Ichat video works with some people and not others

Can someone help me? I can video Ichat with some people and not others. HOwever, if the people I can video ichat with put me in a three way chat with someone I can't Icaht video with, it works. Here is the first half of the error I get when I try to call someone with whom it doesn't work:

I found the following comment the other day that goes some way to explaining why iChat might have problems with some NAT routers:

While it doesn't offer any solutions it might be worth firing off some iChat feedback to Apple referencing it. It seems like it might be a trivial bug for Apple to fix and could well alleviate many of the problems people are having.
In the mean time if your router is one that has SIP ALG you could try disabling it and forwarding all relevant ports to your machine.

Running into Problems with Flash Player with some sites and not others

Hi All,
I've run into problems with Flash Player 10,0,45,2. In IE 8, FF 3.6.3 and Google Chrome (which I downloaded as a last ditch measure), some websites (such as youtube) work fine. Other sites such as wimp.com I get an empty box. I've reinstalled flash, but haven't seen much else in these forums to try to figure out what the problem is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Flash Site is working on some computers and not others.

I created a website in Flash (CS5 but used AS 2.0) and uploaded it to the web through Dreamweaver. In Flash I have an intro page which plays the intro and at the end has a container in which all the other pages load into (I used the Load External Movie Behavior). This site works fine (through Internet Explorer) on my computer and my collegue's computer and a friend who has a new iMac. It does not work on my client's computer or the computers in her office. The only thing I can think of is that my computer is 64-bit and hers is 32-bit, but I obviously don't know for sure. Is there anyone who can help? Thanks*

Seagate external hard drive works on some computers and not others

I have a 1T Seagate external HD. I upgraded to the new Snow Lepard recently and ever since then I can't access it. There are a ton of posts about this, I know. But when I plug it into my friends Imac, it runs fine. But when I plug it into my MacBook, it says "This device cannot be read by this machine" and asks for me to ignore or eject. I have no permissions. I can't mount or unmount, delete or partition. On the Imac I have all the permissions though. I have changed all the settings to make sure that everyone can read/write. But the laptop still can't use it. I have Iphoto from a few of my friends computer's backed up on it and that doesn't allow you copy it so just erasing or reformatting is out of the question. Any ideas or help would be awesome!

Okay so iChat 4.0.7 works fine on my computer with video chat but when I do video chat with some people on my buddy list alone just me and that person I invite him/her and him/her invites me. But it always says to these people:
"Starting Video Chat" then after that it says:
THERE WAS A COMMUNICATION ERROR DURING YOUR CHAT every time I do it. Before that it never did this and all of a sudden...? ...makes no sense!
And it works fine with everyone else. And she's not even blocked.

It contains several parts
A Header listening date and such
A Failure paragraph listing the Error log code.
A possible long section that looks like repeats about posts and INVITES and such
Lastly a section starting "Binary Images for iChat" and continues with a list of everything that is started up on you Mac.
We (I) don't need or Want the last section.
Old Logs are stored in your Home Folder/Library/Logs/iChatConnectionErrors by date and time

I have just tested the Open Browser Window behavior in Dreamweaver CC. It creates slightly different code from Dreamweaver CS6, but it works correctly. This is what is created in the HTML:

The definition of the MM_openBrWindow() function is needed in the <head> for the code to work. But it definitely works OK.
With regard to _self and _blank not working, I can't find any problem with the way Dreamweaver CC handles them.

How do I troubleshoot installation/distribution of a LabVIEW .exe which processes data using Matlab when it works on some computers but not others?

I've been given the unenviable task of troubleshooting and installing/distributing software written by a former co-worker. I've modified the LabVIEW code and built an .exe file. I've successfully installed the Labview .exe file on several computers, but it won't work on some others. What's more baffling is that I installed it successfully on one computer, uninstalled it, and tried reinstalling it with no success. In fact, it's a new error (Dr. Watson for Windows NT application error). It doesn't help that I have different versions of LabVIEW and Matlab on the target computers. Some have LabVIEW 5.1, some
have 5.0, and some don't have it at all. Some have Matlab 5.2, some have 5.3 (R11) and some have 6.0 (R12). It's also not clear to me where the Matlab m files should be located. I'm not sure if it's a LabVIEW Runtime Engine problem, or if it's a Matlab problem. I've also wondered how LabVIEW and Matlab talk to each other. When LabVIEW calls Matlab, it seems that Matlab is running in the background. In other words, clicking on the Matlab Command Window and typing "whos" or any other command/variable doesn't work.

My iPhone4 docks correctly with some devices but not others, please help!

