ICloud calendar - edit vs. calendar display

I just converted over to iCloud and I have noticed a discrepancy in my calendar.
For example, I have an event for Sunday morning at 8:30am but on my new iCloud calendar it shows as 7:30am. More confusing, when I pull up the edit window, the event is set for 8:30am.
What gives?

Time zone is correctly set up. The discrepancy between the calendar display and the edit feature is what is confusing.
Confusing here too, I assume you've done all the obvious checks (time zones, time set etc), because it really looks like a Time Zone issue, check the machine (system preferences.time & date.time zone) and that's about all I have at the moment.

When I add an event to my calendar on my iPhone, it displays the correct time for the event. If I add it on icloud on my computer, it displays an hour later on my phone. How do I fix this?

iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone.  You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone.  You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account.  iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac.  When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account.  You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar.  If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.

    UDPATE:
Spoke with Express lane, and issue was escalated.  Kudos to the support guys that handled this one (Brian and Yi).  Went through everything in detail and took all the crash dumps off the iphones and ipads to send to engineering.
After backing up the contacts, the recommendation was to delete all contacts in  iCloud.  Doing that caused my iCloud to crash (in the browser), so more crash dumps were sent to apple.
Eventually got all contacts deleted, then did a resync.  Looks like IOS devices are coming back to life and syncing again.
Also, Outlook iCloud connector has just been updated to ver 1.0.1 so i installed that on their recommendation.
    BOTTOM LINE workaround:
    1. Backup contacts
    2. Delete contacts in iCloud
    3. Delete accounts on IOS devices
    4. Recreate accounts on IOS devices.
Hoping a real root cause can be found and real fix implemented.  This has caused me to doubt the stability of iCloud, so i will procees with caution.

  • Any calendar app that can display two calendars per day side by side?

Is there any app that can display two calendars (data sync with iCloud Calendars) side by side?  e.g. one calendar for planning and the other for actual / diary.

Calendar can have two or more calendars calendars listed at the same time.
Each can be a different color for identifidation.
The first screenshot shows that the Medical and Joint calendars are shared calendars.
    Will that work for you?

I have signed to up to iCloud and am pretty sure that all of my settings are turned on appropriately. However I get syncing from iCloud to my iMac and to my iPhone, but I am unable to get my iPhone to sync with the iCloud and most obviously calendar events, so that if adding an event on my iPone it never appears on my other hardware? Can anyone help me sort this out?

Re: check that the appointments in my phone are going into iCloud calendars....exactly how do I do this?  I fear this is a really stupid question!
My iCloud account is set up with my Apple ID as one email account (for example [email protected]) which is the email account I use to sign up for internet sites like Amazon, Apple, etc, so that I can differentiate vendors/mass emails.  But my default calendar on my iPhone is in a different email name (ie [email protected]) which I use for most communications to friends, relatives, etc. and it is this account that holds most of my appointments.  To further complicate things I have other email accounts that I use for business/professional and community work.  If I want all my calendars to show on my iPhone AND sync to my iCloud, do I set this at the phone level or the iCloud level?  or both?
Let me clarify....It looks like if I go into appointments that I previously set up through my personal account (ie above [email protected]) and edit the entry on my iPhone, selecting the iCloud "home" calendar within the entry, it will then sync to my iCloud account, no problem....do I have to do this to EVERY entry I have? or is there  a way to name my personal account as one to sync to iCloud?

