IChat to AIM (PC) video problem - White Screen

I'm new to iChat so I apologize in advance for my lack of experience...
I've been trying to use iChat to Video Chat with a buddy on AIM (PC). We can't seem to get it to work and I was wondering if there were any changes I/we needed to make to our programs/systems/networks for this to work.
I should also add that my AIM buddy doesn't have a camera... but she should still be able to see and hear me, right?

For you to use iChat to video chat to him he needs XP and AIM 5.9 or Trillian Pro.
The AIM applictaion needs a bit more setting up in that it needs "tuning (see message 570 onwards)" to the Mic and camera. Access in now in the Buddy list My AIM menu item.
Both need allowing through the XP Firewall. If at Service Pack 2 it is like this If not then disable the XP firewall. (use something else though).
This does not include instructions for his modem.

AIM Free edition showing white screen?

Hi, I have a 3GS with OS 3.1.2. I had AIM (Free Edition) installed, and it has been working fine for a week, until yesterday. Now, whenever I open the app, it only shows a white screen with the lines (8 of them).
I've tried removing the app from my iPhone, and then installing it using my iTunes but that didnt help. Installing the app using the iPhone doesnt work either.

I reckon it's a problem at the AIM end. I've been using AIM on iPhone (O2) every day for weeks and it;s been fine until yesterday.

No video just white screen w/ Sound

Hi,
I'm having a problem playing 1 .mov file within quicktime or any other video player for that matter. It's 4G in size and is HD 1080i60. I get sound but no video (just a white screen). I upgraded to Quicktime pro 7 but it didn't help. Does anyone know of a fix for this.

I'm still running FCP 4. I guess it's time for me to upgrade.Good. HERE is a link to the HD v4.5 download. Believe you will require your FCP v4 serial for the form. I downloaded the update when it first came out via the auto client software 3-4 years ago but never used it as I didn't have a "true" HD file source and began using FCE at about the same time. In any case, as Kirk indicated, you will likely be disappointed with some of the upgrade features -- especially those that are CPU dependent. On the other hand, having the additional components installed may allow you to perform HD to SD conversions in QT Pro if that is all you need here -- just takes a bit longer.

Once firefox 4.o was installed, full screen video produced white screen. Had to exit and and restart video. Using a mac os 10.5. Disabling hardware acceleration did not fix. went back to firefox 3.6 and all is ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Switching back to small screen has a still video but audio still going. Had to exit and and restart video or open a blank new new tab then delete it and then small screen video would play. Your hardware was never designed to run that old a version of OS X, it's best to update the application or find another application that is more up to date. Installing Leopard simply will not work on your system.

Cant see any video only white screens in Viewer and Canvas

I dont know if anyone has encountered this figured out how to resolve it yet. In FCP 7 on Snow Leopard when i drag a clip into viewer or try to edit in the Canvas all i see is a white screen. The title safe lines and wireframe show up when i turn these on and off, but no video. I occasionally get a solarized image in the Canvas. the time code progresses, but nothing in either window.

Thanks for all the suggestions, including links back to earlier discussions. This did shed some light, (and kicked me to be more explicit), when reviewing an earlier question on the same issue, but stating that this happened on an external Dell 2408 monitor...which is what I am using to edit. When i open the MBP and remove the video miniport cable and try to play on the laptop display, all is well, I can see video in both Viewer and Canvas. When i plug the monitor back in and drag these windows over to the monitor (cant move the FCP application wholesale) they also play fine. When i close the MBP, wait and refire it up with mouse or keyboard...I see video in both, but when i play either one the image jumps back and forth, cycling from one frame and back...while the time code advances and the audio track does too.

Video iPod- white screen, 3 beeps, turns itself back on, G5 can't recognize

With my 60 GB video iPod all I now get is a white screen. All I can do is turn it off by pressing Center/Menu and get three beeps, but it turns itself on again with those same three beeps, to the blank white screen again. My G5 does not recognize the iPod when plugged in. The iPod and the G5 are both still under warranty. Anyone have any suggestions?

Weird startup problems - white screen - USB/Firewire?

Not even sure where to start on this one...
I've got an Intel Dual 2.0ghz 20" Imac. 3 gb of RAM. I have AppleCare, but not sure this isn't peripheral related, so don't want to start down that path just yet.
I've got two Western Digital MyBook drives: a 250gb connected through the firewire 400 port, and a 500gb drive connected to the 800 port. An Eyetv 200 DVR is connected between the 250gb drive and the computer. Multiple USB devices (Treo 680, CanoScan LiDE500f, Epson Stylus Photo R220, Ipod) through an externally powered Belkin 7 port hub. Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
About once out of every 10 boots, the machine only comes to a white screen. I have discovered that I have to disconnect all cables from the back of the machine to continue the booting process. Sometimes the boot continues when the firewire plugs are removed, sometimes with the USB. I also have the issue, documented elsewhere, with the WD drives intermittently unmounting.
I've had other, possibly related, issues with Missing Sync hanging (whether syncing with the Treo or not). Curiously, when this problem manifests, Console also hangs in the same manner. Not sure what clears the problem, but after a few reboots, logouts, and resetting the power manager, it generally goes away.
My hunch is that the USB/Firewire buses are underpowered or overstressed. The problems have so far resisted my trying to narrow them down further.
Another oddity: After problems booting, the display brightness is often reset to its lowest (dimmest) setting.
The most frustrating part of all this is that I use my EyeTV device to record TV programs when I'm away. Obviously, if the machine doesn't boot consistently, I can't depend on this.
Anyone have any better hunches?

