Icloud calendar shared reminders

I am having trouble with iCal on iCloud. I created an iClous calendar to share with my boss, but the alerts don't populate on his iPhone for the events/appointments I create.
HELP!
We really, really need him to have alerts leading up to his sceduled meetings; they pop up on my mac, but not his phone. I need it to be automatic...
Various forums talk about how to TURN OFF the alerts, but I need to do the opposite.

I have the same problem, alerts not coming across on shared calenders when the events sync properly. My wife & I have iPhones with latest IOS 5.x.x. I privately shared my iCloud calendar. She's subcribed to it and it syncs perfectly. Whenever I create a new event, it shows up on her phone within seconds. Same thing when she creates an event on the shared calendar.
Problem is, the alerts don't make it across. I typically set alerts of 30 minutes and 2-days before the event. My phone's default alert of 1-day before also goes off for 3 alerts per event. However, on her phone, no alerts goes off. Editing the event on her phone shows both alerts as none. Even her default phone alert setting of 1-day before doesn't go off either.
Anyone know how to make alerts sync across along with the shared calendar events?
Thanks.

  • Help! iCloud Calendar Sharing - diff accounts

As I'm away regularly with work, I thought it would be ideal to share my calendar (not my full work calendar but the one on my iphone which I add holidays and over night stays etc to) with him. So I went through iCloud and shared my calendar with him. Please note, we have totally separate Apple and iCloud IDs to each other.
However, on his iPhone it has now merged my appointments with his. If he deselects my calendar (in the calendar menu, it says shared by Kerry), his appointments disappear also. I asumed it would be like outlook, so he could look at his, or at mine totally separately, and that they wouldn't merge. Is there something one of us is missing here, and easy way to share mine with him but keep them as 2 distinct calendars on his phone?
    Thank you!

If it helps, I'm facing a similar issue.
My wife and I both have unique Apple IDs that we use with iCloud. Different accounts with different contacts, calendars, etc.
Originally we just invited each other to the other's events. However, as we started to use the service more and mroe we realised that sharing would be better, and save the invites for occasions we'll both be present at.
So, in iCloud we invited each other to view the other's calendars. Beautiful. We can now see both calendars, on my Mac, on the phones, in iCloud.
However, it seems there are some quite egregious bugs.
When she creates an item and invites me it appears hollow in both calendars. It should appear solid in hers where it is a defines event, and hollow in mine til I either accept or decline. If I accept it appears in both, as it should.
If I decline, or accept then decline, it is removed from both calendars. Clearly, not the behaviour that is desired. Quite the opposite.
It is clear that removing an item in my calendar that originated in hers should not remove the original entry in hers.
This bug has destroyed the utility of calendar sharing completely.

  • Google calendar / iCloud calendar sharing

    Hi --
I use iphone and my husband uses an Android. He is not interested in using icloud calendar, but we want to share calendars with eachother. I am able to see his google calendar, but when I shared my icloud calendar with him he was asked to sign in with an apple id. He is not interested in using icloud calendar does he have to have an apple id for me to share my calendar with him? It doesn't seem useful if I can't share my calendar with anyone who isn't an apple user. Please help!

    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a8694 say's:
    Sharing works as follows:
Public calendars can be shared with anyone. To access public calendars, visitors need to use Calendar (or iCal with OS X v10.7.5) on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or any other app that supports the iCalendar file format.
A public calendar can’t be edited by anyone but the calendar owner (the creator).
Private calendars can be shared with other iCloud users.
Participants can view the calendar using iCloud Calendar, Calendar (or iCal with OS X v10.7.5) on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or the Calendar app on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think your husband would have to create an iCloud account to subscribe to private iCloud calendars then use something like SmoothSync (from Google Play) for them to appear on his phone. I can't test this so I can't be sure, but I know SmoothSync is required to view iCloud calendars on Android - I just don't know whether it applies to privately shared ones too.
You're probably better off just using public sharing. The calendars aren't publicly accessible on the web, it's just the calendar URL (which is obscure so can't be stumbled upon or guessed) doesn't require a password to subscribe to.

  • ICloud Calendar Sharing

    Hello,
I have a couple questions regarding Calendar sharing through iCloud. My scenario is as follows:
I am the IT for a small business and I am trying to get iCloud to help out our scheduling deficencies. In our business we have many schedulings per day and we have multiple people editing/adding/changing the calendar. Right now we have more then one calendar with an attempt to consolidate to one main calendar. The problem is obvious with this scenario, we end up loosing track of what has been changed or someone forgets to add or adjust the MAIN calendar.
Now from what I understand there is a way to share a single calendar across multiple devices/iCloud accounts. Is this true?
How do you share the calendar across different accounts?
Also what do you think the best way to setup the devices? When sharing the calendar across accounts does it mark who added or edited a scheduling ie. by color coding or by iCloud ID? Should I just create one iCloud account and share that across all the different devices owned by the company? Or should I create multiple accounts for each device and share the calendar across the multiple different devices?
I think the multiple different iCloud account would be beneficial solely for the fact of knowing who made the edit or addition (if it does indeed do that some how).
Can you make an iCloud account without having an iCloud device?
    Any help will be appreaciated!
    Thanks,
    Jm

    Hi jm6001!
    1) Login to https://www.icloud.com/ and then open the calendar.
    2) Click in the top bar on the "Show calendars"-button. Now you can see all your calendars on the left side.
    3) Beside every calendar is a "Share Calendar"-Symbol in a small circle.
    4) Click on this button and you can invite other iCloud-members to view or edit this calendar.
    (Please excuse my meager English.)

