  • TS4009 Deleting contacts on iPhone...do they delete from iCloud too?

I am new to Apple products but have a delima...my stepson transferred contacts from his old phone to the new one then started deleting the contacts on the old one only to find that they were being deleted from his new iPhone. Is there anyway to get all that back from "iCloud"? Very lost and confused. I'm hoping there is good news for us!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately once you have deleted contacts from your iCloud account, there is no way to recover them from the iCloud account directly. If you have a backup of the contacts on a computer somewhere you may be able to recover them.

  • How to delete contacts from iPhone and update changes to PC after synch?

I spend a lot of time deleting old/unwanted/duplicated contacts on iPhone. Then I synch with PC through iTunes and I get two options: 1. MERGE or 2. Replace contacts on iPhone with PC information. If I click MERGE then all those contacts I deleted come back to my iPhone. MERGE seems to be a merely 'collapse' information feature...whether is from PC to iPhone or viceversa.
Obviously I don't want to replace my iPhone contacts with those in PC, because then I will loose all those pictures I took to my contacts...also, all the time spent assigning pictures to contacts will go to trash can.
This is kind of irritating...am I the only one having this problem? Active Synch for SmartPhones or Pocket PC nailed this down beautifully (it knows where the latest/most updated information happened and keeps that one).
    Help please.

Thank you for trying to help.
I don't want to replace the information on my iPhone because in my iPhone where i have the most updated information (pictures assigned to contacts and deleted duplicated/unwanted contacts)...I would like to replace the contacts on my PC instead.
After doing what you are suggesting will I be able to replace information on my PC? Is this what you mean?
    Thank you.

  • Is there a way to recover deleted contacts on iPhone?

I desperately need to get deleted conbtacts back from my iPhone, I don't have a recent backup to restore to the phone!  I'm not entirely sure how they got deleted. I think it may have been when I plugged my phone into my friends laptop to charge it. She was having laptop troubles, not sure if that is the reason for the difficulties but, I really realy need to get my deleted contacts back, all but four have disappeared.

Have you tried to recover data from backup files . Yes ,you can extract contacts from iphone backup files. But you can extract iphone backup by virtue of some tool ,like Coolmuster iOS Extractor .You can use it to scan the lost data and choose what you want to recover. It can recover photos, videos, messages with high quality and quickly way.

  • Icloud deleted contacts?!

I just upgrade from MobileMe to Icloud. My calendar is working fine. However, almost 98% of my contacts have disappeared - both on my iPhone4 and my icloud.com contacts.
How do I get my contacts back, please?

On your iPhone tap Settings > iCloud
Toggle Contacts off then back on then restart the iPhone.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

  • Deleted contacts from iphone 4s, loaded new contacts from to phone from .csv file.  then I enabled icloud and it put all my old contacts back.

My wife and I both have Iphones.  For the past 18 months her phone and mine had the same appleID (mine).  When I set up iCLoud backups and synch a month ago, my wifes phone ended up with all my contacts (1400+) and her's (<100) mixed together.  Didn't bother me, but drover her wild trying to find 'her' contacts.
Oviously she needed to have her own appleID on her phone.
After a lot of googling around I found the "Import Export Contacts" app.  It works great.  I opens a Service to a browser screen on a computer and can upload/download to/from the phone.
I downloaded my copy of the combined contact list.  I found her's reletively easily by sorting on 'date changes' column.
On her phone I deleted the contact file. and set up her own appleID
I created a .csv with her contacts only and moved it into her phone. then set up the phone to manage contacts in the icloud properties screen.
All her (and my) contacts came back.  I thought when I deleted the contacts on her phone, the iclud synch woudl deleted them on icloud and then when I loaded ne contaces on her phone it would sych with icloud and all woudl be right with teh world.
What can I do next?  I can give her her phone with her old contacts and not backup with icloud, but then she could lose her

If you don't have a backup of the newer information then you don't

  • Want to recover accidentally deleted contacts from iPhone.

Is there is any way that I could recover my contacts. My sister deleted some contacts by accident. I want to find those contacts back because they are very important to me. Thank you!

Have you got any backups of your iPhone data before? If you have backed up iPhone data to iTunes or iCloud previously, you can easily get back your contacts from iTunes or iCloud.

  • HT1766 emergency help needed to recover deleted contacts from Iphone

Here is the situtation that occured that resulted in deleting all the 500+ contacts in my iphone
A couple of days ago, I went to the mobile phone store and bought an iphone 4s upgrade package. I have been using an iphone 3s for the late couple of years.
recently I upgraded the software of the old iphone and received the icloud software and  backed up all the data to the cloud.
Now during the upgrade to the iphone 4s the shop assistant set up the new phone and transfered the sim etc to the new phone, I was unaware that the new iphone was now a clone of my old iphone with all my old data and a live sync to the icloud and itunes etc.
When I got home I decided that I would give the new phone to my wife, so I proceeded to delete all the data off the new phone, this involved manually deleting all 500+ contacts in the address book, bar a few close friends that my wife knows, to safe her reentering the data.
What I did not know was that the phone was syncing to the icloud/itunes everytime i hit delete and deleted a contact from the icloud and also from my old iphone that I am still using, so now I have 2 x iphones with no contact data.
I have lost 15years of accumulated business and personal contact info, 75% of which I have no way of recovering from other sources.
My obvious questions is, is there any way of restoring my iphone's contact data from an earlier version of the the auto sync backup ie from 2 days ago ie the 18th June 2012 and not the sync'd backup from today or this evening?
OR is my life lost for ever?
    can anyone help?
    Thanks and regards
    John

Unless you backed up somewhere else before deleting the contacts and not since, i.e. iTunes on your computer, sorry but no.  The backups are overwritten each time there is changed data - old backups on iCloud aren't saved.
There is no way to restore any data deleted from an iOS device if it isn't in an available backup.

