Icloud calendar colors automatically changing

On iOS 6 and 7 my icloud shared calendars are automatically changing as if they are on a rainbow timer. When I set it back to a different color, a few minutes later it just goes back and changes again. I really thought iOS7 would solve this. Any suggestions?

Mine is doing the same thing. I though there would be one place where I could change it and it would push out to the others, but that doesn't seem to be the case. My primary calendar was Orange for the longest time, but now it keeps turning Purple.
Here's where I've tried to change it:
icloud.com via Safari 6 on OS X Lion
iCal on OS X Lion
Calendar App on iOS 7
Sunrise Calendar on iOS 7
On each one of these, I am able to change the color back to Orange, but within a minute or less, it is back to Purple. The only exception is iCal on Lion. It retains my color change even through calendar refreshes, but when the app is quit and relaunched, the changes have not persisted and the Orange calendar is now Purple again.

iCloud calendar colors changing without me doing anything. Last night my calendar colors were as I established two years ago and this morning two fo the colors are swapped. Changing them back doesn't seem to help.

Same problem.  Except that I noticed the colors on the web for iCloud have changed to match the new ones in IO7 on the phone.
So I changed them on the phone expecting the web verison to update to match, but still no luck.
The colors on the iCloud web interface have changed and editing to change them has no effect.
Could be the 'build-in' Work and Home colors are preset and not changeable, which would be pretty annoying.

  • Calendar colors keep changing

I haven't seen a question about this posted since iOS 5 came out (and most seem to come from the last decade).
I'm running iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2. I use both iCloud calendars and I subscribe to a number of Google calendars, as well. This problem only manifests itself with the subscribed calendars. I'm glad that you can finally customize the color of a subscribed calendar, but your choices don't stick. I want my work calendar to be red, my travel calendar to be blue, my personal calendar to be green, and a fourth orange. I have set these by clicking on the Calendars tab at the top to show the list of calendars, then tapping Edit, and then setting the colors.
I don't know when it does this, but it will always change the colors to something else. And it's not consistent between the iPhone and iPad. So, for example, the work calendar, which I had set as red, is now purple on my iPad. It's green on my iPhone. I realize the color might not sync between devices, but if I set it as red on both, why is it changing them to something else?
Only thing I can tell is perhaps it happened when the iPad's screen shut off, or maybe when it synced.
Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?

I've got what i think is a pretty good fix to this.
subscribing to calandars via iCal on your Mac is the way to go. you can subscribe, set the colour and tell it to push via iCloud to your iOS devices. they come through with the correct colour and stay that way.
    all good
however, i can't seem to delete the subscribed calandars i have on my iPhone. every time i delete the subscription, they just come back in again! quite annoying, but at least you can untick it so that it doesn't show up. which it would go away for good though.
much happier now i'm controlling everything through iCal and iCloud

  • ICloud Calendar Colors

I've been using iCloud calendars for a while now, and they've worked pretty good. Then two days ago, something strange happened. Two of my 8 calendars had spontaneously changed color. Turns out this makes my calendar look very confusing.
So sounds simple enough, just change it back. Thing is, when I change the colors back, they change right back to the wrong colors again in a few minutes. I've tried changing these colors from my iPad, on icloud.com and from my computers. But alas, its still not staying changed.
Anyone ever have this problem before? Anyone know a solution?

I have this problem as well!  I am using ios 6 on an iphone 5 and I also use icloud.com all the time.  Whether on my iphone 5 or icloud.com, the calender colors wont change.

  • Shared iCloud calendar colour keeps changing

I haven't had this problem for a while, but this week my the calendar my wife shares with me in iCloud keeps changing colour.
I am running iOS 6.1.3 and we have had the shared calendars set up for ages. Now no matter what i do her calander displays as blue, even though it is yellow when i log into iCloud on the web.
When I change to colour to purple on either my iPad or iPhone the colour changes on the web iCloud calendar but displays as blue in iCal on my mac, and in iCal on both my iPad and iPhone.
I haven't added any other new calendars or accounts recently, so I have no idea why this is happening (again)
Anyone else having this problem and/or found a solution?

I started having this problem in late June. Both the names and colours for some of my shared calendars suddenly changed to the names and colours used by the calendar owners (instead of the names and colours that I have assigned to them). This had worked just fine ever since shared calendars became available until June, 2013. My Mom and my sister are having the same problem.
I reported the problem to Apple support on July 3, and they ran through some troubleshooting with me. The names and colours are correct on the calendar app in Mountain Lion as well as iCloud.com through Safari on my Mac. However, when the calendar syncs to any iOS device, the namea and colours on SOME of the shared calendars change. This even occurs when setting up a brand new iPad for the first time.
If I change the name and colour on either my iPhone or iPad, the change seems to sync back to iCloud, but, just a few seconds later, the calendar app on iOS begins syncing again and the names and colours change back.
I spoke to two levels of support at Apple who were not able to resolve the problem. The second rep said the problem needed to be forwarded to an Apple engineer for investigation. It's now been over a month, and there has still been no response from their engineers. I've contacted Apple twice for an update, and they said the engineers still have not replied.

