ICloud Backup not Restoring!

I got a new iPhone 6 and am trying to restore it with a backup of my iPhone 5S (iOS8) but every time I try it, it gets about a quarter of the way and fails with an error regarding losing internet connection. I have tried 3 different networks, including a fast one but this just caused the error to come up sooner, it gets to the same position on the status bar every time. I have even tried putting the phones mac address on the highest priority on my modems QoS list, kept tapping the screen to keep it awake and kept it connected to power. I really need to be able to restore this phone, has anyone else had this issue? How do you resolve such an issue?
Thanks, Ajay

just because it's from the store and you got it today, doesn't mean it's up-to-date. It takes a while for iPhone to ship from China to the store where you purchased it and there has been an update about two weeks ago.
I'd recommend connecting the iPhone to iTunes on a computer and see if it prompts you to update

  • Icloud backup and restore

Hello, my iMessage randomly took up 1 GB in my storage and I was searching how to fix it and they said to go on iCloud and turn on iCloud backup and restore your device and I was thinking will it save your process on apps when they re-install?

What do you mean by saving process on apps? Do you mean progress in games? If that is what you mean, then yes, backing up should save game progress.

  • HT1766 Can an iCloud backup not belong to you but appear on the list of backups you can choose to restore from?

Recently I removed my SIM from my 4S and after some time I realized that the Viber messages along with some other content was gone. Someone told me that this was a security mechanism. I tried to restore the missing content by completely resetting my iPhone and restoring from an earlier iCloud backup. Now, here comes the weird part, the backups listed were indeed from my device but the Apple ID that the phone asked me to confirm in order to proceed with the media restore wasn’t mine. How can this be? Does this mean that iCloud was compromised and someone got access to my account? What’s the implications of this? Are iCloud backups encrypted, or do I have to change every single password and authenticator access that was on my phone? Anyone encountered the same issue?

Cancel this question.  I went into my pictures and there they were. Uhhhh DUH!!!
Gotta love iCloud!!!  Thanks guys for putting up with my silly question!  At least I gave some of you a good laugh.  Have a great day and thanks for letting me play awhile in here!!!

  • I purchased an iPhone 3 and had photos on it. Started having issues within 30 days and could replace it. Moved photos to back up on iCloud. did not restore new phone from back up how can i save the new photos and retrieve the old ones?

I purchased an iPhone 3 and had taken some photos on it. I started having issues within 30 days and could replace it. So I created an iCloud account and  saved those photos as a back up on iCloud. I did not restore my new phone from back up because I did not realize I needed to restore and not just activitate it. How can I save the new photos, apps, and other stuff but retrieve the old photos?

If all you want is your old photos, you could backup your new phone using iTunes, then restore it from your iCloud backup, import the old photos to your computer, then restore it from the backup your made in iTunes returning your newer data to your phone.  If you want your old photos on your phone, sync them there from your computer using iTunes.  The process would look like this:
Connect your phone to your computer, when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases; right-click again and select Backup.
Disconnect from your computer and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings to return it to new
Go through the activation setup, choosing to Restore from iCloud backup.  Make sure your phone is plugged into a charger and has access to wi-fi as this can take hours to complete.
When complete, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences.  On the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Now import the old photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083)
When done, open iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Restore from Backup, choose the backup you made in step 1.
Go to the Photos tab and select the photos you want to sync to your phone and sync.

  • ICloud backup not working - option greyed out

My iPad air happily used to backup overnight via wifi when I would leave it charging.
However this stopped happening a couple of months ago, without any intervention from me...
Now the 'icloud backup' option in Settings/iCloud/Backup is set to off, but is greyed out i.e. I can't turn it back on again
I seemingly have plenty of space as have upgraded to 20Gb of storage, partially in the hope it would sort this problem out.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks

    OK.
So i guess there was no other way to solve this problem.
Anyway I have restored the device yesterday, its succeed

  • Recovery Manger backup not restoring user documents only public

I had a problem after a Windows Update on 14/02/15 - my laptop refuse to reboot, instead it sat with "Restarting Windows" for about 8 hours before I resorted to power down and restart.
It got worse from then on in...the laptop then refused to boot, kept going to to the Recovery Manager, but every option resultedin returning to the same page. Tried to use MS System Restore from within recovery manager bu it told me there were no system restore points.
I tried everything, but always vame back to Recovery has encountered an error, or no changes can be made, and still couldn't boot. So I used the Reset my files option and created a backup data set to a USB drive.
The reset option didn't work either - it only got me as far as the Windows logon screen and only listed administrator as a user, not my normal user accont.
Clicking on the administrator account and entering a password or even no password resulted in the message your administrator account has been disabled contact system admin.
I googled account recovery info, tried to enable the admin account using cmd but still no good - So I did I full recovery fresh install and proceeded to install all HP and Windows updates (except the 14/02/15 one)
I created my user accont using my MS credentials as before, then once everything was setup proceeded to use the Restore file from the USB backup. I had expected the backup to restore the items to their original locations, however this wasn't the case they are restored to new folder, but still in a directory tree so not too bad.
I was then horrified to find that whilst the backup file list showed all of the documents, images etc in my user account the files that are restored do not include the documents and images from my user account, only the public documents.
In the found file list of the backup, it lists my user account folder as found.000\my documents etc. when you explore the individual swm backup files - within them are the original files, unnamed and no file extensions so restoring them and adding file extensions manually for over 10,000 documents would be a nightmare.
Has anyone experienced the same issue - all I wanted was my document files to be restored and thought that using the Recovery Manager software to create what it told me was a successful backup would have achieved this. Especially as the found file list shows the docs I need.
So in a nutshell I have an apparently successful backup archive, that doesn't want to restore named user account documents...any ideas would be appreciated.

