ICloud backup problem

So the issue started with my previous phone, the 4S. It stopped backing up to iCloud, even though there were plenty of times when my phone was plugged in, connected to WiFi and the screen was locked. I couldn't figure out the issue and just backed up to my computer instead. Now that I've upgraded to the 6, I'm still having the same issue. I still get the stupid pop-up that says it hasn't been backed up to iCloud and tells me that it occurs when the phone is plugged in, screen locked and connected to WiFi. It's really starting to annoy me. I've tried doing the back up now option through my phone's iCloud settings and through my computer. Neither option works. Has anyone else come across this issue and been able to resolve it????

I have same problem. Regarding iCloud...all I understand so far is that it is used for backups and synching new purchases to other iOS devices/Macs. I would be more interested in being able to pick from a central list of my apps, music, books and pull them down when I want....does iCloud allow this? I don't see it in this interface?

How do I re-instate iCloud backups? Last automatic back up was right before I left for Japan in June. Has not backed up since. Have followed instructions on-line with no fix.

  • ICloud backup problems

Ever since I downloaded the new iOS software I noticed my phone hadn't been backing up to iCloud. Last time it backed up was October 2nd. I have been doing the same thing I've done ever since I got a iCloud account. I keep the phone locked, plugged in, and connected to wi-fi.
I don't know what could be wrong.

    Hi DuhRealBlondie,
If you are having issues with the automatic iCloud backups, you may want to see if it will back up manually. You may find the following article helpful:
You can also back up manually whenever your device is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing Back Up Now from Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

  • TS3992 iCloud backup problem

when i try to do back with iCloud it always says The last backup could not be completed. Please help me with this issue

Backup not successful:  I had the same problem.
The solution was to turn off some apps (Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device in the Backups section, then look under Backup options) and try a manual backup.  If it didn't work, turn off a few more apps and try a backup.  Keep doing that until the backup works.  Then try adding in some of the last batch of apps that were previously turned off - the objective is to find the app that causes the backup to fail.  For me, I suspect that the one app I found had a bad data file that, when included in the backup, caused the backup to quit.
This can be a long process if you have a lot of apps that you originally turned on for backups.

A reset should help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons and await restart.

  • Wi-fi and iCloud backup problem since ios8.1.1 update

I Have an iPhone 4s and after updating to the latest software, I'm having many challenges connecting to my home wifi network on a consistent basis.  It comes and goes.  Since the software update my phone has not backed up overnight like it used to.  I've reset my network settings on the phone multiple times, but no luck.  I've also rebooted the router as well.  Any advice would be appreciated!  thank you.

  • ICloud backup failed on my iPhone 4. Is the way can solve the problem?

