ICloud control panel 4.0 install error

I selected the automatic update to the above and now have a problem.  I'm running win 7 and the control panel installs ok but when I select Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Tasks with Outlook I get a message that it didn't install properly and refers me to repair iCloud within windows control panel.  I've tried this and once the process has finished the same thing happens.  I've also tried uninstalling iCloud and then downloading again, but still get the same issue.  Any ideas what else I can try.
Thanks
Stu

  • ICloud Control Panel 2.0 instalation error on Win 7 x64bit

just tried by Apple Software Update and manually as recommended and got that error is it because it's 32bit version of installer ?
i have microsoft visual c++ 2008 as well as 2005 and 2010 installed for x86 and x64 so...

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iCoud trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing the iCloud control panel again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 8007370B, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)
EDIT: Changed references to iTunes to iCloud.

  • Icloud control panel does not install properly but only when trying to sync with Outlook 2010.  If I try to sync photos, etc. it works just fine

Downloaded icloud control panel to Win 7.  Everything seems ok until you "apply" synching at the icloud control panel.  Then you get an error message that says "icloud control panel did not install properly".  Repairing in Windows control panel as suggested does not help.  If you do not try to sync Outlook data (2010) then it seems to work just fine.

I was able to finally stop ITunes from crashing after many days of searching n restarting my computer many times.
    a) First I went to this site ->http://forums.techarena.in/guides-tutorials/1119812.htm that showed me how to disable DPE. Please make sure that u have good virus...etc.. protection first before doing this. I have Avast Internet Security. RESTART UR COMPUTER..
    b) I then uninstall ITunes by following this site ->http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923      RESTART UR COMPUTER..
    c) I then downloaded a beta version of ITunes. I happen to download beta 7 before the final of 10.5 version came out. Installed it. After installing I click on it n it said somewhere along the line of "this ITune ver. expired" I checked in my Programs n Features n notice that QuickTime was installed w that beta version.
    d) Go online n download the final version of ITunes ->http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ...... After u finish dling install that. After that's done connect your IPod, IPhone...etc... n click on ITunes, it should sync all the way.
I was finally able to sync all thru the steps insteading of it crashing on me midway. Hopefully this will work for you. Good luck !

  • ICloud Control Panel will not install! What do I need to do?

I have tried running the installer but it fails with the following error message:
"Could not update the ini file C:\Windows\system32\mapisvc.inf."
What is going wrong & what do I need to do to install iCloud Control Panel?
N.B. I am using a laptop with Windows Vista installed, with Service Pack 2. I have also installed ALL updates.
Does it have anything to do with the fact I don't use MSOffice?
    Thanks for your help

    1. You need to disable the User Account Control (AUC) in Windows control pannels, otherwise next steps may not work.
    2. You need to locate the file, right click it and select properties - security - advanced - owner tab; click on edit and select your username (the current Windows account), press ok.
    3. Then within the security tab, select your user account and grant the full control to yourself (first box needs to be ticked). Press ok.
Then try the installation again. This worked for me.

  • The iCloud Control Panel will not intall on my WIN 7 32-bit PC

the iCloud Control Panel will not install on my WIN 7 32-bit PC. I receive the error message,
"There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program run as part of the install did not finish as expected. Contact your local support personnel or package vendor."
When the panel finished being "backed off" my PC, I also received the following message,
    "iCloud for Windows Installer Error.
The installer encountered errors before iCloud for Windows could be configured.
Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Click FINISH to exit the installer."
Each time I tried to download and install the Control Panel, these messages would appear.
The Genius Bar was unable to help me and referred me to the ICloud Support Line. They were unable to help me.
I refuse to believe that Apple is unable to solve this issue with their own software, but if there is anyone in this august community that can help me, I would be forever grateful,
    Thank you.

I'm having the exact same problem, and the exact same error messages.  I have windows 8.1 64-bit.  I've tried looking for solutions everywhere.  I'm very frustrated.

This is what i get when i try to activate contacts in the icloud control panel and no contacs are syncronised.....
    iPhone 3GS, Windows 7

After much some reasearch I fixed this problem for my problem computer.  I have two computers running Windows 7 64-bit, one working with iCloud contact/calendar sync and the other getting this "0x8004010F: ZebraMapiCopySession::CreateMobileMeMessageStore: CreateMessageService failed" error (when you look at the report data to Apple).
So when I compared my system to a working system, I found that there was a difference in the bit-named DLL used by iCloud.
Go to Outlook, File, Options, Add-Ins and in the Active Application Add-ins section highlight "iCloud Outlook Addin".  You'll find the DLL name there.
On my working computer, it was APLZOD6432.DLL, while on my problem computer it was APLZOD32.DLL.  Ah ha!  Its trying to setup Outlook 64 with a 32-bit iCloud DLL.  Or so I thought.
I looked for a 64-bit specific install for iCloud.  Nope, iCloud 1.1 is for both.  Hmmm...
I thought I had installed Office 2010 64-bit on my problem computer, but apparently I installed 32-bit.  I was able to confirm this by going into Outook, File and Help.  Under "About Microsoft Outlook" it said 32-bit.  Checking the working computer, it was showing 64-bit Outlook.
So this also brought another thought to my mind.  Maybe the problem is because I installed the iCloud control panel before I installed Office 2010.    That said, I uninstalled iCloud Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs), and re-installed it from the manual download page http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455 and tried contact syncing again.  It worked!
Then I went to check the DLL in use.  It was APLZOD32.DLL.  So perhaps iCloud sets up for 64-bit Office when no office is installed on Windows 7 64-bit and breaks when you install 32-bit.  Or there is a part of iCloud install that needs to be done with Office installed.  Either way, I'm happy to have the issue fixed.  Leaving the 32-bit Office there for now.