  • IPhone Calendar colors keep changing

When I first began using my IPhone 3G, the calendar entries all synced as blue. Fine. About a week ago, they all synced as red. Strange that the color changed, but also fine. Yesterday, they synced as yellow. Not fine. I have a very hard time reading entries because the white lettering barely shows within the entries. Is there a way to go back to one of the other colors or at least to a more legible color? Thanks.

dwbsf. If you go into your "mail, contacts, calendars" settings, then into your Exchange account you can turn the Calendar syncing on or off. If you turn it off, then back on, your calendar colors should return to the basic default color sequence, which hopefully will be colors that are more appealing (Red, Orange, Blue, etc.

  • ICloud / Calendar app keeps changing my calendar colors

I just noticed this happening two days ago, the calendar app on my iphone and macbook is changing the colors of my calendars at random. They're only cycling between two colors for each of the 3 calendars (the original color, green, orange, purple and the changed color of blue and purple). I have no idea why it's doing this. No one else has access to my icloud account, and so far I have not noticed any loss of data. I've backed everything up. The same thing is happening on my iphone as well.
    OSX 10.8.4, Cal version 6.0 (1648)
It's more of a nuisiance, but I don't want to lose appointments if this is a sign of something else going on. Any ideas?

sorry. please disregard. I did not check out the other threads about this issue.

  • Calendar colors keeping changing to purple

one specific calendar keeps changing by itself to purple. even when i change it back to the color i want, it goes directly back to purple. this happens on my ipad and when accessing icloud on my mac book

It seems that my green work calendar is now purple as well.
In the past work was a light green and personal was a slightly different shade of green.  Now it is purple, not my favorite color but it is distinct.  It would be nice to pick you own colors
I am an ical user,  rarely do I sign in using icloud via the net however this is how all my devices are linked
This happened a while back and then reverted, if Apple would just have some notices of this at least we would know there is nothing wrong.  I am getting concerned that my data is not safe !

  • Changing calendar colors

A client of mine uses a specific color code for his ical on his computer, but on his iphone, the colors are different. I see no way to change the colors on the iphone. How do I do this?
    Thanks,

Cashman, this is actually possible. I just did it after searching for an answer.
    how i did it:
    go to iphone "Settings"
    Mail contacts calendars
The exchange account he wants to change the color of.
Switch calendars to off wait till it says off then switch back on.
go and check if one of his calendars colors have changed to the color he likes.
I had to do it up to 4x on a couple just to get it to the right color, i have 4 accounts to keep track of so colors are important to me, It wont have to be changed again. Ahh.....relief!

  • TS3999 icloud calendar issues

I don't know where to send these two topices so could you please assist.
    1. When you guys changed the icloud calendar colors the other day. When you go to make a new event the am/pm for the start date is hidden behind the end date.  Can someone please fix this.  It is causing issues when trying to make my appointments.
    2.  When you changed the icloud calendar and you select go to today it no longer is noticible to see what day is today because of all the colors.  It would be better to somehow make it stand out like it was before.  Now it's barley noticible.
    Thanks
    Can someone help

iCloud everything is working on my PC and iPhone. I can type an e-mail, update my Contacts, enter Notes on either my PC or iPhone and the display on both. But I can not open my Calendar since 5th feb on my PC.
I get the following message:  Calendar has stopped responding an error has prevented this application from working properly. Help Apple to improve its products by sending us dianostic and usage information about icloud.
This problem only started after installing Google Chrome. Since I have removed Google Chrome and Reinstall iCloud to fix any missing items. But its still off line. I have not been able to make contact with iCloud Help Desk.
I have also checked iclouds status. They are not reporting any problems or faults on their system.
Can you link the icloud calendar on the iphone to outlooks calendar on a PC?

