Ick.. think my battery died? not even a year later.

I've had my laptop hooked up next to my pc for a few weeks (bout 2) plugged into the AC outlet. Not a problem at all.
Always had a green light...
So this morning I go to unplug it to bring it into work with me, and bram it shuts off. Odd... replug it in, hrm.. check the little LED indicator on the bottom of the battery... showing as dead.. even though the adapter shows it as charged.. Works fine with adapter just not with battery.
Leopard shows my battery as "not charging" however.
Think my battery is kaput. Battery shows 75 cycles.. charge remaining 0.. fully charged no.. chargng no.. full charge capacity.. 0.. battery health poor.
Is it dead jim? I am under warranty so i'm not concerned really, but I find it odd it died this way. Going to try resetting the usual first.

No charge after only 85 cycles sounds like a dead battery or a "stuck" charging circuit not letting it charge. Try [resetting the SMC|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319] and [resetting the PRAM|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238] and see if that gets the charger to go into fast charge mode (yellow/orange light on the plug LED) and the battery manages to get and hold a charge. If not, warranty replacement seems in order.
While it is considered bad to keep the portable plugged in all the time, without letting the battery exercise itself, and a battery recalibration (which carries with it a full discharge/charge cycle) is recommended every couple of month, two weeks of continuous plug-in shouldn't cause a complete battery failure, unless it was already weak from the start.

  • Laptop not even a year old and the power cord is stripping really bad and barely working

My toshiba laptop is not even a year old and the part of the cord closest to my computer is becoming really stripped. I noticed that it got very hot during pc use, I just assumed that was normal, but I'm starting to think that this heat made the rubber very soft and caused the cord to strip. I guess my question is, do you think toshiba will replace this or will they just say that it was my fault that it happened?

You can either use a cloud service like Google Drive, or use the built in Verizon Cloud Backup, or you could plug the phone into a computer and use it like a USB drive and copy the photos from there to the PC.  Your contacts are backup up through Google if you've been saving contacts to your Google account, otherwise Verizon has a backup on the phone as well and when you restart the phone after wipe you can select either or both accounts to restore from.
To factory Reset:  Go to Settings (pull down notification bar click on gear top right corner).  Then go to Back up and Reset.  At the bottom is Factory data reset.  Press that then press reset phone.  It WILL be completely wiped, but it will keep the current OS version.  It'll be like you just bought it.

This is all very confusing and frustrating. You recommended that I install the latest updates for:
    1. Shockwave Flash security (but do not tell me the number for the latest update)
    2. Java Plug-In version 1.6.0_07
    3. Flash version 10.0
However, you do not tell me how install these. I also woke up early so I could access your Chat service from 6:00 - 7:00 am Pacific time but it is not available. I have also not been able to find a contact phone number to get my problem resolved. I regularly purchase on ebay and have had this problem for all 3 purchases I made in the last week. I need to purchase several other items in the next few weeks before I leave the country for 2 months. I need to get this problem resolved immediately. If someone can call me, my phone number is 720-***-****.
    Thank you.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Am I the only one who gets exited out of everything on my iPhone?! I will open up Instagram and not even 2 minutes later it will close down. How do I fix this?! It's so annoying.

I will assume you are using a slower iPhone 4 on iOS 7 if you are experiencing such problems so frequently. You might already be trying this, but my first suggestion would be to double tap the home button and see what you have running. You might not be quitting any of the apps you open. To stop an app from running and slowing down your phone, after double-tapping, slide the preview cards up for apps you don't need to run.

  • MacBook pro died and not even 2 years old?

Has any else been told the main logic board is dead? With an over $1000 replace fee...
Can I at least send it in for parts and get a discount on a new computer?
No explanation on how it died, because apple doesn't know, just that it isn't liquid damage or power surge.. Spent $150 just to find out that I either need to spend over a grand on repair or just get a new computer .. This MacBook was 'made' online with bigger hard drive ect ect.. So sad :(
Does anyone have any insight or help?.. Suppose I should have spent the extra $400 on apple care .. I just didn't think after spending over $2000 on a laptop that it wouldn't even last at least 3 years.. Especially with everyone saying that apple is the best!
I'm really disappointed and feel that maybe I shouldn't replace my MacBook with an apple product.
Sorry if this question is blunt but it's my third time writing it on an iPhone with a lag and then decided to wipe my previous questions before I could post them :/
Thank you for any help :)

  • My iPod Touch 4 responds and runs VERY slowly, it is probably not even a year old, is restoring it the only option?

My iPod runs VERY slowly, I preordered it when the first white iPods came out. Even typing here it can't keep up, I know if you have less than 6 GB left on your memory it supposedly runs slowly so I deleted stuff and have 13 GB left, I also always close my apps every few hours and my apps always shut down unexpectedly or even before the app can get to the main screen. I do not want to but a new one at all and my dad suggests restoring it and putting it to its original settings but I'm afraid I'll lose my smurfs village and tiny tower. So is restoring your iPod the only way to improve the speed or are there other things?

Try backing up the iPod and then restoring friom backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iTunes backup make sure that all you synced media like apps and music are in your iTunes library since synced media is not in the backup. You iPod will be like it was, included app data like saved games, when the backup was made.

  • Inconsistent volume on dv5 1007tx (not even 2 years old yet)

I've got a pavilion dv5 1007tx with Vista SP2 (32-bit). BIOS ver F.16 (latest at time of posting). I'll get straight to the point:
The problem is the maximum volume of the audio output will, from time to time, drop. Not the volume indicator (max volume under Windows), but the overall max level of the volume will just get lower (this is based on my listening).
Rebooting doesn't help, it will still be lower than usual. I've installed the latest IDT drivers from the HP website.
What helps is if I power down, take the battery out, unplug the power supply, and hold the power button for at least 1 minute (the 'attempt to clear most errors' method). Only then will the volume resume to its normal levels. However, from time to time, the volume will noticeably drop again. It hasn't dropped down to zero though (thank God).
This is noticeable both in games and music. I've checked volume controls on all applications and ensure that they are set to max in both the application and Windows.
By the way, I'm using external speakers, and have tried other audio sources to verify that the problem isn't with the speakers.

  • Broken screen on ipad and Apple Store in the centre of Sydney incredibly rude and unhelpful.  Can someone advise what to do, not even a year old!

Bought ipad around 4 months ago and have been using the magnetic cover that also turns into a stand.  Sadly it got knocked off the meeting table and has shattered the glass.  This has been taken into the Apple store in central Sydney where they were incredibly unhelpful and told us, you have to make an appointment over the internet.  Unless we are buying another computer they really don't care.  Makes me feel quite ill, especially as we have so many apple products.
Can anyone advise how we get the screen fixed without it costing us the same as it would to buy a new one?

Accidentaly damage is, as you've found out, not covered under warranty. Apple does not repair iPads, but will replace the entire iPad for a flat fee (which is significantly less than the price of a new iPad, though not iconsiderable); see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/service/faq/
There are independent iPad repair services that may be able to to a repair for less. Do a web search for "ipad repair".
