IChat with a PC with Acobat Connect

My daughter has an older PC laptop with Adobe Acrobat Connect Professional installed. I tried to IM with her using iChat AV. She sent us an e-mail with a link to her address and when I click on it we connect, and I can see her, but she sees only herself. Sound seems to work OK. Any ideas about why she can't see me, or what I can do about it? Is this a problem at her end or mine?

Hi
It looks like a Flash site, when you go to the you see a "Video window" control(right) click on the window and you should see a menu click on the webcam icon and make sure you have chosen the right cam and you have gave permission to use it.

i can no longer log into my ichat linked to my gmail.  right after opening up ichat, receive the following message:  lost connection with jabber.  the server has unexpectedly disconnected.  how to troubleshoot?  thanks.

    Hi,
There can be many reasons why the Login is "up the creek".
Any break in the network at your end whilst logged in will cause  an issue.
A sort of discrepancy between what iChat thinks the state should be and what the server thinks.
If they don't agree the server will refuse to accept.
A Crash at the server end which does not log you out properly will also do it.
Any file at any time can be come corrupted.
Luckily with the iChat .plists they are recreated if removed with an iChat Restart.
If it were AIM you can also get your Account Suspended  and this will not log you in.
(It tends to happen from Chat rooms where people notify AIM about bad behaviour (as they see it) and you have to apply to get Un-suspended).
Most of the big IM services use multiple servers.
Sometimes these go out of Sync.
In the case of AIM this happens when they remove Old unused Screen Names from people's Buddy List prior to making them available for re-registration.  I am not sure if this happens at Google.
You seem to be talking about an account that has worked at Work and having new computer at home.
As I mentioned the Priority thing you have not said that it has coincided with the new computer logging in  (this will kick the work Computer out of Google whether you are logged in  on the Web Mail page or in iChat)
IN addition to that iChat stays partially logged in for Off Line IMs
This is done in the background by a support app called iChatAgent
If your Computer is ON but ichat is not started people can still send you Messages.
Instead of saving these on the server until you login iChat will start up.
Depending if the home Mac is effecting the Work Login it may be holding sway over your Login.
Using your girlfriend's login may have booted her Off Line where she normally uses the name/login.
The AIM Side can be specifically set to allow Multiple Logins and therefore NOT allow them.  If this happens you get a warning and messages to do something about it.
You do not get these in any Jabber or Google Login as the Priority setting is supposed to take care of it.
If the Login works at the Web Mail Login and on one computer then the .plist on the work computer is the most likely issue.
There is a small chance that a Corrupt Buddy Pic (Home Folder/Library/Caches/com.apple.iChat/Pictures) may be the cause.
Set this folder to icon view and also use the Finder's View Menu > Show View Options and select icon view.
This should show all pics as their icon.
    Check that all display properly.
At this point I would try a COMBO version update install of the last Update you did over what you have.
This often corrects hard to trace things
    The 10.5.8 COMBO is here

  • Ichat with an Ibook G3 500 mzh...

    Hi everybody,
I'd like to use Ichat with my kids. They have my old Ibook G3 500 mzh with 640 mgs ram on Panther 10.3.9. I have a G4 dbl 450 with 1.25 g ram and the latest version of Tiger and I just got an Isight camera.
Is the Ibook robust enough for the task, should I upgrade it to Tiger, should I use Ichat 2.1 or Ichat AV, should they use the Panasonic DV Webcam they already have or would it be better with an Isight camera?... The Ibook has a firewire connection.
    Sorry about that many questions...
    Thank you

    Hi Jean-Francios,
About the iBook, it is below Spec anyway. (It can be done though) You need iChatUSBCam This allows USB Cams to work on all Macs with iChat (A/V versions) It also allows the use of iSight specifically on Sub G3/600Mhz machines.
If the G4 is on Panther it will have ichat 2 and upgrading to iChat 2.1 should help.
    See Ryan's Start up Pages.

  • Video ichat with XL1

From everything that I have read, I believe it should be possible to video ichat with my XL1. See old post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=276831&tstart=30.
I am connected via firewire, but under preferences>video, iChat AV 2.1 does not detect a camera attached.
    Any solutions?
    600 MHz PowerPC G3 iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   512 MB RAM, Canon XL1

Ok, so I did more research and found that ichat AV 2.1 requires a G4 or G5 for work with a DV camera. I operate on a G3. This is just another reason for me to buy a new computer.

  • Is it possible to video ichat with windows?