  • Gmail and iCloud calendars seem incompatible

I am experiencing two issues with calendars on my new iPad (3rd gen) related to GMail. I have spoken with Level 2 support (so far, no luck in solving this problem), and have scoured these support pages ... several possible solutions do not appear to be working. So alas, I'll ask the question and hope for some insights.
ISSUE 1: Cannot add invitees when creating calendar entries on a Google Calendar
On my iPad, I have 3 calendars set up ... default iCloud calendar + two Google calendars. All three synch perfectly between my iPad and other devices. However, if I create a new event on my iPad, there is no option to add invitees to an event created on my Google calendars ... neither my primary calendar or the secondary calendar I share with my family. I can, however, add invitees to a new event created with my iCloud calendar. However, there seems to be an issue with this as well....
ISSUE 2: Invitations from iCloud calendar are not sending
Again, from my iPad, when I add any user's email address to receive invitations from my iCloud calendar, the invites do not appear to be going out.... at least not to any of my email addresses or my wife's email address. When I attempt to send an invite to my Gmail account, my name simply disappears after a few seconds (my gmail account is my iCloud account / Apple ID). When I send an invite to my office email address, the name does not disappear, but I receive no invitation at work.  So basically, I can't send invites from my iPad.... period.
    A few facts...
My Gmail email address is my Apple ID.
Many of my friends' and colleagues' email addresses are either their Apple ID's or alternative email addresses (I saw several posts about "bugs" with iCloud relating to auto-forwarding of calendar invites to iCloud for addresses that are associated with Apple IDs).
I have turned OFF the default setting in iCloud calendar to automatically forward invites to my iCloud calendar (pursuant to another post on this subject)
I used to use a different email address (Yahoo) for my Apple ID. At that time, I could send invitations using my Google calendar with no issues. This problem only started to occur when I switched my Apple ID to my Gmail account, which I prefer as it enables seamless synching of contacts.
I am all ears ... willing to try almost anything. Help is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    - David

Why do you need them in iCloud? You can use Google as the point of sync instead on all your devices.

  • ICal Calendar Colors Changing On Their Own; iCloud Connection

    AGGRAVATING PROBLEM:
Many in this forum have written recently about a problem ongoing for people with multiple iCal calendars where iCal calendar colors change "automatically" when you haven't selected those colors, or even "change back" before your eyes to some color your DIDN'T select after you select a new one.  If you log into iCloud on the Web and try to change the color of certain calendars, they refuse to change.  Try as you might, the color you want for your calendar won't "stick" and it is forced to be the wrong color on all your devices.  In some cases, even the names of some of the calendars cannot be changed.  On other calendars in your list, the colors and names will change fine.
Related symptoms:  Calendars you have deleted "come back."   Or, calendars you did not create yourself show up in your calendars list, such as "Calendar" or "Home" or even "Untitled."  Note that the problem seems to be most prevalent with calendars with names "Home," "Work," OR either of these words in the NAME of the calendar.  For instance, "Bob's Work" might get snagged (it can't be deleted without coming back or its color is stuck and "comes back").
I spent a long time on the phone with a helpful Apple senior advanced specialist on this problem today.  We conducted a very large number of "experiments". Our family has two iPads, 2 iPhones, and 2 iMacs, so it was easy to rule things in or out.  I will present some information that may help.
SOME OF WHAT APPEARS TO BE GOING ON:
First, Apple has not resolved this.  But the problem appears to be related to iCloud, and NOT to individual devices.  After de-linking all of my individual devices from iCloud, I could change any of the colors or names at will on any given device, create new calendars and then change their colors to whatever I wish, delete calendars, change names...no problem.  However, after re-linking calendars to iCloud, all the problems mentioned above returned.  The chances that my iMacs, iPhones, and iPads are all causing the problem independently is very low. They also have slightly different OS versions on them, so it is not likely an a particular device OS, though that could be indirectly related.  Also, the colors "change back" within about the same time (usually a few seconds to up to 30 seconds) that it takes to do a "refresh" (i.e. an update) to the iCloud servers.  This when iCloud is turned on, and the absence of it when iCloud is turned off (for calendars), strongly suggests that it is the iCloud server and its interaction with your devices that the fundamental cause of the problem.
Apple has said that they are aware of this problem and their engineers are working on a fix.  Historically, this can mean just a few days, or it could be a few months, years, or "whenever."  They don't give estimates of when it will be fixed.  Exactly WHY this is happening is unclear, but my guess is that it is a modification to the iCloud server code that Apple implemented without testing it thoroughly enough to discover this problem.  Apple does not admit to that, of course and I don't know if I am correct.
A WORKAROUND SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME:
Please note this is a workaround and not a full fix.  Apple needs to run a patch on their iCloud server code.  Until then, I did the following which seems to have worked for me for now.  Read the whole list before deciding whether to proceed.  I don't guarantee it will work in all situations.
Note...I found I was stuck for now with the color of ONE of my calendars.  If you are like me, you want to keep that one and work around it....
Backup first... Make sure that your iCloud copy of your calendar data has the calendar event information you want to save - even if the color is wrong.  Log in at www.icloud.com and do a refresh to sync to the Cloud.  Check over your calendars online to make sure the event data appears to be there for all of your calendars (even if their color or name is not what you want).
    Steps:
    1.     Go to every device that you have linked to iCloud separately. Go into Settings, iCloud, and then uncheck the "Calendars" option.  This delinks your calendars for that device to iCloud.  As you do this on each device, when prompted, select "Keep On My" ..iPAD...iPhone...iMac... etc.  This will preserve the calendar information on the device so it won't be deleted.  I think this is safer, but you can click on "Delete" if you want, too.  Note - if one of your devices is an iMac, with OSX Lion and before, you may be forced (I was) to delete the iCloud calendars from the iMac.  So again, make sure they are backed up to the Cloud first (or somewhere else).
    3.     With the iCloud Calendars Option on all your devices still turned off, go to the WEB and log into iCloud.com.  You need to figure our which calendar iCloud won't let you change the color for.  You probably already know.  On iCloud.com, click on "Calendars," then click open your calendar list and select "EDIT" at the bottom of the dialog box.  One at a time, click on the color dots next to each calendar name and try to change the color (you can put any back after the test if you want). You will probably see a certain one that just goes right back to what you don't want.  This is the one for which the color is stuck, but you may be able to change the name of it now that your devices are unlinked from iCloud.
    4.     Still in iCloud.com, change the names and colors of any of the other calendars you wish to change.  Delete any empty calendars that mysteriously appeared without your wanting them.  Take note of all the calendars, names, and colors that are on the final list of calendars.
    5.     On EVERY device, BEFORE turning iCloud back on on ANY of them: Change the colors and/or names of calendars, delete calendars, etc. so that the calendar names and colors on the device are exactly the same as what you left in iCloud.com in the last step.
    6.   One at a time on each device, go back to Settings and then "iCloud" and check again the box for "Calendars."  You will be asked whether you want to "MERGE" your data with iCloud.  I selected MERGE to ensure I didn't lose anything.  Link each device again into iCloud one at a time.
    7.  When each device is back, go back to iCloud on the Web, or go into iCAL on one of your devices.  Set to view ALL calendars.  Look for duplicates of some of your events.  I found quite several as an artifact of "merging", but in my case it only took me about 5 minutes to go through quickly and delete the duplicates.  It deleted the duplicates on all of the devices at once, so I only needed to delete dups on one device.  I did not find that I lost any events as long as I kept one valid copy.
Again, no guarantees...hope this works for others.  Good luck.

