ICloud and Windows 8

I have a new computer running Windows 8 and using Outlook 2007. I have iCloud for updates on all my other devices and computers, but when I try to syn my Calendar to this new computer, I get an error message that reads "Setup can't continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. check Outlook setting & try again." I have read everything I can on this subject and talked to Apple, but nothing seems to work. Does iCloud not work with Windows 8? I have downloaded the lastest ICloud also.

Go to www.icloud.com (on your Mac) and login to your account (use the same ID and password as you use on the phone)

Many of us had the same problem. If you scroll thru the questions, you'll see your same question/problems dating back over a month ago when the new update first came out. The Apple Software Updater just showed blank, it didn't show the update. I patiently waited, knew it wasn't my computer since scores of us were having same problem not being able to do the update. Knew eventually Apple would fix it. Lo & behold when I signed on to my computer today a window popped up from Apple Software telling me updates were available & I clicked the "download" and it downloaded just great. I was able to sync my Ipod and Ipad to it just fine, etc. So probably if you can just wait...is your current ITunes working? If so, wait. Looks like there is a fix coming to all of us.(Note, that the "update" pop up window was different than the little window you've probably been seeing on your ITunes screen. This one didn't come up when I opened up ITunes. It popped up on my desktop. I have Win 7. Good Luck.

ICloud and Windows 8.1

I am using a desktop PC; was Windows 8 64 bit; upgraded this morning to Windows 8.1.
I am using Microsoft Office 2010; my contacts, tasks and calendars are in iCloud.
Now when I am in Outlook, it will not open contacts, calendar or tasks .. It tells me: The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened.
I tried re-installing iCloud and I get: There si a problem with this windows installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run.

Hi I have had the same problem BUT even thought I have repeatedly removed and reinstalled iCloud it is still not working using Office 365 I have it set up so iCloud (updates all my calendar and other facilities in Office) and up until I had the problem with the 8.1 update it worked fine BUT since I have now (with the help of Microsoft with a fix for removing and then reinstalling Office 365) while all the MIcrosoft programs like Word and Outlook are working OK I have not been able to get my other calendars and contact via Apple iCloud (it says "the set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened") and the iCloud icon that use to be on the top of the Outlook screen is not there - add to Evernote 4 is but not iCloud. I have removed iCLoud program and reinstalled it including closing down Outlook etc and rebooted the computer a number of times but no luck - any ideas please as it is very important I get my calendar and contact (People) back. Back to My Mac, iCloud and Windows 7

I just got my first personal Mac and set up a Time Capsule for my backups and storing some data. I turned on Back to My Mac in the manual setup because I want to be able to connect at work. The problem is I'm running Windows 7 at the office. I also found instructions for setting up DynDNS with the Time Capsule (which I went through) but it still doesn't seem to be working. I found other discussions about a VNC client but I'm only interested in getting the files from the Time Capsule. Am I mising a step somewhere?

Back to My Mac for iCloud and Back to My Mac for MobileMe are seperate services, and systems on one will not be able to connect to systems on the other.

I recently installed the windows 8.1 on my PC and now Outlook can't sync my iCloud calendar. The calendar works fine on my MacBook Pro and the iCloud app on my windows start page opens the iCloud calendar. It shows all appointments when I view the calendar in the ap but I use Outlook 365 for my business email and add appointments to the Outlook calendar. I see the iCloud calendar listed on the My Calendars panel, but now when I click on it I get the message: The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. It was working in the original Windows 8.

Do you mean that only the Exchange account in the desktop Mail app can’t sync?
Please take a look at the following article.

Exchange ActiveSync can be used to sync data for email, contacts, and calendar. The Windows 8 Mail app supports Exchange ActiveSync.
Please open the Windows Store app Calendar and People to check if they can normally sync.
Please try to remove the account in Mail app and sign in again and check if the issue still exists.

Is there a way to set an auto sync feature to icloud and windows contacts without using outlook or Windows live messenger just straight to windows contacts?