  • ICloud backup not working

I ran the backup last night...it still shows that the latest backup was in December 2012.  I have enough storage left.  Any ideas?

If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test:   Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup.  If that doesn't work, then this post will not help.  If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup.  If successful, keep repeating these steps.  If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail.  (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

  • HT4859 icloud backup not working

I just got a 4S and have backed up my iPhone 4 today prior to swapping the Sim.
When I go to restore via icloud on the 4S it initially only brought up a back up from January and now says it cannot find any backup's?
    Any ideas?

This may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your phone that is preventing the backup.  To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.
If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

  • IPhone iCloud Backup not working anymore

Since April 9, 2012 my iPhone does not backup to iCloud anymore (not automatically nor manually). When I click "Backup Now", it just says "Backing Up... Estimating time remaining..." and it stays like that forever. The progress bar does not move at all. I have plenty of space left for backup, so that should not be the problem. Anybody having the same problem? Any solutions/suggestions you may have are welcome. Thanks!

After connecting to iTunes, I noticed that "Back up to iCloud" was selected (in the middle of the screen on the "Summary" tab, under "Backup"), and "Last backed up to iCloud" reflected the time that I attempted to back up from my phone. Even now, the phone still says "Last Backup: Never," so there is clearly a disconnect. Hopefully Apple will fix this soon.

  • Removing icloud backup and restoring backup to ipad

My dad has an ipad air.  He has been using icloud backup.  For some reason he has decided that he doesn't want to use the icloud backup, but of course he doesn't know how to get out of it or how to just use a backup from his computer.  He has asked me to help him, lucky me, I have to ask everyone for help.
I believe he can manually back-up to his computer from his ipad using itunes.  First of all, does that in fact back up everything from his ipad?
If I understand correctly, if he deletes the icloud backup, then everything that icloud has backed up is also deleted from his ipad?  Is that correct?
If so how should he proceed:  Should he first make sure he has a correct backup of his ipad through itunes to his computer, assuming that this backup automatically backs up everything.  Then, does he delete everything that icloud has backed up on his ipad under "managing storage".  If he turns off Photos and Documents and Data under the icloud account then a message comes up saying that all documents and data stored in icloud will be deleted from this ipad.  So, he wants to be sure that if he restores through itunes that everything gets put back on his ipad.
This is confusing to me.  I just want to be sure that he doesn't end up losing anything in the process.
Any easy procedures to help me do this for him without causing headaches or loss of data would be appreciated.  I have tried searching on help topics and ipad and itunes help, but it gets rather overwhelming.  I know I can just turn off icloud backups so that it doesn't do that anymore, the problem is that my dad doesn't want the stuff in icloud that is already there to stay there.
    Thanks.

Are you sure it's done restoring?  Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup and scroll to the very bottom.  It will say Restoring iPhone if it isn't finished.

  • ICloud backup not finishing?

    iphone 6.
Restoring icloud backup and although everything has been restored it says still restoring?
    Any idea why?!
what can I do to fix?

I had the same exact problem. I found the solution!! Apparently if you have "Find My iPhone" on in the settings, the restoring from iCloud back-up stays on the lock screen. Mine was on the lock screen for 12 hours before figuring out a solution. I turned "Find My iPhone" off and this solved the problem!! I was then able to do a back-up to iCloud!
    Hope this helps.

  • Icloud backup not working..despite "plugged in with WiFi and screen locked...

iphone 4 with iOS7. Despite being plugged in and on WiFi and "locked" it's up to seven weeks now that I keep getting message that it hasn't been backed up. Is there some special "lock" that I don't get? Didn't the old lock switch on upper left change at some time. Do I have to use this?
    Thanks

Maybe you don't have your settings set up correctly. For more information on the topic, I've provided a link that might help you out.

  • TS4036 iCloud backup not showing up for my iPhone

Before replacing my iPhone, I backed it up to iCloud.  Upon setting up my new iPhone, the backup I created is no longer visible.  It shows my wife's iPhone, my kid's iPods and our iPad, but not my iPhone.  Where is it?

I should be more clear about what took place.  My wife and I wanted to switch phones (simply for aesthetic purposes -- one black phone and one white).  I made backups of both phones to iCloud.  I looked at the backups that were on iCloud to insure that her back and mine were both there.  They were.  I restored the phone for her first (using the phone that was previously mine), selecting her iPhone's backup during the restore process.
I then went to restore the phone for me (which had been her phone), but now my backup no longer showed up.  It only shows me her phones latest backups -- as well as the iPods and iPad.
Is it because I'm using her former phone that it only shows me her backups?  Why would it show the iPad and iPods then?
The last backup I have on a computer (iTunes) is from January, so that's pretty much useless.
As of right now, I feel all I can do is set it up as a new phone . . . but that's pretty discouraging.  I would appreciate any advice.