  • Deleted contacts on Iphone and time capsule backup retrieval

I am having issues with my iphone contacts erasing phone numbers from the entries.
Many of the entries have a facebook "script" added to the contact info.....its as if Facebook synced with my phone and deleted all the phone numbers from the contacts?  Could this be possible.
I have TimeCapsule and dont know how to do two things..
    1. sync my iphone with my address book on my macbook pro.....
I thought this happened auto with mobile me....but entries in my Address book are not the same as on my iphone....
    2. go into time capsule and get backed up contacts from 2 months ago before this started to happen and put them back in Addressbook......Assuming that I can then sync the address book on macbook to the iphone and restore everything or at least 98% of everything....
this is really frustrating and I called mac and the guy i Spoke with could not even tell me how to retrieve anything from the time capsule....

You can't selectively choose which data included with your iPhone's backup is restored on your iPhone from the backup. It is all or none.
Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. With Windows this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with syncing calendar events, or with Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.
iTunes includes a general preference option to not automatically sync when any iPod or iPhone is connected. iTunes > Preferences under the Devices tab.

  • ICloud deleted contacts from 4s

I have managed to lose all of my contacts from my 4s whilst setting up my old 3gs for my girlfriend, I inserted her sim  and my contacts were still there, I began to delete my contacts from this phone, it was after I had done this I noticed that all of my contacts that were on my 4s had been deleted and replaced with her contacts. It now appers that her contacts are in the cloud as my original contacts have just been replaced on my iPad with her contacts. Is there any way of retrieving my contacts?

I had a similar problem a few times, and usually after a while they just kind of come back for no reason. I am searching for a way restore them immediately, but I just haven't figured out how yet. But definitely pugging in your phone and restoring it with the iCloud, on the computer you usually upload to, does help.

  • Deleted contacts on iphone

I have deleted all the contact details from my husbands iphone. Even worse - I now realise that he has no back-up/has never synced the phone with the Mac!!!!
Is there any way to undo what I have done? ASAP!
    Lorraine

I had a situation where contacts were deleted and unrestored during what should have been a routine sync operation. my apps, contacts, texts, everything was gone. Take heart some of you, you can restore them if you have sync'd your phone. Here is how I solved this problem on my iphone 3G
First, think back if you have ever allowed your phone to sync, and on which computers that may have been on. If you have never done this, this solution won't work for you.
On a computer you have sync'd do, go t iTunes and go to Edit, Preferences, Devices. Note in the window the backups that are available, dates, and what device was involved. If no back up is shown, then try other computers where you sync'd your device until you find a completed backup. Exit from this screen. Now, still in iTunes, on left side of screen Right click on your iPhone under Devices. Click on Restore from Backup, then click on the iPhone name corresponding to the back up you want. That's it. It worked for me. thanks to Apple for helping me find this solution.

  • Why can't I delete contacts in iPhone 5

Purchased new ip 5 and I  restored my contacts. Tried to delete a couple of them put they won't go away. ***

It's Facebook. There was an update several weeks before ios6 was released that caused this. You didn't notice, because you didn't update Facebook on your previous phone. My iPhone 4 still on 5.1.1 got the non-rotating Facebook weeks ago. I would say complain to Facebook, but we all know they don't listen.

  • I haven't backed up iPhone 4s, can I recover deleted contact ?

Hi, the other day for some reason I lost all my contacts on my IPhone 4S.
I have search everywhere I can think of to find a way to recover them but nothing worked.
So can anyone please tell me how I can recover my contacts?
I can’t use iTunes because I don't have the backup.
I even downloaded software that said it could recover my contacts without using iTunes but that didn't work either.
So if there is anyone out there that can tell me how I can recover deleted contacts from iPhone 4S, please tell me. Thanks

If you plug your phone into your computer you can sync and backup so that when you get the new phone you can restore from a backup instead of setting it up as a new iphone

  • How do I permanently delete contacts from my text message log?

How do I permanently delete contacts from my text message log?  It still shows old contacts once I've removed them from my phonebook

i know that!! After you delete them and then compose a new text it is still there. Basically you know when you send an email to someone and do not store them it still auto populates their name. This is what happens with my phone. I Google this issue and learn some knowledge about data eraser tips.  Maybe most people still don’t know that actual contents of file are not really deleted when performing simple deletion operation on your iPhone or other devices. But they are just marked for deletion and not shown in the file system of your iOS device. The actual data are still physically present on your iPhone. For iOS system, the only way to completely erase the data is to overwrite the original contents by using iPhone data eraser app. this is the guide on how to permanently delete contacts on iPhone.
The same thing happens to me, but it doesn't require deleting a contact. When I delete/replace a contact's number, the Messages.app still autocompletes the number with the contact's name and references it as "other".
