ICloud constantly displaying "23 hours remaining" on iOS5 with iPhone 3GS

On iPhone 3GS, under Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, it constantly displays "23 hours remaining" when supposedly backing up, and the status bar does not move, but rather hangs about an eigth of the way across.
It states: "Last back up: never".
It eventually gives up and says that it can't back up.
I am connected via WiFi, plugged in and charging, and have selected "Back Up Now".
It claims that it will back up everything when plugged in, locked, and connected to WiFi. However, after leaving it in that exact state overnight, still absolutely nothing happened.
I also have an iPad 2 on iOS5, and the iCloud backup worked absolutely fine.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Many thanks in advance.

  • How can I create an all-day reminder in iOS5 using iPhone 3GS?

When I use the new Reminders app in iOS5 on my iPhone 3GS to create a new reminder for today, the app automatically sets a specific time (e.g. 18:00) for the reminder. But what if I want it to be an all-day event? I still want it to be an event for a specific date, I just don't want to get notified about the event at any specific time. Can this be done?
By the way, this works fine on the iPhone 3GS if I create an all-day reminder in iCal and then sync it to the iPhone using iCloud. Then the iPhone displays it as an all-day reminder. But if I creat the reminder on the iPhone, I can't see how to set it to be an all-day reminder...?

Oh, that's weird. Yeah, it seems to be because the iCal todo has a "Due Date" that's separate from the "Remind Me" date/time -- but the reminders created by Reminders.app don't have the Due Date field.

  • Having problem completing sync after upgrading iOS5 on iphone 3gs

Since I've upgraded my phone to iOS5, I have been having problems complete syncing on my phone.
    I'm using an iPhone 3gs.
It always shows step 6, with the message "waiting for items to copy" when I'm not even copying anything or there's nothing to sync.
This will remain unless I pull the cable off my phone.
Is anyone facing similar issue? Any resolutions to this issue?
    Thanks.

I'm having same trouble over here.
Did you get your 3gs phone to sync your audio with Itunes?
I can't figure this one out..
    Thanks

  • No internet access with iphone 3GS ios5 personal hotspot

Prior to upgrading to IOS5 I was able to tether my Windows box to my iPhone 3GS.  Now with the upgrade I'm not able to connect using the new Personal Hotspot method that was introduced.  I can connect the phone, and actually see a network show up in my network connections but I get no internet access through it.  I can ping the Gateway that the network gets but that's it.  Can't ping the DNS server or anything else.  Any ideas here would be very appreciated.

Do the basic troubleshooting steps with your phone, as needed:
    Restart phone
    Reset phone
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup
See the User Guide for info on how to do these steps/

  • IOS5 on iPhone 3GS - 'over capacity' unknown used space & can't sync music.

I just downloaded the new iOS5 for my iPhone 3GS, and ever since I got it, I can't sync my music as it says that it is 'over capacity', even though I had over 6GB of free space left before the upgrade.
I also found out that I have 9.9GB of 'other' in which I didn't have before iOS5 upgrade.
I just want to get rid of the 'other' category & sync my music on my iPhone -- HELP!!!

Similar issues as in you don't got your music back on the phone? That's not the same problem or anything "similar" to this problem i must say!
Your problem is simple, you always need to resync the music from your current computer when you upgrade to a new iOS version, most people don't see this as a problem as they simply drag and drop their files to the iphone(or itunes library) or sync from their library if the music already exist in there.
So for you, just find the music on your computer and drag and drop them to your phone if you have selected to handle music/videos manually in itunes when you click your iphone on the summary "page".

  • Updated to ios5 on iphone 3gs but now apps have gone. Syncing it doesn't work!

Was asked when updating to authorise my computor to save some apps, which I did........now none are left!
Tried syncing the phone again as suggested by other people/ forums but this doesn't work.
Checked the tab titled 'apps' but there is nothing there at all.
Don't mind downloading again but not prepared to pay again seeing that I did all that I was propted for when updating and this simply hasn't worked.

Your contacts are available with your iCloud online address book - when you log in with your iCloud account via webmail access using a browser on your computer, your contacts are available there?

  • ICloud restore says 30 hours remaining?

I need to restore my iPhone with iCloud, when I wipe my phone and connect it to wifi it says 8 hrs then 30 hrs remaining. My iPhone back up is 2.4GB does it really take more than a day to restore? I'm connected to wifi and have 15mg down and 5mg.

I'm having this EXACT same problem with my iPhone 4, and I have the same computer stats (I have a Samsung Series 7)

  • How to expand battery life with iOS5 on iPhone 3GS, it's shorter than before?

I upgraded to iOS 5 and since then the battery doesn't seem to last that long any more. Are there any settings I could change to improve that?

Just as a heads up -- I've been out all day for the last two days with my 3G without recharging, and I still have a half-full charge at the end of the day with bluetooth on (though not paired all the time) with Wi-Fi on, and with three or four hours of internet and music usage a day. I don't fetch data, but have it set to check e-mail every 15 minutes. And it has been on 3G the entire time...it doesn't run down as fast as some people might think -- in fact, it is a lot longer battery life than any other 3G phone I have owned from ATT.

  • IOS5 on iPhone 3GS

I've just updated to iOS5, and now when I plug my phone in to sync, iTunes insists on syncing all my music and apps, even though all that is already on my phone. Any ideas why this is happening and (more importantly) how I can stop it?

  • HT201210 Downgrade to iOS5 from iOS 6.0 with iPhone 3GS

After upgrading to iOS 6.0 5 days ago, I've discovered that lots of files have been missing (photos, contacts, apps...).
And trying to restore to previous version iOS 5.1.1 IPSW is not validated by iTunes.
I could use my backup on Time Machine, but last update having been made 2 weeks ago,
I don't really want to do it and lose one week between backups.
    Any ideas?

There is no legit way at all to go back.

  • After iOS5 update iPhone 3GS  doesn't seem to work properly?

update including backup took very long and it was also interrupting at least 2 times.
Now after the update sms and phone list was deleted and some apps are much slower - e.g. it takes a few seconds until the keyboard pops up and then while typing the letters are also delayed.
And the remote control on the original headphones won't work now.
I have the impression the software is too much to handle for the 3GS.
Anybody with similar experience and possible solution?
    cheers, Carola