Perhaps I'm on the path to finding the cause of this problem. I took your advice, and using a Firewire 400 cable, connected the 500gb drive in line with the other Firewire devices. After rebooting, I immediately had the same interrupted startup process.
I noticed when connecting the 500gb drive, that it also has a USB port. I have now taken this drive out of the Firewire chain and connected it via USB. I haven't tested very long, but so far so good. I'm beginning to think that the Firewire bus on my 500gb WD drive is bad. I already knew that the 800 port didn't work. Lets hope the USB works. This is solely a backup drive, so USB is fine (unless I need to boot off a backup, in which case I know that the FW 400 will work in a pinch). I'll keep you updated.

30GB Video, blank white screen, help me please!

my 30 GB ipod video is frozen on a blank white screen. i restart it by holding menu and select and it makes a weird beeping noise and boots back up to the same white screen. how do i fix this?

Good Audio, no video expect white screen in quicktime exports

In a few recent projects, when I export my projects to quicktime, they appear fine on my computer, but when I watch the files on other people's computers, the quicktime file has no video (expect a white screen) but the audio is intact. Any solutions?

that means they don't have the video codec you used. This is usually because you've used a codec that comes with fcp. What format is your sequence and how did you export?

Why would I get a white screen after answering a quiz click-through?

You'll have to do two things.. Elaborate on exactly what you mean by a white screen appears. What is turning white? Are you generating a SWF from captivate of a screen capture session, then trying to load that SWF with a wrapper and when you do so it turns white? (In that scenario, if Captivate was looking for external assets it can't find, that'd be why). Please include more details on that.
Second, code of this size pasted into the forum really doesn't help. You'll need to do the work to isolate exactly what part of the code you're seeing this white box appear. Run it in a debugger line by line until you witnesss it turn white and only share that small portion of code. And if you do choose to share a ton of code, please use a site like pastebin.com which will retain formatting and color coding, making it much easier to read, and then share that pastebin link.

Start-up Problem - White Screen Open Firmware

I typed in 'mac-boot' and return and everything starts and 'appears' to work as normal.
I have shut down and restarted twice and the same thing happens. I also noticed that the push button switch seems to be sticking.
My question is - Is this a hardware issue (the start button is faulty) or is it a software (firmware, corrupt file)?

It's possible it's a hardware problem, but first I'd suggest you try resetting Open Firmware:
At the 0 > prompt, type:
reset-nvram
and press Return
At the 0 > prompt, type:
set-defaults
and press Return
At the 0 > prompt, type:
reset-all
and press Return.
With luck, that will clear things and you'll be back to booting normally.

Start up problem, white screen. Can you help?

Hello, this problem starts with a freeze up normally waking from sleep mode. Hard restart get fan noise,start up noise, white/gray screen with/out the apple or wheel and that is as far as it gets. Once in a while (like 2 in 4 days) it will boot completely. I have run disk utility 3 times, with it finding and fixing errors twice and none once. I have reset pram, I have tried booting booting from disc (holding c down while starting up) with no change. I have reset the sm by leaving the thing unplugged over night. I am in a small town with out a apple store and only one service center with a huge backlog! can anyone help? Oh and I have reinstalled osx and restored from timemachine 3 times and this still happens:-(

Thanks, I failed to write down the errors, but i do recall them coming up while checking the catalog hierarchy...not much help I know. Thanks for the system test tip, but fond no problem. would the power supply cause the top of the computer to heat up? I just noticed it seems to be hot. I have put a fan blowing on it, to help for now. Keep in mind that I could have just never noticed this before! Here is my last question, I have always purchased apple care, a search shows nothing registered for this computer. I moved about 6 months ago and have no clue where the box with my apple care would be. I can not find my purchase receipt. I recall the apple store emailing it to me, but alas, I cannot find it. Do they keep records of these things? Thank you again for all of your help!

Laptopn Pavilion Video problems, LCD screen is double , disorted

My Video in my Laptop Pavilion screen is double and distorted and difficult to read. This problem happened slowly over time. When the computer first starts to the XP Logo or when in
DOS. ..now when in boots in Windows, it is distorted and has a double screen and the laptop is not usable to view. To troubleshoot to see its major problem I plug the laptop into external LCD HP Monitor and gives me the same results.
It now the computer shuts down with blue screen.
Now the question is...what would be a good fix to get the computer working again or is it worth repairing?

I see the video output on your notebook is on the fritz!
The fact that the display presents the issue before the operating system has loaded tells us there is a hardware problem. The drivers have yet to be loaded at this point so safe mode and reinstalling drivers or Windows would be pointless.
You're most likely looking at an issue with the GPU or inverter. Both of these require extensive repairs to the motherboard and it would be best for you to contact HP Phone Support for repair quotes. It is possible that repairing the motherboard isn't financially worth it depending on your budget and your personal discretion.

Try a hard reset.
Hard reset. Turn off the phone. Press and hold three keys together, the green key, the '*' key and the number '3'.Then, turn on the phone and don't let the three keys before you see the Nokia hands logo.
For 5800 XM hard reset need different keys. The green key, the red key and the camera button. The process is the same.Warning!Hard reset deletes all your phone's data!

Late 2011 model display problems: white screen and shuts off on its own

A few days ago my macbook pro (late 2011 model) starting going nuts. The screen would turn white or become pixelated all the sudden, even if all i'm running is Chrome. The laptop is not over heated. This is what would happen:
Screen goes white or become pixilated
Computer shuts off on its own after a moment
Attempt to reboot, stuck on apple logo screen (pixilated)
Shuts off on its own again
The only way to reboot is through safe mode.
I've tried resetting SMC and running an apple hardware check.

It's most likely the macbook pro 2011 denied by apple GPU problem many many others suffer from too.
