ICloud Calendar Timezone and Refresh

Perhaps another iCloud bug here...
I travel a lot, and cross a lot of time zones.  It'd be nice if my iCloud calendar could keep up with me!
What I appear to have discovered, is that even though I change the timezone on my Mac (Sys Prefs Date/Time), and change the timezone in my iCloud preferences, the iCloud Calendar will not refresh itself to show the proper days or times....doesn't refresh if I hit the refresh-calendar button, either.
In order to get the event to properly refresh, I must first double-click the event, and then close the event.... A bit of a pain if there are a couple dozen events needing changing in each timezone...
iCal on the iPad and iPhone does not seem to have this problem.
Thoughts?  Fixes?
I'm submitting feedback to Apple on this...
Bob

Update...
The refresh button on the calendar does not work...
However, after making a timezone change, if I refresh the calendar page by clicking "Reload Page" on Safari, the calendar then properly reloads with the proper timezone changes for the events on that calendar...

  • Multiple issues with iCloud calendar, notes, and iDevices

So many issues... where to begin?
Tonight I created a new note entry on my iPad. We had a birthday party for our twins yesterday, and as we opened the presents tonight, I logged who gave us what so my wife and I can write thank-you letters and credit the right people for the right gifts. I e-mailed the note (straight from the Notes app) to my wife to be sure she had a copy of it, and it sent me a CC: automatically per my e-mail setup.
That was a few hours ago. as of now, I have 137 copies of that e-mail in my in-box and they're still coming.
A few weeks ago, when I finally got my new iMac (previously I was on a G5 tower that was dying and, of course, unable to upgrade to an OS X capable of supporting iCloud... since I knew my me.com account would be closing soon, I bit the bullet and bought new hardware to support iCloud), I set up my iPad (first-gen model with latest supported iOS) and my wife's iPhone (iPhone 4 with latest supported iOS) to use iCloud with my account so we could continue to share calendars, etc. As much as I resented iCloud being forced on me just when I finally got me.com mostly working, I did like the idea of push-updates to calendars. With twin toddlers, my wife was regularing booking playdates and other activities which affected my schedule, so live syncing of our calendars sounded like a good idea at the time. Nevertheless, all I got was headaches from iCloud ever since setting it up:
We each now have double and triple calendar entries.
Some of her Notes disappear on her after a iPhone sync on the iMac.
Push notifications and calendar updates have never once worked. In fact, when entering items on what should be our iCloud calendar on one device or another, many items NEVER synced, over the air OR in iCal.
I can now no longer sync to my work calendar, which is in iCal on my work computer, a Mac Pro tower not yet on an OS X version capable of iCloud syncinc (for what that's worth). I have no control over updates to my MacOS at work, and feel as though it wouldn't matter if I did because live updates don't work for me anyway. But now I have had to re-enter a year's worth of meetings, work holidays, paydays, and late-night bookings, previously only on my Work calendar but once syncable to home, on my home calendar. Manually.
Oh, by the way, since I started typing this, my e-mailed Note from earlier tonight has continued to flood into my mailbox and now I'm up over 150 copies and they're STILL flooding in. I can see them piling up.
Rhetorically, why does iCloud suck so much? Literally, seeking an answer: what, if anything, am I doing wrong... and what can I do to make it work properly?
I feel like I did due dilligence, reading up on how to set things up right. I'm no stranger to Apple's way of doing things - I've been a Mac user since the SE/30 days. But while MobileMe and me.com merely frazzled me, iCloud is seriously messing up my life. I hate it and I hate being forced to use it in order to take full advantage of my hardware. The concept is great but I find that, in practice, it's an awful system (at least so far - hopefully, it will improve).
Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
    - Mike

By anychance did you or your wife use any forwarding options under mobile me.

