Icloud deleted 2nd phone contacts and apps
I connected to iCloud when upgrading my iPhone 4 to v5 s/w.
I also upgraded my wife's iPhone 3 to v5 s/w. She uses the same iTunes account to download apps, songs. All her stuff was backed up to iTunes during the upgrade.
I went ahead and connected her phone to iCloud. As recommended by the "no warning about the problems that lie ahead" encouraging message.
It has replaced all of her contacts with mine. It has replaced all of her apps with mine.
iTunes knows that we have 2 phones and handles it fine.
I assumed (foolishly) that iCloud would do the same.
Please advise - is there a way to get her contacts and apps back??

I had my iCloud setup by the Geniuses at WillowBend Apple Store in Plano, TX
and yet one day my work calendar disappeared...wasn't on iCloud...wasn't in the backup
Apple engineers spent a day and restored everything but the last 2 months of data (irreplaceable data).
Despite calls several times a week to my appointed 'senior advisor'....no response as to where my data went and why it did that...
the obvious answer is that iCloud is not dependable..it is buggy..and either there are only two possible reasons Apple will not respond to my inquiries....they know why the data was lost but won't reveal it or two, they don't know and that scares them even more....but, it is a crappy thing not to even respond to me in over 2 weeks.
But heh...as long as Tim Cook gets a tingle up his leg opening nice beautiful Apple Stores....who are we to compalin

ICloud deleted all my contacts and photos. How can I get it back?
All my contacts and photos from my iPhone and from my ICloud webpage are gone.
I have an ICloud backup from yesterday morning so i tried restoring, but my contacts disappeared again after a few seconds. It says that i have 1000 photos, but I can't see them. All the pictures are grey and when I click on one it just says "loading" and nothing happens.
I kept getting a message to enter my ICloud password, so i did and maybe that could be the reason, or maybe it's because I charged my phone on my new macbook and it somehow deleted it all.
I don't have an ITunes backup, but if I have an old ICloud backup, shouldn't it be possible to get it all back?

Photos don't restore from back up, they restore after back up has completed, so it's quite normal to have to wait a while, especially if you don't have a reliable network.
To restore from a back up made through iTunes, follow these instructions.
To restore from a back up made through iCloud, try the following:
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now. -

Keep the existing ID for yourself and either give the kids their own individual accounts or check out the new family plan.

My 16gb iPhone 4S keep tell me that my storage is almost full and I don't have enough space for any upgrades. I don't have any music or videos on my phone. What is the precise wording of the message that is occurring?
Are you attempting to update via iTunes on a computer or over the air on the device?
How much free space is actually on the device?
If updating via iTunes on the computer, how much free space on the computer? -
if i update my i phone from 5.1 to 6.0, does my contacts and apps remain in my phone or it will be deleted?
i m a new user in itunes i have selected option of back up and its shows the same that back up has been taken but where the actual file is backed up.

Is it possible to set up my iPhone 5 as a new phone and sync ONLY my contacts and apps from my iPhone 4? Or do I have to set up my iPhone 5 by using my iPhone 4 backup (I'd rather not)?
Contacts are not stored in a backup, so a restore will not bring them in. Contacts, along with all the other Apple databases (log into icloud.com with a browser and look at the various pages - this is what I call the Apple databases) are contained in their own locations on the servers. You should be able to take a new device, go to Settings>iCloud, log in to the icloud account, then turn on the services (e.g. contacts) you want to sync. They will then be synced to the device. That has nothing to do with a restore and with the old iphone 4. As for apps, their listing and locations on the screens are stored in a backup. If you don't restore, then go to the itunes app store, look under Purchased Apps and download them again.

You have data corruption. restore your phone and set it up as a new device. Not from backup

My grandson deleted my phone, contacts, email and one other icon from the bottom of my iPhone 4s screen. How do I recover them????? HELP!!!!
If they are in a folder, tap the folder and tap and hold the icon and move it out of the folder and on to the screen you wish. If they are on a different screen, tap and hold the icon until it wiggles, then move it to the edge of the screen and hold for a second or two until it jumps to he adjacent screen.

When I sync my phone I get my husband's phone contact list, apps, etc and the same happens when he syncs his phone. It does recognize our phones as different users so how can I stop this from happening when we sync?
Did you tick the box in iTunes to sync with the Mac address book? Are you using the same user account on your Mac, with the same contacts in the same address book?

In this case you would have to reset your new device (Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings) in order to restore it from a backup during the device setup.

My non-so-techno missus has my old iPhone 4S, deleted all my contacts and put hers in, then backed up to iCloud (mine) so now I have all her contacts on my 5s.....any ideas?
iCloud isn't a backup where Contacts etc. are concerned, it's a syncing service. Any changes you make on any device connected to it are transmitted to iCloud and then to other devices. If your son signed into your iCloud account and deleted contacts then that's the same as if you had deleted contacts on your own device. I'm afraid that as far as iCloud is concerned, deleted is deleted. If you don't have an independent backup such as Time Machine, or a backup of your iOS device on iCloud or iTunes, then you can't retrieve your data. If you had made a backup of your iOS device you can restore that - it will restore the entire backup so any changes made subsequent to the backup will be lost.

I have 2 iphones that share the same apple ID I do not want them to share contacts and apps how can I change this?
You can use separate AppleIDs for iCloud, iMessage and iTunes - you just need to create unique AppleIDs for the iCloud accounts if syncing contacts that way (you will need an email address that is not already registered as an AppleID though to get another AppleID).
Apps are a different matter in that purchases are tied to the AppleID used to log in to the store to make the purchase. So you can create another AppleID for iTunes as well and use different ones on the different phones, but any apps you have already purchased with your existing AppleID are permanently tied to that AppleID.
Really, unless you are sharing apps, content and such, there is no reason to use the same AppleID on each anyway. So the simplest solution is to create new AppleID(s) for the second device. If you need an email address to do that, just get a gmail account (or hotmail, yahoo or any other free email account). -
