ICloud and multiple iTunes accounts

Not sure where I should ask this question but how will I be able to keep choices in music, apps and pictures separate on each device?  Right now, my wife has a separate iTuns account for her stuff I have a separate account for my stuff.  She has an iPhone 4 and an iPad2 and I have an iMac and an iPhone 4.  How do we keep things separate for our devices but still share music photos and apps?  I want us to be able to pick from the same music, pictures and apps but I am not sure how to do that and I cant really find a good clear/simple answer.  We do not have MobileMe accounts as were are rather new apple users.

I'd just sync stuff manually, so you can select what you each do and don't want on your respective devices. Apple invents all this whiz-bang-fantastic new stuff like iCloud that we're all supposed to love and use straight away to the exclusion of all else, but if they don't do what we want then what's the point of using them?
The old ways of syncing will still work just fine and - despite the fact that I don't want all the same things on both my iPhone and iPad - to be honest, I don't want all my music, photos and documents on one of Apple's servers somewhere anyway. That somehow feels like a real invasion of my privacy. So all the time I can continue to sync manually with a USB lead, I'll do so.
Just because Apple comes up with these new ideas doesn't mean that we all HAVE to use them!

  • Apple TV G2 and Multiple iTunes Accounts

In our household we have multiple iTunes accounts so that everybody can purchase and download their own content for the various computers and devices that we own.
In the old Apple TV each persons iTunes account could be setup to allow streaming from their computer ( while only one could be setup for syncing and purchasing )
In the new Apple TV it would appear that you can only setup Home Sharing to a single iTunes account and that there is no way to see the other iTunes accounts on our network.
Is there something I am missing here? How can we stream content from more then one iTunes account to the new Apple TV.

I too suffer from the same problem.
My wife, son, and I maintain separate iTunes accounts/libraries on our individual Macs. I just purchased the new 2nd Generation Apple TV to replace my 1st Generation one. We set up Shared Libraries on each of our Macs, which we were able to browse/play on our 1st Gen Apple TV. My wife's account was set up on the device for the purpose of renting/purchasing content.
Now with the 2nd Gen Apple TV I no longer see any option for associating Shared Libraries, or browsing anything other than a single iTunes library because of it's reliance on the Home Sharing feature. Also, I can't easily pair up my iPhones/iPod Touch/iPad copies of the Remote App unless they too are set up using Home Sharing on a single iTunes account. Sure, with the promise of AirPlay we may one day be able to stream video (we can do audio now) from all our Macs, but without the ability to browse all our libraries from one simple interface (like we could on the 1st Gen) the newest Apple TV has limited usefulness for our family.
I don't suppose someone out there might know of a hidden method to re-enable this feature, or if it might be released in a patch in the not-too-distant future. I'm going to give it a few days, but this device will likely find its way back to the Apple Store it came from (minus the re-stoking fee).

  • HT5649 Our family has a shared computer with itune software. We have multiple apple devices and multiple itunes accounts. Can we share the computer and iTunes software to back up each apple device separately?

How do multiple users with multiple devices share one computer with iTunes software to back up multiple devices and individual iTune libraries?

    Hi Goodguy147,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The easiest way to have multiple users with multiple devices share a single computer is to create a User Account on your Windows PC for each person.  Each person should also have a unique Apple ID.  That will keep each individual's iTunes Library separate from the others and each individual can associate and backup several devices to their iTunes library.

Follow the steps below to create a new user account in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    Choose Start > Control Panel.
Open "Add or remove user accounts." (If you're using the Classic view in Windows Vista, open "User Accounts," and then open "Manage another account.")
Select "Create a new account" and follow the instructions to set up the account.
Once you create the new account, choose     Start > Log Off.
Log in to the new user account.

  • 1 iPad and Multiple iTunes Accounts

We are wanting to impliment iPads in a dentist office.
The main dentist has an iPad that is registered to his [email protected] iTunes account. He wants to purchase multiple iPads and and the iOS App DDS GP ($399.99) to distribute to his staff.  We know that the App can be implement to mulitple iOS devises, but the Dentist doesn't want to purchase 2 copies of the App or let the staff has access to all the Apps he has purchase (i.e. Personal Password/Banking Apps).
Can He sign out of his [email protected] iTunes account on his personal iPad, and then sign in on [email protected] and purchase the app for himself and his staff? and then sign back into the Personal iTunes account and not loose the App when he re-syncs?