I have a quick follow up, if you don't mind. I tunred on iCloud for my calendar on the iPhone. Now it seems that if I enter a new item into my calendar thru the iPhone, I hvae to choose which calendar I want it to show up on - the PC calendar or the iCloud calendar.
If I chose the PC calendar when I sync with iTunes, it will sync with Outlook and show up there. But it won't show in the iCloud calendar, and thus not show on my iPad. If I choose to use the iClould calendar with the new entry, it will show up on iCloud but not in Outlook after I sync with iTunes.
There does not appear a way to have a new entry on my phone go to both calendars, thus having one sync with the iClould calander (and thus my iPad) and the other with my PC calendar (thus showing up in Outlook). Sort of defeats the purpose, it seems. If I cold choose both calendars in the edit field of the iPhone, that would seem to solve the issue.
    Am I missing something here?
Thanks again for all your input.
Yes, iCloud and Outlooks local calendar are 2 different calendars, use 1 only (and if you want to see it on both devices) use the iCloud calendar. Outlooks local calendar is just that, local.

You can see if they might still be on your Mac, but just not in view by opening Contacts (Address Book), go to View>Groups to display your groups on the left sidebar, then seeing if they might be under On My Mac.
If they aren't, and they aren't in your iCloud account or any of your devices, you may be able to restore them from your iCloud backup (if you have one).  Doing this is a bit tricky as you have to pull the internet connection to interrupt the restore process after the contacts are restored, then turn off iCloud contact syncing on the device, then reconnect the internet and finish the restore, delete the existing contacts from iCloud then turn on contacts syncing on the device again.  Otherwise, when the restore process completes and your device reconnects to iCloud, the contacts in iCloud will overwrite the restored contacts on the device.  The process for doing this is outlined in this user tip if you want to try it: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841.
If they are still on your Mac under On My Mac, you can select the contacts and save them to a vCard file by going to File>Export>Export vCard.  Then email this file to yourself, open it on your iPad and tap the attachment to import them to iCloud.

  • Outlook 2010 SP2 - Error when editing shared calendar: Post Exchange 2013 CU2 Migration

    Hi there,
I have a strange comportment with Outlook 2010 SP2 and Exchange 2013 CU2 and i really need your help.
Frequently, when an user (who has the good permissions for) want to edit a shared calendar (edit a meeting or add one), he has this error message:
" Cannot display the folder. Your server administrator has limited the number of items you can open simultaneously. Try closing message you have opened or removing attachments and images from unsent messages you are composing "
I see anything in the Exchange server event log but i have each time, an error message in the client event log:
    " Microsoft Office14 Alerts ID 300"
Everything work very well with Outlook 2013.
Many thanks in advance for your assistance, and I am looking forward to reading from you.

    Hi,
According to your description, the issue is related to your Office 2010 client.
And the issue can be resolved by installing the Microsoft Office 2010 Deployment Kit.
Here are the steps you can refer to :
    1. Open a command prompt with administrative permissions.
    2. Browse to the directory that contains the Offvirt.msi.
    3. At the command prompt, run the following command:
    msiexec /i OffVirt.msi [licensing flags]
You must enter a correct licensing flag in the following list to correctly configure the Deployment Kit. Otherwise, functionality may be incorrect.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:

  • Edit Enterprise Calendar in Project Server 2013 unavailable to permitted users

I am working with a customer where members of the Administrator group attempt to Edit Enterprise Calendars but are prevented from doing so. A dialog box displays saying that Project Professional 2013 needs to be installed. It is installed and they can connect
from Project Professional 2013 to Project Server using a Project Server Account.
The customer in question has an IT environment that is quite strictly controlled and policed - users cannot make changes to Internet Explorer security settings.
In Project Professional 2013 the Project Server Account is already created by some kind of group policy when Project Professional is installed on the users computer - normally when I get people to first open Project Professional I walk them through creating
    a Project Server Account.
Users can open, edit and publish their Projects created in PWA in Project Professional 2013 without problems, the problem looks to be when you try to open something from within PWA for editing in Project Professional 2013, invoking a request in one application
that should result in the request being satisfied in another application.
When users are editing their Projects in Project Professional 2013 they can be seen to have their projects checked out when the "Force Check-In Enterprise Objects" page is checked - for example John Doe's project is checked out for editing
    by John Doe.
I saw on another posting about Enterprise Calendars that stated:
I checked the ULS log, and it seems that Project Server is using a user account of a different user to launch Project Professional, and not the currently logged on user.
They have a very similar account name so I figure there is perhaps some kind of issue here.
I am wondering if this is the cause of the problem or if it is being provoked by some security settings in Internet Explorer blocking the communication between Project Professional 2013 and Project Server. Are there any Internet Explorer settings that should
be changed to allow users to edit Enterprise Calendars?