    Troubleshooting specific alert messages
Note: If you have trouble remembering the text of any messages you receive, you might want to take a screenshot on your iOS device. You can take a screenshot in iOS by simultaneously pressing the Home and Lock buttons. The screenshot will then be saved to your Camera Roll or Photos collection.
    Backup Alert Message
    Explanation / Resolution
"A Wi-Fi connection is required to download your apps and media."
iCloud Backup requires a Wi-Fi connection to restore from an iCloud backup. In this case, the attempted restore has not completed, and the iOS device is not connected to a Wi-Fi network. Make sure your iOS device is connected to a Wi-Fi network and is able to successfully connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi.
"Your iPhone could not be restored because you are no longer connected to the Internet"
Your Internet connection to icloud.com became inactive while you were downloading files for a restore. You should try the restore again from a more reliable network. Make sure your iOS device is able to successfully connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi.
"This iPhone is currently being restored and will automatically back up when it is done."
This message is displayed to indicate that backups cannot occur while a background restore is still occurring. You should allow the restore to complete and then trying backing up later.
"Restore Incomplete - Some items could not be downloaded from the Store. If they are on your computer, you can restore them by syncing with iTunes."
Some data was not restored, for instance, apps that were removed from the App Store for legal reasons. Wait a few minutes and then attempt the restore again while connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network. If the data that was not restored also exists in your iTunes library, you can sync it back to your iOS device via USB cable sync as a work around.
"Some items could not be restored from the iCloud backup."
Some data such as Camera Roll photos, videos, and app data was not successfully restored from the backup. Wait a few minutes and then attempt the restore again while connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
"Download Remaining Purchases? Not all purchased apps and media have been downloaded. Would you like to download these purchases, or delete them along with any app data?"
A Backup Restore appears to have been canceled by the iCloud user who initiated it. If this is not the case and you did not cancel the restore, you should restart the restore.
"If you restore this iPhone from an iPad backup, settings and iPad-only apps will not be restored."
This occurs when restoring an iPhone or iPad touch from an iPad backup. Only purchased apps (including their data) and books will restore.
"If you restore this iPad from an iPhone backup, settings will not be restored."
This occurs when restoring an iPad from an iPhone backup. Only purchased apps (including their data) and books will be restored.
"iCloud Backup is unable to access the account '[email protected]'. Review your account information in Settings."
iCloud is unable to authenticate the password for the iCloud account you entered in iCloud Settings ([email protected] is just used as an example here). This most commonly happens if you reset your iCloud password but have not yet done so in iCloud Settings on your iOS Device. This can also occur if authentication is not successful for other reasons, such as being unable to connect to the iCloud authentication servers.
"Your iPhone cannot be restored because another device is backing up. Try again later."
If you try to restore a device from the backup of another device, but the first device is currently backing up, you will see this alert. To resolve this, either wait for the first device to complete backing up, or cancel the backup on the first device and try the restore again on the second device.
"iCloud Backup requires that you verify your password."
t is necessary to enter your password to allow restoring of or adding to existing encrypted backups. Enter your password when prompted to resolve this issue.
"Any data that has not been downloaded will not be restored or backed up in the future."
This message is provided if you decide to cancel a background restore. If you proceed you will need to restore again to get all your data on your device, or redownload your music, apps, and other data some other way. The best way to avoid this is to not cancel a background restore. If you do cancel a restore, make sure you have copies of the data that was not restored.
    "No backups available."
The account logged in to iCloud Settings has no backups online. This can occur if you have no backups, or if you have multiple accounts and you are using the wrong account in iCloud. You should verify your account in Settings > iCloud and then try again.
"Your iPhone cannot be restored because of a server error."
This occurs when a server issue caused the restore to not complete. This type of alert is rare and would usually occur due to a server-side time out. If you wait several minutes and try again you may be able to restore. If the issue persists, contact iCloud Support for assistance.
"There was a problem loading your iCloud Backups. Try again, set up as a new iPhone, or restore from an iTunes backup."
The Backup status check for your account did not complete. This could be due to a network timeout or other reasons. If you receive this alert, the easiest resolution is to simply wait a few minutes, verify you are able to connect to the Internet, and then attempt to restore again. If you continue to receive this alert, you should make sure your iOS device is able to successfully connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi.
"Your iPhone cannot be restored because there is a problem with your backup data. Choose a different backup to restore from."
Your Backup does not appear to be usable. If you receive this alert, wait several minutes and try again. If issues persists, contact iCloud Support for assistance.
    General troubleshooting
If your restore completed but it seems like you are missing information:
Make sure you have an active and reliable Wi-Fi connection during the restore.
Verify that the data you are looking for is actually backed up to iCloud as part of the Backup feature. See this article for more information on what is backed up with iCloud Backup.
Some additional actions may need to be taken after a restore in order to completely restore your data:
Re-enter passwords for some apps such as iTunes Store, Game Center, and third party apps.
Use iTunes Match (U.S. only) to download songs, albums or playlists to your device.
If iCloud Backup is still restoring actively, it's a good idea to let it finish what it started. However, if you continually receive unresolvable alerts, you may restart the device.
If issues persists, contact iCloud Support for additional assistance.

    Hi,
I'm receiving the information that "No backups available.", but if i log in my icloud I find the backup.
    What can I do?

  • HT204053 i get a message saying that iCloud backup is unable to access my account on my iPad2, but on my windows computer i can sign in no problem. please tell me what i can do, because it froze my iPad.

i had purchased a game for my kid, and after he played for a while, there was a message that popped up saying that iCloud backup can not access my account and it has 2 buttons on it, one says ignore, the other says settings, but none of them does anything when i touch them and my iPad is frozen i can not do anything on it. the message says to review my account info in settings, but it won't let me get into settings or restart the iPad, it doesn't even let me slide to unlock my iPad. please tell me what i can do to slove this problem. thank u!

    Hi there
I had the same problem and I found this answer to a similar question to ours, so I copied and pasted it for you
Reset the device by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time for approximately 10 seconds.  After it resets the message will be gone and you can go to settings > icloud and put in your password.
That seems to be a bug with the password alert where it won't respond correctly sometimes.
    Hope this helps

  • "There was a problem enabling iCloud Backup"

I currently have an iPad 2, and my husband has an iPod Touch (not sure of the generation - its about a year old). As of tomorrow, we'll both have iPhone 4S's.    We both use my iTuned account for purchasing apps and music. I've finally got iOS 5 up and running on my iPad, with iCloud linked to my iTunes account.  I've got my husband's iPod Touch updated with iOS 5. I set it up with his old iTunes account, and put my iTunes account into the 'Store' part of the settings, as the 'Apple IDs and iCloud' document suggested to do. But when I try to set his iPod Touch to backup to iCloud, I get the following error: "iCloud Backup Failed. There was a problem enabling iCloud Backup."
Any suggestions?  Am I misunderstanding how I'm supposed to be doing this?  It's not a huge deal with the iPod Touch, but I want to get this figured out before tomorrow, so that I can set it up so that my iPad and iPhone both sync to one iCloud account, and his iPod Touch and iPhone sync to a different one.

@uzagaku yes this works, and that's the only way to re-enable iCloud backup actually. No need to disable encryption, that's only for further local backups. But thanks for pointing out to that iCloud setting in iCloud .. I should have looked there immediately, obviously. As soon as it's activated there, the setting syncs on iOS. Remains that enabling iCloud backup from iOS should of course be possible, so there's still a huge bug there.