  • Public Folders calendars updates and refreshing issues

    Hi,
We have calendars we use under the Public Folders, but for some users it does not want to refresh right away, so user A inserts an entry in one of the Calendars, they do not see the entry they just saved inside the calendar at all. They try to add the same
entry again they get message are you sure you want to delete this entry !!
But if they add an entry and go back to mail view and go back in calendar view on their Outlook 2010 they sometimes see the entry they just made and sometimes double entries for same event as well because of the "delete this entry " message.
So the public folders calendars are not refreshing right away when users are entering an event, and also at instances other users will not be able to see the event either till they close out of outlook and re-open it.
It is bit of a nuisance, found this thread with similar problem but they are talking about exchange 2010 we are on exchange 2013 with CU1 (too afraid to upgrade to CU2 because of all the horror stories).
Is there any other way to have these public calendars that might refresh faster instead of using the Public Folders, if i am not mistaken MS has always tried to get away from using Public Folders and their development has been poor.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/f96df4f4-a554-4b4e-a7bd-c9f639b09216/public-folders-calendar-extremely-slow?forum=exchangesvradminlegacy

    Few things :
If i do decide to jump to CU3 , can it be directly from CU1 to CU3 jump ?
    - I have not used resource mailboxes but are they not just "mailboxes" i want users to be able to see the calendars and the events posted in them, these resource mailboxes seem to be more geared towards booking a room or some multimedia equipment.
Yes. You can go straight to CU3.
Sure, they are just mailboxes, but users can open the shared calendar. Most people probably use them for booking - true, but you can use it the way any want of course and keep it simple.

  • How do i get calendar invites to open and update icloud calendar instead of my local outlook account?

I recently started using iCloud for my calendar and have installed the MS Outlook iCloud plug in, but whenever I receive calendar invitations in any of the mail accounts I have configured in Outlook, only my local calendar on my computer is being updated.   How do I set up Outlook to have incoming calendar invitations update my iCloud calendar?   I even tried opening the iCloud website, but all calendar items there also show up as .ics files, which automatically open in MS Outlook on my computer and again update only my local calendar (personal folders).   I also tried setting the default data file in MS Outlook to the iCloud data file, but when I did that, Outlook gives an error message advising against setting the iCloud calendar as the default.   I'm at a total loss and would GREATLY appreciate any advice anyone might be able to provide.    Thanks to all for your time!

    Hi Marknoon,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
In order to resolve this issue where you are unable to use iCloud calendars in Outlook, please follow the steps below, ensuring you follow them in order and testing after each step.
Troubleshooting on Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook)
If you're having trouble with iCloud Calendar on a PC (with Outlook 2007 or later), try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved.
Note: iCloud Control Panel does not support Outlook 2010 Personal Edition. When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual menu (right-click) has also been disabled.
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration supported by iCloud.
Make sure that your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Learn about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel window. Learn about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
Make sure that iCloud is not your default account in Outlook:
In Outlook 2013 and 2010, select File > Info > Account Settings > Data Files. If iCloud is listed as the default account in the Comments column, select a different account and click Set as Default.
In Outlook 2007, select File > Data File Management > Data Files. If iCloud is listed as the default account in the Comments column, select a different account and click Set as Default.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not updating on your other devices or vice versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the iCloud Control Panel:
In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow  in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.
In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, then click the iCloud tile.
In Windows 7, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Deselect the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Make sure that the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook. (Learn more about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook.)
    Outlook 2013 and 2010:
    Open Outlook 2013 or 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
    Outlook 2007:
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
Note: When enabling Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook .pst file to iCloud, then remove the Calendars from the .pst file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Calendars data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Make sure that you're looking for your data within the iCloud folder in Outlook after enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted files can be seen by viewing Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data. iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Calendars data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.

  • TS3999 iCloud Calendar Problems

Im having trouble syncing my Icloud calendar to my computer. It will appear on my iphone and ipad but not my IMAC nor my sisters PC. We are trying to link calendars with work

    Hi Elizablessed24,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article you've referenced is the correct one for troubleshooting the iCloud Calendar.  Did you try each of the steps in the "Troubleshooting on OS X" section?  I've highlighted a few of the key points below.  When you have iCloud working on your Mac, then proceed to the section of the article for Windows troubleshooting.
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999?viewlocale=en_US
    Troubleshooting on OS X:
Confirm that you've turned on iCloud Calendar:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu (), then click iCloud.
If you're using OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later, make sure that the Calendars checkbox is selected.
If you're using OS X Mountain Lion or Lion, make sure that the Calendars & Reminders checkbox is selected.
Try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Make sure that you are using OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Calendar or iCal. Learn how to troubleshoot your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Calendar requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click the icon for iCloud. Make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
Make sure that you enter and update calendar information in the iCloud section of Calendar or iCal. Only calendars and events in the iCloud section of the Calendar or iCal Calendar list are updated in iCloud.
If recent changes don't appear, try forcing Calendar to refresh by selecting Refresh Calendars from the View menu. In iCal, select Refresh or Refresh All from the Calendar menu.
Make sure that your account was successfully created in Calendar (or iCal) on your Mac. After upgrading to iCloud Calendar, you may need to quit and reopen Calendar (or iCal). To confirm that your account is configured correctly in Calendar (or iCal):
    Open Calendar (or iCal).
    Open Calendar (or iCal) Preferences.
Click Accounts. You should see an account with your iCloud member name in the Apple ID field.
Turn iCloud Calendars off and back on:
    Quit Calendar (or iCal).
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then select iCloud.
Deselect the checkbox next to Calendars (or Calendars & Reminders in Mountain Lion and Lion).
Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
Open System Preferences and select iCloud.
Replace the checkmark next to Calendars (or Calendars & Reminders in Mountain Lion and Lion).
    Close System Preferences.
Open Calendar (or iCal) and test to see if the issue is resolved.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
    Cheers,

