every suggestion to no avail.
I connect through a D-Link DSL-300G modem and DI-524 router.
Please reply as ths is driving me nuts.
Cheers and thanks
Kaisoboy

Thanks for the feed back folks.
I do not have a wireliss modem. the modem is conected to a PC and from there the router for wi-fi is conected.
I logged into the router setup went to www.portforward.com for instructions followed the instructions for the DI-524 router. I did see the static IP address but did not want to change it from automatic IP for fear of not being able to alow other wireles PC laptops in the hows from working. So what your saying is I need to assign a static IP address to my mac and would I also have to do this to my fathers PC laptop also so that he can use wi-fi. I was also looking on the router setup for the UPnP but did not find it.
Could you possibly if you have time walk me through this set up process in steps. I am good with computers but I have never done this kind of thing before. :P
Thanks again and Cheers.

  • Need Help Getting ARD to Work

I just started working for a new company, and I'm having trouble getting Remote Desktop working to control my home computer. When I try to login, I get the message, "Connection failed to "XXX.XXX.XX.XXX". I know my home machine is setup properly, because it worked fine from my previous employer's office. I suspect that the port ADR uses is blocked.
    1) Is it possible for ADR to communicate over a non-standard port? How?
    2) Without involving IT, how do I find out which ports are open? (Their attitude is that my preferred method of working is unsupported, but if I want to figure it out, they won't interfere.)
I'm very computer literate but not particularly network savvy, so I'd appreciate more verbose answers. Thanks.

  • Need help getting sRGB settings working right.

After reading lots of input from all kinds of sources I decided for my purposes it is best to set my Photoshop CS4 to sRGB. The problem I'm having is that quite often if I drag and drop an image as a new layer on another image I get a warning asking me if I'm sure I "want to convert colors to a destination document with a color profile that does not match the current RGB working space?"  It then goes on to tell me that my source is sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and that my destination is Adobe RGB (1998) and that the working is sRGB IEC61966-2.1.   Since I have set my Photoshop under Edit>Color Settings to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and  I have my camera's color setting at sRGB I'm wondering why the window is telling me that my destination is Adobe RGB (1998).  I initially shoot in RAW and then open my photos in Camera Raw in Bridge and when I'm done with whatever changes I want to make there I simply "Open Image" which, of course, opens it in CS4 where the color setting, again, is sRGB.  What else do I need to change to get everything operating under color setting sRGB?
Thanks for any help you can give.

The camera color setting only applies to jpegs that you shoot.
If you are shooting in RAW then your image doesn't have a color space applied to it until you open it in Photoshop.
At the bottom of your Camera Raw window is a blue hot link. Click on this to open the Workflow Options.
There you can change the Color Space, Bit Depth. Size and Resolution that your image will open as in Photoshop.
These settings in ACR will override any settings you have for your default color space in Photoshop

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra: Need help getting it to work with Vis

Does anyone know if the Zen Xtra will work with Windows Vista 32-bit's? I have tried installing the software that came with my MP3 player on my laptop that runs with Vista and it just doesn't work. Are there new drivers that I need? Please help!

i just found another, easier way to make you zen xtra work with windows vista
go to the support page and download the oldest driver, i think it's version .30 or somehting like that
install that- it should prompt you to overwrite a newer version of the driver, if it does, say ok
vista might then ask you if it installed correctly, say no, and run the installation in compatibility mode
then download the oldest version of nomad explorer, and install that
instead of using the preset instalation directory, select browse
i'm not sure if this has any effect, but i think some of the folders are renamed for vista
when the installation is finished, select "restart my computer now"
if you wait, it may not work properly
this should get nomad explorer running properly with vista
if you don't like this program and prefer creative media source organizer, you can now transfer your music to your harddri've and update your firmwar, without having to worry about external storage, a dual boot system, or any of those messy options

  • Need help getting Forms to work

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle 8i EE on RH6.2. It was working fine until I installed Forms6i. I believe that I have installed Forms6i correctly; however, whenever I try to connect to the listener i get the error: TNS-01150: The address of the specified listener name is incorrect.
I also get the following error when I try to connect to svrmgrl: Error in loading shared libraries.
If anyone could help me with this I would really appreciate it!
    Thanks,
    Mel

    hi;
1.test the connectivity while creating the listener
2.you might have used thewrong protocol while going for the listener in net 8 easy configuration
3.write the name of the listener in the host string

