IChat missing from Messages App

I have the Messages app on my laptop and it used to have the option to go on iMessage or iChat. On the bottom left used to be the option to go online or offline on AIM. Also when adding accounts in preferences, I can't add anything but my number or email address for iMessage.
How do I get iChat back on Messages?

Your issue is a bit confusing. The Messages application is what used to be iChat in earlier versions of the operating system.
Can you clarify what you mean?

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Why are some apps missing from 'background app refresh'?

I noticed Runkeeper (current version) is missing from 'background app refresh'. In order to start tracking a run, it has to be enabled in BAF...but it's not there. I've rebooted and reinstalled - no dice. Any advice?

Go to the purchased tab of the app store on your iPad and try downloading them from there. Unless these apps have been updated to only work with a newer iOS version than what you are running, you should be able to download them again.

RichTech's Atomic Web Browser Missing From The App Store

Can anyone please check and see if they are able to locate and download this alternative browser on their iPad? I'm with a friend and we were trying to load apps on their new iPad and if you click on an outside link or try to search for it you get no results. It's like it's missing from the App store entirely.

Missing the Message App after Mountain Lion Update

My Macbook Pro totally crashed after the Mountain Lion update, and a wonderful tech support lady at Apple walked me though hours of restoring it. However, now that it is working fine and all programs re-installed, I noticed that the Message app is missing. I really like this app and want it back. I paid for the OS and think I should get everything I had before, plus the update. I shouldn't lose a program in the update, should I? I've read through all the other message boards and can find only general suggestions to search in the spotlight (which I did to no avail), and I have searched for a third-party download. After the trouble I've had, I really just want the program back from Apple. HELP!

If it did not get reinstalled for some reason, then you will need to reinstall. See the following. You can avoid this if you have a prior backup.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

IMessages from Message App received from Apple ID/Email address?

I downloaded Messages and my conversation with the same person shows up in the same thread whether I send it from my iPhone or through the Mac messages App. But for the RECEIVER of the message, it shows up as 2 different threads: one from my phone number and another from my email address. How do I get it to only show up as from my phone number for the receiver?

Push notifications from Messages App and other apps

Hello!
I've got my first Blackberry (Bold 9790), I have a problem: I don't know what I did before during set up etc. but now I have always doubles push notifications, for exemple, if I receive a message on Whatsapp I get a notification from Whatsapp App and from the Messages app, same for Facebook etc this is annoying me a lot, how can I restore Messages to show me notifications only for SMS and e-mails??? Or how can I get only one notification for all things happen and not receive notifications twice? thank you!!

UPDATEIn Whatsapp I unpluggged th eoption "show chat in the messages folder" and now when I get a new Whatsapp message, in the home screen I get the notification from the app (and not from Messages) but without the preview?!

MY ihpne 4s iOS 8.1.3 is missing the messaging app. I can receive messages, but when I click on it, nothing happens.I have restarted my phones, no restrictions on are, it is not in another folder, and i have reset my phone.

No. It's not gone. It's not possible to delete it or restrict it. You've moved it to another screen or into a folder.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout will put it back in the default location if you can't find it.

Saved contact from Messaging app but now showing in address book?

I got an sms message from a new number so i saved it from there to my address book on the iPhone 3GS. I'm slightly confused now as I have the contact named in my messaging app but the contact is now showing up in the address book? Can someone explain to me why this is the case?? Thanks

Pages is missing from my apps on my ISAC. I have reloaded the original disc, but nothing happens. My version is 10.6.8s

Some confusion here perhaps? The grey applications disc (disc 2) contains iLife, not iWork. iWork is a seperate DVD which you would have had to buy.
It's possible that the current versions of iWork applications available from Apple may not be compatible with Snow Leopard. There have been changes to introduce the Versions abonimation in place of 'save as' for instance.
If so, you need to seek a DVD of iWork '09, which will now only be available from third-party vendors and will be getting increasingly scarce.

My Photoshop CS5 is missing from the App. directory but the folder to reinstall has vanished. How can I reinstall???

I do not have a disc & believe I got it when I bought this desktop in 2011. All other software in the Creative Suite works fine but Photoshop says: "Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory. Please reinstall the application." Can anyone help me???

If you registered your Adobe applications, you can retrieve the s/n by accessing your Adobe account at the Adobe corporate web site.
You can do a search for the trial version.
You are NOT addressing Adobe, and I'm not inclined to do all your legwork for you. Sorry.

Programs missing from My App List

I have installed the software I want from Creative Cloud.
all the software is on my pc and installed and runs fine, but in my creative cloud window it doesn't show all of them under my apps.
Photoshop and illustrator are missing and still available for install?
in home it shows I installed them first. but under my apps they are missing??
If I install them again. will this cause any issues?
(surely it wont install a second copy?)

Apple Watch Contacts Missing on Messages App

When I receive messages, none of the messages have a name. I only see the phone number. I have the name information on the messages on my iPhone.

I didn't lose anything - not when installing 4.0.1 or 4.0.2.
Even if I had, everything on my iPhone in regards to music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and 3rd party apps are in my iTunes library on my computer, photos transferred from my computer are in my iPhoto library, contacts are in the Address Book, calendar events are in iCal, notes are in the Mail.app, Safari bookmarks are in Safari on my Mac. I always import photos and videos in my iPhone's Camera Roll so there would be no problem there either. And I have an iPhone backup I can restore my iPhone from for the data not included with the iTunes sync process.

How can I Remove Recent Contacts from Messages App?

iOS 7 had a feature I could use (found here: http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/remove-recent-contacts-iphone-messages/) that would allow me to remove recent contacts from iMessage via an info tab. I used the feature to fix iMessage vs SMS issues with contacts who switch from android to iPhone or vice versa. I've since not been able to find the feature after updating to iOS 8. Does anyone know where this message option went?

My issue is I cannot see the "circle I" info button for individual contacts, only for group messages or recently deleted contacts, the latter which changes the phone number to "other." I should have made that clear. I was once able to delete recent "saved-in-contacts" contacts using this remove from recents feature in order to restore or deactivate iMessage with that contact.

ITunes audiobook downloaded but missing from Music app

I purchased and downloaded an audiobook from iTunes but it does not show up in the Audiobooks section of the Music app.
It shows up on the device when I enter the title in the iOS7 Search bar (so it definitely downloaded).
It will play when I tap on the Search hit (so it downloaded successfully).
When I tap the "back" button while it's playing I get to the "Audobooks" page in the Music app: but the book isn't shown in the list of available titles!
So it's on my device but can only be accessed via Search.
I've force-quit the Music app.
I've hard-rebooted by iPhone 5.
I haven't synched to my Mac in 2 years (not even sure my Mac iTunes is up to date)

The exact same thing happened to me - I downloaded an Audiobook and it entered a black hole. This is ridiculous! I even tried pluggin it into my iMac and transferring purchases to my computer and then syncing it again that way and it did not fix the problem. It seems though that other audiobooks that I did purchase on my Mac and then transferred to my iPhone worked fine, but I'd rather not have to plug it in to my Mac.
