ICloud control panel freeze after applying settings

Just installed iTunes 10.5 and iCloud control panel 1.0 on my Windows 7 64-bit computer.
I am signed in with my Apple-ID but when I enable photo Stream and hit the Apply button the control panel freezes.
I have restarted the computer wish resulted in not being able to open the iCloud control panel again.
I have uninstalled/installed iCloud again and ended up on square one, it freezes.
Anyone experienced this and is there a solution to the problem?

Thanks for trying, but I do not have the folder "Preferences" under Apple Computer. If you can think of anything else to try, please let me know.

After update iCloud 1.0.1 control panel iTunes en Outlook 2010 freezes.
    What can I do?

Until Apple decides to accept responsibility and fix this issue you will need to get rid of iCloud. It's too bad because before Apple decided to throw out the patch/malware, it actually worked kind of neat. So, this is what I've done to regain control over Outlook and iTunes; re-boot the pc, launch iCloud control panel and sign out, saving data to your computer when asked. Under add/remove programs, un-install iCloud, re-boot again. Go to windows control panel under folder option, second tab (view) select "show hidden files, folders & drives" and select ok. Now double click on your "C" drive and do a "Control F" (for find). In the search box type APSDaemon.exe and hit search. Right click on this file and hit Delete sending it to your recycle bin. You may want to cut this file out of your recycle bin and place it in a temp folder until you are sure everything is working properly. You should now be able to use Outlook and iTunes without them hanging. In Outlook, under contacts you will need to move your contacts from iCloud contacts back to your default contacts folder. Under iCloud contacts do a "Control A" and drag your contacts back to their default location.
Hope this helps, in the future I will be vary leery of installing anymore Apple patches.

  • HT201317 Photostream to my Windows computer has stopped working. In icloud control panel, photostream is unchecked, I check it, hit options, nothing happens. I click apply and close. Next time I  open control panel, photostream is unchecked again! What ca

Photostream to my Windows 7 computer has stopped working. When I open icloud control panel, photostream has become unchecked even though it has been previously checked. I check it again but when I click options, nothing happens. I click apply and close, but next time I open the control panel, Photostream has become unchecked again. What can I do?

    Lisaglenoak:
When I first downloaded iCloud to my PC a little while back, Photo Stream initially worked. I was able to check/uncheck both boxes available to me, as well as click the Options tab to the right of Photo Stream. I could make changes, click "Apply", and everything was fine and dandy.
Within a day, I opened the iCloud Control Panel, and despite how many times I would uncheck Bookmarks, it didn't matter. I would click "Apply", and it would automatically ask me to sign in again. When I did this, Bookmarks would be checked again. Additionally, Photo Stream was grayed out; I was unable to check the box (which was unchecked), and I was unable to go to Options.
Somehow, I managed to get my iCloud Control Panel "unstuck", and currently, it is working fine. There are 2 steps that I did to accomplish this. The 1st step listed below may be the crucial element for those whose reinstallation of the program has not succeeded, in and of itself. It is a change that I haven't come across as a possible part of a solution to this problem; I just happened to stumble upon this whilst searching my PC for possible fixes to the problem.
Step 1: Find your iCloud File Folder. (On my PC, I clicked the Start button in the lower left corner, then clicked All Programs, and finally scrolled down to where all the folders for various "things" are.) Click the Folder and a sub-list will appear, with items such as Calendar, Mail, etc. Right-Click the iCloud Program icon, and at the bottom of the list that appears, click on Properties. At the top, there are 5 tabs. Click the Compatibility tab, and you should see, at the top, the following words: "If you have problems with this program and it worked correctly on an earlier version of Windows, select the compatibility mode that matches that earlier version." Following these words is a dropbox underneath "Compatibility Mode", and for some reason - I have no idea why this is - the box was initially checked to run the program in compatibility mode for "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". (And from what I understand, Windows XP is not a compatible Windows Edition for iCloud, so I have no idea why this box was checked.) If the box underneath "Compatibility Mode" is checked, than it is running iCloud in compatibility mode for any number of earlier Windows' Editions. Uncheck this box, click the "Apply" button, and then click "OK".
Step 2: Find your PC's Control Panel. (On my PC, I clicked the Start button in the lower left corner, and then clicked Control Panel in the list to the right.) In the Control Panel, click Programs. Under Programs and Features, Click "Uninstall a program" (and bear with me here, because you are actually not going to uninstall iCloud). Now, scroll down the list and find "iCloud". Double-click the "iCloud" icon, and a panel with 2 options should appear: "Repair" and "Remove". Check the "Repair" box, which will reinstall the same iCloud Control Panel, replacing missing or damaged files. ("Remove" will just .. well ... remove iCloud from the computer - or, if you prefer, uninstall the program.) Click Next, and the repairing process will begin and end. And that is it - you're done. Task Completed.
Well, in the end, this worked for me. Photo Stream was no longer grayed out. I could permanently uncheck Bookmarks (finally). The Options tab for Photo Stream would open. Anytime that I clicked the "Apply" button after checking/unchecking boxes, it wouldn't ask me to sign in again (only to come back to a Control Panel that looked just like it did before I made any changes to it.). And, I created a Shared Photo Stream on my phone using photos from my Camera Roll (to test the program), and the Shared Photo Stream appeared on my PC's Photo Stream in no time. Hopefully, this will work for you too (regardless of the Windows Edition you are currently using).     ~ Brian

