IChat & Photo Booth

I just watched a tutorial on using the video for iChat.
It shows using video backgrounds, like Clouds, Color Dots, Earthrise, Eiffel Tower, Fish,
Rollercoaster, Sunset & Yosemite. I don't see any of these to choose from either in iChat
or Photo Booth. Where are these files?
Any Help
Thanks

  • Ichat/Photo Booth... Please Help!

I am having trouble with the backdrops that are now available for Photo Booth and ichat. When i add one of the new backdrops, they are all broken up. Part of my face gets covered by the animation, and bits and pieces of the wall behind me shows.
I step out of the frame like it says. The background behind me is simple and stationary. I can't figure out why this is happening!
    Can anyone help? Please?

Try to create a good "set" and the result will be a lot better.
If you have "backlight" your image will be hard to capture after you step in. Blocking this light source results in a dark image and large pixel blocks. The background should be lit indirect. Before you apply the effect have a look at the video feed on your display, make sure there's no light source in the background. The spot where you are going to step in after you've captured the background must be well lit from a source outside the frame like behind or next to the camera. No moving objects or images in the background and no camera movement during the take. The light level should constant and fixed so the focus is on you're movement.
Close all applications that you do not need to run during the take and try to reduce network traffic on your network when using life video chat.
    You'll be surprised.

  • IChat/Photo Booth "Green Screen" Effects not entirely working.

They kind of work, but it looks like I have lots of holes in me, and the background has some holes in it too.
    Anyone else having this problem?

My Photo Booth effects all suck big time. In well lit areas wearing colors with a different color background, no matter what effect I use, all look horrible. I've tried all white background with dark clothing and vice versa with 100% crappy results. No other apps running. I have a MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo with 3 GB RAM. Everything else runs fantastic. Photo Booth *****. I've tried it with several friends over iChat Video and it's not viewable at all. Been thru a dozen different lighting scenarios and as many clothing changes, nothing seems to help.
Anyone have any other suggestions ?

  • IChat, Photo Booth, FaceTime camera not working

Upgraded to Lion, waited for the update.01.  Camera is not working in any program.  Tryed the SMU reset with no effect.

    Hi,
You list two machines in your specs that are not Intel Macs and do not list a computer that can run Lion.
Does the camera appear in System Profiler (Hardware > USB) ?
    Is Blue Tooth On ?
Any other potential USB internally connected item that may be drawing too much power ?
Any External USB device that is Unpowered ?
Try the equivilant of the Firewire Port reset.
    Unplug all external devices.
Power down for 15 minutes using Shut Down  (Unplug Power as well if Laptop)
Start up with no external devices.
    Try Camera (App).
    Start adding back external devices.

  • Photo Booth, iChat animation green, red, black pixels

Since my upgrade of Leopard, I have a anoying adverse side effect. I notice that when I use the cool new backdrops that have animation in iChat or Photo Booth, that the windows will flicker with (usually green) pixels in a diagnal pattern. I suspect this is a core animation issue but would loved to be proved wrong (only if there is an resolution to my issue . I am able to duplicate the issue 100% of the time. I have also seen this happen to my task bar as well except it will turn black.

    Welcome to Discussions, Stanley Chung
Sorry you are still having problems even after trying the good suggestions from Ralph and Boomer.
I did not see specifically from your posts that your iSight worked before upgrading to Snow Leopard, but I am inferring from your topic's title that it did. If your iMac came with Snow Leopard installed, please post and tell us whether you erased the disk and reinstalled all your iMac's software before you started using it. If you upgraded your iMac to Snow Leopard, consider the following.
    (1) Until you get iSight working, do all your testing while no peripherals other than keyboard/mouse are attached to your iMac. To eliminate all possibility of any conflict external to your Mac, be sure you also disconnect any wireless devices (iPod, printer, etc) connected to your system.
    (2) If you still have problems with all you have tried, it seems to me that you must have a software issue. You might try uninstalling Skype and VMWare and testing again to see if those installations are causing a conflict.
    (3) Check the support sites for all of your third party software to be sure there are no known Snow Leopard issues and that you are using the latest compatible versions.
    (4) If the problem still exists and you have not already tried this, reinstall Snow Leopard, repairing permissions immediately before and after the reinstall.
    (5) If your problem remains and System Profiler still shows your inbuilt iSight as a USB device, I suggest you backup all important files, erase your disk, reinstall all Apple software, and test to see if iSight works properly. Once it does, you can install any necessary peripherals and third-party apps one-at-a-time, testing after each addition to see if one of them is causing problems.

  • New ichat effects not working in photo booth?

I recently just downloaded the iChat Effects 2.0.4 for my new MBP and it works fine in ichat. But, when i try and take a picture using one of the effects in photo booth it comes out pink and white. does anyone know how to fix it??

    Hi,
Do you mean these http://ismileys.free.fr/moreichateffects/ ?
They have not really worked in Snow Leopard and should be deleted
There are also these http://ichatfx.com/iChatFX/Home.html which seem more stable.

  • Isight works with photo booth but not in ichat or google talk or skype?

isight works with photo booth but not in ichat or google talk or skype?

