ICloud backup settings changed without me knowing-help!

Every couple of weeks I get a message that says my icloud storage is full.  When I go into my settings to check it out, there are a ton of apps chosen to be backed up.  SO, I uncheck them, delete the backup and back it up again, storage is completely fine.  This has been going on for a while now.  What in world could be changing my settings without me knowing?

That shouldn't be happening.  I would suggest you delete the account and sign back in.  First save you photo stream photos to your camera roll so you don't lose them, then go to Setttings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Delete from My iPhone and provide the password when prompted.  Then after  minute or so, sign back in.  (This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your phone, but not from iCloud.  Your data will reappear on your phone when you sign back in.)

  • There was a problem enabling icloud backup (settings crashes)

I have an iPhone 4S with IOS 7.1.2 and i've been able to backup my phone prior to updating to IOS8.
After installing IOS 8 my phone became really slow and unusable and I went back to iTunes and did a full restore.
I've been able to get everything working again except the iCloud backup.
It was enabled after a fresh install but never actually backed anything up:
"there was a problem with icloud backup" and a daily backup is never performed.
    The phone is fully charged
    Connected to wifi
Whenever I try to backup manually it also fails.
I tried to disable icloud backup and enable it again but that didn't work either as now SETTINGS crashes everytime I enable the icloud backup setting.
    any suggestions?

Make sure to change your backup selection in iTunes to icloud...you can't backup your phone to icloud unless iTunes is set to icloud.

  • Ipad Air restore off Icloud backup. How do I know if my apps are taking too long in the "waitting" part of the reboot?

For some reason my Ipad Air decided it wanted to create used space on it's hard-drive today. It suddenly went from using 7GB to 11.5 GB. I couldn't find the solution so I decided to restore my Ipad from a backup last Thursday. Now all my apps appear but it is taking forever to download them, it wont change from waiting to downloading?
    Suggestions?
My main question is, how long does it take in each process till backup is 100% Complete its downloading around 7GB of storage, when will my apps stop "waiting"

Your camera roll photos - those that you take with the iPad or save from emails and websites - are in your backup.
If you use iCloud for backups, restore from your iCloud backup after you restore the iPad. If you restore with iTunes, restore from that backup after you restore the iPad. You can read more here.

But the bottom line is that if you have never backed up, there is no way to save the photos now.

  • Mail taking up too much iCloud backup space; deleting emails doesn't help

My iCloud backup said yesterday that over 500 MB was being used by the Mail portion of the backup. So I went into iCloud.com, deleted all of the mail in my Sent Mail folder, then emptied the trash entirely. When I did that, it got worse; it said that 1.2 GB of the iCloud backup was taken up by the Mail backup. That doesn't make any sense. That is actually the opposite of what was supposed to happen.
Today, it is back to saying that Mail takes up 609.4 MB of space in the backup, but there is next-to-nothing in any of my iCloud email folders, and nothing with any attachments.
    What is going on?
There does not appear to be a way for me to delete the "Mail" portion of the iCloud backup. And there are almost no emails left in any of my iCloud email folders, even the Archive, Sent and Trash. How do I free up this space?

I did some quick calculating. It says:
    Total Storage 5.0 GB
    Available 4.2 GB
    5000 MB
    - 111.6 MB (the space taken up by the iPad backup)
    - 38.7 MB (the space taken up by the iPhone backup)
    - 3.8 MB (the space taken up by documents backups)
    = 4845.9 MB
    4845.9 MB
    - 4200 MB (the storage space that it says I have left)
    = 645.9 MB
So, 645.9 MB is curiously close in size to the 609.4 MB it says for Mail. So either it IS backing up the Mail to the iCloud, or else something else (or several somethings) that is similar in size is taking up that space, but is not accounted for in the list of things that are using my iCloud storage space.
So what are my options? I can try the buffering thing you mention, check back again on Monday and see if it is still showing a mysterious disappearance of 600-650 MB of storage space.

  • HT1414 My Ipad  version 6.0.1 is frozen on icloud backup, wont change when plugged in, so cant lock it while connected to wifi to backup

How do I unfreeze my screen from the icloud backup box?

Reboot the iPad and see if that gets you out of this predicament.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • I have accidentally deleted the proloquotogo app with all it's data. It was on my iCloud backup list so can I know restore all the settings for this app from a previous iCloud backup? I now only have the basic pages instead of all the programmed pages.

I have accidentally deleted my proloquotogo app with all it's programmed data. Is it possible to restore from iCloud as it was listed in managing storage. Where does this backup go to? I have reinstalled the app but I only have the basic pages. Help please. Thanks

Essentially it would mean another Internet connection yes, however it's your local network that I am wondering about and whether it could be the problem.

  • Mail settings changing without user input

I have several Mail accounts set up in the following manner (let's please ignore the fact that have far to many accounts, I have collected them as family members came onto the net and in teh process of setting their ISPs up made accounts for myself):
    Several gmail accounts........ working properly
a .mac account in IMAP....... working properly
POP accounts with ISP(a) using APOP auth. working properly
POP accounts with ISP(b) using password auth.. working properly
POP accounts with ISP(c) using password auth.. working properly until the settings somehow change to APOP auth on their own
Edit: SSL is only enabled on the gmail accounts
Things will be working properly for accounts with ISP(c) and then randomly the advanced settings will change themselves from Password authentication to APOP authentication. At which point the accounts will register offline and, upon setting them to go online, will fail to change status without generating an error.
The only way to return to normal operation is to reset the authentication method to Password at which point any messages still on the server(auto-deleted after 1 week) are re-downloaded resulting in duplicate messages in my inbox.
In case it was some kind of syncing problem of my account settings with .mac I reset the .mac sync and refreshed the backup while everything was working properly.
Outside that my only solution has been to reset to Password authentication and go through the process of deleting a weeks worth of duplicate emails. This is seriously annoying and never happened under OS X Tiger. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've done both. I only have one mac and I have completely removed the profile from .mac and loaded a new one. Still, randomly changes from 'password' authentications to 'APOP' authentication.
I have checked the keychain as well, not a single duplicate entry(I routinely delete some of the 'oops saved the wrong password' entires just to keep things clean).