  • Itunes 10.6 and 10.7 crash after installing icloud control panel

I recently upgraded itunes 10.6 to 10.7 on my windows home server 2011 computer and also installed iCloud control panel 2.0.  After the upgrade itunes crashes within a few seconds of starting.  I can see the status bar saying that itunes is accessing the store and then the itunes window goes away.  I tried removing the icloud control panel, but itunes still crashes.  I completely removed itunes and all related components and then reinstalled 10.6.  At this point itunes works again so I tried reinstalling the iCloud control panel and not upgrading itunes, but itunes again crashes.  So, it seems that regardless of the itunes version I can't run itunes and iCloud on windows home server 2011.  Any ideas on a solution?

An update to my earlier post.  I just upgraded to itunes 10.7 and icontrol panel 2.0 again, but before upgrading I turned off automatic downloads in the store preferences.  I was able to launch itunes and even click on the store without itunes crashing until I launched the icloud control panel and logged in.  Now if I click on the store in itunes it crashes.  I tried logging out of icloud, but it still crashes, but only when i click on the itunes store.  The error I see in windows event viewer is below.  I've seen this error referenced in other posts, but have not found a solution yet.  At least itunes is partially functional now.

  • How do i remove the settings and preferences of the iCloud Control Panel?

I had problems with my Office 365 (Outlook 2013) and making it work with iCloud. I repaired the install of my office 2013, but the iCloud Control Panel keeps giving me an error as it thinks the icloud integration for Outlook 2013 is still installed....which it isnt.
I cannot revert to the setting i had with only Photostream active.
The only solution was to uninstall the iCloud Control Panel. I tried deleting some files from users->roaming->apple, which looked like preference files. But after reinstalling iCloud Control Panel, it immediately opened the old setting which it remembered somehow and uninstalling didnt deletet, stating the faulty Office connection is active...which it isnt.
Pity i cant even now use photostream, to have my images on my desktop. I know i should buy a mac..where you can jus simply delete preference files from the user library. But does anyone know how to really delete every install history of the iCloud Control Panel on a pc. So i can do a clean install and start using photostream again
    Any help is much appreciated

thank you for taking the time to reply to my issue. was there something i did that caused this to happen and if so, can i undo it? a second problem has now surfaced; i cannot get my firefox to load. i tried the suggestion in an article on this site i.e., to bring up the Task Manager and end the process for firefox.exe so i can uninstall/reinstall the firefox application. this does not work for me. HELP! i'd much rather use firefox than explorer.

  • ICloud Control Panel - Outlook 2007

My Outlook 2007 crashes constantly after Update to iCloud Control Panel 3.0 for Windows (Windows 7)!
    What can i do?

