IChat not working in Snow Leopard- is there a solution?

I've been reading the previous posts and am not sure if a resolution to this problem was found.
I am unable to iChat between to me.com accounts. It says "starting video chat" indefinitely.
The Router in COnnection doctor says: Port Restricted. Is this something i need to change? I am using port 5190, with SSL UNchecked. Server says "login.oscar.aol.com".
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Change the Port to 443.
You have to now hit enter when you have changed it.
I had to turn SSL on first before mine would work (I Turned it off afterwards)

  • WxPerl not working in snow leopard

    Hello,
wxPerl seems to be not working in Snow Leopard.
    The command:
    wxPerl -e "use Wx;"
    Gives:
    Can't find 'boot_Wx' symbol in /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level/auto/Wx/Wx.bundle
    at -e line 1
Compilation failed in require at -e line 1.
    BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at -e line 1.
    Is this a known bug ? Is there a work-around ?
    Regards.

    Thanks!
I did both of what you suggested (and provided very detailed specifics of the wxPerl broken code) and was told:
1st Case (Feedback): No response to my feedback
2nd Case (ADC bug report): No response after obtaining an ADC account and filing a bug report
Next, I wrote a letter to Apple, addressed to the "Macintosh Software Development Manager," providing details of the wxPerl broken code problem, the "Problem Details and System Configuration" error log from one of the many failures while trying to launch the TivoTool 0.7.0 application, remarked on the length of time that this wxPerl code has been broken (broken in 10.5.x & 10.6.x software releases) and detailing how this is disabling the TivoTool application and any other user that is dependent on wxPerl functioning. I asked that a trouble report be opened, the problem resolved, and the fix be made part of a software update. Additionally, I requested an estimated date for this resolution to be included in a software update.
I also sent a copy of this letter and enclosures, along with a cover letter, respectively addressed to Mr. Steve Jobs, asking that he provide the proper resources to clear this long time defective code.
Within a couple of weeks (on March 5, 2010) I received a telephone call from an Apple Executive Contact (named "Nate"), due to the letter addressed to Mr. Jobs. After gathering details on the broken wxPerl code, he promised to contact the software development folks and get back to me with his findings. Within a week of this initial contact, he again telephoned (on March 9, 2010) to say that he had contacted the software development folks, provided the information from my broken wxPerl report, that a trouble ticket was opened on the wxPerl broken code problem, and that the wxPerl broken code problem appeared to be a "low runner," e.g. not many users had reported the wxPerl broken code. Additionally, since the broken code was a "low runner," there was no target date to fix the wxPerl broken functionality.
He suggested, until the wxPerl broken functionality was resolved, that I might want to keep a 10.4.x System hard drive available, so that when I needed the wxPerl functionality, I could boot my Mac under 10.4.x, perform my wxPerl work (e.g. use TivoTool), and then re-boot again later, under 10.6.x to use the TivoTool obtained files.
He also suggested that I make sure that the Software Update System Preference be enabled to automatically check for updates ("Scheduled Check" tab). He added that I shouldn't rule out that the wxPerl broken code functionality might one day be resolved through a Software Update.
I was given a case number, for future reference and to allow me to check the status of my wxPerl broken functionality trouble report.
As my dad used to say, "That's all she wrote."
So, because this is a "low runner" (e.g. not many people have noticed and reported the broken wxPerl code), I'd be surprised (but very delighted) to see a wxPerl fix delivered by Apple in the near future. After all, wxPerl has been broken since leaving Mac OS 10.4.x (wxPerl broken in 10.5.x and 10.6.x software releases).
I last spoke to Nate regarding this issue on Mach 9, 2010.
I have not included Nate's telephone number out of a courtesy to Nate, as he is not a technical person, only a contact that handles issues which have been escalated to Apple executives.
The Apple Case Number assigned was: 153683921
Regards to all involved and all effected.
    Thanks -

  • Are mobile internet USB devices still not working on Snow Leopard?

Are mobile internet USB devices still not working on Snow Leopard? I actually had to go back to my previous operating system to get this to work. I would however prefer to use Snow Leopard...if Apple & HUAWEI have finally got their act together!

There appears to be a problem with drivers for USB wireless modems with 10.6. I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard and now can't connect to the internet with my wireless modem. I hope Apple sort this out soon. Or maybe it's Huawei that needs to put a 10.6 driver into its software.

According to Roaring Apps, there is a version of Protools compatible with Lion.  But you may need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to buy either Lion or ML on MAS.   It looks like you need to get up-to-date with your OS and the apps too.

  • HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install

HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install
Reinstalling etc does not work - does anyone else have the same problem or a clue as to how to fix this?

    Keith,
I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

  • M-Audio MIDISPORT UNO USB Not Working With Snow Leopard

My Snow Leopard installation worked fine except until I plugged in my MacBook to my Casio Privia with the M=Audio MIDISPORT UNO USB cable to run GarageBand. I'm getting a MIDI error which states it can't work with the latest operating system. It doesn't surprise me though for all the software and hardware driver updates that have to catch up to such a new OSX 10.6. I went to the M-Audio site to download the latest driver, but the drivers only were compatible with OSX10.5.8.
This is an alert at the site
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Support Coming Soon
Avid/M-Audio working closely with Apple to offer support for OS X 10.6
Avid/M-Audio is pleased to hear that Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. We’ve been working closely with Apple to bring Snow Leopard support to the M-Audio® product line, as well as the Pro Tools® product line and extended product families. We ask that all existing Mac users please wait to upgrade until we officially announce Snow Leopard support. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
This is a bit of a concern, because I need to get GarageBand running again with the MIDI hook ups. Is there a work around anyone knows about to get MIDI working with Snow Leopard.
    Thanks Steve

I ran into a similar problem. I discovered one thing which may help you out though. It works OK with my Yamaha P200 keyboard but it does not work with my Yamaha NP30 keyboard. I looked at the MIDI stream and the only difference seems to be that the NP30 sends a continuous stream of MIDI clock, whereas the P200 does not. My theory is that this clock stream is somehow confusing the driver. I can't seem to disable the MIDI clock on my NP30 but if your Privia has the ability to disable MIDI clock, then it may be worth a try as it will probably fix the problem until they come out with the proper drivers.

  • HP LaserJet P1005 not working with Snow Leopard

Has anyone managed to get this printer to work with Snow Leopard 10.6? I have installed the latest drivers* from the HP website which BTW do not say they support 10.6 , see http://is.gd/2DfcE
*Not sure exactly what the version number of the drivers is. The website says they are version 1.0.7, but when installed they show version 1.0.6
I either get nothing coming out of the printer or an error "PrintJobMgr quit unexpectedly - This report will be sent to Apple automatically".

    From this web page:
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can use if there is an issue:
Ensure the printer is connected, has power, has ink / toner, paper, and no alerts on its built-in display.
Network based printers should be on the same subnet; you shouldn't have to worry about this if your printer is on your home network.
Use Software Update for the latest available updates.
Delete the affected printer from Printer & Fax System Preferences, then re-add the printer.
If the issue persists, reset printing system as described below, then re-add the printer.
If the issue persists, contact the printer vendor and/or visit their website for printer software and support.

  • Transparent PNG not working in Snow Leopard w Final Cut 3.5&4

I recently changed from a G5 mac to a Mac Pro. I had FCE HD 3.5 which supposedly is not supported in Snow leopard..although it did work.
Anyways, when dragging a PNG or PICT image to the base video layer, then dragging a transparent background(white)character image to a layer on top of that...I remember when i was in Macos X Tiger with FCE 3.5, after selecting the top layer and setting composite mode to SCREEN.. it would perfectly make the white background transparent. Awesome..
Well that hasn't worked since i switched to Snow leoplard. I thought it was a problem because i had FCE 3.5 so i bought FCE 4 yesterday
So i decided to upgrade and still doesn't work.
Instead of getting a transparent BG.. the top video layer where i placed the PNG image of a character with a white bg still has the white bg..and the inside of the character is semi transparent..
    not what i want.
I even tried the new feature in FCE 4 where you go to Modify and Sepect ALPHA white. and that didn't work either.
What's going on.. ONly specific PNG formats have transparency in FCE???
By the way I'm exporting PNG out of a 3D program called DAZ Studio 3.That program doesn't have the ability to export as Animation CODEC( like in poser)or any other codec for that matter. it only exports movies as MOV or image series PNG or single PNG images.

    Hi -
Here is a correctly formated PNG file with transparency.
You can download it to test in your sequence by Control-Clicking and selecting "Download Linked File As . . ." from the drop down menu [HERE|http://www.spotsbeforeyoureyes.com/Test.png]
You simply need to place it on a video track above any other clip to see if the effect works or not.
Please post if this graphic works for you.

  • Address book and ical not working for snow leopard clients

We have upgraded our server to mountain lion from snow leopard.
At first glance all appears to have gone well, however, the ical and address book services don't appear to be working for snow leopard clients. These services DO appear to be working for lion clients.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I am at work right now and don't have access to my Mac. But I need to as if your Dad is on Windows Active Directory network? I also found these directions for Princeton's 2010 Exchange that might help. Did he set up the Address contacts & iCal Calenders were enabled when setting up the account in Mail?

  • BUG: Chord Grid Libraries not working in Snow Leopard 10.6.1

    Hi,
I have Logic Pro 9 installed both on my Leopard and on my Snow Leopard partitions (both are full installs).
Chord Grid Libraries (I mean, the default one with more than 4500 chords) doesn't work in Snow Leopard.
It works as expected in Leopard.
Already verified the bug with other users over here in Italy

added BUG to the subject header

    Here I did a workaround:
If you have a 10.5.8 on a Backup Harddisk , start from it, launch Logic9, export the Chord Grids, start again from 10.6.1 launch Logic and reimport this File

  • Deleting multiple items not working in Snow Leopard

I can select multiple events from a repeated event, and when I hit Delete to delete them, iCal correctly pops up a message asking if I'd like to delete only these events, or all future events. I hit "only these events" and it only deletes one item. My event is set up to repeat every week on Monday-Friday.

Finally got my Konica Minolta Magiccolor to work with Snow Leopard 10.6.1. What I had to do was go to the EU site and I found the Magicolor 2430DL driver that was newer than the one I was using in Leopard. The version you need to get is 1.8.1 and set it up as a HP Jetdirect - Socket and use an IP address that is on the same segment as your computer. Leave the queue name blank. Below is the link I used to find the driver. Select Magicolor 2430DL and it will load a lot of pages. The driver and instructions were on section 201 - 250. It was labeled as working with OS X 10.5 .

  • HP Deluxe Webcam not working with Snow Leopard

All links to lists of webcams recommended for Mac OS X seem to be from the pre-Snow Leopard era, including the Mac Compatible Webcams site often recommended on these forums: http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/
The Mac Compatible Webcams site above recommends the HP Deluxe Webcam (KQ246AA#ABA), a UVC compliant model.
However, I can say from long and painful experience that the HP Deluxe Webcam does not work on my Mac Mini (2009 edition) running Mac OS X 10.6.1. I've tried many things to get it working, based on info in these forums and elsewhere, but with no success. Some apps detect and can use its built-in microphone, but none have been able to use the camera itself, including Skype, iChat, Photo Booth, macam, meebo.com, and probably others I can't remember.
If anyone has been able to get the HP Deluxe Webcam to work under Mac OS X 10.6, particularly on a Mac Mini, I'd love to hear about it.
For that matter, there is very little online generally about getting any external usb webcam to work under Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
However, today in a Mac-oriented computer store, before my very eyes the salesperson plugged a Macally IceCam2 webcam fresh out of the box into a USB port on a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard, and the IceCam2 worked perfectly and instantly. It really did plug and play. So unless I get enlightenment from this or other online sources in the next day or 2, I'm going to exchange the HP Deluxe Webcam for a Macally IceCam2. If nothing else, seeing whether it works equally well on my Mac Mini will be a good diagnostic measure.

    K T wrote:
the IceCam2 worked perfectly and instantly
    Why wait....go for it.
Good question. Two reasons: the store where I bought the HP Deluxe Webcam charges a 15% restocking fee on opened returns.
But more significantly, the HP Deluxe Webcam has received very good reviews and user comments online, whereas the Macally IceCam2 has received very mixed reviews, with more bad than good. Several reviewers and users raise the same negatives about the IceCam2: poor light sensitivity, bad colour distortion, and bad audio quality on its built-in microphone. And both webcams cost about the same.
So I've posted this question to a few forums and will wait a couple days to see if anyone can help me get the HP Deluxe Webcam working on my Mac Mini under Snow Leopard. If not, it's IceCam2 for me!

  • HTTPS sites and services not working on Snow Leopard 10.6.6

Hi guys, any assistance would be appreciated as I really don't want to reinstall everything again.
*Problem description:* After reinstalling Snow Leopard after some issues, I am unable to get any https services working (such as the online back up system Carbonite), nor access any https websites. My Macbook Pro and Windows Laptop on the same network have absolutely no issues with it. +Please also note that this problem is not limited to Safari, any software or browser that uses HTTPS to connect will not work.+
*Attempted fixes:* Repaired Permission errors, deleted keychain and security preferences, and manually configured the network connection. I have also checked to make sure the date/time are correct and created a new user which has also not helped.
*Recent changes:* My iMac refused to start up after permission errors so I was forced to reinstall Snow Leopard. I did a fresh install after formatting the drive.
    *Operating system:* Snow Leopard 10.6.6
    *System specs:* 2009 24" iMac

If I was there with you,
    As a "Best Practice"
#1- I would recommend that we make a FULL Bootable Backup of where you are, and confirm that it is bootable.
    Then
As another Best Practice you should always have on the ready any and all INSTALLERS of your programs, along with the corresponding serial numbers,
I feel that being PROACTIVE is a much place to be, then REACTIVE.
#2 - I would be inclined to do a overlaying install of Snow Leopard, What happens is it will install a new OS while preserving ALL other info/data, including your Applications, Users.
Please keep me posted as to your results,

  • Server tools not working on Snow Leopard

I just upgraded my home Intel Mac Pro from 10.4 to 10.6, and downloaded the 10.6.4 Server tools from the website (WorkGroup manager, Server Admin, Server monitor, etc.). Our Xserve is 10.6.4 also, so there shouldn't be any incompatibility (like there was when I wanted to manage the 10.6 server from my 10.4 machine). But when I double-click on any of these apps, nothing happens - something flashes through the dock once and then nothing (like when you try to run a 10.6 app in 10.4). No error, but no running apps either. What am I missing - why don't these run here? Is there a better URL to download them?
    thanks,
    Mike

Hey, I fixed it! I remembered (by trying in Firefox, where it works, by the way) that the Youtube Bulk video uploader uses Google Gears. I noticed that Safari had Gears 0.5.30.0 while the latest version I just installed for Firefox was Gears 0.5.32.0. I googled and found an old bug report somewhere saying that in a Snow Leopard beta, Gears worked in Firefox but not Safari, so I knew I was on the right track.
I tried to upgrade Gears in Safari by going to http://gears.google.com, but it did not display anything about which version I had or how to upgrade (as it does in Firefox) although if I looked at the page source I could see the text 'Your Gears installation is too old and needs to be upgraded'. So in the end I just deinstalled Gears (follow the instructions under 'If you need to remove a plug-in' in Safari help) and now I have the button back to upload a video, instead of just 'Loading...' I haven't tried it yet but it looks promising.
