ICloud devices

When I go to iCloud settings and view My Devices I see my old iPad.  I no longer own it, thanks eBay.  How can I get rid of it in My Devices?

Thanks, Andre

Hi Andrefromcarlsbad,
Happy Thanksgiving Day!  If you no longer own the iPad, you can remove it from iCloud and your Apple Support Profile.  Here's how:
iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone
http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2702
Remove an iOS device you no longer have
If you no longer have the iOS device because you gave it away or sold it, you need to remotely erase it before you can remove it.
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud).
If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device.
Click Erase [device], then enter your Apple ID password. Because the device isn’t lost, don’t enter a phone number or message.
Note:    If you’re trying to erase a family member’s device, that person will need to enter his or her Apple ID password on this device.
If the device is offline, the remote erase begins the next time it’s online. You’ll receive an email when the device is erased.
When the device is erased, click Remove from Account.
All your content is erased, and someone else can now activate the device.
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351
If you no longer have your iOS device
If you didn't follow the steps above before selling or giving away your iOS device:
Ask the new owner to erase all content and settings as described above.
If you're using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, you can erase the device remotely and remove it from your account by signing in to icloud.com/find, selecting the device, and clicking Erase. When the device has been erased, click Remove from Account. After you erase the device, you'll need to wait 24 hours before you can activate iMessage on your new device.
If you're unable to complete either of the above steps, you should change your Apple ID password. Changing your password won't remove any personal information that is cached on the device, but it will make sure that the new owner can't delete your information from iCloud.
Deregister iMessage if you're switching to a non-Apple phone.
If you're using Apple Pay, you can also remove your credit or debit cards at iCloud.com. Just choose Settings to see which devices are using Apple Pay, then click your device and click Remove next to Apple Pay.
If you registered your device with Apple, you can unregister it at My Support Profile.
Have a great day!
- Judy

  • Contacts and Calendar with iCloud and non-iCloud devices

I have a mix of non-iCloud and iCloud devices and macs, both at work and at home. Calendar has continued to sync correctly between all devices, however contacts is definitely not syncing between iCloud and non-iCloud devices. Bookmarks are also not coming across from iCloud devices to non-iCloud macs. Mail is working fine. I'm surprised that there is such variation in core apps. I would have expected iCal and Address Book to both work (or not work), but this seems not to be the case.
Keen to know if this is the norm for other uses of mixed environments?

I have a Macbook. Mac OS X 10.5.8. And an iPhone 4, as well as an iPad 2 - both on iOS 5.
There is a really really annoying and silly issue with syncing contacts and calendars across my Mac using iTunes (cable) and the iCloud options when my Mac does not support iCloud.
When I create / amend a contact or an event on my iOS device, if I choose (or more likely than not, the default option) "iCloud" for my contacts / calendar, the creation or amendment does NOT appear in my MAC even when syncing over cable with iTunes.
I have to choose ONE to edit - either the iCloud version OR the "from my Mac" version.
This is extremely annoying and silly - so much for Apple's seamless integration of products.
Of course, the easiest way out (and I am assuming Apple's preferred option) is to
    (1) get a new Macbook Pro / Air that has OS X Lion which has iCloud inbuilt. - but that is just wasteful as my Macbook is still running flawlessly. (until now)
Or to do the unthinkable and tinker with electronics when you are totally clueless (like I am) and to
    (2) upgrade to Snow Leopard and then to Lion - yeah right... have you friggin read those reviews?!?!
Is Apple intending to solve these issues for the non iCloud / iCloud group of users and make the Apple experience better again?
Or just because the company is doing great financially, and selling more products more than ever, and yet still have huge huge markets to conquer, gonna just ignore the above issues and just wait for our patience to wear thin, and do (1) - buy yet another new product.
OR we could switch to android and samsung and PCs and what have yous... please do not make us make this choice!!!

nevermind, Just figured out that my iMac does not support it. Thanks Apple, once again coming up with stupid functionality that only works when you pay more money. 3yr old machine, I guess I need to send it to scrap heap.