Hi everyone. I have been working this same problem for some time now. This PC is Win8 with MS Outlook 2010. After repeatedly repairing and reinstalling the iCloud Control Panel - you'd think I would have realized this approach wasn't going to work. Finally I did!
To fix the problem, uncheck all iCloud selections, Remove all iCloud references in Outlook and then enable iCloud mail. Later you can enable Books and Photos.
    More explicitly;
In the iCloud Control Panel uncheck Mail Book and Photos
Click Apply and then click Close.
    Next open MS Outlook
Go to Outlook Account Settings, remove all references to iCloud.
    Close Outlook.
Reopen the iCloud Control Panel, nothing should be checked.
    Check “Mail, Contacts, ...”
    Click apply
    iCloud started configuring Outlook. J
    Hope this works for you.

  • Icloud control panel does not install properly but only when trying to sync with Outlook 2010.  If I try to sync photos, etc. it works just fine

Downloaded icloud control panel to Win 7.  Everything seems ok until you "apply" synching at the icloud control panel.  Then you get an error message that says "icloud control panel did not install properly".  Repairing in Windows control panel as suggested does not help.  If you do not try to sync Outlook data (2010) then it seems to work just fine.

I was able to finally stop ITunes from crashing after many days of searching n restarting my computer many times.
    a) First I went to this site ->http://forums.techarena.in/guides-tutorials/1119812.htm that showed me how to disable DPE. Please make sure that u have good virus...etc.. protection first before doing this. I have Avast Internet Security. RESTART UR COMPUTER..
    b) I then uninstall ITunes by following this site ->http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923      RESTART UR COMPUTER..
    c) I then downloaded a beta version of ITunes. I happen to download beta 7 before the final of 10.5 version came out. Installed it. After installing I click on it n it said somewhere along the line of "this ITune ver. expired" I checked in my Programs n Features n notice that QuickTime was installed w that beta version.
    d) Go online n download the final version of ITunes ->http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ...... After u finish dling install that. After that's done connect your IPod, IPhone...etc... n click on ITunes, it should sync all the way.
I was finally able to sync all thru the steps insteading of it crashing on me midway. Hopefully this will work for you. Good luck !

  • ICloud Control Panel

    Hi,
So I have used the MobileMe and iCloud control panels on a number of windows machines in my life and have previously been very happy with the service syncing all my bookmarks. However 3 months ago I change jobs and so have a new PC. Its a 64-bit HP Z400 Workstation running Windows 7 Professional. I am told it never had a copy of iCloud control panel on it before I started.
I successfully downloaded and ran the installer (I have admin privileges, but must always confirm actions via the Windows User Access Control pop-ups), which completes and asked to restart the computer. Once restarted the iCloud login dialog box/window appears. My iCloud account was created way back when it was MobileMe, so I have "@mac.com", "@me.com" and "@icloud.com" versions of my long in email address but they all work online and one my iPad/iPhone/Macbook Pro so I don't believe it matters, but for the record I have tried all of them.
If I enter the email address or password incorrectly I get an error so there is some kind of connection and identity check going on as otherwise it wouldn't be able to tell either of them were wrong. When the email address and password are entered correctly, and the "Sign In" button is pressed, the spinning loading progress fan/wheel appears by the button, but after that nothing happens. I have left it this like this for hours but still nothing.
I have done some investigation but have no idea what it means. I have tried running the iCloud Setup Installer as the Administrator but there is no difference. An interesting observation is that you can expand the standard installer package using Winrar and there are 2 msi files inside iCloud and iCloud64, however if you then run iCloud64 it installs as normal but when you look in task manager, the version of the iCloud.exe process that is running when you try to log in is 32-bit.
I have added all the executable components of iCloud listed in this post (iCloud: Making sure that iCloud works with security software in Windows) as "allow connection" rules to my Windows Firewall settings, but this didn't make any difference either. However I'm convinced it will be a permissions issue. Something, either a background executable or service, isn't installed properly or doesn't have the right access rights to do what it needs to do to allow the control panel to connect properly. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a consequence of Apple dropping Safari for Windows this year, as its just too much of a coincidence.
Reading all the other listings on this support community it sounds as if Apple don't really care about this issue which seems to be effecting a lot of PC users and just hide behind the "its obviously a problem with our PC" as to why their software doesn't work properly, while our IT support (and Microsoft, and HP) belittle the need to sync bookmarks and say "its obviously a problem with the installer". I'd be interested to know if it was a Mac running Windows 7, whether they would be more or less helpful.
So, anyone got any ideas? i have seen lots of posts from people with miracle cures linked to random programs that they uninstalled, but they don't help me as this is a work machine and apart from Adobe CS5, Mircosoft Office, and Google Chrome there isn't anything else on it to cause conflicts.