    Hey Jordan,
It may be best for the dentist to download and install the iPhone Configuration Utiltiy. It will allow him to purchase the business app and deploy it to the ipads in question. This does require an intermediate level of techincal knowledge; however. The iPhone Configuration Utility would allow the admin to setup a configuration profile which would restrict users to having acess to only certain things within the devices. In the case of a small shop like this, it would probably be best to purchase two copies if security is the main concern. After all, it will become a tax write-off at the end of the year. He could create a generic account in itunes for his employees to use. I would, then, suggest he setup Restrictions on the device which will restrict in-app purchases, youtube, etc.
It would be best to purchase an additional iPad for the employees. Signing in and out of one iPad will cause nasty and annoying issues, which will more than likely cause the dentist to continually have to call the help desk. It won't be a serious problem on the device, but it wil become a major issue to iTunes when synching.
    Restrictions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4213
As far as multiple accounts on one iPad:
You can have multiple. You can send a link (URL) to the person via email so that they can install the app. This will allow them to pay for the app under the secondary account. iTunes gift cards could be used of paypal, or even a CC specifically for these purchases. There again, I would use Restrictions to limit what can be purchased if using only one device...Tricky, but not impossible.

  • Apple TV and Multiple iTune accounts

I just got a new Apple TV and I was wondering if it is possible to sync two iTune accounts to it? Currently it looks like only one account can send movies to it. Please help.

set up home sharing on all devices using the same Apple ID. you could create a new Apple ID just for that purpose.
both iTunes can continue to use their individual Apple ID's.

  • IPhone and multiple iTunes accounts

I have two iTunes accounts.... I've downloaded almost all music with one account and of course I used the OTHER when I activated my iPhone. So now I can't transfer all... or frankly any of my music to my phone. I can't seem to figure out how to change the account on my phone. I'm willing to re-purchase the songs that I've bought on my phone as there are only about 5... but I'd like access to all of my other music...
basically... how do i change the iTunes account that is used on my iPhone?
    Thank you in advance!

You don't have to repurchase your music -- if you log in to your one account and then simply drag and drop the music you've purchased in your other account into the library and play one (or more) of the songs it will "authorize" you for that music.

  • ICloud and multiple mail accounts...

... is something of a mystery to me. I have 4 accounts added to the mail app on my iPhone 4 and the unified inbox is a real handy thing. Saves me time since I don't have to check the accounts individually. This is great. Or would've been if it wasn't for the fact that I nevertheless still have to check mails in at least a couple of places every time I recieve one. If I read the new mails in the inbox they get marked as 'Read' right? Well it turns out that they indeed are but they are still not read according to the iCloud inbox. I still have to check all the newly arrived mail there as well since otherwise they mail(s) still appears to be unread. The badge is still in place on the mail icon and in the mail app it still shows the so-called unread mails. Even if I've already read them in the unified inbox. So in other words, the iCloud service is instead of being that handy little thing, a rather annoying thing since it apparently can't keep up with what's read or not. So I wonder if there's something I don't grasp here, settings-wise or whatever it might be. Anyone else experiencing this trivial but nevertheless annoying problem? I see no point in having an unified inbox if I still have to read the same friggin' mails twice every single time.
Here's hoping for a nifty little solution to this. And without any trolling please. I'm interested in serious answers. If you can't contribute with a viable answer or suggestion then please refrain from posting a reply.

  • HELP!!  Updating to IOS 7 wiped out my iphone.  I do have an iCloud and an iTunes account, but the problem is that about 2K photos wouldn't back up to either the iCloud or iTunes without doing some updating.  So I did and now I am screwed.

The backups mentioned above only back up NEW photos I took and put them on my cloud.  My PC wouldn't recognize my phone without updating to IOS 7.  I did some chores and came back to my phone and I have an error message on my iPhone screen.  When I log into iTunes, it asks me to restore my phone, but I know that will wipe out the photos for good.  Is there any way to get these old pics off my phone before restoring?  Very special pics of my little boy on here.

I have multiple phones and iPads and all are linked to one iCloud account and one iTunes Account.  I want to keep the same iTunes Account so I can share music, etc., however, I want each device to have its own iCloud account.  Any help on how I can I do this?

You'll need to create an Apple ID for each device. Use the new Apple ID for FaceTime, iMessage and iCloud on the device. Use the original Apple ID for Settings>iTunes & App Store.

  • My old laptop crashed, and took my iTunes account with it.  I got a new laptop, and want to sync my iTouch to my new iTunes account.  It gives me an error message stating that I can't sync to multiple iTunes accounts, but I can't access my old one!  Help!