  • How can I combine multiple icloud calendars into a single published calendar?

I have several calendars in Ical where I map my activities and schedules. Like many I need several calendars to categorise events.
Now, I'd like others to see when I'm free and when I'm unavailable. For this, I'd need to find a way to copy multiple Icloud calendars into a single one for publishing - and the published calendar would also have to sync to any update I make in the original calendar.
Any way to make this happen? Any third party app? Tried a couple - they were outdated and / or cumbersome.
If only there was a "smart calendar" tool in Ical …

It worked - up to the crucial point: after combining icloud calendars into one "on the machine" calendar, the latter is ready for going public. But of course - this public calendar will only contain the .ics files and will not sync for updates from the icloud calendars.
    And that's what I want.
If this problem is not possible to solve with the software available in the Mac - is there any known third party solution for this?
    (Apple: "smart calendars" please!)

  • I'm unable to edit a an iCloud calendar event on my iphone

I set up different categories under ICloud calendar.  And one of the categories Im unable to edit on my iphone.  i can only edit on my mac.  Why?

Assuming they are on your phone, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (they will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer you will need the Pro version.  Use the app to backup the remaining contacts on your phone (from your exchange account) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap your exchange account and turn off contacts syncing (otherwise you will see duplicates).
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the exchange contacts back to your phone, and to iCloud.  They should now appear on icloud.com.

  • Ask your question. How to sync ical 3 with icloud calendar

How to sync ical 3 with icloud calendar?

And the additional problem is that once you give in and go iCloud, no rep will tell you there are iCloud limits on iCal's size, so that if you're calendar is say 10 years old, with 10 events per day, and there's a 25K event limit, it won't work, even if you buy all the storage in the world. Which means that's syncing is OVER.
So far I've tried three calendar alts: Fantastical (rated one of the top iCal alts); Pocket Informant (allegedly capable of superpowers); and Calendars. Not a single one is able to do the one simple task of
    1) integrating an ical ics file,
    2) placing a calendar program on the desktop and the iPhone
    3) keeping them both in sync.
And Google's cloud has even more restrictions than iCloud, and for frack's sake why can't I keep a calendar off the net?
This is really getting to annoy me. Chelsea, a tech support supervisor, offered that if I pay $99/year I can become a developer and get the next beta iTunes which will allegedly offer local syncing. Great.

  • TS3999 iCloud calendars stopped refreshing with Outlook

My iCloud calendars worked pefectly with Outlook until recently.  It no longer updates Outlook with changes made by other devices to iCloud calendars, yet changes I make in Outlook show up in iCloud on these other devices.  Basically, it seems that Outlook is no longer refreshing iCloud calendars to show entries made from elsewhere.  Yet all my other devices are working perfectly.

Check the port and SSL settings as mentioned in the thread. A little tweaking should get you up and running.
I only changed the smtp settings... left the incoming server settings the same as they were.
    outgoing server = p06-smtp.mail.me.com
    outgoing port = 587
    SSL = yes
outgoing mail requires authentication = yes

  • My Outlook/iCloud calendar invites to others appear to work on my end and sync with my PC and mobile, but when other people "accept" the invite, it will not populate/add in to their calendar. How can i fix this without turning off iCloud?