Windows XP is not supported with iCloud.
From Creating an iCloud account: Frequently Asked Questions
You’ll need at least iOS 5 or later, OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later, or Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista (SP2) or later to use iCloud.   (emphasis mine)
    Also see iCloud: System requirements
It is downloaded from iCloud Control Panel 2.1.1 for Windows

  • HT201077 Why is my photo stream greyed out in the iCloud Control Panel.

Why is my photo stream greyed out in the iCloud Control Panel?

I had the same problem. I think it must be caused by the fact that i bought a charger in Apple Store Tokyo, and then entered my email address on the warranty form. Ever since emails in Japanese started appearing. When I now enabled Shared Photo Streams, my friends got invitations from me in Japanese too.
I was looking everywhere for language settings, but they all seemed in order. On iCloud that is.
It turns out it was the language settings on my apple-ID, not my iCloud-ID that was wrong, after a purchase at Apple Store Tokyo. Who would have thought that these two IDs were related? Or maybe they should be, but then why are they not even more integrated? Duplicate language settings?
    This solved the problem:
    1. Log into appleid.apple.com
    2. Set the language.
The real problem however, is that Apple changed my language after a visit to an Apple Store. Come on! I already had a Norwegian apple-ID, a Norwegian credit card, and a Norwegian address. What could possibly make you think that I suddenly spoke Japanese? Ever happened that a tourist visited an Apple Store? Companies needs to learn that customers can make their own decisions, and often do, or want to do it, if they are allowed to do so. Examples of features that was designed not considering this fact: The play button on a Mac always launching iTunes, even though I'm already playing music in Spotify (and never use iTunes for music). Or Spotifys obsession with reporting everything you listen to, turning off the Private Session after 6 hours, so you have to make that setting every time you start playing music.

  • ICloud control panel not syncing with outlook 2013

I have installed iCloud on windows 7 64-bit. after installation it asked if I want to sync with outlook my mail , contacts etc. so I selected the option to sync and clicked apply.
The program said that it needs to setup mail, contacts etc with outlook 2013 and the loading gif started to work , then I click on close .
when I open outlook 2013 i do not see my icloud folder or contacts .
    am I missing something here?
PS. I tried to uninstall and re install icloud control panel with the same effect.
    Kindly can anyone help

In Outlook 2013, I navigated to "People" and copied the contacts that I wanted to sync from the "Contacts" folder to the "Search Results" folder (<ctrl>+[drag and drop] to folder in left hand Folder pane).
iTunes then synchronised those contacts (only) fine.

  • ICloud Control Panel: "Couldn't sign in because of a server error."

    iCloud Control Panel:
Installation of icloud control panel was successfull. After entering the correct Apple-ID and pw this error message appears: "Couldn't sign in because of a server error."
    Firewall is deactivated.
It worked once after the command: "netsh winsock reset" in cmd.
Since then the issue reoccures so it's impossible for me to use things like Photo Stream.
So what might be the reason for this connection problem?
    Thanks!
    Johnny

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • ICloud control panel setup/Outlook

    Hi,
    I actually have two questions:
    1. I have the iCloud control panel on my Windows 8. I have already setup an iCloud email address, but when I click on the three boxes for Mail, Bookmarks, and Photos and hit apply, I get an error message that says "Setup can't continue because Outlook is not configured to have a default profile." I tried adding my iCloud email into Outlook itself, but that was a failure. How do I fix this and continue setting up the iCloud control panel?
    2. On my iPhone into the iCloud settings, it has my previous apple ID as the Account. On my Windows 8 and on iCloud.com, it has my new apple ID as the account name. I noticed in my photo stream folder on my laptop, it only has pictures up until I changed my ID. I'm sure it would be much easier to just connect my iPhone via USB cable, but I'd really like to fix this. How do I get my old apple ID off my iCloud settings in my phone and change it to the new one?
    Thanks in advance!