Firstly spologies if this is old news but sometimes its easier to 're-ask' than trawl thousands of pages!.....
I have a 3-year old iPhone 4 that has developed a problem which i'm trying hard to solve;
*Phone used to dock fine with anything and everything - this was about 1 year ago.
*for no apparent reason it ceased docking with my Bose Soundock and a Logic3 accessory dock (connected to a hi-fi) at home
*symptoms were; it would charge and operate as normal whilst docked but would not play music through either (the Logic3 dock did not acknowledge it was docked). Otherwise it would sync and connect normally with iTunes, etc. and connected fine when plugged into my car.
*I reset it, restored it from back-up, updated/reinstalled iOS (this has since updated at least twice) with no other effects. Also checked and reset all settings.
*I subsequently bought a Pure Contour dock as I was able to try it in the shop and my phone worked with it, plus it has Airplay anyway. I have since, in an attempt to find a bedside DAB radio/alarm dock that works with it, found that it works fine with some devices but not others with no rhyme or reason as to which.
*2 days ago I changed out the docking port myself using a cheap replacement bought from Amazon, to see if it would cure.
* now the problem is reversed! The Bose and Logic3 docks I have, that it wouldn't work on before, it now DOES....and the Pure dock and my car, which it DID work with before now fail to connect with it!
*just to reiterate this, my wife's gen3 and gen5 iPods dock and work faultlessly with all devices mentioned....and mine had done previously.
to my knowledge it is NOT;
- a compatibility issue. The phone used to work fine on everything I had. Then it stopped. How's that?!
- a connector issue. The male connectors on all docks haven't changed.......and the female connector in my phone has changed from liking selected devices to then liking the others!! (it is female after all ;-) !)
-a software issue. iOS has been updated and the phone wiped and restored and all sorts so many times I can;t see how it can be!
could it be a problem with the data exchange between phone and device when it is docked??
or do I really need to try changing the port for an 'official' one??

It's either a problem with the connector on your phone (dirt, lint, bent pin, corrosion) or with its connection to the motherboard inside. Cleaning the connector is a good place to start; either a dry toothbrush, air blast can or wood toothpick. Next inspect it carefully with a good magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe. If nothing turns up it is probably damage inside, which will be difficult to fix. Aren't you due for an upgrade about now? Your iPhone 4 is 3 generations out of date!

One of the websites that doesn't load is google.com! It loads some of the page, just some menu items at the top of the page. Then, it hangs and remains in the Loading state (with the spinning wheel and "Loading" in the tab) indefinitely.
The problem started after 3.6.11 was installed. I'm on Mac OS 10.6.4.
I would be happy if you just showed me where I can download 3.6.10. Also, is there anything special I have to do if installing an older version?

I ended up going into the clear history settings and setting it to clear history when Firefox closes and chosing it to clear history and cooking and browsing history when Firefox closes. Now the links work fine and the last page I was looking at before I closed Firefox is no longer there when it opens again. Problem solved!

Why will iMovie allow editing of some songs and not others?

I've downloaded a number of songs directly from iTunes onto my ipad2. Why can I edit one song I downloaded and not others in I movie? I don't get it. These songs are from the same album, so if its a copyright issue what's the deal? Help me please!

If just some of the tracks on the album are giving you that message, that suggests that those tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Why the iPad internal speakers not working with some applications and key sound?

My iPad1 ' internal speakers not fully functioning. It is working with music and video, YouTube , but not working with applications such as games.

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

Video works with one friend but not another?? please HELP!

my ichat video isn't connecting with my friend christina. we've taken turns calling each other and my computer keeps saying "no data has been received in 10 seconds" i can hear the ringing and then when we go to connect thats when the message comes up and cancels the call. at the same exact time my other friend sam was online so to test out my video chat i called her. & it worked. christina also connected with sam separately & that worked. then we tried a conference where all 3 of us could chat, and sam started it and invited both of us. it worked and we could all talk & see each other. however for some reason i can't connect to just christina. what's going on?

Welcome to the  Discussions
iChat can have several messages on a failed chat.
The "No Data for 10 Secs" one only appears on chats that connect (even if you don't see the Video)
Basically it point to an issues between iChat at the Internet.
The same Result can be achieved by pulling the Ethernet cable out or turning the Airport card off or powering down the modem or router.
So we have to look at what can produce a similar break in the Internet connection without the drastic steps above.
Some modem and router have "protection" features that will do this.
Denial of Service (DoS) tries to make sure any data that come to your Computer does so at a rate it can handle.
It was originally designed to protect Web Servers from "attacks" where too many requests coming to frequently used to bring servers and their Internet connections to halt.
So Dos is threshold based,. It will cut any port that it thinks there is an "Attack" on.
Video chats can send lots of data.
These thresholds that are preset in the device tend to be set at Web page streaming speeds (allowing for multiple requests on popular servers) - but also at older Internet Speeds.
Modern Speeds and things like iChat Streaming two way Video can mean that certain Buddies can send you data faster than the threshold is set for particularly with iChat 5.
Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) works differently but can only process a certain amount of data and will cut the port that is causing it to be overloaded making it Threshold based as well.
There is no way to change the thresholds involved so the best course of action is to Disable the feature.
So the Speed Sam has to send you Video may be lower than that of Christine and not bump into the threshold.
If Sam is the Host then it the Speed of that Internet Connection that governs how fast Data is sent to you.
One solution is to cap iChat in iChat > Preferences > Audio/Video Menu to 500kbps on the all Buddies involved.
If this solve the issue between you and Christine then you can move on to your Modem or router.