  • How do I backup iCloud calendar and reminders without a Mac?

I rely quite heavily on calendar and reminders to organise tasks and events.
I cannot see any way to make a backup, however. What happens if I accidentally delete a calendar or reminders list? What happens if something gets corrupted?
The instructions given here are all well and good for owners of a Mac, but I don't have one.

The way that EAS(Exchange Activesync) this is not possible on the device side. Your IT might be able to see if there is a way to do that on the server side.
Post back if you have more questions

  • Icloud calendar sharing problem

I invited my wife to see my calendar(s) such as work personal etc and works great as I type an event she sees it right away.(no problem) But then i accepted her invite(via email as she accepted mine) to her calendars(she has iphone 5) and while I can SEE her calendars(title of them in calendar listing) I cant see any events in them nor when she adds an event it does not update to my phone.
Note: This is the same on the icloud website. I SEE her calendars(titles) but NO events within them.
Is this an icloud issue or phone issue?
One confusing note: if there was issue with the apple id or simular why then can SEE the calendar? I would think I would not see calendar at all if that was the issue.
BTW I have 3gs OS is 6.1.3 and not jailbreaked or anything.
Whats going on? Thanks for your help

Same exact thing here. If you are the original owner the person you are sharing with doesnt get any notifications only in the reverse.
I really wanted this to work so that my wife wouldn't have to invite me every time she made a calendar event which was intended for the both us. Plus since its a shared calendar I would be able to edit the event vs with the invitation I can't do anything besides accept it.
I tried using family sharing inside iCloud settings vs. just sinply creating a shared calendar and got the same result.
I then created the shared folder from her phone and still behaves the same way in reverse

  • ICloud Calendar Sharing Notification problem

I share three calendars with a family member.  I receive notifications of additions and changes from the other family on all my devices just as I should.  On the other hand the other family member receives the additions and changes to her devices, but no notifications of those changes.  We have done all the trouble shooting available to resolve this issue, but still no notifications.  It was working fine until about two days ago.  Any thoughts?

  • How to share an icloud calendar without sharing local calendars

I have created an icloud calendar for family use.  I want us to be able to view/edit it in the Calendar app on our macs and on our ios devices. But we don't want our local (business and school) calendars uploaded to icloud. Only one of us have upgraded to Yosemite, and none of us to ios8, as we don't like the new interface. We are therefore mostly using ios7 and Mavericks, though one is using 10.6 still and another is a google phone user.  Notwithstanding the last two oddities, it seems to be impossible to find a solution, even without the Calendar integration.
Does anybody have a solution for this no doubt common situation?

    Hi Bill,
    Referencing iCloud: Calendar sharing overview
If the other shares their iCloud calendar as public, you can add it to your Calendar without using iCloud, but you can only view it, no edits.
So here the answer is Yes.
If you need to be able to edit the Calendar, then you need to have iCloud Calendar enabled.
Private calendars can be shared with other iCloud users.
As the owner (creator) of a shared calendar, you assign edit privileges to the invitees to control who can modify the calendar.
You stated earlier, "When you configure the connection to iCloud you only have the option to merge all your calendars into one on iCloud."
That is not what happened for me. Each local calendar got "merged" with the same calendar on iCloud but each stayed separate.  If some of the local calendars didn't exist on iCloud, then they were duplicated on iCloud.  So for example, Home and Work local calendars became Home and Work iCloud calendars.
iCloud: Using iCloud Calendars with Calendar and iCal - Apple Support
If you have local calendars, they are merged with iCloud when you set up iCloud Calendar.
That doesn't say they are merged into one big calendar.
The calendars created in iCloud are not shared by default. You need to manually share the ones you want to share.  So to view someone else's shared calendar, you do not need to share your own.
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
If when setting up iCloud calendars you get calendars on iCloud you do not want there, you can delete them from iCloud.
    iCloud: Delete a calendar
Hope that helps.  If not, please contact support for help clearing this up.
    Take care,
    Nubz