  • How do I add my Macbook Pro to the Icloud devices?

2 things...my I cloud account will NOT show Keychains on this MacBook Pro

  • TS3988 How do I get more iCloud devices.  I recently added Apple TV to my devides and I have already have 5 devices registered to iCloud.

I recently added Apple TV to my home network and it works fine however I want to use it directly from iCloud since i carry my Mac Book Pro away from my home network.  Now it seems that you can only register 5 devices to iCloud so when the computer is not on the network the purchased items are not available to the Apple TV.  Is there a way to register more than 5 devices to iCloud through iTunes?

I'm not sure.  There is a set of devices that have access to your iTunes library through iCloud and the limit is 5.  However, I have the Apple TV working with one exception, the shows & music still need to have my Mac in the network to play.  There doesn't seem to be a play from iCloud.  Or am I expecting too much.  I of course purchase things from the iTunes and when I do on one of the devices it downloads but if those devices are not on my LAN will they still be available to the users while it's gone.  I guess one way to do it is set a single device as a master iTunes device that is not mobile.
I could be over thinking this.  I am an old PC user that has been converted to all Apple.

  • How to restore an icloud device after removing it

when I loss my iphone a friend one ask me to remove it from icloud on my macbookpro and that it would re-appear when someone try my phone again. I wish i hadn't done it because find my iphone app when i go to icloud on my computer has been showing ever since " no device found "
Is it possible to restore my iphone in icloud?
    thnx

You can only restore the iCloud backup during the initial setup, so open Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. During the setup, it will ask you to restore a backup, so select the option to restore the backup from iCloud and follow the steps

  • Help - unable to remove ipad from icloud device list

I am trying to erase/remove my IOS7 ipad mini from my iCloud account, as I am selling the device.
I have been able to use the iCloud - Find my iPhone function to sucessfully erase the ipad mini. I did this using the browser interface to www.icloud.com from a PC.
I then try to 'remove' the 'erased' ipad and I am getting a recurring :- 'There was a problem sending your request to your device' error in the iCloud, Find my iPhone browser screens.
The device has sucessfully been erased and even if I repeat the device setup and re-associate it with my icloud ID. I get the same problem as above. Furthermore if I try to disassociate from icloud on the device itself by selecting the > general > reset > reset all content and settings option. I am asked for my iCloud login as part of this and I get an error that the device cant connect to iCloud - or something similar.
Any ideas how I get around this, as I basically have an orphaned ipad entry (albeit erased - so none of my data is on it), associated with my iCloud account and I dont want this - obviously..
    Thanks..

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried all that - but it makes no difference. Will see if speaking to apple support can help.

  • HT201318 How do i swap icloud devices when upgrading iphone?

i have just upgraded from iphone 4s to 5s, i have succesfully brought all my info from icloud to my new phone which is all fine.
when i come to back up the new phone to icloud it is doing it is a seperate device to my old phone therefore doubling the storage space requirement, i don't want this to happen as i will be selling the old phone.
i dont want to buy more storage because i clearly dont need it
i want to remove the old phone from icloud and replace my new device on that account
    how do i do this?
    thanks

Settings > iCloud > Storage + Backup > Manage Storage > [Tap the unneeded backup] > Delete backup
Your new phone is already on the account if you're already signed into that iCloud account on it.

  • 2 iCloud devices, 2 non iCloud devices

I have 4 Apple devices. An iMac G5, a MacBook Intel, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4. My two computers, the iMac and MacBook, are not iCloud capable. However, my iPad and and iPhone, are iCloud capable.
I've done most everything I can to prep the computers for the end of MobileMe. But when I try to sign in to iCloud on my iPhone and iPad, they tell me I need to move everything to iCloud from my computer. Grrrr! Well I've done what the emails from MobileMe have said on my computer. It says my email is set up to still use my orginal account, and tells me to make sure my photos are synced up etc.
So what do I do, when I can't set up iCloud on my computers? Will I be able to use it at all on my iPad and iPhone? I'm confused!

