Ichat- Customizing the icon with personal photo?

Hi,
I figured out how to change the Buddy Icon to my own uploaded photo but the image is so tiny- is there any way to increase the size of it or customize the look of how it appears so it is not as small as a pinky thumbprint?

Hi,
It can also be editted in iChat.
Click on you current Buddy pic.
This will open a drop down of the last 16 pics (actually 15 plus one for a Blue globe if an @mac acccount or Running man for AIM names).
You have an option to Edit Picture
Click on that.
You can choose a new pic and this is then editable as to size and the orientation (centering) can be changed by dragging the pic about.
The section described by the box is then saved when you use the Set button as a sepearte.tif copy in the Recent Buddy Pictures folder (Users/(your mac user account)/Libarary/Images/Recent Buddy Pictures)
If the pic is already saved to 64 X 64 pixels there is little you can change except to naviagte to the folder listed above.
Nothing can be done to make it display bigger at your end or in your Buddies Buddy list or in a Text chat if you have chosen that option.

I have been working on a book and have 418 photos already in my book. All of a sudden I cannot access the book module and clicking on the multiple view, spread view, or single view does not take me back to the book I have been working on. I can no longer see my book although I still see the collection with 418 photos under collections. What I do see is a blank template for a new book and I can't find the unfinished book I started with 418 photos. It is like the new empty template is somehow covering it up. How do I get back to the book I have been working on?

Is it possible you mistakenly clicked on a [Clear Layout] button?
But a great hint is- Always click on the [Create a Saved Book] button, early in your new book design.
Then you have a permanent link to the book in the Collections panel. (In addition to the standard collection of your selected images)
Note: a Book Collection shows an icon that looks like a book.
Every time you come back to edit the book, open the Book Module by clicking on the white arrow that appears on the end of your Book Collection title. (The title as saved)
Re-opening a book without using the "Saved Book" option can have unpredictable results.
A "Book" Collection is like a "Smart Collection" because anything you do to the book design, change pages, change images, etc, is automatically updated in the Saved Book collection.

Yes - you need a min of 10 GB just to operate - with just 1 you certainly can lose photos and other critical things - you need to make space immediately - probably by moving your iPhoto library to a volume formatted Mac OS extended -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

I need to send an email message on the ipad with a photo as an attachment "not" inline in the message? I do not want the photo embedded in the email message. I'm using exchange on the ipad.

Apple Mail will display attachments that are one page or less. While the photo will be displayed it is sent as an attachment. The recipient can click and drag the photo to their desktop just like any other attachment.

Inconsistent results using the "places" view on the iPad with geotagged photos

I am getting inconsistent results with geotagged photos on the iPad (both 1 and 2) OS 5.01. It seems that sometime photos will show up in the correct location on the places view others will not ( they will not show up at all). In fact I can have a geotagged photo in one folder, synch with iTunes and it will not show up in the places view and then move that same picture to a different folder (which becomes an album on the iPad) re-synch and it will now show up at the correct location in the places view. All photos show up in the album view. Everything is the latest version iTunes, iPad etc. I can also have many photos geotagged exactly to the same location (exact same coordinates) some will show up, others will not.
I have used different methods to geotag my photos. At first I was using Photoshop Elements 8 until they stopped supporting geotagging photos. Now I am using a third party application GeoSetter (excellent free application). The GPS data is clearly in the Exif data but the results are not consistent.
Any ideas?

I believe I have solved this problem myself and thought others might benefit from what I found. It turns out to be what I believe as a glitch in iTunes. iTunes creates a cache of all the photos that you synch with your iPad, iPhone etc. Apparently it does not update that cache when you change the photo. At least not the Geotagging data. The file modify date was changing but that wasn't enough to cause iTunes to update the cache of the photos. I deleted the cache of all the photos and re-synched and presto now all my photos where showing up at the correct location in the iPad "places" view.
I might add that I called Apple tech support and was routed to a higher tier support person and was very disappointed with his response. He basically told me that the "place" view in the iPad and iPhone was designed to be only used with an Apple computer and Apple software and was surprised the places view was working at all with pictures synched with a Windows based machine. He also said he was unable to help me since he couldn't provide support for non-Apple products. Although I understand this to a point I think he was too quick to make this decision. The solution after all was a simple one and one I think he should have known. I would think this cache problem would happen whether I was using Apple products as well. I view this as a bug in iTunes. Apple needs to compare the modified date of the file and update the cache if it has changed.