  • Since iCloud Control Panel 3 update, cannot enable Outlook add-in...Outlook crashes

I have been using the iCloud integration for some time now with my Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 PC. Since I did the recent upgrade to the iCloud control panel to the latest version 3.0, I can no longer use the integration. I have gone through all of the recommendations I could find on the subject, to no avail.
I have go to the add-ins center on Outlook, and have found the iCloud add-in has been disabled. I then re-enable it. I re-start Outlook, and get a crash message. I close it, then try to re-open Outlook. I get the message that the add-in is causing Outlook to not work, and am asked if I want to disable the add-in. If I select 'no', then I get another crash. I continue this, and eventually, I decide to check 'yes'. Outlook then works fine, but, of course, no iCloud integration. I have tried to sign out of iCloud, and back in (while Outlook is not running), bur ir does not help. I have tried unistalling iCloud control panel and re-installing it from a fresh download. Again, no luck.
I have tried to find an older version of the control panel to see if I can get back to where I was before the update, but cannot find it anywhere.
From the number of things I see on my web searches, this seems to be a common problem, but noone seems to have a good answer.
I am running an Ipad2 and an iPhone 4s on iCloud, as well as my desktop PC with Outlook. I really need to keep all my calendars and contacts sunk up via iCloud so I am not constantly trying to juggle schedules, etc.
I would appreciate any advice to help resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

  • Can't open iCloud Control Panel on PC

I have the iCloud Control Panel v3.1 installed on my Windows 7 64-bit system. It was working fine using Internet Explorer. I switched to Foxfire and when I attempt to activate the app I get the message "JavaScript is required. To use iCloud enable JavaScript in your browser and try again ... (popup at bottom of page states "Would you like to make Internet Explorer your default browser?")
When I look in the Foxfire Add-ins, there is only a Java Deployment Toolkit that is blocked because the plugin is noted to have security vulnerabilities.
I give up ... can anyone help guide me on this issue. I would really like to be able to access iCloud without having to use a bookmark each time. Windows Programs does not show any version of Java as having been installed.
    Thanks to anyone who responds.

Please first try to enable javascript in the about:config page. Javascript is not the same as Java.
In Firefox 23, as part of an effort to simplify the Firefox options set and protect users from unintentially damaging their Firefox, the option to disable JavaScript was removed from the Firefox Options window.
However, the option to disable JavaScript was not removed from Firefox entirely. You can still access it from about:config or by installing an add-on.
    '''about:config'''
    # In the address bar, type "about:config" (with no quotes), and press Enter.
    # Click "I'll be careful, I promise"
    # In the search bar, search for "javascript.enabled" (with no quotes).
    # Right click the result named "javascript.enabled" and click "Toggle". JavaScript is now disabled.
To Re-enable JavaScript, repeat these steps.
    '''Add-ons'''
You can alternatively install an add-on that lets you disable JavaScript, such as
*[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/noscript/ No-Script] (to disable JavaScript on a per page basis, as required)
*[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/quickjava/ QuickJava] (to easily disable and enable JavaScript, automatic loading of images, and other content)
*[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/settingsanity/ SettingSanity] (adds back removed options for JavaScript, Advanced JavaScript Settings, loading images, and showing the Tab Bar)
Thank you and I hope this helps!

    Hello darkhawk,
Thank you for the recommendation.  I somewhat understand what a MS DOS disk is, but I'm not sure how to go about creating one. I've seen where you can use a program, like Rufus, to create a usb one  - but I'm leery about using 3rd-party programs (especially ones I'm not familiar with). I've come across a couple of 'how-to' tuts, but they didn't clarify what files (if any) I would need to include on the disk (for my particular situation). Right now I don't have any blank cds, nor any extra flash/thumb drives - wish I did, but hadn't needed these for years. There has only been one other time where I needed to re-install Windows, but that was over 15 years ago - I did it through BIOS, reformatting my drives, and then reinstalled via the Windows XP disk. Windows 8 is an entirely different breed, which has left me feeling a bit stumped, at times. If there was a way I could perform it (successfully), similar to the first time I did it years ago, I'd give it a try - but at the same time, I'm a bit reluctant, because if it doesn't work, then I'm stuck without any internet access to get further help.
Ask and ye shall receive. This should be doable in Windows 7 and Windows 8 on another PC. I recommend using a USB Flash drive like in this tutorial, but I'm sure you could use something else.
If you want, you could also use Hiren's BootCD to make a bootable CD with many options and programs on it (I keep one, just for certain situations) that will allow you to do the same things.
    http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
Also very useful for sorting out virus's as long as it's downloaded and made on another PC that is virus free......

    Well.
    I reinstalled Win7 64bit, same issue.
    I installed Win7 32bit, installer doesn't run correctly.
Got a second new laptop, running Win7 Starter edition, 32bit, installer doesn't run correctly.
By run correctly I mean when you double click it, you get the busy cursor and some disk IO then nothing happens.
So....When's the next release of Itunes out?
Because the current one is a steaming pile of unworking crap.

Okay ... so it's not one of the cases of bodged up ACLs on the Apple folder in Common Files. (That's been underlying a few of the recalcitrant E7W5s.
Just in case, let's try the fixit from the following document:
