ICloud deleted Calendar and Adressbook

After I activated iCloud on my iPhone 3GS (iOS 5 Update) all my Calendar and Adressbook entries were deleted. How do I restore them??? iCloud also says that the last back-up failed, so where is all my data???

No error messages at all. Everything gets synced when doing an iTunes sync, except the Calendar and AdressBook...
And it does not get pushed by MobileMe..

I do not use iCloud. Here is what happened when I upgraded to Mavericks.
Backed up computer (thank God!)
Downloaded/installed Mavericks
Installation required Apple sign-in, which signed into iCloud
Changed System Preferences after installation to disable iCloud (for Calendar, etc.)
iCloud deleted Calendar, etc. data from computer... Gone from the computer. No option to keep my data.
If I sign back into iCloud (to get my data back!) It again deletes when I turn off iCloud...
I did not choose to use iCloud, merely upgraded to Mavericks and was forced to sign in. My data was deleted from the computer. My data, my computer.
Question:
Without restoring image backup (SuperDuper) or finding/restoring everything in Time Machine, how might I get my (kidnapped) data back from iCloud then turn iCloud off non-destructively?
I love many things Apple, but iCloud has cast a huge shadow over my love of Apple.

...and yes, I know that if I re-enable iCloud (God forbid!) that I could File->Export->Export all the Calendars, Reminders, Contacts, (hope I get everything)..... But I shouldn't have to export my own data from a single computer to protect it from an upgrade-required "feature".
So I'm hoping for an option to keep my data without having to protect myself from an upgrade...

You don't need a computer to activate a new iOS device anymore. Anything with iOS 5 can be activated over a WiFi network (or cellular if that applies).

Calendar and Adressbook error: Duplicate records found for GUID

i have a Mountaion Lion Server running on a mac mini and everything was working well.
This morning one user of mine is unable to connect to his calendar and adressbook.... i found this error in the log files:

Ready for resale First Generation iPad. Need to delete calendars and iBooks on iPad. Downloaded all info in iTunes. If I delete iBooks on the iPad only will it also delete all info in iTunes iBook purchases and downloads. I have backed up my calendars in MacBookPro. Please advise.

To wipe clean you have 2 options
1: Connect and select iPad in computer iTunes, in Summary tab, click Restore button.
2. iPad's Settings > General > Reset > Rest All Content and Settings.

Using iCloud (for calendar and contacts) AND MobileMe for Keychain

Does anyone who's migrated to iCloud know if it's possible to sync Address Book and Calendar through iCloud and the Keychain through MobileMe (on a separate account)?
Situation is as follows:
I have two accounts - one MobileMe (which I use today for calendar and contact syncing) and an Apple ID (which I used for iTunes)
I wish to convert the iTunes account to an iCloud account
That leaves me with my un-converted MobileMe which I'd like to continue to use for Keychain syncing until Apple puts that functionality in iCloud or they retire MobileMe.
I guess - the nub of the question is - is it still possible to access the MobileMe preference pane and put in a different account when iCloud is up and syncing?

I've looked at the iDisk and there's no way to do it automatically. However when you're back at your home iMac, you can copy the files that you find in ~/Library/Keychains onto your iDisk. Then when you're at your friend's iMac, you can copy the *.keychain files in your iDisk to the ~/Library/Keychain folder on your friend's machine (in the account that you're using).
That way - you can open your keychain locally - although it won't sync backwards and forwards. An alternative is to use a third-party product such as 1Password - of which there's an iPad app - as well as a web interface (when combined with Dropbox).

That's where you're going wrong. Firstly the syncing method that MobileMe used, which places the icon in the menu bar, is quite different from the iCloud method and is irrelevant. Secondly, you're confusing the Time Machine icon with it.
On this Mac you need to set up in System Preferences>iCloud in the same way, then the syncing is automatic. In iCal on both machines you should see in the Calendar list your calendars listed unrer 'iCloud', and your calendars should be visible at http://icloud.com (and choose Calendar in the welcome screen).
If they aren't visible online, go to http://me.com/calendar - you should not be able to see them there. If you can, you haven't migrated.

