ICloud contacts deleted on accident

Can I retrieve deleted contacts from iCloud?

I don't think so.. If you still haven't synced your phone with iCloud and still have your contacts on your iPhone though, you could make a .vcf backup file with "my contacts backup" app, email it to yourself, then log into your iCloud account with a browser and import the .vcf file to your iCloud contacts.

I backed up my contacts and calendar for the first time on iCloud and all my contacts disappeared. Calendar is there. I went back to iTunes where it was originally backed up and that is empty, too. Any thoughts?

Did you log into icloud.com and see if they're still there? If not, is there a possibility that there is another device set up with the same Apple/iCloud ID? If so, whoever is using that one may have deleted them?

  • ICloud Contacts Deleted When Placing Into Group

I am using iCloud for my contacts.  In Outlook I created a new group for my contacts.  I then dragged contacts from the main Contacts in iCloud to the new group, Now the contacts are gone.
What happen to my contacts and how do I get them back?

You probably dragged them to a local group thus removing them from iCloud.

  • HT4910 what happens if your icloud contacts are accidently deleted?  How do you retrieve the data?

What happens if your icloud contacts are accidently deleted?  How can I retrieve that data?

Everything that was on your classic should also have been in your library, and that backed up to another drive. If you manually managed the device, and it was the only location holding your playlists, and it has become corrupted, there really isn't much hope. See Corrupt iPod classic. There may be a chance to recover media stored on it if is isn't stored elsewhere.

  • Can I get my iCloud contacts back if I deleted them, Can I get my iCloud contacts back if I deleted them

I deleted my contacts on accident in icloud. Can those be restored?

Well, its complicated.  I used to share an itunes account. My phone had my contacts backed to my itunes not thru the cloud. This other person had his through the cloud. He removed his phone and now has his own itunes device, but did not back up his phone or icloud through apple so lost all of his contacts.
Then, I went in, and my first goal was to send him his contacts from the cloud. I sucessfully imported them in my address book on  my mac pro, and exported what I thought was the entire book to him via email. Instead it was just one contact. Oops
I then made it worse by going into the address book and deleting the contents, since I thought I sent them along.  I think went into Icloud and deleted those as well.   I then though that if I did the "merge" of my phone to the icloud, it would just move my contact on my phone into the cloud and my mac. I didn't have enough room it said to do this, so I deleted the Icloud data in the storage on my iphone, and then re-did the merge. Somehow it deleted all of my contacts as well, so I had nothing.
So I then decided to use the back up I did before I started all of this, but it was too updated. There are a few others I can choose from- March 2014 back to March 2013 on the other persons phone. I dediced for now just to reinput most of my contacts.
So I wanted to know if any of this was recoverable- like if Apple can just go back to yesterday and unwind even just the icloud contacts for the other person, like they can on email accounts.

  • HT4910 My iCloud contact list does not contain all the contacts that are in my phone.  If I delete one from my phone it will delete it instantly from the iCloud contacts.  But how do I get all those other contacts on my phone to the iCould on my Windows c

My iCloud contact list does not contain all the contacts listed in my iPhone 5S.  If I delete a contact from the phone it instantly deletes it from the iCloud on my PC.  But my PC iCloud list is lacking many of the contacts on my phone.

And which account did you enter these contacts in?
    On My Mac
    or
    iCloud?

  • If I delete my iCloud account, will my original Sprint contacts delete also?

I have 100's of contacts in my iPhone from my Sprint account.
When iCloud happened, additional contacts came into my iPhone from my old Mac Mail address book, which Apple did it without asking.
Now I have a lot of duplicate contacts - many of which have different name configurations.
    So, question:
If I delete my iCloud account (I'm switching to Gmail), will ALL the contacts be deleted as well, even the ones I had from my Sprint account?
Because when I choose "turn off contacts" in my iCloud settings on my iPhone, ALL of the contacts disappeared, including the Sprint contacts.  And I need these for making "phone calls", like the old days.
IF deleting iCloud account deletes ALL my contacts, then I have another question:  Can I export my contacts from my iPhone 4 and then RE-import them when I switch to Gmail?

    Moving to Gmail.  I'm done

  • TS4605 My contacts in icloud were deleted by someone who has the password of my icloud (maybe available in some of the iphones i have sold before)

How can i recover my contacts ?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The first thing that you should do and you should do it immediately, is to change the password for your Apple ID at My Apple ID
If you have an iCloud backup of your device, you might try the following.
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

  • I deleted my iPhone, and now I'm missing many iCloud contacts

I had to erase my iPhone (long story) and after doing that, I noticed that many contacts were missing.  No problem, I figured, I just have to make sure I'm syncing to iCloud and I'll be fine. WRONG!  The contacts are now missing from iCloud itself.  This is very frustrating.  I just cleaned up all my contacts (deleted old ones, updated new ones, etc.) and now many are totally missing, and some of the old ones I deleted are back.
To be clear, this is not an issue with my phone.  This is on iCloud.com.  The reset of the phone is simply what made me notice it.
And to anticipate what I may be asked:  (1) In my Contacts on my Mac, the contacts in the "on my mac" section are showing up, when yesterday they weren't there.  (yesterday I could only see iCloud contacts)  (2) I did a Time Machine backup about a week ago, so that could get me my missing contacts, but still won't help with all the work I did recently.  (3) My last iPhone backup (to my Mac) is over 2 years old.  I've been using iCloud, so didn't see the need for a hard backup.
Not sure why/how resetting an iPhone would affect iCloud (which should be operating independently) but it seems to have done exactly that.  I'm stuck.  I need those contacts back!  Any assistance would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you!

