Ichat don't recognize .MAC account password

I forgot my .mac pass, then i change it.
But my ichat 4.0.8 says it is wrong.

Upload the pic to a web site somewhere on the Web.
I use Skitch as it can take Snapshots, allow the arrows and writing and post to holding site which then give the code required.
You can use other sites such as PhotoBucket, Flickr or similar Image Hosting site.
After that it is a question of using some HTML Code.

In the pics I posted earlier there is a Button that says "Get an iChat Account"
It will lead here in iChat 4
This is what @mac.com names are used for now at Apple.
Did you get your name this way ?
OR did you have an .Mac account before it changed to MobileMe ?
Older .Mac (@Mac.com) names can be used in iChat if you used to pay for it and have stopped (Lapsed Account) or if it was a trial account and also if it is still used with a MobileMe account. (or they can be new as I mentioned above).
Basically I would like to know how you got the name.
From what you said you have entered the info into iChat and it appears in the Accounts List.
However trying to "Use this Account" does not get it to Login and an error message appears.
Does it look like this one ?
Or is it a smaller one ?

IChat won't recognize AIM account password

Hi, I tried to use iChat for the first time today by establishing an AIM.com account.
iChat has the right account name for me, but every single time I try to log in, it tells me that the password or id is incorrect. I can log into AIM.com just fine. I checked the iChat preferences and put in all the right information and it is still refusing to log me in, saying it is incorrect.
How should I proceed? I have an important video conference to do with iChat this week, very concerned. Thank you.

Can I ask if you registered a straight forward name as in ralphjohns or used and existing email address ?
If you used an email address does it have any unusual characters ?
For a long time the AIM servers have had links to various ISPs and Apple to allow those Email addresses to be valid AIM names (so [email protected] would work). However these try to confirm the password you have registered with those sources and certainly Apple Passwords can be longer than 16 characters which are then not allowed on the AIM Servers.
Registering a email address on the AIM registration page means you can set a password there and it should tell you if it were too long.
There is also the issue of special characters.
I have not tired to register an email ID but I do know that the regular method forbids certain characters.
I can foresee that AIM may check the email ID is valid but not check any character issues.
AS a test delete com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist and restart iChat.
This file in found in Hard drive/Users/(your account name)/Library/Preferences
This will force iChat to re-establish the Connection for login.
If that does not work go to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts section and the Server settings tab and change the port to 443
(SSL must be On for Snow Leopard and then press Enter to "Set" the change)
Also try it with SSL Off as the AIM SSL server falls over more often than the regular server.

My isync vs 1.5 doesn't recognize .mac account.

Tried to sync and it tells me I don't have a .mac account. I have 2. Need help.

I had the same problem last week and I sent an email to support. Here is their reply to me, copied directly from the email they sent (it worked, by the way!):
"We apologize for any confusion. According to your request you are currently using Mac OS X version 10.3.9. This version of the operating system does not sync through the .Mac System Preferences but through the iSync application.
Please open the iSync application from your applications folder. iSync for Mac OS X version 10.3.9 and below can sync: Safari Bookmarks, Address Book Contact and iCal Calendars and To Do items.
Once iSync is open please click the .Mac icon to set your syncing preferences. "

Outlook 2011 doesn't recognize .mac account

Since I upgraded to Lion, Outlook 2011 will not get my e-mails from my .mac account. I always get the message :
"The server for account .Mac / XXX returned the error (AUTH) Authentication failed. "Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?
I didn't change anything to my account since SL, and checked everything I could check, and it seems ok. Mail application works well and receives .mac messages, the problem is that I mainly use Outlook.
Should I change my incoming or outgoing server ? I am 10.7.2 and iCloud.

How to re-size pictures when you don't have .mac account

I don't have a .mac account so it is a pain to email pictures stored in iPhoto.
Some of my pictures are too big to be emailed and all i found so far to re-size the file is to go to File / Export and try out diff. window sizes until it works. Not great when you want to share 20 pic.
Any one knows of another way?

What email are you using?
The easiest way to send pictures is to use Apple's Mail.app that is part of the OS - it DOES NOT require a .Mac account.
If you are using a purely web-based email account, the File>Export method is the easiest.

IChat opens in my .mac account on both computers

What the heck did I do??
I use my .mac account on my iMac, and my wife use's her AIM account on the macBook, and we use iChat alot when I travel. Last week I set up "sync" using my .Mac account, and sync'd the 2 computers, now when we open iChat on either mac, they both open in my account, and my wife shows up on both computers as a "buddy",
How do I redo it, so my wife aim account opens on hers, so we can chat?

"highlight your account and untick "use this account" I did that, but that account and one that says "Bonjour" are the only accounts there, my wife account does not show up to select, and my .Mac account has a blue ball "sync" ? next to it, how can I add her account to use.

Ichat won't recognize aol login password

I'm trying to use iChat for the first time. I went online, created an aol account and password. When I lauch iChat it promps me to log into AOL instant messenger. When I enter my login ID and password I get an error that my login ID or password is incorrect. But I can go to the aol website and log in fine. how can I get into iChat and start using it?

Creating an AOL account can mean you ID looks like and email.
However the AIM messaging service tends to use only the username part.
IF you register via the AIM registration page it allows you to Activate email separately.
My AIM name comes from Registering a long time ago with Netscape ( A Browser that included AIM messaging)
It gave me an Email at my [email protected] where as my AIM login is just the username
If you registered via AOL itself the email tends to end @AOL.com but you should still try it as a plain username.