    Hi,
I have a friend using a Windows XP pc and she would like to video conference with my Mac.
Is it possible for me to connect and have a video conference with a Windows XP guest?
    What software (application) is needed?
I am using iChat with my powermacG5, works great when I connect with other Mac.
    Thanks

    Hi
For AIM set-up for PC http://www.mvldesign.com/videoconferencetutorial.html#xp they must be using AIM5.9 and not AIM Triton.
You might have better success using Skype to a PC.

  • Cannot Ichat with Airport Express

    Hi all,
Having installed Leopard on our Imac G5 we could no longer do ichat, we also had a new router a Speedtouch ST536 v6. We solved the problem with the help of the helpline at speedtouch, they got me to set up a PPPoE account and that enabled us to do ichat with family in the UK. What we really want is a wireless connection so we then installed an airport card and installed airport express. We can happily connect to the internet and email but again we cannot video ichat (we can text). I have spoken to apple and to speedtouch neither will accept responsibility for our problem. If the modem is the problem then can someone just tell me or does anyone, I don't fully understand what a PPPoE connection is and why this works but Airport Express does. I am desperate to be wireless and use ichat, HOW CAN THIS BE ACHEIVED. Any help gratefully receibed, I am so frustrated with the whole thing!!!!

If it's not already, the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) should be configured as a "bridge."
To set up the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) as a "bridge," using the AirPort Utility, either connect to the AX's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort > Wireless tab
o Wireless Mode: Create a wireless network
    o Network Name: <leave the default>
    o Radio Mode: 802.11b/g compatible
    o Channel: Automatic
    Internet > Internet Connection
    o Connect Using: Ethernet
    o Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
o Ethernet WAN Port: Automatic (Default)
o Connection Sharing: Off (Bridge Mode)

  • Cannot start iChat with friend - receive error "Invalid remote IP address"

I'm having trouble connecting to iChat with friend. We are both using AIM accounts and click on connect. The other person accepts the invitation and iChat tries to connect. It fails and I receive the error message, "invalid remote IP address". I'm am using Mac OS X Tiger while my friend has Leopard. Does that make a difference? I appreciate any feedback.

The Leopard end should make sure that in System Preferences > Sharing has Internet Sharing Off.
Also they should not be connected to the Internet twice such as Wifi and Ethernet to the same router.
Using Parallels in Leopard causes a similar issue.
In this case turn Off the two VPNs in System Preferences > Network (and set Parallels itself to get it's Own IP and not share the Mac's)
Some MIMO modem or Wifi routers can cause this.
Get a new modem or router is the simple answer to that one.

    All,
Hope someone has some idea how to resolve this (Ralph?). It's our old friend, Error - 8.
But here's the weird part: I am able to video/audio conference with appleu3test 01, 02, abd 03. My friend can similarly connect to those robots.

Binary Images Description for "iChat":.....[snip: binary image stuff]
Why would we be able to talk to the robots, but not to each other. Any ideas?

    All,
Thanks for your input. And thanks especially to James Weston, Jeremy Varner, and Defcom, for kindly allowing me to test my iChat with them (and in the case of Jeremy, in the middle of the night).
After working pretty hard on the issue, I resolved my inability to iChat. In my case, the solution to Error-8 turned out to be pretty simple.
As described elsewhere on this board, the issue was open ports in my router. Instead of hassling with port forwarding, however, I 1) updated my firmware; and 2) once updated to the latest version, I activated UPnP. YMMV.
That first bit was important, as selecting UPnP on my old firmware apparently didn't work. Once updated, however, I had no problem chatting with the testers. Also, as descrbed elsewhere, don't put much stock in your ability to iChat with the robots. Use the live testers. The ones I chatted with were helpful and extremely accomadating.
    Good luck all.
    Greg

  • Problem with JCo Connection Pool

    Hi,
I have a problem with using an RFC Model in my WebApplication. So sometimes the access to the function block works, and sometimes it doesn't work. Now I know, that there is a problem with the connection pool. Look at this message:
com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (106) JCO_ERROR_RESOURCE: Connection pool WD_X24_MODELDATA_DEST_CPIC_REKTO_DE_useDefinedUser is exhausted. The current pool size limit (max connections) is 10 connections.
So it looks like a problem with closing the JCo Connections after using. Do know where the problem is? Because I'm using many other function blocks with no problems.

    Hello,
You need to increase the pool size via Visual Administrator.
Server 0 -> Services -> JCO RFC Connections.
Change the pool size from there. I believe a restart is in order.
    Regards,
    Jan

  • Problems with ipod connection.

