ICloud acct problems

I updated my payment information and pressed "done" in my iCloud account, but the app won't close and my information won't update. I have had no problems with iTunes.

There is no 'download'. What did you actually do? Did you have a MobileMe account and migrate it athttp://me.com/move ? - this is irreversible and you will need to set up your Mail application manually to access your mail. If you have 10.5.8 you don't have Snow Leopard, you have Leopard. The method for Snow Leopard is described here:
http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudmail.html
Leopard is probably much the same - I haven't been able to test it - except that you probably won't need to enter a fake email address at the start.
Your contacts will have been removed from MobileMe (though not from your Mac) and will not appear on iCloud: your calendars will have been removed from MobileMe and may or may not appear on iCloud. Neither will sync with Leopard or Snow Leopard.
There is no way to revert to MobileMe: in any case if you did not migrate by the end of June you would lose your email address when MobileMe closes, so at present you have the only way of continuing available to you.

My husband just got an iPhone also, can we have separate iCloud accts? All my contacts and appointments are now on his phone too.

I had the same problem too.
Yes, you can go apply for a new AppleID, which would be <your account>@icloud.com.
Then put this new AppleID into the icloud account field.
After this action, you will not be seeing the same contacts and appointments.
But for the itunes store, you still can use the same AppleID so that you can share purchases.
My wife and I use separate icloud accounts, and then we use a 3rd appleid for our itunes store. This allowed us to have separate contacts but still share itune purchases.

  • TS4020 How do I change the iCloud acct on my sons i-Pod?

When my 12yr old son got a new i-Pod (gen 4), I originally set it up to use my iCloud acct. Now he's got his own e-mail address, so I'd like to have his i-Pod create and use his e-mail address. I can't figure out how to change that from his device, or while hooked up to i-Tunes on my PC.  Also, doing this won't automatically kill his sync ability to my i-Tunes on my PC, right?  Many thanks for any help!

If you want to simply change accounts on his iPod, save any photo stream photos that he wants to keep to his camera roll, then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes if from his iPod, not from iCloud; your phone won't be effected by this), provide the password (if using iOS 7), then sign back in with his new Apple ID to create his new account.  If you want to migrate a copy of the data to his new account, choose Keep on My iPod when you delete the account, then choose Merge after signing into his new account to upload the data.
Having a separate iCloud account won't effect his ability to sync with iTunes on your PC.

  • How do I get signed into Icloud when it says my apple id is valid but not an icloud acct?

How do I get signed into Icloud when it says my apple id is valid but not an icloud acct?

You will have to sign in to I cloud on any of the iOS device with version 5 or above  once with your Apple Id to use your Apple Id as I cloud account. So if you have an iPhone iPad or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later.
On your iOS device go to settings > I cloud and sign in and you should be able to use your Apple Id as an icloud Id.

Use the same Apple ID for everything.

  • When my husband and I got these iPhones . We had the same Apple ID .(not good) that has changed . We have a iCloud acct. how or what do I need to do to change on my setting under iCloud it has his Apple ID  and also on r PC it has only his info none of mi

To change the iCloud account on your phone you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone.  When you delete the account you will be given the option to either keep or delete the iCloud data from your phone.  This also, only deletes the account and the iCloud data from your phone, not from iCloud.  Your husband's phone won't be effected by this.  Then, to create a separate account, sign back in with a different Apple ID (you can continue to share the same ID for iTunes).
If you have any photo stream photos that you want to keep on the phone, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account.
If you're sharing the same ID for iMessage and FaceTime you'll end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.  To prevent this, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your new iCloud ID.  Then do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

  • Can i use 1 icloud acct with multiple ipads/iphones?

Is it necessary to create seperate icloud accts for each device ipad & iphone or can all devices use one acct provided there is enough storage?

If you mean will it keep your backups separate for each device, yes it will as you can see in this screenshot.
But as snozdop stated, the idea behind using iCloud, other than for backups, is to keep your data synced across all devices. Now that does not mean that you have to be running the identical apps on all devices and have the same media across all devices, it just means that if you use Pages for instance on all devices, your files and documents will be in sync across all devices ... And your calendars, reminders, notes, will be kept in sync.

  • HT4436 Is there a way to connect my iCloud acct. so that my regular email address is my user name instead of the .me email address? I don't even know how to access my very old .me address.

Anyone know if you can replace your .me email address for your regular email address? I'm trying to set up my iCloud acct. on my iPhone but the default email adddress is my .me email which I never used and do not know the password for. When I use the Forgot Password link, it sends to my .me email address
and I never used it and don't know how to access that address. Arg. Anyway to clean slate and permanently eliminate the .me thing?

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • I bought a used ipad on ebay and the icloud acct is still linked to the old owner who doesn't remember the acct information. How can I set up my apple id on the iPad.

I bought a used ipad on ebay and the icloud acct is still linked to the old owner who doesn't remember the acct information. How can I set up my apple id on the iPad?

You will need the previous owner's Apple ID and Password to:
    1. Turn off Find My iPhone
    2. Erase device
    3. Reactivate device

  • Two Apple IDs, Two Icloud accts, two contact data bases??