My old laptop crashed, and took my iTunes account with it.  I got a new laptop, and want to sync my iTouch to iTunes.  It gives me an error message stating that I can't sync to multiple iTunes accounts, but I can't access my old one!
How can I get my new iTunes account to allow me to Sync my iTouch?  The only option it gives me is to "transfer purchases" from my iTouch to iTunes, but that is only about 25% of my iTunes library-most of it is CDs I have uploaded.  How can I Sync without losing all my music from my iTouch???
Also, I have lectures and photos, etc. on my iTouch that I don't want to lose.
I've tried a few of the iPod copy programs-the free ones and the ones you have to pay for, but I can't find one that will work for ALL my content on an iTouch.
Right now, I can't get anything from my iTouch to iTunes, and I can't update my iTouch with my new iTunes purchases, so I'm stuck!  Help!

Also-I tried to use my backup hard drive, but I wasn't able to drag/transfer/send/move any of my muic files onto my iTouch when the iTouch was connected to my computer.  I can't figure out why it won't let me do that.
The only thing I can see when I open my iTouch on my computer is my file with photos.  I can't see videos, music, or anything else.  What's going on?

  • HT2534 Can you have multiple ITunes accounts under a single e-mail address (i.e. separate accounts for my children and myself?)?

Can you have multiple ITunes accounts assigned to a single e-mail address?  i.e. different Apple ID's for my kids and myself, but all assigned to my e-mail address.

No. Each account must have uniquie email address.

  • Totally confused with iCloud and multiple devices

Ok, So we have two each of the iPods, iPads and now iPhones.  Do we all share the same iCloud? Can we share apps through the cloud? How do I switch my iPad to the new one I got to give this one to my son. I am so new to all this apple stuff. Only been a few months and I'm still really confused.  What all goes to the iCloud? How do we see what's in the iCloud?  I really the the idiots instructions I think to figure this all out?  Can anyone help me?  How can I print from the iPad?  Everything I see says iOS 10 something?  I believe I only have 6 something?

Do we all share the same iCloud?
icloud is designed so that only one user uses it to keep his/her devices in sync.  When multiple users use the same icloud account, they will then be sharing the same email address, contacts, calendars, notes, etc.  Usually that is not what two people want to do.
Can we share apps through the cloud?
You buy apps from the itunes store, that's different than icloud, and multiple users can use the same itunes account so that they can share apps, music, etc.  For a family, everyone usually uses the same Apple ID for an itunes account and individual Apple IDs for their icloud accounts.
How do I switch my iPad to the new one I got to give this one to my son.
What do you mean by "switch.. ipad to the new one"?
What all goes to the iCloud?
Backups of iOS devices, Apple services that you turn on to share data (settings>icloud; on an iOS device), third party apps that use icloud to sync their data between devices, email, photo stream, and more.
How do we see what's in the iCloud?
Icloud is designed primarily for syncing data between the devices of the user - like getting all computers and devices to have the same contacts or calendars.  When you set up syncing (settings>icloud, turn on the services you want synced between your devices), some of that data will also be available to a computer's browser when you log into icloud.com.  Otherwise you view the data using the associated app, like the Calendar app to see events.  Other things that may be on icloud, like backups cannot be seen.  Also iCloud does not provide a photo gallary that others can view in a browser.
How can I print from the iPad?
For that you need an "airprint" compatible printer. See,
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
You can also print to a printer that's connected to a computer, but that computer needs special software, like Printopia for macs.
Everything I see says iOS 10 something?  I believe I only have 6 something?
There is no "10", version 6 is the current one.  You are probably thinking of OSX, whose versions are 10.x.y.  That's for macs, not iOS devices.

  • How can I share only the same music with multiple iTunes accounts

    Hello
I hope someone can help. [I am using Windows Vista (Unfortunately J) and iTunes 10]
I am trying to share the same music library with multiple iTunes accounts. Basically, I want to know if there is a way to automatically upload to other libraries when importing new music into my library, vice versa. [Better information below]
Me, my sister and my dad all use iTunes (on different iTunes accounts), and before now we used to have are own music on our own windows user. Due to many duplicates and a loss of hard drive space I have brought an external hard drive and organised all the music.
It was all going well - I first populated all the music onto my iTunes, exported the library, and then imported it on both the other users. However! Because this is only a copy of the library, when I try to import a new CD, it will not show up on there’s until I “Add File to Library”! Originally I thought about using the same library however we each have are own apps etc, that we don’t want to share.
If you need anymore information please ask!
    Matt

    Hello roaminggnome
Unfortunately the support is down at the moment, I will have a better look later. I did go though the Apple support previously, however I found nothing that worked.
The first thread I came across was “Home Sharing” however no mater what I did, it did not appear in the iTunes sharing list (I did go though the “Show Sharing Networks” support as well)
Secondly, I saw “Using A Single Library With Multiple Accounts On The Same PC” (Something like that) but all this did was let us share the same music location, if I was to rip extra music, it will not show in there library