    Problems with ipod connection.
I have problems to connect my ipod to computer windows 7.
When I connect I get the following error:
"We encountered an ipod, but could not be identified correctly. Disconnect and reconnect the ipod and try again."
And it recognizes the ipod when trying to go play music or videos make me the following error:
"Error while trying to copy on disk. The device is not connected."
I've uninstalled all apple applications and re-installing, as I formatted the ipod and continues to set the same error.
    What else can I do?

    Hello,
While your symptoms don't exactly match the descriotion, this article may be usefull in discovering if there is a setting on your computer that is causing this to happen.

  • Problems with SSH: Connection Refused

    Greetings fellow Arch users,
I have hit a bit of a snag that I could really use some extra help getting around. I've tried everything I can think of (and everything that Google thought might work) and I have my back rather against a wall, so I thought I'd come here to see if anyone can offer some advice.
To make a long story short, I am a college student and am attempting to set up an ssh server on a desktop at my house so I can access it remotely from the college. I have the computer set up and the server running, however I am having difficulty making connections to it from my laptop. I know that the server is running, because I can log into it both from the server itself (sshing into local host) and from my laptop when I use the internal IP address.
The server is on a static IP address within the network(192.168.0.75), and my router is configured to forward TCP port 1500 to it (I'm using 1500 as the port for my ssh server). However, when I attempt to log into the ssh server using my network's external IP address, the connection is refused. I used nmap to scan my network and found that, even though the proper ports are forwarded to the proper place as far as my Router's configuration interface is concerned, port 1500 is not listed as one of the open TCP ports. I also, to test it, temporarily disabled the firewalls on both the server and the client. That didn't help. The command that I am running is:
    ssh -p 1500 douglas@[external ip address
As I am really not sure what is causing this problem, I don't know what information to provide. So here is everything that my inexperienced mind sees as likely being important. If you need anything more, let me know and I will do my best to provide it.
Here is the sshd_config file from my server.
    # This is the sshd server system-wide configuration file. See
    # sshd_config(5) for more information.
    # This sshd was compiled with PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin

Thank you guys ahead of time. Getting this server operational is hardly critical, it is just a side project of mine, but I would really like to see it working.

Okay, so I finally have the opportunity to try and log in from a remote network. And. . .  it doesn't work. Which is just my luck because I now need to wait an entire week, at least, before I can touch the server again. Anyway, running ssh with the maximum verbosity I get this output:
    douglas ~ $ ssh -vvv -p 2000 address
    OpenSSH_6.3, OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013
    debug1: Reading configuration data /home/douglas/.ssh/config
    debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
    debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0
debug1: Connecting to address [address] port 2000.
debug1: connect to address address port 2000: Connection timed out
ssh: connect to host address port 2000: Connection timed out
It takes a minute or two for the command to finish with the connection timeout, as one would expect. And yes, I am reasonably sure that the address that I am using is my home network's external IP. It is dynamic, but I checked it before I left which was just over an hour ago. I guess that it may have changed. I'll know that for sure in the morning, when my server sends me an automatic email with the network's current address. In the meantime I am operating under the assumption that the address I am using is correct. What else could be the problem?

  • Not the average problem with wireless connection. Please help me..