How to delete calendar and contacts from iPod Touch

I have sold my iPod Touch and did a restore before I send it to the buyer. I was able to delete everything except my contacts and calendar info. I have the software upgrade and do not want to lose this! Other than going in and deleting each item one by one, is there another way to get that info off of the iPod. And, I did uncheck all of the boxes in iTunes for calendar, contacts, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The software upgrade is tied to your iTunes account, not the your iPod. It'll stay on as long it doesn't have to be restored, but once the buyer restores it, there'll be no way for him to get it back.
Still, if you completely restore it, the contacts shouldn't be on there anymore.

I found on mine when the notes were not syncing that for some reason the settings got changed on my iphone to sync to AOL??????? I did not do this and do not know how it happened. After I changed to ICloud and then looked the notes did go to ICloud. Unfortunately, now I can't sign into ICloud on one of my PC's and can on the other as I left myself signed in but can't access Notes as an error message says "problem loading application". All this has been quite frustrating and has been ongoing for about 3 weeks.!!!!
Apple doesn't seem to have a handle on all of this or is ignoring the support network!!!

Calendar, Notes and Adressbook are not syncing with iPod classic

My iPod isn´t syncing my calendar, my notes and my adressbook.
When the iPod is connected and I check it in the Finder, then iCal, Adressbook and Notes are on the iPod and seem to have been properly synced, but after disconnecting, none of them are shown on the iPod.
What I tried so far is: updating the iPod-software, emptying the iPod and reloading it.
I tried the five steps to rebuild an iPod, but nothing helped.
I checked iCal for wrong Birthday-Dates and removed the one I found. But nothing changed.
I checked the User/Library and System/Library and removed the p.lists of iCal and Adressbook.
I build a new User and a small Adressbook and a little iCal, which was properly synced to my iPod at that point. I went back to the user, me, and did the same. Calendar and Adressbook were working fine. But after reloading my music in addition to the data already on the iPod, no Adressbook or iCal was displayed anymore.
I brought the iPod to a service-center, and they couldn´t find anything. But after reloading my music and Adressbook and iCal, none of the latter ones were displayed again.
I can´t say, when iCal started not working properly, but it might have lasted two months now. Adressbook was running well at that time.
Can anyone help me?

Calendars shouls sync if you have an iCloud account and have checked the box for calendars in the System Preference/iCloud area.
I do not think there is anyway to use Reminders with Calendar. They do not sync between the MBP and an IOS device. I would think this would be important but they failed to do it.

Change Icloud in Imac and Iphone

My Icloud account on my Imac and Iphone are made with the first Apple ID I had based on the emailaddress I had at that time, I have changed email address and have changed that in Itunes - but because the email address no longer exist and I can't remember my password I can't restore the password as the emailaddress no longer exist - so I am stocked, I cant access the account and change anything and I can't change the password to get access - i Keep getting Icloud warnings on my devices that Icloud do not work but I can't access and change anything.
Do anyone know what to do ?

Hey all, I had the same problem. Everyone seemed to have different solutions that worked for them--but not for me . Here's what actually fixed my problem.
1. Force quit iCal and Reminders.
2. On your computer, unlink Calendars and Reminders from iCloud:
> System Preferences > iCloud > Uncheck Calendars AND Reminders
(I did this because my Reminders uses my Calenders; I set deadlines for reminders, etc. Also, because my reminders weren't syncing with my iCloud as they should.)
3. It'll ask if you want to delete the calendar and reminder events from your computer. Say yes because you should already have the most up-to-date copy on your iCloud.
4. Open iCal. It should no longer display the "moving calendars to server account" message.
5. Add your iCloud account to iCal.
> Calendar > Add Account... > iCloud > Sign in with Apple ID and PW
6. Give it a minute to update. You should see all your iCloud calendar events with no error message.
7. Quit iCal. Open Reminders.
8. Add your iCloud account to Reminders.
> Reminders > Add Account... > iCloud > Sign in with Apple ID and PW
9. Test the two programs by adding test events and reminders to see if they show up on your iPhone and your Macbook.
It worked for me!

Apple have not announced any such plans. It was the same during the whole MobileMe period from 2008 - 2012, so it doesn't seem to be a high priority issue for Apple.
