Ichat just disconnects randomly with no message
i recently got my new macbook pro like 3 weeks ago and nothing is wrong with it but even since day one ill have ichat open (with only 1 AIM account set up on it) and itll just be open while im using safari or whatever and i would open up ichat and it would say "disconnected" where you select like avalible, away, invisible, ect. and i have no idea how long its been disconnected for because it doesnt give me a pop up message or anything when it disconnects?
i hope i explained that well. does this happen to anyone else?
NOTES:-
iChat is "Always On" when launched.
This means that is a lot more subject to small Internet breaks (mostly WiFi Interference).
A Browser or Mail for Instance only use the Internet at specific times such as changing pages and fetching Mail.
A small delay in changing a web page is normally not noticed not is a Mail fetch even when set to the shortest time period of 1 Minute.
It can take some time for these apps to notice that the Internet has "gone" completely.
As the Buddy list is updated constantly iChat will notice any minor break much more readily.
If the symptoms persist try changing the channel used by the routing device.
Most devices are set to a mid range number which can be the same as other nearby devices.
Choose one nearer one end of the range that your device offers (certainly the number of channels varies between the States and Europe so I will not suggest a specific Number).

I have an iMac OS X 10.6.8 and have problems with the backup drive to Time Machine ejecting itself and so does not automatically backup the way it is meant to do. It is connected with an USB cable to my iMac. What could cause this - malfuntioning drive?
The "iLife" apps are not part of any Mac operating system install and are a separate purchase.
Once you get past 10.6.6 you can purchase and download iPhoto, GarageBand and iMovie. iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued.
Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and higher include the App Store application which is what you use to purchase Lion. -
I have brought some movies and they just come up with this message that says it cannot be played on this iPod. I've bought movies before without iTunes Extras but these have iTunes extras and they don't want to sync with my iPod
Does anyone know what is wrong?Sounds like you are trying to sync the HD version of the video. You should try to download the Standard Definition copy instead and sync that to your device as HD content is only compatible with the 4G iPod Touch. See here for more information:

To prevent HD versions from being downloaded in the future head to the iTunes Store, click the Purchased link, and then select TV Shows and remove the tick mark next to Download HD when available. You should be able to download the SD version now from under this same page.

"iChat can't communicate with the jabber account, disconnected unexpectedly"
We are running a Snow Leopard server here in the office, but no one can connect to iChat with their given jabber id. I have tried manually putting the settings in, I have tried letting the computer configure them itself [through system preferences -> accounts -> login options and choosing the networked server], and I have gone through the manuals. I have gone into the server itself and made sure everything is on and functioning, but it just won't connect. I keep getting the same message. I'm guessing there's some small setting that I don't have set right, I'm just not sure what it is and don't even know where to start looking.

The only users I've tried to log on so far are [email protected] [myself] and [email protected], both got the same issue.

IChat disconnects randomly, delays before notifying user
Hi,
I've experienced the following problem for about a year now, on various operation systems and internet connections. iChat disconnects randomly but delays before notifying the user. The screen appears as though iChat is working fine, but the user, of course, cannot receive incoming messages. Outgoing messages appear to send fine, but the recipient does not receive them. After a few minutes iChat displays a warning message that says the user is disconnected, and after relaunching the application, it works fine.
Do you have any insights on this problem?

I see this problem occassionaly.
It seems to effect me most on Mondays and if the text chat person also wants to Video test.
Sometimes the Video chat fails but the text chat goes very slow and then deleivers several reponses all at once.
This could be several things.
AIM server update day.

I would think your is the second as I only have part of what you have. You have also got a PowerBook which I guess is not on to let the Cron scripts run at night. (see link)

Just got new air and trying to set up. When I put in my Apple ID and password it comes up with error message 'can't sign in because of server error. Try again signing on.' Trying again does not fix. I know my ID and PW are right as work on other apple devices I have.

i got the iphone 5 today and plugged it into my laptop to look on itunes and buy some apps. i done this and disconnected my phone from my laptop however the screen is just coming up with a usb cable pointing to an itunes logo and wont go off? iv tried everything and it wont go back to the orginal home screen, just keeps coming up with the usb cable pointing to the itunes logo. please can some one give me advise as iv only just got it today
it has been into recovery mode. connecting to itunes will solve your problem. if it didnt work connect it itunes and restore your iphone.

I have a 1TB WD external hard disk, which suddenly cannot be detected in my system. When i connect the hardisk to the macbook, the disk appears and immediately disconnects with the message "Disk not properly ejected". Any advice ?
verify on another Mac if the same
WD is having issues with mavericks as you can see on the WD forum, did you install any WD software (never do that) when you connected the drive for the first time?
possible issue is a dead SATA bridge card or the new WD firmware w/ Mavericks.

I just got an iTouch and whenever I try to sync it to iTunes it keeps poping up with a message that says something like "cannot sync or read file". What should I do?

Just downloaded newest itunes version. Now, it refuses to open, with error message, "This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the English version." Any thoughts?

I plugged my ipod into my computer to load up new tunes and it froaze on the time I dad connected it with the message 'do not disconnect' on the screen. Despite disconnecting and reconnecting it and ensuring it was charged up it will not operate. The 'lock' symbol is showing at the top of the screen even when I have moved the lock switch. I have been using my ipod for several years with no similar fault. What is the problem/solution?
I would first try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I've just updated OS to 10.10.1 and Finder keeps trying to open and then closes every 2 seconds with the message Finder is not Available. If Safari is opened with the window full screen it immediately closes and will only work with window smaller than maximum. Driving me mad! Any help please!!

just updated the lion os x, and now when I try to use my optus dongle, it comes up with the message saying that it won't work because Java Runtime needs to be installed. Help?
Have you run Software Update. You have Java already installed, but it needs to be updated.