Hi all, I hope you might help me sort this mess out. Thanks in advance.
I have two Apple IDs - one of those ids is tied to iTunes and is my primary account, as it is linked to the Itunes store, my Iphone and Ipad. It has 5gb of which 4 is used for backups, etc. Aside from all my Iphone stuff, the data of importance is my contacts db that includes all my iphone contacts.
The other Apple ID was issued by Apple when I started to use MobileMe. It has a me.com address.  When Apple moved to iCloud I got this account switched and also got 25gb of space that is good until Sept 2013. I have used about 2gb of space on that.  The only data of importance on it is the contacts, and this has a mix of some Iphone contacts as well as contacts I added as I was using one of the macs.
It seems that I did not grasp the limitations of Icloud and did not notice that my macs - MBP and MBA were and are storing my contact data using different accounts. Both contacts db's are full of duplicates as well as there are approx 200+ contacts that are in one or the other contact db, but not both.
So, I think I might merge the two into one contact db, then stop using the me.com acct.
To get to this state I would presume that I should export the contacts from both accounts, then open up one of them in the contact app of my choice, then import the second export, and then do the clean up.  Then I would upload the clean file back to my primary icloud acct.
By uploading a clean contact db that is corrected and duplicate free, how do I tell icloud to replace the db that is there with the one that I am uploading?
I have found nothing in tech articles, or discussions that suggest that the approach will work -- I am unsure that by uploading a clean contact db, I will not simply duplicate the names and addresses that are already there, along with adding the 200+ contacts that are not there.
Perhaps I delete the contact db from icloud - but again I see no information on that.

Then you should be able to just do the following:
On the Mac that is syncing contacts with the me.com iCloud account you are abandoning, open your contacts and export them as a vCard (File>Export>Export vCard).  Attach this to an email and send it to yourself.
Open the email on your other Mac and double-click on the attachment to import the contacts.  The contacts should be merged with the contacts already on this Mac, as well as to the iCloud account the Mac is syncing contacts with.
You can then clean up your duplicates by, for example, opening Address Book (Contacts) on your Mac, going to Card>Look for Duplicates, then merging any duplicates it finds.
You can then go to System Preferences>iCloud on the Mac that is syncing your me.com account, sign out of that account (which will delete any synced data), then sign into the iCloud account you are keeping and check the data you want to sync (which will sync the iCloud data to this Mac).

  • How do I delete and old iCloud acct

how do I delete and old iCloud acct from an iMac running OS X Mavericks 10.9.3.  I have established a new iCloud acct but in iCloud preferences it keeps asking for the password for the old acct which is inactive now and I can't access the new account.

  • When we purchased our mac two years ago, we set up the iCloud account.  this past winter I created a new iCloud account thinking I was changing it.  I now cannot access anything on the old iCloud acct and my computer hasn't been backed up either in awhile

when we purchased our mac two years ago, we set up the iCloud account.  this past winter I created a new iCloud account thinking I was changing it.  I now cannot access anything on the old iCloud acct and my computer hasn't been backed up either in awhile.  How do i go back to that old account and delete it so that I can continue backing up on the newest account?  I changed it because the original one I created an iCloud account with is a yahoo account email address and I am deleting my yahoo account for being compromised too may times.

Well, you can go to Manage your Apple ID and change the password if you can answer the Security Questions:
    Apple - My Apple ID
If you cannot remember the Security Questions you can contact iTunes Support to reset them for you:
New iTunes Support - US and ww
Once you get your password reset and you can access your account info on Manage your Apple ID, you can change your ID. You won't be able to use the same email address that you are using for the new ID unless you change that one to something else. But, if you can get back into your old ID and change it to a new email address, then you can go on using that old ID, and just manually move the iCloud stuff you added to your new ID back onto the old one. Most of the stuff (like Contacts, Calendar, Notes) can be added by logging onto https://www.icloud.com on your Mac and doing it that way (it is a lot simpler when you have an actual keyboard in my opinion)
Hope this helps you to sort out the two ID business. If you have any questions, please post back!
    Cheers,

  • HT203167 I made purchases on my icloud acct on my ex-girlfriends computer. She deleted me from the acct and now many of my purchases msde using my iPod Touch are no longer on her database. I also cannot find them on itunes on my own

I made purchases on my icloud acct which contained much music stored on my girlfriends computer. She also deleted me from the acct and reset it under her name and info. I now cannot retrieve or locate any purchases that I made using my ipodtouch. They also have been seemingly deleted from her computers database. How can recover these purchases?

    Download Past Purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
You will need to use the Apple ID that Originally made the purchases.

  • How to reset an iPad with a pre-existing Apple ID/iCloud acct?

We just bought a new (to us) iPad mini to use at our preschool in one of our classrooms.  The iPad mini came with a pre-existing account still loaded on it and will not let me set it up like the other 6 we already own (with our school's Apple ID/iCloud acct.  What can I do to get this setup other than trying to contact the previous owner (which we have and haven't received an answer)?
    Thanks in advance!

You can't reset the code. The only option you have is to restore the device as new.