My Outlook/iCloud calendar invites to others appear to work on my end and sync with my PC and mobile, but when other people "accept" the invite, it will not populate/add in to their calendar. How can I fix this without turning off iCloud?
I am at a new office that uses Outlook (not Outlook Exchange) which does not sync with my mobile... I just got iCloud set up on my PC to sync my contacts, calendar, reminders, etc... The sync worked (not without flaws, but the other issues seem solvable... I think), so that i can now see all my appointments on both my phone and on my PC. The problem I am having is that iCloud moved all of my calendar items from Outlook into iCloud calendar and now when I send out meeting/calendar invites the recipients may accept them, but the meeting does not get added to their calendar. This is a huge problem and may mean that i need to turn off iCloud.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks!

I am replying to my own post here as I seem to have fixed the problem.
I do have some calendars that are shared. Some of those are shared with users who have time zone support turned on. So i activated time zone support on my iphone, then deleted my icloud subscription. I then signed in to icloud again and voila... problem solved.
It is a weird one as the other calendar views were always fine and when you opened an event that appeared in the wrong day (on list view), the correct date of the event was shown in the information...
one more bug in a complicated system I guess

  • My icloud calendar and my wife's are not syncing

Hoping someone can help with this issue.
My wife and I both got my iphones on the day the 6's were released.  With iOS8 installed, we decided to use the new feature of the family iCloud with my existing account being the primary account and her's being attached to the Family account.  We created her a new account and "invited" her to the family account.  All seemed to go good.  Her calendar appeared to sync fine with all of our events that we had already entered.
Last week our son got his basketball schedule of practices and games from now through January 2015, and after entering them for over an hour, we checked to make sure she got the new info on her phone.  She didn't.  NOTE:  I use the Sunrise app for calendar, which syncs with the Apple iOS calendar (which it did correctly - new info is there).  So I checked my iCloud.com account through the PC interface, and all new info was there.  Then I checked her iCloud.com account, and the new info is not there.  I think that if it was on her iCloud calendar it would come to her phone, so probably not a phone issue.  I have used different color codes for the different calendars, and none of the Family info (colors) are on her calendar.
Hoping someone out there may have had a similar issue and can tell me what to do.  Other than go back to a single iCloud account as we had together for years.  I like this new Family iCloud design better - if it will work
    Thanks!

I found out what to do.  All I had to do is Invite her from the Calendar I want to share from the iCloud control panel.  Then she had to accept it and sign in to her iCloud account.  Awesome!

  • How can I get missing contacts, notes, calendar dates and reminders that are just on my old iphone onto the iCloud for transfer to my new iPhone upgrade?

    Dear wise & wondeful people:
How can I get missing contacts, notes, calendar dates and reminders that are just on my old iphone onto the iCloud for transfer to my new iPhone upgrade? Half of my contacts, notes, ect. were on my iCloud so have happily moved to my new iPhone but the rest are completely resistant. For example, on my iCloud I have 14 missing contacts starting with the letter A alone, however they are happily viewable on my old iPhone 4S and won't budge over into the iCloud.
There are also 3 notes missing yet still acessible on my onld iPhone 4S, the list goes on.
Your help would be most appreciated. Thank you so much.

  • Is there a way to sync iCloud Calendar with Google Calendar and vice versa?

I have been using Google Calendar for awhile and really just like the design of Mac's calendar a lot more. I want to use the calendar feature on iCloud because I can access it online when I need to. However I use an Android so I don't think I can completely utilize the iCloud Calendar feature on my phone. Is there a way to get Google Calendar and iCloud Calendar to talk?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Is there a way to get Google Calendar and iCloud Calendar to talk?
    Unfortunately not.

  • How do I fix meeting requests/invitations default to ms outlook calendar and do not show up on iCloud calendar?

This is frustrating and seems to be a known issue. Regular calendar items work fine but any meeting invitations sent to and accepted on PC running Outlook 2010 with iCloud add in only show up on default (local) calendar. Must add them manually. Also meeting requests sent from same PC configuration are being hijacked by iCal/iCloud feature and prompt the receiver to accept through iCloud interface rather than a regular Outlook email invite, though those meeting do show up on end user's Outlook calendar. And meeting requests sent to a group gives an STMP error. Is there an update or newer version that fixes any of these issues?  I turned off MobileMe add in but doesn't help. We use iCloud and like it because we need the calendar and contact features to sync between the PC and iPhone and iPad, which works fine.

Outlook will not allow a subscribed calendar to be the default, unless it is an Exchange calendar. You can't change this behaviour unfortunately.