    Hi
Is this an Internal or External iSight ?
In iChat, in the Video Menu (This is to the right of Buddies and may read Audio) is Camera Enabled Ticked ?
If it reads Audio open the Connection Doctor from that same menu.
In the connection Doctor open the Capabilities tab
Does it say your Internet Connection is too slow ?
At this point I would need to know which iChat Version.
However also look in the View Menu.
Is Show VIdeo Status ticked ?  (this shows green Icons next to your Buddy Pic and those of your Buddies
Next go to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section
Do you see a preview here ?
    Re: GoogleTalk
Have you enabled TALK on your Google Account Settings ?
You need to have a Google Mail ID (Not any other sort of Google ID)
Have you downloaded the Intel only Web Browser Plug-in to do Video in a  Web Browser.

  • Backdrops with Sony DV Camcorder in iChat and Photo Booth

Hello I have found the Backdrops will not work with my DV camcorder, I have seen on apple's iChat page that "Backdrop effects when using a DV camcorder require fixed focus, exposure, and white balance". How do I do that with my camcorder (or can it even be done on most?)

    Hi,
Do you have an internal iSight as well ? (i.e. not a Mac Mini or Mac Pro)
Do the Backdrops work for that camera in iChat and Photo Booth ?
I have a MacBook Pro and it has an Interanl iSight
I have plugged in an X-Box 360 camera and the current USB 2.0 USB Video Class (UVC) camera I use with my G4 and they work.
Prior to buying the G4 a USB 2.0 Card and a new camera I was using A Dazzle Hollywood DV Convertor with a older Canon UC600 analogue Camcorder (Converting PAL TV signals to DV then via Firewire to the Computer) and this worked to the MacBook Pro as well
With that in mid I am not sure it all about the Auto Focus and White Balance other than those can help get the best pictures.
I would be interested in how the "Video" is getting form camera to computuer ?
What sort of Signal that is ?
    Whether Backdrops work anyway ?

  • ISight/Photo Booth/iChat Background?

Whenever I am in Photo Booth or iChat and I want to take a picture or chat using one of the backgrounds (Paris, etc.) I step out of the frame when prompted to do so, but then when I step back in, my face is covered up in random places by the background itself. This usually happens if there is something on the wall behind me, but now it's starting to happen even if I am standing in front of a totally blank wall.
Why is this, and is there something I can do to make it stop?

    Interesting. (An Observation really)
That Article says it has been modified and it also quotes a Apple Doc Reference number but the Modified Date is the same day as iChat 4 came out.
( I have also not seen it before although I have posted the same or similar information in the iChat forums)

  • ISight crashes both Photo booth and iChat

    Hello,
My iSight camera seems to be causing issues with Photo Booth and iChat. Both these problems emerged at the same time, so I believe that they're related.
iChat will login properly, but when I try to initiate video chat, the green iSight camera turns on... but promptly crashes iChat.
Photo booth ostensibly works fine in terms of taking regular photos and video recording, but none of the effects work; they appear as black screens. When you try and click on the effects, Photo booth crashes.
My computer otherwise recognizes the camera in System Profiler. I can also use the camera in GChat, via Gmail.
    Any ideas on what's wrong?

    Welcome to Discussions, bigtsez
The PMU reset suggested in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 usually helps such problems for MacBooks.
If not, repair permissions and apply the 10.5.7 COMBO update:
      http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_7_ComboUpdate
Repair permissions IMMEDIATELY again after the restart that finishes the installation.
Then test iSight again. Repeat the Troubleshooting suggestions if necessary.

  • IChat and Photo Booth mirror the video?

Video chatting with my parents I noticed, that their faces are mirrored, either in their video preview and on my computer. They have got an iMac 2Ghz Intel Core 2 duo and 10.5.6. Their built in camera does not take videos or photos in Photo Booth or iChat as regular cameras do, but they mirror the picture. I am now sitting at their computer, trying to solve the problem, but I could not find any settings to change this. In Photo Booth I can choose "Neue Fotos automatisch spiegeln", in english probably "automatically mirror new photos" (or something similar), but this does not help for iChat.
Has any of you have an idea?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Photobooth and iChat show the Pics as you would see them in a Mirror.
    It is not a problem.
It is the way that are designed.
The Buddy at the other end in iChat see things correctly.
The effect is something like standing in front of a Drinking establishment with a mirror behind the Bar that you can see whilst your Buddy is facing you.
Hence you make a move to indicate to your right an the mirror image follows your action on the same side. Your Buddy see things as the friend at the bar would.
It is not a "Problem" so there is no "Fix"
However the add-on iGlasess can Flip the pic if you want amongst other things it can do.

  • Photo Booth and iChat etc. aren't reading the built in iSight

I've got the new Macbook, but for some reason whenever I go to iChat or Photo Booth or anything else that requires the built in iSight it gives me the message: There is no connected camera.  So the LED light won't go on and I can't figure out how to turn the camera on.  I recently got Flutter and it turns the camera on, but for some reason even when the camera is on for Flutter iChat and Photo Booth still don't read the camera as on.  I'm very confused and I'm hoping you might be able to tell me how to get it working.

    Try this
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93240
    and try a reboot.
    Best of luck.

  • Microsoft NX-6000 works with Photo Booth, not with iChat

I'm trying to use a Microsoft NX-6000 webcam with my wife's MacBook running 10.5.5. The camera appears properly in System Profiler, and it works properly with Photo Booth. However, iChat tells me that the camera is in use by another application, even after rebooting and ensuring that iChat is the only app running. Is there a way to fix this? (and yes, I know the MacBook has a built-in iSight but she's using it in clamshell mode, so that won't help!)