Your first question should be researched on Microsoft's support forums.  This may get you started as it discusses how to create and configure an Outlook profile: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918.
On your second question, to change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • ICloud control panel hangs on login.

Just put a new HDD in my Wife's early 2009 Macbook & did a fresh install of Mountain Lion - everything is FANTASTIC, very zippy, lots of nice changes, etc. with one exception: when I open the iCloud control panel in System Preferences to set up her account all my options are greyed out & I have to enter her Apple ID password.  The correct Apple ID is displayed (she only has one, no .mac or .me e-mail addresses, etc.) but after entering the password it simply spins the little "progress" wheel & hangs indefinately.  Never freezes, I can cancel & go back to business as usual, but I have left it chugging away for up to 8hrs with nothing happening.  When I attempt to log in to iCloud via the Safari inteface, its no sweat, but it only has her old data, nothing from the new install, no updates, etc.  Her Apple ID seems to be working perfectly in every other situation I could think to test - she can successfully log in to iMessage, the App store, etc.  I tried deleting her Keychain data as I'd seen that mentioned in another thread, but no luck. . . Suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

I had the same problem. Examining the console log showed that I needed to agree to some terms of service, but no terms of service showed up to agree to. On the iCloud panel I signed out and then signed in again. I had to agree to remove a bunch of stuff to sign out. When I signed in again the terms of service panel showed up and I was finally able to log in. Hope this helps!
    Some error text from console:
    com.apple.iCloudHelper:
    ErrorID = "MOBILEME_TERMS_OF_SERVICE_UPDATE"
description = "This account needs to accept the ToS"
(even though mobileme is gone, I guess the errors haven't been updated)

  • ICloud Control panel installs, but says installation failed

I installed iCloud on my PC about 5 months ago. PC is Win7 32 bit. Worked FINE ... my MS Outlook contacts were copied to my iPad perfectly.
Noticed that in OUTLOOK, my contacts were in the cloud and NOT in Outlook anymore ... but did not care.
Today I auto-archived Outlook, and now my connection to the Cloud is GONE.
Uninstalled and reinstalled iCloud (2.1.1.3) ... but when I run iCloud Control Panel, and CLICK the Outlook mail and contacts button in the control panel, I get an error that says iCloud is not installed correctly ... and that I should go to Windows Program Settings and "Repair" it ... which I do ... but I get the same error over and over... even after a fresh install.
So now my MS Outlook has ZERO contacts, and I cannot see my "me.com" email in Outlook anymore
It WAS working great. Now it does not work at all.
    MYSTIFIED.

    I uninstalled iCloud Control Panel 2.1.1.3 ...
Then INSTALLED version 1.1 - found it on another board ...
    http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Appl e_Software_Updates/Mac_OS_X/downloads/041-3559.20120307.Kys3e/iCloudSetup.exe
version 2 has ONE check box for Outlook that includes "mail, contacts, calendar ..."
version 1 has SEPARATE check boxes for each item
I suspect that when I was running v2 connected to my Outlook (and it was running FINE) ... I archived ... and this somehow broke the connection to mail, and the entire app refused to "install correctly"
Interestingly, I could NOT successfully re-install v2, even a FRESH install! (maybe something about the icloud pst?)
Anyway ... v1 installed easily, I selected ONLY Contacts for sync, and it worked. I am not interested in reading my iCould email inside Outlook anyway ... if I really need to see iCloud email on my pc, I can use the iCloud.com website.
I have what I want - sync'd contacts between iPhone, iPad and Outlook.
Now ... I am wondering WHY Apple rolled out v2 ...
