IChat Tiger 3.1.4 (v432) resets my DSL modem/router

iChat has always worked untill one month ago on old speedtouch home. Frequent disconnects in the middle of a video conference. Now I have ne new modem/router form my provider, Speedtouch 546, and have internet connection. iChat can start up and connect to the net, see my buddies but can never initiate or accept a video conference. I click "accept" but it reports as if I have declined the invitation. Then ALL lights on my modem turn off, and it will reboot itself.
I have looked at Ralph's pages and opened my mac OS X firewall and have opened the port on my speedtouch in the NAPT section.
But...no way of testing if it works.

Alcatel Speedtouch 500 series have SIP, a protocol iChat and VoIP devices and apps use, bound to port 5060.
In earlier devices that have version 4.x.x firmware this can be unbound. See here in the white text box a bit further down the page http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page4.html#_text
Now later devices (normally ending in 6) or those others that have version 5 or 6 firmware can not unbind SIP from port 5060.
The one solution that has been foound has been to put the device in Bridge mode.

How can I get Verizon to reset my dsl speed to 3mbps after I replaced a failed filter?

Last time it took me 2 hours of begging on the phone to finally get a tier 3 tech to reset my dsl connection to 3mbps after a bad filter caused repeated drop outs. I'm in the same spot again, my dlink router shows my connection speed down to 2.1 after a lightning storm blew a line filter, when before my speed was 3.4. There's got to be an easier way to get reset, it only took the tech about 30 seconds to do it!
All I'm looking for is an easier way to get my connection reset!!

For the last 7 weeks I have also been fighting the ASSIA Expresse Solution's 'Optimizer' product that Verizon and many others, atarted using to automate their DSL line speeds. I actually contacted the parent company, ASSIA, and complained to them directly about the lost of speed, and user's lack of control.
I just had my line reset by a 3rd tier Verizon person from Marylan - they were very helpful and did not give me a hard time, but as the previous messager asked, "Why the need to go through this?" I suggested to the ASSIA sals rep who returned my e-mail, that they give the customer some client side tool to allow a choice up to their max provision/profile speed, to choose speed over stability. There are times when I work from hom, that I need to mover a large amount of data, but if it fails becuase the line is a bit unstable, I am weilling to start the copy over again. Let ME decide how sable and fast I want things up to the BW I am paying for.
So for the past 2 weeks I've been routinely above 2.5 Mbps and then 2 days ago - max is 1.5Mbps. After 15 minuts with first tech, the next 3rd tier guy got me back up to 2.81Mbps - just likle that!

There are a number of threads from other people reporting the same iTunes connection issue, it looks like there might be a problem at Apple's end - but you could try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works, but it probably won't until Apple's fixed it

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Automatic reset of ActionTec MI424WR router

Has anyone experienced an auto-reset of the MI424WR router? Two days ago, my router stopped connecting with the wireless devices on my home network, and I ultimately determined that the router had reset --- on its own --- to the default settings. I had to input my security and other settings again to enable my wireless printer and laptops to access the network and the Internet. What could make this happen? We did not touch the reset button on the back of the router or use the web interface with the browser to reset it to the default configuration.

or it is not unheard of for a power outage or power surge to cause a reset. I save a copy of my configuration file (regularly) to my computer (I just overwrite the last one) so that if that happens I can easily restore it in just a few clicks of the mouse.

Cannot RESET my WRT 150N router

Tried hard reser (30 seconds), power light does not flash. Tried internet access, http://192.168.1.1, get an error.
Powered off for a long time. Nothing.
When ON, I have power light solidly lit and INTERNET light flashing, but none of the 3 connected ETHERNET port lights is on.
Odd thing is, when I enabled my iPHONE HOTSPOT, the router recognized it and I'm on the internet wirelessly through that fluke connection. I'm afraid to turn it off.

It seems that wired connection is not working.
How many wired computers/devices do you have connected to the router?
What IP address do you get on the wired computer?
Disconnect all the cables from the router.
Connect the power cable to the router.
Connect the modem to the Internet port on the router.
Connect one computer to the Ethernet port on the router.
Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and try to reconfigure it. On your router you will see 4 lights lit up ( Power, wireless, Internet and Ethernet 1)
If you get a valid IP address like 192.168.1.xxx on the wired computer then try to access the router setup page by 192.168.1.1.

Edge has very clear restrictions, one being that you must have 6 months of clean payment history which you don't. Either wait until April 14, or good luck at Sprint.
I am unsure how it can be determined the payment mix up was the fault of CS, but regardless, the mix up was done. There can be any number of reasons why a payment could be missed without any fault on your part, however you are still the responsible party for the account and must live with the repercussions.

DSL Modem keeps resetting.

My DSL Modem resets when:
1. Devices connect to the wifi (And no devices be on the wifi)2. When I browse the internet (With only one device on the internet)3. When multiple devices are on the wifi it just goes out constanly.4. When playing on my console it disconnects when only the console is connected. This problem has been going on for like two or three years and everytime that I contact at&t they just bring a guy who gives me a new modem and the modem does the exact same thing. If problem continues I may have to switch to a different ISP

If you went through multiple modem and it's still occuring, it might just be some dirty power you have. Many things can cause a problem with that and it's pretty hard to isolate the problem.
However, as a test, have you tried purchasing a gateway other than those and tried how it worked?

Tiger 10.4.7 Password reset issues related to Safari keychain updating

Following a reset password for administrative updating my software,
The following keychain password update has not correctly been updated
to reflect complete password resets.
I have followed the MACOSX reset procedures and the MACOSX 10.4.6 updates processes and procedures to update all concerned administrative password resets and still the keychain safari messages indicate that safari keychain has not correctly updated to the new password. Annoyance message appears not to affect performance issues of safari just sending emails outbound or chances
that provoke keychain password triggers. Can not initiate safari password compliance. It does not recongize new admin. password.
What next? Any ideas from developer channels? Similiar experiences??

Do they have your Screen name in their Buddy List ?

Connecting iMac with Mac OS X Tiger to an HPC with Windows CE via modem

Hi,
I have an iMac G3 DV 400MHZ with Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.6 and a Compaq C140 HPC with Windows CE 1.0. I dont have the original serial cable for the device and therefore cant connect it to my iMac (like its Mac compatible anyway!) I want to connect it to my iMac via modems (no not ethernet modems the antique modems with the phone wires!) so I can transfer files to it. In case you have never heard of an HPC or Windows CE (which is real similar to Windows 95) lets pretend Im trying to connect a Windows 95 PC to my iMac for file transfer and see if that works.

Resetting 4g wireless modem

my Mac was connecting to the hotspot but was not accessing the internet so I tried a factory reset. Unfortunately I am stuck on step 2. After the tick box option of deactivating my registered modem and activating current modem (both the same really) then it sits on the screen saying loading. This never ends though. So how do I get my modem rest so I can use it again?

Hi, are you using a 4G Advance/4G Advance II or just the normal 4G WIreless Hotspot? Regardless of that, no need to reactivate the device. You just need to skip/dismiss the activation and create a new APN(Access Point Network) profile that contains your BigPond username(Primary BigPond EMail Add) and the Password of that email. If you still need some help, you can ring the Wireless BigPond Technical Support @ 133933 and say "wireless".

Unable to reset E1200 N wireless router

I am trying to setup two wireless routers in my network. I purchased a E1200 N router and an older G Linksys router upstairs.
When I got the N router I set it up a stand alone router and it worked great for a week or so. I then wanted to try to get both routers going to I changed the IP address on E1200 to 192.168.2.1....the router rebooted and then could not login. I am not able to get any internet conntion anymore.
When I type 192.168.2.1 it goes to page can not be displayed, 192.168.1.1 same thing. Ipconfig shows some address auto address that I did not put in and i am also not connected to a modem. I cant log into the router at all.
So reset: I held down the button for 30 seconds...let go and it blinks and then goes solid but does not reset. Unplugged router for 5 minutes tried again. Cant get into 192.168.1.1..will not prompt for anything. I have tried to reset this router about 10 times and can not get into the default login at all. Any ideas? thanks

HT3728 every time my iMac sleeps or restarts it loses the connection to airport express and i must reset and connect with router via ethernet cable.

Every time my imac sleeps or restarts it loses the wireless connection with my airport express (used for streaming music). I then have to disconnect the airport express from my stereo, bring it to my router, connect it to my router with ethernet cable and reset the wireless connection. Even with my airport express in the same room as my router Airport Utility cannot find it until i plug in an ethernet cable, so i do not think this is an issue with my wireless network. Router is a newer netgear.

IMac often can't connect to internect-requires resetting WIFI & Cable modem

New to WIFI and cable modems.
My iMac, and at the same time, my laptop and desktop PC, fail to connect to the internet 30%-50% of the time we try to use them. All say the are connected to the WIFI with strong signals. Using diagnostic on iMac tells me to reset both the WIFI and cable modems and try again. This usually cures the problem but sometimes it requires repeated resets. The problem mostly occurs at what I would call peak customer usage time, mornings and evenings, although it can happen anytime, it appears. I suspect I'm on a cable interenet service with a narrow bandwith, and that either causes my cable modem to loose communication or not to communicate at all. Or am I wrong about how all this works? I think I know that if the volume of folks on the cable go up, the speed can go way down--down enough to limit those who can connect, or those connected to get kicked off? Am I unreasonable to think that I should be able to connect whenever I want to, with the occasional (one a week) inability to connect?
Cable folks have been out here to run a new line to the house, and to get a good cable TV signal (with 5 TVs), we have to have a amp at the box outside the house (broadband cable is not on the amp). TV signal without the amp is terrible, if that's some indication of the quality of the trunk line in the neighbor for cable TV. If someone could link me to a discussion of these issues that would be wonderful. I'm trying to figure out what my problems are and where my efforts and possible complaints should be directed. Are purchased cable modems better than those provided by the cable company, and should I buy one? I'd just like to connect 8 out of 10 times I want to use the internet. Cable is way faster but dial-up was far more dependable in my current situation.