Update:  I reset my phone again and this time I restored it from my last iCloud backup.  That "sort of" worked.  (The missing info was on my phone temporarily, but it's still missing from iCloud.com and as the phone syncs with the cloud the missing contacts are disappearing.)
This is good news, but I'm losing progress.  How can I restore my iCloud settings to that last backup?

  • Contacts- icloud sync + deleting duplicates?

I am ripping my hair out.
I have lived with duplicate contacts on my iphone for years.  Today I started to clear out the duplicates by hand.  But as soon as I would delete one duplicate contact on my iphone, I would be brought back to the list of contacts,  I would see the remaining contact that now does not have a duplicate, then there would be a loading icon in the top bar, and that contact would then vanish!
I quickly went to my macbook, turned off the wifi, and exported a copy of my address book to my desktop.
I turned wifi back on, on my computer, then navigated to the "Contacts" application that is syncing with icloud and saw that both duplicate contacts were also vanishing from here.  So, I sighed and, imported my saved list of contacts, to replace.   But alas!!! the contacts that I deleted by hand would display for one second, the list would refresh and the contacts would again vanish!!!!!
So, I navigated to icloud.com where my list looks ok. The duplicate contacts are lost here.  BUT there are no duplicates displaying on icloud.com.
How do I force icloud contacts to put preference on my desktop contacts.  Or what can I do? to stop this deletion of my important contacts?  Do I have to live with duplicates?

Thanks for trying to help oscarluke.  Yes I'm fully up-to-date with the latest version of IOS7.0.2 and no, I don't have any linked accounts.  My point, that Csound1 failed to understand, is that I don't even have my PC's Outlook contacts any more - the only address book I'm operating from is my iCloud one which my  iPhone, iPad and PC all sync from.  So logically when I directly edit an address in iCloud (on the iCloud website) they should all show that one, updated address.  As you posted in Feb, unfortunately my iPad and my iPhone just add a duplicate contact - a corrected version - but leave on the old uncorrected version next to it - even though iCloud only shows the latest, most up-to-date one.
I have linked my computer's email account to my phone and pad to receive my emails there but I have only linked it for mail and notes, not contacts.  I wonder if the problem is something to do with the hierarchy of which bit of kit updates what.  If I update a contact in my iCloud address book on Outlook and then hit the refresh button it updates my phone and iCloud.  But if I don't manually force Outlook to sync and update it like that straight away, then the next time I go into Outlook my PC contact has been 'updated' by my phone back to the old address even tho' the system is supposed to work both ways.
My phone seems to have the ultimate control, but as you said before, if I delete the incorrect address on my phone then anything to do with that contact vanishes and then they start vanishing from iCloud, my PC and iPad.  The only guaranteed way I can do it is to write down on a piece of paper (I can't believe I'm even typing this) the correct contact details, delete them from everywhere and then key them afresh on my phone.  As I have about 500 contacts I never seem to get very far with the job.
iCloud certainly works a lot better than the bad old days of MobileMe which I also suffered through, but sync is still far from perfect.  If you can think of anywhere else there might be a hidden link or changeable setting that I can try I'd welcome any advice.
As for Csound1, your advice is not helpful, and the comment you made with regard to my post about Outlook is wrong.  With regard to the first - there are no groups in my Contact app - only one long list of iCloud contacts called All Contacts.  And with regard to the second - when you link an SMTP email account through Outlook, iCloud takes over all your contacts and your Outlook address book vanishes.  Not only that, but because the Outlook database formats differently to the iCloud part of some addresses were chopped off so there are random street names and numbers missing.  I have had to make a contacts backup to keep on my desktop which I update from time to time because if I didn't and the Apple servers went down I would have no Contacts at all, anywhere.  In fact iCloud has made a total mess of my contacts and I wish I could figure out how to stop it starting with these wretched duplicates.

  • After an erroneous contacts delete on the mac, they've been removed from icloud and all the synced devices. I was able to restore the contacts from a backup, but since the iCloud version is newer than the backuped one, they are deleted every iCloud sync

After an erroneous contacts delete on the mac, they've been removed from iCloud and all the synced devices.
I was able to restore the contacts from a backup, but since the iCloud version is newer than the backuped one, they are deleted every iCloud sync.
Now I have an iPhone with the contacts and iCloud deactivated, but I lost all the contacts on the Mac and the iPad.
There is a way to tell iCloud "restart using the contacts I have on this device"?

An iCloud backup will save the state of your Camera Roll at the time of the backup but, if you delete photos from the Camera Roll, they will not be in the next backup taken.

How does iCloud delete photos and videos from iCloud Photo Library?
Deleting a photo or video from your Photos app will also remove the item from iCloud Photo Library and from your iCloud storage allocation. Photos and videos you remove can be recovered from the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. After 30 days, your content will be removed from the Recently Deleted album. Photos are backed up on our servers for up to 30 days after they're deleted from the Photos app. If you need to recover these photos during that time, contact Apple Support.

iCloud is not compatible with Snow Leopard, that is your problem.
A quick way out is to purchase Soho Organizer which is compatible, even when running on Snow Leopard, it will correctly handle Contacts and Calendars from iCloud. $100, 2 user license.

There is a free trial if you want to try it.