I'm getting the same thing and it's really bugging me! Keeps changing colour to one I do not want and I have tried everything to get it to stay the colour I have chosen!!

  • I am not able to change the color of my icloud calendar.

    Hi,
my icloud calendar changed the color of my personal calender to purple and I have no chance to undo that. Everytime I try to change it back to blue it automatically jumps back to purple.
Does anybody have an idea to solve this issue?

  • TS3999 Why is my icloud calendar has been automatically the colors associated with my calendars.

Yesterday 8/13 evening my iCal started randomly and automatically switching colors assigned to my indvidual calendars. So, my calendar is colored blue and my daughter's is pink. Suddenly my calendar was pink and hers blue and then 5 minutes later it would switch back. It is also affecting my desktop calendar which synchs with iCloud. So, I went to the source and tried to change the colors back at iCloud. I did that and then 2 minutes later while I was watching, the colors switched back. How do I fix this?

    Hi,
I have a very similar problem. I use eMclient on a company machine, as I have issues connecting to the iCloud.com website (I enter my login data, but then it says that there is a server error). So I cannot login.
For about one year now I could sync the company Win7 machine to the iCloud calendar with eMclient, even though I faced above problems with the iCloud.com-website - eMclient was my workaround for being able to enter appointments here and syncing them to my iCloud calendar. End of last week I saw that this is not possible anymore. In eMclient I get error messages saying "bad gateway" when trying to sync to the iCloud account.
I read on the internet that Apple applied this 2-step verification, where you now have to generate an extra password for 3rd-party programs you use that interact with the iCloud.
I generated one for eMclient, but still the same.
I also made up a topic in the eMclient support forum. They say that other users have no issue (even not since the 2-step verification). I should check whether I could access https://caldav.icloud.com/. If I try this, I get a "server is not responding" error.
I talked to my admins at the company and they also say that they changed nothing to the restriction settings lately.
I checked the account settings in eMclient like stated here: iCloud: Mail server settings for email clients
    but everything is setup correctly.
So I have no idea anymore what could be the problem. I have a work-calendar setup there, too, which is working - exactly as you also mention.
    Thanks for any advice!