Need to sync icloud contacts to windows contacts without using outlook or windows live messenger on my pc, i have itunes and icloud fully set up on my pc and i have an ipad2. itunes setting for syncing to windows contacts is not working, nor will it sync to my gmail. I tried to get icloud to sync to my gmail, and thought that i could then sync my gmail to windows contacts, but icloud isn't syncing to gmail either. I configured it correctly, (or at least tried). I was able to copy the csv and all that, and do it manualy, but would like it to sync automatically. Please help.

You can actually get iCloud control panel to work on Windows XP with a little hack, that'll give you synced access to Contacts, Calenders, Reminders and Bookmarks. It also can be used to set up your me.com mail. Photostream doesn't work though.

The iCloud setup hack for Windows XP:
Download iCloud Control Panel for Windows.
Open iCloudSetup.exe file with WinRar or 7-Zip and extract.
Navigate to and open the iCloud.msi or iCloud64.msi (for 64bit systems) with Orca.
In the left table select LaunchCondition. Then change in the right table “VersionNT> = 600” to “VersionNT> = 200” and Save.
Run modified iCloud.msi and install.
Run iCloud Control Panel, located in the Windows Control Panel, and set up as you want.

i upgraded to win 8.1 pro and icloud no longer working. I tried to uninstall and reinstall; but still get that "unexpected error" message... any thoughts?

By the way - the only reason I downloaded iCloud is because Apple deleted the backup option from iTunes. Since iCloud doesn't work, I guess we have no way to protect our iTunes music collection. Absolutely stupid.

Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

I run Windows 7 and the newest version (10.6) of iTunes will not install. The installer won't even begin, and when I run the Apple Software update, it tells me that iCloud and iTunes have invalid signature.

When I DL iTunes64setup.exe, the program will not start (there's a bar that flashes but nothing actually begins). Ok, so after like 4 days of going through all these different issues, I figured out that several programs weren't downloading, and it was an issue with my wireless connectivity messing up the digital signatures, so if you plug in your comp to the modem and delete your temp files, it should start to work!

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I have a problem setting up the sync with iCloud and Outlook 2013 64bit on my new Windows 8.1 Thinkpad.
On my old Wind 7 PC and the same software (Office 2013 64bit) I get it worked, but not on the new one.
Installing is everything fine but the it says "Die Konfiguration kann nicht fortgesetzt werden, da Outlook ohne Standardprofil eingerichtet wurde..." Translatet it means something like "Setup can not continue becuase outlook isnt configured to have a defualt profile".

Have you checked to see if you have a default profile designated for Outlook? You can set it as described at the bottom of this article: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/turn-on-or-off-profile-prompt-HA1 02749211.aspx.

Icloud sync only works between mac pro and windows outlook, not with iphone and ipad anymore

Can anyone help me with my problem?
I do have icloud installed on my MacBookPro, on my Windows Outlook computer, on my iPad 2 and on the iPhone 4S.
Now until yesterday everything synchronized perfectly well.
Then I created some groups on my MacBookPro address book and since then (I believe that was when it started) icloud no longer synchs from and to the ipad and the iphone. It still works between the Mac and Windows Outlook.
On the iPad/iPhone I have tried everything but it still won't do. I have even reset the whole iPad and obviously lost all data and tried again. I all sometimes get is a few contacts back into the address book on the ipad. But only a limited number, not all.
Also, to delete the icloud account on the ipad/iphone is sometimes not possible. It just hangs and I can see the message "Deleting..." for ever.
Anyone an idea?

One more comment. Wired connection seem to be stable neither. I have ping running to the Windows computer and after a couple of minutes, it gets broken.
However if I have both WiFi and cable connection to the home router and disconnect from cable (after ping is broken), I get the network to the Windows comptuer back. Nothing serious on the network change, I just get 192.168.1.x instead of 192.168.1.y as IP).
During this network switch I do nothing with the Windows computer.
This is not valid if I want to connect to the Windows computer via Microsoft sharing (smb://192.168.1.x), then it immediately breaks the connection. Can't get it back until Windows is restarted.
Getting lost...