I've been having wireless connection problems ever since I upgraded to Verizon FiOS from Verizon Wireless. Before upgrading to Verizon FiOS in the fall of 2012, my brother's laptop connected just fine with the connection. After upgrading to Verizon FiOS, my brother's laptop could not connect to the internet. It showed the wireless connection signal as Excellent, but I could not access the internet. Either it would be extremely slow or there would be no connection at all. Also, the router would sometimes restart itself randomly, and it was extremely annoying for me since I am hardwired with my desktop.
This was weird because my iPod Touch connected perfectly fine to the wifi. So I thought it must be the laptop. But I brought the laptop over to my cousin's house, who also happens to have Verizon FiOS, and the laptop connected perfectly fine. I called Verizon and none of the technicians knew what the problem was. We tried disabling and enabling the router, changing the channels, and anything that was on the list. They couldn't help me and I was extremely disappointed because not only am I not accessing the internet with my brother's laptop, but I am also paying for the service too. The last technician I called in 2012 decided to send me a new router. I hoped this would work, but it did not. This router, too, would completely reset itself numerous times before settling down and letting me use the internet.
I gave up after that. But in the spring of 2013, I got really fed up with the service I was receiving and I decided to call Verizon again. Again, Verizon tried to help me fix the laptop with their tools and solution guides. But nothing good came out of it, so I decided to ask for a technician to come to my apartment to fix it. We scheduled a day and I was pretty excited since I was almost positive that the connection for the laptop would be fine by then.
I was wrong. The technician came and only stayed for about 20 minutes. He said it must be the laptop or it must be that the walls are too thick in my apartment. But that can't be it since, in my cousin's house, the router is on the second floor and my brother was using his laptop on the first floor. So it couldn't be the laptop nor the house. So we came to no conclusion. He just attached a mini router to the laptop and hardwired it. I wasn't so content but I was glad my brother could finally use the internet now.
About three months pass by and I decide to get myself a new laptop. I get it and I am hoping the wireless connection works. It did, so I was almost positive that it was my brother's laptop that was the problem, not the wireless signal. I go on vacation for a few days and I connect perfectly fine at my friend's house. When I return home and try to connect to my wireless connection, it didn't work!
At this point, I am extremely frustrated. I decided to call Verizon again to replace my router because it was being extremely annoying. It kept resetting itself and I was tired of it. I replaced the router, and this is the router I currently have, but I STILL have the same problem. It resets itself on its own time and I hate it because I'm always in the middle of something. Wow, just wow. There is nothing they could do to help me fix this. I call up a technician, for the millionth time, and he tells me he can't access my router. This occurred with the previous technician who sent me the new router. He tells me his tools are not working and tells me he'll call me back the next day.
It was the next day and I did not receive any phone call. I am extremely disappointed in Verizon FiOS' service and it's customer service. I leave it alone and I just hardwire my laptop to the router. Of course this works, but what's the point of having a laptop when I have to keep it hardwired on my desk? After a day or two, I decide to check if the wireless connection works, and it did. I was surprised. But every now and then, it would shift on and off. Most of the time, the wireless connection is either EXREMELY SLOW or I get none at all, nonetheless, it still says the connection is Excellent.
Please, if there is anyone who could help or try to help me, I would most appreciate it. If there is more information that you need, ask me and I will try my best to provide it to you.

Admittedly, that IS a strange case. Unfortunately, it sounds like all possible troubleshooting has been done by the tech support agents. you mentioned that you were dissatisfied with your other service, did it have a similar problem? theres a possibility of dirty fiber or a bad ONT port, but the random rebooting of the router would almost exclusively be a bad router. question: is the router in the same location as before?

  • Cannot access to any site with ssl connection and fail to open safari and keychain, unless restart computer and login in with Guest account.

when Update to 10.7.2 ,I cannot access to any site with ssl connection and fail to open safari and keychain, unless restart computer and login in with Guest account.
    OS:10.7.2
    Macbook Pro 2010-mid 13inch

I also have the same problem, however if I use Firefox or Opera sites with ssl connection work fine. Still, I can't use Google Chrome (ssl), Safari (ssl), the Mac app store (generally), or the iTunes store (generally). Both the iTunes store, Safari and the app store won't respond, and Chrome displays this error: (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT). The problem persists regardless of what network I'm using. Also, when trying to access the keychain or iCloud, the process will not start (will hang). I didn't have these problems at all before updating to 10.7.2.
Sometimes rebooting helps, and sometimes not. If the problem disappears by rebooting, then it only lasts a few minutes before it reappears. It is very frustrating, especially since there doesn't seem to be any obvious or consistent way of which to fix it.
    I'm also using a Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2010.

  • Issues with WiFi connection to Deskjet 3545

    Hi,
I have number of issues with WiFi connection to my new Deskjet 3545 AIO:
    1. Printer is not able to get IP address automatically from home WiFi router (all other devices get IP with no problem). Using WPS allow printer to register in network but after switching off, WPS setting is not stored, so I have to do it again. This I was able to solve with manual entering of IP address, netwrok mask, DNS and gateway address.
    2. Official HP software installed from HP site was able to find printer for 3dattempt, and it started to work. But after a while, "HP utility" program loose connection to printer,  so I can not see any parameters, and I get "can not find printerä message when start to to print. After a some time (minutes to hours), whithout any action from my side, connection to printer seems to be restored, so I can see printer parameters in "HP utility" and printing is started.
    3.  Official HP software installed from HP site on PC (Windows 7) is not able to find printer on WiFi at all, works only with USB.
All this is disaponinting and unexpected, as my office HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color works perfect.

Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal.
Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.
If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.
Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals.
I would also recommend this website, HP Wireless Printing Center - Troubleshooting Issues.
Hope this information is helpful, and have a nice day!