Don't know user account password

I transferred all the information from my pc to my mac pro. Now I have a problem.
I go to the user that it's under but I don't know the password for it. How in the world do I figured out the password. It's been years

Safari 2.0.3 : certain web sites don't recognize correct login/password

Just upgraded to 10.4.4 and with this to safari 2.0.3.
From this day on I can't gain access to some web sites that require a log/pass because it says it is incorrect. ( Note the password I type is the correct one and works with explorer...).
One of these sites is msn passport.net: in this case the web site asks me to rewrite some characters that appear in a box, and when I do it says that they don't match.
It seems as if the charcters I write are not interpreted the same way by the web site.
I have cookies active, I emptyied cache... don't have other ideas.
Anyone can be of help?

Update: I ran Console upon trying to load a web site that won't load. Here are the messages from that action with any identical messages deleted:

1. Don't have reinstall Lion option as I live/work in Africa and 2Gb runs about $50... + if it cuts out (which it did and does) then I have to restart download
2. Solved: via reset password utility at the very beginning, forgot where i found the link, but this was the solution
3. Suggestion: Apple, provide a freakin' EASY way for ppl to fix their machines, such as with last gen MBA...

How do you get password on old .mac account that has been changed? For some reason my iphone updates wants old mac acct password. Can I change that to new one I've had for years?

Years and years ago when I paid for an email address with mac.com I opened my itunes account and all. After getting tired of paying for an email account I made a new one, which I can't remember but I thought I changed it, but obviously the .mac stayed on. My itunes is a gmail account and I have no problems there. But today when I updated my iphone, after downloading, iphone asked me to enter password for the .mac account. Well I have no idea what that is now. I don't know how to even retrieve it. I can't find the settings to change it over to my gmail account either on my phone. I go to itunes and it has the gmail account listed, but when trying to activate some things that involved the update, it still asks for .mac account password. I'm beginning to think this is why I can't get authorization on some of my itune songs to play, they keep saying can't authorize when I am still within the 5 computer limit. I think I'm going to get a Droid...

If you are seeing the old Apple ID with regard to this Mac, then it would seem that somehow you have incorporated the ID in the setup of this new Mac.
Iphoto i use never used imovie.
If you began using iPhoto without having Accepted it into your Apple ID, then that would explain why you are unable to update the app. If any of the iLife apps are used without Accepting them into your Apple ID, the ability to accept them will lapse and you will not be able to update them.

Using my .Mac account, but iChat wants AIM. What gives?

I think I might be confused about how iChat works. I have a dot-Mac account, and have that information entered correctly in the iChat preferences. However, when I start iChat, it asks me for AIM account information. Am I mising something here? Does iChat only work with AIM accounts? I thought iChat worked with dot-Mac accounts, too (especially since I have the option of dot-Mac iChat encryption). Do I need to have an AIM AND a dot-Mac account (this doesn't make sense, but I suppose you never know)? I have tried deleted the plist and restarting the computer, but no matter how many times I try to rebuild my iChat account, it keeps asking me for AIM account info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

iChat uses the AIM servers to login and start Text chatting.
When iChat started Apple decided to join the AIM network and arranged that @mac names would be usable on the AIM system.
There is one drawback. Apple allow passwords of over 20 characters and the AIM system only allows 16 as a Max.
Is your password too long ?
When you go through the Start up Screens the place where you enter the screen name should be a drop down to be able to select AIM or @mac types.
You just have to select the @mac option

Using my .mac account on iChat AV (problems)

Hi, I've been using iChat AV with my .mac account since december, and it was all fine 'til some weeks ago.
From the end of may 2006 I have many problems using my .mac account in iChat AV.
Sometimes I can connect, but usually I can't connect! And the problem is the same on my iMac G5, on my old iBook G4 12" 1.33, and on my new MacBook 1.83...
When I try to enter with a AIM account it's fine and I connect!
But all my friends have my .mac account and I want to use it!
Can anyone help me?
P.S. I tried to use programs like adiumX, but I still have the same connection problem using my .mac account! And I still pay for it!!!!

Every now and then AIM sort out what they think are unused account names and make them available again.
Whilst they are doing this there are often problems with .mac names for some reason.
After the period that lots of people were having problems, there have been cases of invidual .mac users who have problems.
The solution is to speak to .mac and ask them to look into it.

E.mail alias with mac account does not work...

I created an alias on my mac account. I made a new account in mail app, but am not sure what username it needs. Does it need the original username of the account holder or the part that is before the at in the alias email address?
It keeps asking for my password when checking mail, I know the password is correct as it should be the same mac account password as always right?
I need the second address for business, and it is pretty urgent. Can someone enlighten me? I tried to look it up in the help, but I don't see anything.

You cannot access a .Mac account alias as a separate account in Mail.
The following was copied from Mail Help:
If you have a .Mac account, you can send and receive email using .Mac email aliases. An email alias is an alternate email address for your .Mac account.
To send a message from a .Mac email alias:
Choose File > New Message to open a compose message window.
Click the Account pop-up menu and choose the email alias.
When you send the message, it will appear to come from your email alias.
Messages addressed to your .Mac email alias will arrive in your .Mac account inbox.
To set up a .Mac email alias, choose Mail > Preferences and click Accounts. Select your .Mac account and click Account Information. Click Edit Email Aliases to go to the .Mac website. Log into your account. Click Accounts and then, in the Email Aliases section, click Create Alias (if none exist yet) or click the Add button (if at least one exists already). Enter a name for the alias and click Create Alias. The alias will then be available in the Account pop-up menu in new message windows.
If the Account pop-up menu doesn't appear in the compose message window, click the Action menu in the lower-left corner of the message header and choose Customize. Select the checkbox next to Account and click OK.