  • Why can't I edit my calendar on my iPhone from my Mac iCal?

I've noticed that I can't edit my calendar on my iPhone when it has imported the events from my iCal on my Mac.

Since switching to iCloud all of my calendar events show up double. How can I fix this?

In the calendar settings on your mobile, uncheck anything "from my mac" that is already syncing to iCloud.  By syncing directly b/w your iCal and mobile and then also displaying the iCloud calendars, you get doubles.  Also, in iTunes disable syncing of your calendars.  iCloud will take care of it.

  • Can Icloud sync with google calendar and gmail?

We use google calendar at my office and share it with our staff. I thought we would be able to sync those calendars with icloud and google. Before icloud, I set up an exchange account on Ipad, iphone, imac and it works well for calendar and email.  I thought I could replace that sync with icloud, but it seems to not be designed that way. Should google calendar and gmail users stick with google?

    THANK YOU ithos!
I have searched and searched to try and find a way to sync my Google calendars with iCloud.
You don't exactly say how to make this happen, but you gave me enough nuggets to put it together.  Thank you for responding and helping me put it all together.
I have 5 Google calendars (Family, Work, Church, Extended Family Birthdays, US Holidays).  My wife, two different assistants and I all share and update the calendars.  I want all this to continue since it affects every aspect of my life.  I sit at a PC at work and need to be able to view all those calendars during the work week, I also need to be able to view and edit from work (pc), iPhone, wife's iPhone, assistants computers, and our home (mac).  So, staying Google - for now, is what I need.
I just upgraded to the 4S and Siri is one of the main reasons.  Without iCloud syncing with my calendars Siri is USELESS with calendaring stuff.  So, I have to have Siri able to view my calendars as well.
So, with that info, here's how I got it all to work.
For those of you who need a start to finish explanation, here it is:
    1. Computer running the OS Lion (mine's an iMac)
    2. Open iCal on the Mac
    3. Open your Google Calendar
    4. In iCal go to iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts.
Make sure iCloud is listed under Accounts.  This was my default, so I didn't have to make any changes.  If yours lists something different, sorry.  I don't know how to change it.  But I believe this is a KEY component as ithos above mentions that the subscription be 'located' on iCloud.
    5. In iCal go to Calendar --> Subscribe
This will force a pop up asking you for the URL of the calendar you are trying to subscribe to.
Where do you find this URL?    I found this article from 2006 that gives the low down:
    http://www.tuaw.com/2006/04/13/howto-subscribe-to-a-google-calendar-using-ical/
Don't worry, even though it's from 2006 it still works.  Here are the steps in a nutshell, but you should read the short article so you don't miss anything.
    6. In Google Calendar you need to dig into EACH calendar that you want to 'Subscribe to' and find the unique URL for that calendar.  This will allow you to then force iCal to look at and scrape the data from this calendar as often as every 5 minutes.  As you follow the articles steps (they are very easy) then your iCal calendar will populate with the Google calendar data from the calendar you subscribed to.  I had to do this for EACH calendar I wanted to show up on my iCal calendar.
    7.  I then grabbed my iPhone and asked Siri, "What does my day look like tomorrow?"  She responded with all my iCal / iCloud (which are all subscribed to my Google calendars) calendar data.  I smiled
This ONLY allows the Google info to be pushed to iCal / iCloud.  It doesn't allow the info to go the other way.
It won't let Siri manipulate the iCal/iCloud calendar or the Google calendar.  But at least Siri can see what's already there.  So, a step in the right direction.
    Good luck!
