ICloud Cal not syncing iCal on iMac 10.8 Mountain Lion

I am routinely receiving an error: "The server is currently unreachable or its name is incorrect for “iCloud”. I have tried all the preliminary troubleshooting steps provided in the general and advanced Apple Support recommendations without positive result. So my Calendar on iCloud is up-to-date (I have been entering data there) but not pushing it out to desktop using Calendar 6.0. Any advice out there?
Thanks.

Okay, I solved my own problem. Given that the error message was pointing to an erroneous address for my iCloud server, I opened my desktop Calendar > Preferences > Accounts. Once there I deleted the existing iCloud / CalDAV account. (Prior to doing this, of course, I made sure I had a recent backup of my calendar data.) Once the local calendars were removed, I created a new  account making sure to select iCloud under Account Type. I finished by typing in my iCloud account name and password and hit "Create" and, presto!, new CalDAV server address is shown on the screen and it pushes my iCloud calendars out to the desktop.
Problem solved.
I hope this is of use to someone else who may experience the same problem.

No, perfectly normal to have a separate iTunes account for music/app purchases to the one you use for iCloud syncing of contacts, notes, etc.

  • My contacts and calenders on my IPAD not syncing with my IMAC

My contacts, mail and calenders on my IPAD are not syncing with my IMAC properly.  My IPhone seems to sync with IPAD okay.
Also, on my IPhone I have subfolders for a second email account, but on my IPAD and IMAC I can only access subfolders from one email account.
    Please help

For Mail in order to have subfolders the email account must be an IMAP account. Check on the iPad in Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendars > the email account in question to make sure the correct account type is selected.
If your ad is not syncing your Contacts and Calendars to the other devices go to Settings and make sure iCloud is on and you're signed in to the same iCloud account as on your other devices. Then make sure that Contacts and Calendar syncing is turned on.

  • ICloud calendar not syncing with mac

on my iPhone, when I input an event in my iCloud calender, it doesn't sync to my iCal on my Mac.  (BUT, it does work the other way - if I make an event on my Mac it does show up in that calendar on my phone...) Any help much appreciated.

iCloud will not sync your Google calendar.  To get it into iCloud, you have to export it as an .ics file, then import that to an iCloud calendar on your Mac.  See http://www.groovypost.com/howto/osx-lion-import-google-calendars-icloud/.

  • Putting info on my iPhone calendar does not sync with my iMac unless I plug it into my iMac

putting info on my iPhone calendar does not sync with my iMac unless I plug it into my iMac.  It did when I first bought iPhone, how can I sync automatically?

Could be a bunch of reasons. Do you have icloud setup on both devices? Can you give us more details of your setup? Make sure you have the calendar set to sync in the icloud system settings. Also make sure you are set to sync said calendar. I was checking my settings and realized that you may or may not be using icloud for calendaring. On your phone in settings/mail, contacts, calendars/ you have the ability to select what and which calendars you want to sync. Make sure it is configured appropriately.

Is there a toggle or setting that needs to be changed.
    I've looked but no joy.
Thanks in advance for your help.

If iTunes is not seeing the iPod then try:

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately Office for Mac does not support the correct protocols to work with iCloud.

  • Mobileme not syncing ical

my ipad wi-fi 16gb is not syncing ical to mobileme. I have been messing with settings. Done 3 restores, nothing works.
I searched the forums and didn't see this anywhere. Any ideas?

    Hello,
    Open System Preferences / MobileMe
Select the Sync tab. Make sure "Calendars" is selected.
Restart your Mac. Connect your iPad to your Mac. Under the Info tab make sure "Sync iCal Calendars" is selected. Click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.

  • ICloud Drive not syncing photos before 2013 to iPhone 5 -

My iCloud Drive ios 8, not syncing propenly with Windows 7 laptop. Storage fine on iCloud, but iPhone and iPad 5 only receiving photos back to 2013, photos before 2013, in same Windows  laptop folder, not appearing on phone or pad.

  • ICloud is not syncing photos

iCloud is not syncing photos from phone to ipad?  When I login to icloud.com there is no Photo folder?? I read somewhere that you must close camera on iphone for photos to sync, have been doing that, but that's not doing it now.

Photo stream photos are uploaded when the camera app is closed, the device is connected to wifi and has at least 20% battery life remaining.  Also, only photos added to the camera roll after enabling photo stream are uploaded, not earlier photos.  If those conditions were met and the photos are still not uploading, try turning photo stream off, then back on.  Before turning it off, if you have any photo stream photos on it that are older than 30 days and are no longer in the camera roll, save them to the camera roll or you will lose them.  (Open your my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward pointing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll.)

    Cenzon-
Are you syncing over WiFi or over the USB cable?  Try doing the opposite.
Also try a different USB port on the iMac.

  • My iPad and iPhone have the same syncing calendar but my Windows 7 PC with iCloud does not sync/show the same calendar...please help!

My iPad and iPhone have the same syncing calendar but my Windows 7 PC with iCloud does not sync/show the same calendar...please help!

iCloud will not sycn a calendar from an external source.  In order to use iCloud to sync it, you would have to move it to iCloud and stop using Google.  I know how to do that on a Mac, but I'm not sure how to do it on a PC.  If you're using Outlook, I suspect you export it as an .ics file to your desktop, then import it to the iCloud account in Outlook.  I'm sure you could use Google to find the specific steps.
However, there's really no reason not to just use Google to sync your calendar across your devices.  Instead, just continue to use Goole calendar on all your devices and they should stay in sync.  Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Jj0KFgbYI.