How do I find the dir with personal settings ?

Hi all,
I can find the user's home directory and the FM install directory but not (yet) the dir where personal settings are stored. On my system this is C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\FrameMaker\10 but I this depends on the login name, Frame version and possibly Windows version as well.
Is there an easy method or property to get to this directory ?

What a coincidence, I had to deal with this just recently.
With FrameScript it would be Session.UserSettingsDir
But the ExtendScript interface does not allow easy access to as many properties as there are, so you have to question the list of all session properties and then find the one you want. I created a function to handle this, bhut currently used it only with this call:
getAppProperty(Constants.FP_UserSettingsDir);
I would gladly accept any hints to improve this function.

Report of the employees with no photo

Dear friends
We have uploaded some employees photos only, I want to know the list of employees whos photos are not uploaded in the R/3, please let me know how to take a report the employee wth no photo uploaded

Hi Kiran,
Run report OAADMILI via SE38 for the relevant content repository.
There restrict the output to PREL object.
There you'll see all the personnel numbers who have a photo in the SAP Object ID column (along with the infotype number e.g. XXXXXXXXYYYY where XXXXXXXX is the personnel number and YYYY is the infotype)
Then you can get the list of all the employees via Employee List.
Then you can make a comparison between two lists via Excel's VLookup functionality -or any other way-

DESKTOP ICONS: Customizing the icon preview transparency

Remove border/background icon preview:
I'm a designer and I need to know what images are transparent by looking at the icon. However, the new icon preview in Leopard shows a white background to my transparent gifs as well as a border. Not to happy when I have to open each file to find the right one. I wish the preview would show exactly what it is.
That said, is there any way to make it like it was in Tiger?

have you tried viewing them in the Coverflow mode? My transparent pngs display correctly in coverflow but do show the white border in all other modes.

Most pages do have a print button by default. To add any buttons to the ribbon does require code, not much code, but you do need to create the feature for this. See the example from Alex for adding a print button to the PDPs.

Custom Finder Icon with menu

I've just found a way to show/hide the hidden files with two little scripts and I wanted to add an icon in my finder's toolbar called "Hidden Files" with a submenu with two elements: "Show" and "Hide", each of these items launching one of my scripts. Could anyone give me an idea of how to do this ?

The problem with copying photos from iPhoto...

Good day! I have a problem. After the system upgrade to Mac OS X(version 10.7.1) iPhoto(version 9.1.5) program was absolutely not perform adequately. I do a lot and often edit the photos using iPhoto, and then copy the finished photos on removable media. After the procedure, Copy - Paste is that the images recorded on a media without correction. Please understand this situation, so how to use iPhoto with this error then I can not.

What does the icon with the Box with a Down Arrow do?

When I open certain messages, at the bottom toolbar instead of a trash can icon I get an icon that looks like a moving box with a arrow pointing down. When I have accidentally pressed it the message disappears. I cant find it in any folder or location? Any ideas what happens to the emails?

I noticed this new icon appeared after the latest iPhone IOS4 update. From my experience, clicking on that icon throws the email into the "filters" I've created in Gmail on my desktop computer. I'm not sure how it would respond if I didn't have a filter for a particular email. I think another forum user mentioned it gets dumped in the "all mail" folder. Not sure how that would be helpful. If someone from Apple could give us the textbook definition of this new icon and it's use, I'd appreciate it.

What does the icon with the red circle with a square inside (much like a power button) mean?

I've copied much of my home CD collection to iTunes but some of the albums will not play. They are shown in my libraries but when opened each song in the album has a redcircle with a square inside icon displayed. When I go to play an album with the red icons listed next to each song the app quickly scans through the list of songs - no audio and that's it.
What does this icon mean? And how can I correct the problem?