  • My settings changed without notice and without my intervention. Yahoo is my homepage but I can't make it my homepage again. I get Google instead. Also, my bookmarks are messed up and the toolbar has disappeared and I can't recover it.

I think that is enough detail.

  • ICloud Backup Growing

So I've been digging around but have yet to find an answer so I guess I'll just post my question.  My iCloud, like a lot of people's, is full.  I have turned off all the individual app data including the camera roll, but my backup size continues to grow by about 100 mb a week.  I tried deleting text messages that included videos but the future backup size has not been effected.  I tried deleting my history and safari cache, but no change.  I don't have any voice memos or use the icloud mail.  Any thoughts on what is causing it to grow?  Its to the point where my phone is now not backed up, so I'm thinking I need to go back to the computer based backups.

After dealing with the same problem for months, I think I've finally cracked it: What's the app you use really often, but isn't listed among the individual backup options in the iCloud settings? Yup, Messages. Chances are that over time you have been sending and receiving photos and -- an even bigger culprit -- videos. These have been piling up locally on your device and getting backed up to iCloud each night.
Today I manually went through each of my iMessage threads on my iPhone and iPad and deleted all videos that I sent to/received from friends and family (I'm leaving photos for now, since they're much smaller files). Then I deleted both iCloud backups and then turned the iCloud backup fuctionality back on. Like a charm, hundreds of megabytes of backup size had been shaved off of both devices. If you're not too attached to your various iMessage discussions, you can just clear them altogether and save yourself the painful exercise I undertook. From now on, I'm going to delete a video from Messages as soon as I send it; if I'm receiving, I'll save to Camera Roll and delete from Messages.
I hear that Voice Memos on your iPhone is another app that can pile up big files but not show up in the individual iCloud backup settings.
Hope this helps. If so, please indicate that it solved your problem. Thank you.

  • Why does my iCloud Backup think my 70 photos (no videos) are a 1.7GB backup?

I got a message saying my iCloud backup is not going to fit in my free 5GB.  I went into my iCloud backup settings and found the Camera Roll was showing up at 1.7GB.  That's fine, I had four videos and like 250 photos.  Most of those were already moved into my laptop, so I deleted all the videos and all but 70 photos.  But when I check my iCloud backup settings, the Camera Roll still shows up as needing 1.7GB, and the next backup still will not fit.
The Camera Roll is by far the largest item in my backup, and I know if I can get it to accurately measure the space it's taking up, my backup will fit.
Any idea why 70 photos and no videos are showing up as needing 1.7GB for the next backup?

An awful lot of people are having this issue and for once the solution is just good old fashioned patience after deleting photos, turning the feed off which will delete the history of the feed, then switch back once that has been done.
Its taken me an hour to realise this lol !
    Thanks pvonk !!

  • ICloud calendar colors changing

iCloud calendar colors changing without me doing anything. Last night my calendar colors were as I established two years ago and this morning two fo the colors are swapped. Changing them back doesn't seem to help.

Same problem.  Except that I noticed the colors on the web for iCloud have changed to match the new ones in IO7 on the phone.
So I changed them on the phone expecting the web verison to update to match, but still no luck.
The colors on the iCloud web interface have changed and editing to change them has no effect.
Could be the 'build-in' Work and Home colors are preset and not changeable, which would be pretty annoying.

  • Restored from iCloud backup but where are my contacts

I have lost some of my contacts and restored it from iCloud backup and it still didn't help, how can I get my contacts back? I have had contacts on in the ocotillo settings and my contacts are still missing... Also if I pick a further back backup then I will loss my current data, what should I do?

Were you syncing your contacts with iCloud?  If so, go to icloud.com on your computer and see if they are still there.  If they are, sign into the same iCloud account on your phone in Settings>iCloud, then turn Contacts syncing to On, and if prompted, choose Merge.

  • I lost my iPhone device, how can I get my data back on another one without using an iCloud backup just back up on i Tunes, Please Help.

I lost my iPhone device, how can I get my data back on another one without using an iCloud backup just back up on i Tunes, Please Help.??

You can find the backup files and then copy them to a safe place if you are worrying about this.
iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then press Return.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, then choose Run. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then click OK.

    hi me kashif Hello people,
I lost all my contacts on my iPhone. Facebook contacts integration is turned off. When I got to know that I have no contacts on my iPhone. I checked my settings and iCloud backup and contacts on iCloud (in settings) were off.
Is there a solution to get all my contacts back? Please help me. I want my contacts back, as soon as possible.
    Thank you in advance.
    iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4

Unless as part of a backup, or stored somewhere else, they are gone.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage. He can continue to use yours for iTunes content, but for everything else, he needs his own.
When you did what you did, as far as iCloud knows, this is the same person with multiple devices, and that's they way things are supposed to work: keep everything in sync.