  • "" instead of Emoji icon on iCloud calendar

    Dear Apple Community,
my first question is: Apple, are you kiding me (us)?! The problem is, after 2 weeks, still there! Just swich that Emoji option "on" again. That's what you have switched "off" the last iCloud Server Problem, isn't it?
Well, since the "iCloud: Calendar and Reminders - 03/14/2012 17:00 PDT - 03/16/2012 15:30 PDT" (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/systemstatus/) server problem some Emoji icons aren't anymore supported by an iCloud calender.
F.ex.: If my girlfriend creates an event at her calender, which is open for me (via her iCloud account - I use my own iCloud/iTunes Account) with an Emoji icons in the title, I see this "", instead of the Emoji Icons. This happens f.ex. with the "Fork & Knife"-Emoji Icon. The "Heart"-Emoji Icon is shown correctly.
I also found out that if iCloud pushes the new created event to my iCal (on my Mac) or to the iCal of my girlfriend (on her Mac) the Emoji icons are also replaces by this "" sign. o.O
After all, the old events, who was created before that iCloud Server still have their Emoji icons. Only new created events are affected. (After a switch on/off of the iCal in the iCloud on my Mac, all the old events now have also the "" sign.)
Note: The events are always shown correctely on the device on which they are created. F.ex. if I create the event (with an Emoji icon) on my iPhone, it's shown correclty on my iPhone, but on my girlfriends' iPhone or Mac and even on my own Mac it has this "" sign. Really strange.
P.S.: I already feedbacked it to iCloud Feeback. (http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html)

  • How to share only free/busy info in iCloud calendars?

I currently use Google Calendar to manage my calendars, with some calendars fully shared (view full event details, read/write) with my wife.
I also have been sharing my availability with non-Mac using clients and external partners using Tungle (and am transitioning to TimeBridge, www.timebridge.com now that RIM killed Tungle).  Similarly, my wife currently shares free/busy info in her personal calendar with a work colleague who is on Google Calendars as well so he can see her availability even when it is affected by non-work events.
Lately we've been having increasing trouble with random Google sync issues, so I'm considering switching to iCloud calendar sharing instead.
We would like to continue sharing free/busy info with some people, and from what I've read iCloud doesn't have this sort of functionality.  Even when a calendar is shared publicly, people can view all event details -- something we definitely DON'T want clients or work colleagues to have full access to.
Is there any way to sync my iCloud calendars into a third-party site like TimeBridge or even Google Calendars so that I can share only my availability externally?  Or any other workaround?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, his Mac is not local to me. I would have to drive about 30 miles each way, which is not too bad, but I won't have time to do it for a couple of weeks and I am hoping an easier solution can be found without me having to drive, especially since if the problem is on my end, that trip would be a waste of time for both of us.

  • Can you add a task or reminder to calendar from reminders app?

This just explains how to use reminders, which I already understand how to do.
What I want is the abililty to add a link to a contact or a phone number, so that I can get it to remind me to call someone at a given time.
But without the overhead of duplicating their contact details

  • Icloud calendar lost

With the latest operating system update all of my iCloud calendar entries are lost. Any suggestions on  how to get those back?

Quit Calendar and also the Reminders application, if it's running. Force quit if necessary.
    Back up all data.
In the iCloud preference pane, uncheck the boxes marked Calendars and Reminders. You'll be prompted to confirm that you want to delete your iCloud calendars and reminders from the computer. They'll still be on iCloud.
    Relaunch Calendar and select
    Calendar ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts
Click the plus-sign button at the bottom of the account list on the left (which may now be empty) to add a new account. Select iCloud and enter your credentials. Your iCloud calendars should appear after a brief delay.
    Do the same with Reminders.

  • Icloud calendar: allow editing remains on, view only

    Hello Readers
Very successfully using icloud calendars sharing between family members.
The issue i have is ALLOW EDITING: ON remains on.
Each time I select OFF > edit calendar > Done > Done to close amd exit out.
it enables view and edit to the user when I login to the settings again.
We do not want the other permitted viewer/persons to edit by accident only view or events/schedules.
    Suggestions?

Solved it myself. Can't do it by device have to do it by the icloud account then refresh the calendars.

  • How to get reminders for shared iCloud-calendar on iOS?

    Hi there,
Does anyone know how to get reminders to work for shared iCloud-calendar in iPhone?
I "own" the calendar and have shared it with my whife and she has full acces to it.
We use the calendar for events that we both wan't to have reminders for but we can't get it to work!
If I create an event I get the reminder but not my whife and the same if she creats the event, then I don't get any reminder.
I checked in icloud.com and there are no reminders set in the event that she creted!
    I have a 4s with iOS6 and my whife have a 3Gs that runs iOS5 (latest).

I think you're seeing a limitation of Apples sharing of calendars. It seems Apple may even be moving away from any sharing. If you use the Reminder program for shared todo lists the only option for sharing now is the app in Mountain lion. Once shared it can been seen on all devices but the fact you can no longer initiate sharing from iCloud or an iOS device is not good news for sharing.
Seems very un Apple like not to have the best method for sharing this stuff. I have found it incredibly useful for my wife and I.  I have put in feedback requesting better sharing and would encourage anyone needing this stuff to do the same.
As a side note the 3GS can be updated to ios 6. Seems to run well on my 3 gs.
