ICloud - can't sign in at this time

I have iCloud working via my Safari browser and my iPhone. But when I try and log-in to iCloud via my iMac's system preference I continually receive the following message, "you can't sign in at this time. try signing in again." It has been manifesting the same behavior for over 1 week. Any ideas? Stumped the Genius Bar. Really could use your help! Thanks.

Okay, here's what worked for me after upgrading to Mavericks (it should work for you, too):
(1) Deleted all the files in:
User(your name)/Library/Application Support/iCloud/Accounts/
(2) Shut down the computer, waited 15-20 seconds and turned it back on.
(3) Then I went to
System Preferences
iCloud icon
(4) Input the requested information and followed the directions to be back in business.
But, first you must be able to see the folder because it is hidden:
Use Finder and click on Utilities then Terminal
Type in (very carefully) the following exactly:
Chflaga nohidden ~/Library
Then
Finder
Go
Computer
User account name/Library/Application Support/iCloud/Accounts
Remember, the files are under your user account and not the harddrive.

Could you help me allow to resolve this : AOSKit ERROR ?

Reset key chain DID NOT, work for me, and I renamed the backup it made back to the original. (Note to others: I may have had permissions or other issues due to the way I upgraded to Mountain Lion by creating a new user and moving things over manually.)
HERE IS HOW I FIXED IT: (I don't know what the ramifications are, so this will make you a backup too.)
I threw away my Library > Application Support > iCloud folder.
In the Finder, choose Go, hold down the option key (alt) and choose Library which will appear in the menu.
Navigate to Library > Application Support and option-drag the iCloud folder to your desktop (that will make a copy).
Now drag the iCloud folder that is in Library > Application Support to the trash, enter your administrators password when prompted.
Then try entering your info in the Preference Panel again.

Can't get ICloud to work on Mac. Always get error message saying "YOU CAN'T SIGN IN AT THIS TIME. TRY SIGNING IN AGAIN". Been trying for weeks but with no success. Upgraded to Maverick 10.9.1 just to have use of Icloud but so far nothing. Any suggestions?

  • ICloud won't log in on my Macbook Air running Yosemite, says "You can't sign in at this time"

When trying to log in to iCloud, I get a "you can't log in at this time" message every time. I have no idea how to fix this issue. My password is correct since it works on my iPhone, and i have changed it too see if it would fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated since this effects me using Yosemite and my MacBook in general.

I ended up rebooting the Mac and resetting network preferences on the iPhone. Works now. It's a pity that was necessary after doing something so simple as changing my Apple ID password.
The continuity/handoff reliability situation is a little flakey at the moment (as is that with AirDrop).
Also, and the settings required to set these great technologies up are byzantine in complexity on both platforms - it's a shame, as this kind of convergent approach is Apple's chance to set itself apart, but as things stand, very few will manage to set them up.

  • ICloud keeps saying that I can't sign in at this time.

I have a MBP 17" (older model) running 10.8.3 and when I try to log into iCloud, it says "You cannot sign in at this time."  Alll my other devices (iOS devices) are able to log in and use iCloud, but not my laptop.  I tried repairing my keychain, and that didn't work.  I then tried resetting my keychain, and that didn't work, either.  What's up?  Any ideas?

Judging by the many posts, it seems icloud is down for many users but not all.  It's probably a server thing - some still working, others being down.  Keep reading the posts here to see when things will be getting fixed.

  • "can't sign in at this time", "connection error" error messages while trying to connect to iCloud in Mac

I have been having problems signing in to iCloud in my macbook recently. I can't use iMessage as well. Not sure what the problem really is.
When I sign in the iCloud using my macbook I receive this error message. The password is correct but not sure what the problem really is.
When I go on the web using safari and try to sign in to icloud.com, I receive this error message:
Again, the password is correct for my icloud and I can sign in to icloud using my iPhone. My iMessage in my Macbook is also not working. It used to work just fine. Please help.

You may find you can get the sign in to work through Safari if you clear Safari's cache and try again.
So far as being unable to sign in at system preferences, you might try the following, missing out the steps that aren't applicable.
    1. Sign out of your account
(If you are unable to do this because System Preferences has frozen, Force Quit System Preferences and try again)
    2. When prompted, opt to delete, contacts, calendars etc from your Mac.
(You are only deleting this data from your Mac, not from iCloud, the data will be reinstated when you log back in. If you need to check that the data is in iCloud before deleting it go to iCloud.com and check each section for data)
    3. Having logged out, check that the iCloud accounts along with their data have disappeared from the Mail, Address Book and iCal Applications.
(If necessary, delete the iCloud accounts from each of these application separately from each Applications Preferences)
    4. At this point it may be worth trying to log into iCloud from the System Preferences iCloud settings again, if this works, all well and good, if it doesn't continue to step 5.
    5. Open your User Library folder in the Finder. (When in the Finder, go to the Go menu, hold down the option key (alt) and choose Library when it appears in the Go menu)
    6. Navigate to Library > Application Support > iCloud and drag the iCloud folder to your desktop. (This action only copies the folder and will provide you with a back up)
    7. Select the iCloud folder again in Library > Application Support and drag it to the trash, enter your administrators password when prompted.
    8. Restart your computer.
    9. You should now be able to enter your ID and Password in system Preferences > iCloud and log into your account. Check the services you wish to use and once you are satisfied it's working as it should, trash the iCloud folder you copied to your desktop earlier.

  • You can't sign in at this time - Ty signing in again

When i try to configure iCloud from system preferences on my MBP I receive the error message above. Apple ID and password are working fine on www.icloud.com, iPhone and iPad. I tried to chance the primary email adress for Apple ID as recommended in other posts from Support Community. No success. Same apple ID seems to work from a fresh user account.
    Any hints?

I also had a issue with not beeing able to link my Apple ID to the OSX account. Finally i could resolve the issue after recognizing some entries in the console log that pointed me towards an issue with some strange ACL on the keychain store located in ~/Library/keychains indicated by a + in ls -la . After removing them with CHMOD -RM everything works smothly.
    Hope that helps.

  • "Sorry, you cannot sign in at this time. Try again...

I'm now getting a little frustrated because I still haven't managed to log into the ovi store. I had two accounts with the same email add and I deleted both of accounts losing all my files on ovi.com. I wanted to start afresh now that i got the N97. So I re-registered with only one user name and password (one account) but I'm still getting this error "Sorry, you cannot sign in at this time. Try again later."
Why hasn't the nokia/ovi database completely deleted my previous details? this shows that I'm still in the system with my email add. I can't start creating new email accounts just because of ovi. Is there a way round this? thanx
    can't wait for n97 successor

It sounds like you either have a bad Internet connection or the iCloud server is offline more than normal.
Can you access other sites in Safari when this happens?
    Test your network connection.
Download and run:  Namebench (free) http://code.google.com/p/namebench/
Once you have the fastest domain name servers, you then have to manually change your DNS settings in System Preferences/Network/
Select different browsers under the popup. I got varying results when using different browsers. Surprisingly, Firefox suggest Google Public DNS as primary, but Chrome and Safari gave me same settings.
System Preferences > Network > Select you internet service (be it Airport, Ethernet etc) then click advanced tab > Select  DNS and enter the settings

I lost idisk, unable to access get error code: Your iDisk can't be synchronized at this time (error code 14).

iDisk has closed down. It was killed off when MobileMe shutdown in June 2012.

Look at Dropbox as an alternative, or you can use iCloud if your Mac is on a recent OS (10.7 & higher).

Try to sign out of iTunes and sign back in, that usually fixes authentication problems.
