ICloud backup/storage

I have just got a 5s and backed it up from iCloud (everything from my iPhone 4). Can I now delete the last backup from the iPhone 4 to free up storage or will I lose the content from my 5s (as its all the same stuff)?
I can't back up my 5s now as there's not enough storage. I have 15gb of storage in I cloud but it's showing 7.6gb on my iPhone 4 then about 1gb on my iPad.  Having transferred everything from the 4 to 5s means that the 5s has 7.6gb too so I can't backup both and obviously I only need it once!
Thanks in advance

Hello Liseoo,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iCloud: Managing your iCloud storage
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847
Deleting backups and turning off Backup for your device
iOS 5 and later
Tap Settings, then tap the iCloud icon.
Tap Storage & Backup.
Tap Manage Storage.
Tap your iOS device in the Backups area.
Tap Delete Backup.
You will be asked to confirm this change. Deleting this backup will also turn off Backup of your iOS device. Choose Turn Off & Delete if you want to turn off Backup and remove all backups for this iOS device from iCloud.
Best of luck,
Mario

I can't back up to icloud on my iphone. I have 25 GB of icloud backup storage, but it won't give me access to backup to it. How do you fix. My phone is almost full. How can I start using the icloud storage?

If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

  • Can't Delete old iPhone Backup off of iCloud backup storage

After upgrading my iPhone 4S to a iPhone 5S, I restored the 5S using the recent backup of old 4S.  Now I am getting "out of cloud storage space" messages on my new 5S phone.  I went into iCloud backup storage to delete the 4S backup, but, it says it is in use and cannot be deleted at this time. I have attempted to turn off iCloud backup on the old 4S phone, shutting it off, turning off iCloud backup, but, get the same failed message when attempting to delete the old backup.
What is the trick to removing this without wiping the old 4S, because I want to be sure there is nothing left on the phone, before I completely wipe it...and I can't tolerate the "No more space in cloud storage" message that keeps popping up on the 5S.
    Thank you,
    --k

That should clear up on it's own but may take 3-5 days to do so.  Wait a few days and try deleting the old backup again.  If you want to back up your phone in the meantime, manually back it up to your computer using iTunes (click Back Up Now on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings).

  • Can two different itunes accounts share one purchased icloud backup storage?

My husband and I each have an iTunes account, I purchased 25GB of memory for my iPad and iPhone iCloud backup for the year and am only using about 5 of that.  He is out of free iCloud memory for his iPad and iPhone and I would like him to be able to take advantage of what I've purchased.  Is that possible, if so how?

The only way for him to share your iCloud account storage is for him to share you iCloud account.  However, if he does, any data he syncs with the account will be merged with yours and will appear on all your devices.  Also, you would share the same photo stream and iCloud email account.

  • Not enough icloud backup storage for iphone 5 64GB

It would seem that someone has dropped the ball with regards to icloud backup for iphone 5 64GB. icloud only offers 55 GB of storage. My complaint is obviously redundant!

    Hi Buddhathoughts,
The reason that Apple only goes up to that much storage is that some of the items on your device don't count against the icloud storage. Here is a quote from Apple's icloud description. " And that’s plenty of room, because of the way iCloud stores your content. Your purchased music, movies, apps, books, and TV shows — as well as your Photo Stream — don’t count against your free storage. That 5GB goes a long way for your mail, documents, account information, settings, and other app data."
So if you have purchased 10GB of Tv shows, that 10GB will not count against your icloud storage. Also, with photos and videos. The photos and videos in your camera roll will count against your storage. But the photos(videos are not in the photo stream) in your photo stream will not count against your storage.
I hope that answered your question.

  • I have purchased too many application, now I want to remove some unwanted application from my iCloud backup storage. How can I remove those unwanted application from iCloud backup?

Please If anybody know this answer, please post me.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your apps are not in your back up file, only your app data.

  • How do I remove an app from my Icloud backup?

I'm not even sure I'm asking the right question.  I want to reinstall an app at the recommendation of my IT admin.  When I delete it from my phone and tehn attempt to reinstall from the app store, it is coming from the cloud.   I assume that's my icloud backup storage.   If that's the case, I'm not getting a new copy of the app but a copy of the one that was on my phone.  How do I remove something from my icloud backup permanently.

It isn't reinstalling it from your backup.  The cloud symbol is just a link to your previously purchased apps in the app store so you can easily download them again.  When you tap it, it will download it again from the app store.
(The backup doesn't included purchased apps and media, it only includes a record of your purchased media.  When you restore a backup it downloads the purchased apps and media from the iTunes store.)

  • HT1766 I usually have iCloud backup but I got a notification that my phone has not backed up for the last two weeks, and It wont let me do it manually. Why did it all of a sudden stop backing up?

I usually have iCloud backup but I got a notification that my phone has not backed up for the last two weeks, and It wont let me do it manually. There is also still enough storage space.  Why did it all of a sudden stop backing up?

The HT1766 article you attached lists the prerequisites for an iCloud backup:
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your device using iOS 5 or later. After you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage, it will run on a daily basis as long as your device is:
Connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi
    Connected to a power source
    Screen locked
You can also back up manually whenever your device is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing Back Up Now from Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

  • Icloud backup ipad

I have the message on my ipad " icloud backup. This ipad hasn't been backed up in 3 weeks.  Backups happen when this iapd is plugged in, locked, and connected to wi-fi."  I have plugged it in, hooked up to wi-fi, but nothing.  The message never goes away and I can't do anything on the ipad.  Any help would be great, thank you.

Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears
Make sure iCloud Backup is turned on
Then: Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage > Backup Now

  • HT4859 How do I manage my iCloud backup if my Ipad has frozen up?

I'm getting the message "Not Enough Storage - This iPad cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available (using 4.9 out of 5). You can manage your storage in Settings." It gives me the option to Close the message or go to Settings. However, when I press the buttons, nothing happens. It's frozen. I asked Siri to take me to Settings, but that was as far as I could get.
Is there a way to manage my iCloud backup (delete items, etc) via the iCloud website - since I can't use my iPad?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.
You can see what your iCloud storage is used for and delete any unwanted content at settings > iCloud > backup & storage > manage......

  • Why did a game app use my iCloud storage when I have iCloud backup turned off?

I have a game app that I just bought but when I looked in my settings under iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage then under Documents & Data I noticed that game had used some iCloud space. I have iCloud backup off but in settings>iCloud Documents & Data is on along with few other ones like Contacts, Calendars, Reminders...etc. I'm curios if this game app is using the 5 gigabytes of free space I have that's not even on for backup?  What documents & data actually get stored when Documents & Data are turned on?  I totally understand the Contacts, Reminders, Bookmarks, Notes, Photostream...etc but somebody explain please what Documents & Data stores. Thanks.

The weather app that came with my iPhone 4s will sync with my iPod touch 4th generation weather app that it came with also.  For example, if I add a city like Las Vegas on my iPhone then when I go to my iPod Touch, Las Vegas will be there as well.  Also for example if i restore my iPhone or iPod touch clean, the weather data all appears there.  All the cities that I've added for weather are there.

  • Can't find the storage and backup link to start an icloud backup

Why is it that when you create an icloud account the Storage and Backup link isn't always there.  I need to create an icloud account and then create an icloud backup right away so that I can setup multiple ipads using the icloud backup.  How do I force an icloud backup?
    Thanks

You can check your Junk/Spam folders, sometimes the e-mail gets sent there. Also, double check that the primary e-mail address in your Apple ID account is hers. If none of this works, I suggest to wait it out, sometimes it can take up to 24 hours!
