ICloud backup says never

when i go to back up, it thinks it's backing up and starts by giving me an estimating time remaining, but after a few minutes, it stops and says," the last backup could not be completed. Last backup: never"
how long should a back up take?
and what am I not doing right?

This may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your phone that is preventing the backup.  To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.
If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

I haver received this message from the cloud but I am unable to get rid of it to power down the ipad and back it up.

This issue is because you haven't backed up to iCloud in a long time. Do what @pvonk and @mende1 said and than go to settings icloud storage and backup and press back up now

  • Mail taking up 5MB for iCloud Backup - Why?

Why does my iCloud backup say I have 5MB of Mail on my iPhone to backup when I do not use iCloud Mail, I use Hotmail...Never have used iCloud email.    Trying to backup my phone to the iCloud for the first time.   Is there a way to turn off backing up mail?  At this point I need 3.4GB more of storage to backup.   Really?  I could careless if email is not backed up - Hotmail is web based that I can access anytime.

  • Cannot find ICloud backup

I accidentally erased one of my notes on my iphone 4S. The Icloud backup says that one was done at 1:30 am but when I go into Icloud the last notes was 17 days ago. What happend to the back up from 1:30 AM this morning.

    That depends.
Firstly, it won't help if the notes aren't in the back up, you would need to be sure they are.
Secondly, it's not clear that notes are included in back ups, some seem to think that the data sets for contacts, calendars etc are not backed up, there is however evidence to suggest that some (if not all) are. The uncertainty is brought about because restoring any data that is used by iCloud is likely to immediately erased again because the timestamp on the data set in iCloud is newer than that in the back up.
I have seen users be able to restore contacts by following the method below, whether you can modify this procedure to work for notes I wouldn't know.
If you do decide to try, perhaps you could let us know the outcome.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).

  • I cant use my IPad because iCloud Backup

I cannot Use my Pad because iCloud Backup says there was no backup since 2 weeks. When i say ok to this message my iPad loggs off. What can  do to use my Pad further more? Is there perhaps a person who speaks german?

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • When I check my iCloud backup it says it has never backed up and when I try to back manually it gives a message of " estimating back up time" and doesn't back up even after having left it for many hours?

When I check my iCloud backup it says it has never backed up and when I try to back manually it gives a message of " estimating back up time" and doesn't back up even after having left it for many hours?

Yes I have tried that last weekend ad this weekend. I have tried wi fi at different times of the day too; in case it is speed issue. I have tried selecting only backing up limited content and not every thing per what other users suggest.
It's maybe either the router is lousy or there is something wrong with my software or hardware.
    Appreciate your thoughts
    Thanks!!

  • I've deleted all my pictures, videos, AND disabled iCloud backup. Why does it still say my iCloud storage is almost full?

My iPhone 4s says that I only have 44.5 MB of my 5 GB left on iCloud. To fix this, it said to delete some data (which I did, 206 photos and 11 videos to be exact), and it still says I only have 44.5 MB left. I disabled iCloud backup, made all my backups straight to my computer and synced my phone at least 10 times but nothing's changed. Help? I really don't want to buy more storage in order for my phone to say I'm runnung out of it again. I also have an iPad but I haven't added anything to it for 4 months. I only have 10 pictures and 10 apps because I hardly ever use it.

i had purchased a game for my kid, and after he played for a while, there was a message that popped up saying that iCloud backup can not access my account and it has 2 buttons on it, one says ignore, the other says settings, but none of them does anything when i touch them and my iPad is frozen i can not do anything on it. the message says to review my account info in settings, but it won't let me get into settings or restart the iPad, it doesn't even let me slide to unlock my iPad. please tell me what i can do to slove this problem. thank u!

    Hi there
I had the same problem and I found this answer to a similar question to ours, so I copied and pasted it for you
Reset the device by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time for approximately 10 seconds.  After it resets the message will be gone and you can go to settings > icloud and put in your password.
That seems to be a bug with the password alert where it won't respond correctly sometimes.
    Hope this helps

    The message says:
    Icloud backup
This ipad hasn't been backed up in two weeks.  Backups happen when this ipad is plugged in, locked, and connected to wi-fi.
It won't close when I click ok in the message box.
How do I get past this message and into my ipad?

A reset should help: Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons and await restart.
No content will be affected by this procedure.