Migrate to iCloud using the Move Website.
Your macs won't be able to use all the features of iCloud but they can run iCloud mail, if set up manually as described below. You will also be able to access your iCloud contacts, calendars etc using the website iCloud.com

  • HT4759 if I clear email on my iPhone or iPad does it clear it on all iCloud devices????

When I clear email on my iphone using icloud does it clear it from my mac and ipad?????

If it's you iCloud email account, yes.  Deleting email on any of your devices/computers deletes them everywhere.

  • My MAC doesn't appear in my iphones list of covered icloud devices; don't know why and don't know how to add my MAC if it isn't covered

Can't figure why my MAC, which I thought was on my iCloud account doesn't show up with the list of devices when I look up my iCloud on my iPhone.  I thought that it was included and set up for iClouid back up, but now am not sure.  Can't figure out how to get it on iCloud if it isn't.  Thanks

What system are you running on your Mac?  Does it meet the requirements listed in this Apple doucment: iCloud: System requirements
    Happy Holidays

  • When I try to back up my iCloud device it will start the process but will not finish the backup

When trying to backup my iCloud on iPad it will start the process but moments later it stops and is unable to finish

This may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your device that is causing the backup to fail.  To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last iCloud backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on and try backing up again.
If it still won't back up, you may have an app or something in your camera roll that is causing the backup to fail.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If the backup is successful, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is causing the backup to fail and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

  • Lost ipod, x appear in icloud device locator

when i update the ios7 on my iphone, i found out that my photostream was filled with some strangers photos, which i believe coming from my lost ipod.  I tried to locate it to erase data & lock the ipod, but it didn't appear in the find my iphone list of device.  when i check the list of device associated with my icloud account in itunes and registered device on the web, it does appear.
how can i locate this **** thing and erase all data before i can lock it?  i dun care if it's missing anymore, i just want to protect my privacy.

I digged into it as I had the same problem, I found this in the logs:
    7/17/08 21:49:46 Xcode[2242] Error loading /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/iPhoneR emoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice: dlopen(/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/ iPhoneRemoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice, 265): no suitable image found. Did find:
/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/iPhoneR emoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
It turned out that XCode was running in 64bit mode, so it could not load the 32bit plugin. After toggling the 'Open in 32 Bit Mode' checkbox in 'Get Info' on XCode the device loaded (in 32 bit mode), then the iPod showed in the organizer.

  • ICloud device identification?

Got the following message from iCloud.com:   You are currently using 4.8 GB of your total 5 GB of iCloud storage, which means your iCloud storage is almost full. When your storage is full, device backups to iCloud will stop and apps will no longer be able to save documents to iCloud
I have no idea which device they are taking about.... Any way of identifying which device(s) are using iCloud storage.???...  We have 5 macbooks, 4 iphones, and an i-pad.

If they are all syncing with your iCloud account, they are all contributing to the shared data in the account; such as your iCloud contacts, calendars, etc.  Your iOS devices may all also be storing their backup in your iCloud account if they are backing up to iCloud .  You can check this on any iOS device in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, on the Backups list.  This article explains different ways to manage and reduce your iCloud storage: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4847.

  • Remove old iPhone from iCloud "devices"

I traded in my iPhone 5 for a 6plus. Erased the old phone before bringing to Apple. It's still listed on my iCloud account (iCloud.com/settings/my devices. There's no delete button or any way to remove from there. Any ideas? (It also shows my old MacBook, which I still have access to.)

Searching the net I found no reliable solution to this.
Login into to your actual Itunes program on your PC.
    Go to your account
Then you select "Manage Devices" under the second section in "Itunes in the cloud"
You can then remove the device from the account.