  • Need help getting my i810 working: Function keys, brightness, ext. VGA

    Hello everyone,
I am going to do a presentation in a few days, so this has become a bit urgent...
On my i810-based Samsung Q10, the function keys for changing display brightness and switching to an external monitor do not work properly. Altering the brightness causes the mouse pointer to disappear, switching to the external VGA port does not work at all.
Before my switch to Arch, this has never been an issue for me; they worked in every OS and graphics mode I had on the machine. Hence, I assume that Arch's X configuration somehow tries to capture those key events and pass them on to the driver, instead of to the video BIOS. However, I don't know where this might happen...
Searching the forums did not give me any working solution so far.
My driver is configured as follows:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Onboardchip"
    # Driver "intel"
    Driver "i810"
    VendorName "Intel"
    BoardName "i810 onboard"
    Option "HWCursor" "off"
Option "AccelMethod" "exa" # neu, skaliert im Betrieb hoch
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy" # macht 2D flotter
    EndSection
The intel and i810 drivers both show the same behaviour.
Does anyone have any ideas? I would not like to have to do my presentation in Windows, especially now that KDEMod has this beautiful new design ;-)
    Many thanks in advance
      Jürgen

The first thing i would check is in the Keyboard and mouse prefs pane to see if you selected to use the function keys for software features. If so, you need to use the fn key(bottom left of keyboard0 with the function keys to use those hardware functions. Then check to see that the num lock key isn't on, which usually affects the keyboard.
If it's neither one of those, it is probably hardware. Could be a loose wire if you lifted up keyboard at all.

  • Need help getting site to work in IE7... works in all other current browsers

I am somewhat new to web design and css. I am using Dreamweaver cs4. My site works well on Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and IE8.
The client decided to tell me that the site does not work in IE7 and they wanted it fixed to please 2 of their clients. Yes, just 2 clients.
The original issue was that the site was panning to the right in the browser window (IE7) instead of being centered in the wrapper, in which I learned that IE7/6 does not support auto margins. So I worked to fix that and it centered properly. Now the submenus under contact are not working/showing up... only in IE7. The menus are hand coded via css as the original spry menu wasn't working for any IE versions. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I think I may have over-coded? I originally thought it was a z-index issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,

  • Need Help Getting JavaBeans to work in Forms 6i

I have followed the docs of Dev6iR2 to use a JavaBean on a form and cannot see it, no matter what I try or where I put it.
I believe I have the correct location of all jars - other class files in the same jar (as well as the bean) are seen by the Importer and work via wrapped PLSQL class.
But the bean does not display on the screen at design time or run time.
If someone has gotten this to work I would like to speak with you.
Doing all this via email gets silly after a while.
And, yes, I have read the docs, and followed the examples and no I can't install the Forms Demos because the installer balks at installing into an installation with multiple homes....

    Hi Joe,
to install the demos, just ignore the installer...
1st, extract the zip... (you already did it, i guess)
In the win32\pmbf\6_0_8_8\demo\forms directory you'll find the demos (forms fmb's and fmx's).
copy them into a directory thats suits your own organization, or leave them there.
in demo\java you find the appropriate classe (and sources in \source\)
search for the location of the classes and jars of the standard forms developer installation and place them there.
When you now load one of the fmb's in the builder, just run them with the 'web' option (your locally installed forms server will start now and load the correspondent envirmonment of a correct installed web foems server).
Now you should see the working java beans embedded in forms.
The canvas view (in forms builder) does not work correct till now, perhaps check the official patches, they are at 7 at the moment.
The Beans ar not working in the standard runform mode, perhaps they fix it with further patches, but i don't think so, because the web option is designed and working for this purpose...
    cheers
    Michael

  • When i go to gmail it says "Not Found. The requested URL/accounts/service login was not found on this server" but it used to work and I need help getting it to work again.

I used to go to gmail all the time. Now it says "Not Found" whenever I go to gmail. Is there a reason for this and is there a way I can access gmail again?

You've been really helpful and I did what you said, but I'm still having a problem. I click on "tools", then click on "Add-ons", and when the box opens I click on "extensions". This is the problem" In the "Add-on" box under "extensions", it says "'''Microsoft.NET Framework Assistant''' 1.0. Adds ClickOnce support and the ability to report installed .NET versions to the web server. '''Not compatible with Firefox 3.6.3.'''" And underneath there are 3 boxes to click on: "options", "enable", and "uninstall". But it won't let me click on any of them. Also, the first thing before the text I just copied, is a red explanation point. This is the only thing that comes up under "Extensions". Any ideas? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks
