IChat, Photo Booth, FaceTime camera not working

Upgraded to Lion, waited for the update.01.  Camera is not working in any program.  Tryed the SMU reset with no effect.

Hi,
You list two machines in your specs that are not Intel Macs and do not list a computer that can run Lion.
Does the camera appear in System Profiler (Hardware > USB) ?
Is Blue Tooth On ?
Any other potential USB internally connected item that may be drawing too much power ?
Any External USB device that is Unpowered ?
Try the equivilant of the Firewire Port reset.
Unplug all external devices.
Power down for 15 minutes using Shut Down  (Unplug Power as well if Laptop)
Start up with no external devices.
Try Camera (App).
Start adding back external devices.

  • FaceTime Camera Not Working After Yosemite Upgrade

So After I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday, my FaceTime Camera stopped working.
Every time I turned on FaceTime or Photo Booth, the green light on the camera started to blink like crazy but nothing would show up on the screen. It was just black. And I tried different user too, not working.
I tried to reinstall Yosemite, no luck.
Tried to rest SMC and PRAM, no luck.
Tried safe boot, no camera in safe mode.
Tried repair disk permission, no luck.
Here is how it showed in system report, I thought it would be more details?
I am using MBP with Retina late 2013 model. I am 90% positive that the camera was working before this upgrade.
I don't know whether anyone else encounter the same problem and I am afraid it's something I installed that's causing the problem. In that case, even a clean install works fine, after I restore everything from Time Machine, the problem might just come back.
    Thanks!

You have done the right things.  With all you have tried, some third party item you have added is a very good guess as to what could be causing your trouble.  The biggest difficulty will be determining which installation caused the trouble.
I am certainly not experiencing your problem on any of my 10.10 Macs.

Right again!  The way to prevent reinstalling the problem (and to prove your guess was correct) is to reinstall OS X using the OS X Yosemite: Erase and reinstall OS X instructions.
Next, before adding anything else, test your camera using the applicable suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight article.  (Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
      • If the camera works now, your suspicion is correct.  You can then add ONE needed app FROM ITS ORIGINAL SOURCE (not from any of your backups) and test the camera again.  If the camera fails, you have found the problem app.  If the camera works, continue adding apps one at a time, testing thoroughly between each addition.  After all your apps are added back, if your camera continues to work correctly, you can copy your data files back from your latest backup.
      • If the camera doesn't work immediately when nothing has been added to your fresh Mac OS X installation, you most likely have a hardware problem.  There are no user serviceable parts of the camera.  Contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Photo Booth's Camera ONLY Works When All Apps Quit?

    Hello all.
I was trying to take a picture with Photo Booth but the camera "was dead", i.e. not active/turn on
    - Safari, Mail, MSN Messenger, EyeTV and FeedTicker were on
I have to quit all other apps, relaunch Photo Booth to get it working.
Is any one of them interfering with the camera function? (perhaps MSN Messenger?)
    Thanks and cheers

Here's a long shot: Sometimes camera weirdness can be fixed by resetting the PRAM.

  • Maverick 10.9.2 upgrade facetime camera not working any more

    Hei
After upgrading to maverick 10.9.2 on my iMac 2009, the camera was not found in Facetime and all other products using the camera, like skype.
I phoned apple support, but the guy told me that the camera was defect or I had to re-installed maverick again or/and re-format the harddisk if this didn't helped.
    Nothing of the above helped.
After spending several days of finding ways to fix the problem, I took my old MacBookPro, where I had Maverick 10.9.1 installed.
I tried FaceTime, And IT WORKED, so I am 100% sure it worked before the upgrade.
I went to App Store and installed maverick 10.9.2.
After installation, I logged in, and started FaceTime.
AND NOW THE Camera could not be seen by FaceTime.
And NO SUPPORT, The camera was NOT defect before the upgrade, it WAS the upgrade to 10.9.2 which crashed it. And now I have 2 dead cameras on 2 computers.
    My MacBookPro is 17" 2.4GHZ
Processor  2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Hukommelse  4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Grafik  NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB
    Serienummer  W874329TX94
    Software  OS X 10.9.2 (13C64)
    Note:
The camera could not be found under System-Hardware-camera
    My question is:
When is apple comming with a fix? It is urgent, because I use skype a lot for my business

This is the response from AirDisplay ==>>>
    Hello,
My apologies for this issue. It's a bug we are aware of. It stems from an issue with OS X. Certain Macs that have a third party video driver installed will exhibit this issue. So, it's not just Air Display that causes this problem but other apps like Display Link, AirParrot, etc. will also have this issue. Apple has contacted us regarding the problem and they're looking into it. It's not actually something we or those other third party developers can fix. Apple has to address the issue with OS X. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

  • Unable to share pictures with Photo Booth Facebook option not working.

So when I try to share pictures by clicking on the Facebook option on Photo Booth, nothing happens. I tried every other option and they all work except for the Facebook one.
I tried to quit every other application and just leave Photo Booth opened, same result.
I deleted the plist file for Facebook...

It appears LR is not getting access to the Drive/Folder where the original file is located. (/volumes/Media Disk/Pictures....)? were the original files copied to a hard drive?

  • Facetime Camera not working - Installed 10.8.5 Supplemental Update

So I cheerfully installed the supplemental update for Mountain Lion 10.8.5 tonight and it did not fix my camera issue with Skype. In fact, my Facetime camera, which was working fine with Facetime & Photobooth, stopped working with any software after this update. Before this update came, I did change the plug in back to the pre-10.8.5 update camera plug in, which made it work fine again. I thought installing this update would fix it but it didn't. I ended up changing the plug back to the pre-10.8.5 plug in again and now everything works fine. Any suggestions as to why this is the case?
    And I'm using a mid-2013 Macbook Air. 4g Ram/256bg Hard Drive

Unfortunately this is not working for my MacBookAir6,2.
10.8.5 broke the camera for everything but FaceTime.
I installed 10.8.5 supplemental; that broke the camera completely.
Installed 10.8.5 combo, and FaceTime works again, but Skype and Gmail are still broken.
I tried copying the AppleCamera.plugin as noted on the Skype site, but that doesn't fix Skype or Gmail.
    Ideas?

  • FaceTime camera not working with Skype

Recently I've had trouble with my Facetime/iSight camera not playing nice wth Skype.
The camera works fine with Photobooth and Facetime, but if I try a video call in Skype, I just get the spinning graphic. Doesn't matter how strong the connection is. Until recently, I could get Skype to recognise the camera in the video preferences tab, but now nothing, just blank.
I've tried installing a plugin from Skype that's meant to fix the problem, but still no luck.
    Any ideas appreciated

For Skype specific problems like this, search or post in Skype's dedicated forum.
Also, your OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) is out of date. Restart Mac, repair disk permissions, and apply the OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.5 (Combo).  Repair permissions again immediately following the restart that completes the Combo install.

    HI,
    Try deleting this file.
    com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences.
Move that fileo to the Trash and restart your Mac.

  • Facetime camera not working

When using facetime on my ipad3 I can see my friend's picture but he can no longer see mine (it used to work). Is there a setting to turn the camera on and off just for facetime? BTW - it works for Skype just fine.

Try uninstalling then reinstalling Skype on you mac and see if that does the trick if it does not then look for drivers or a software update
